over here in the netherlands most people freeze bread so i literally grew up doing it and learning that was the only way. i was absolutley flabbergasted that this wasnt universally a thing
@@HealthNutNutrition Hey sister will you please tell which hospital it was where u gave birth that hospital in ur birth vlog, their service seemed amazing? Also which diapers did use for ur baby, and when at what months or age did u start using first diaper for baby? Thanks😊
Great tips! If you make your own bread, NEVER refrigerate it! Slice, and always double wrap before freezing. Another good tip for bananas that are overripe: toss the entire intact banana into a sealed freezer bag and freeze them. Continue to collect them until you have enough for banana bread. Finally, every time you prep celery, carrots, or onions for other dishes, toss the clean scraps, including clean inner onion skins into a big freezer bag. Do the same for all poultry bones. When you have enough, use them to make delicious bone broth in your Instant Pot or Crockpot. There are tons of videos on UA-cam on how to do this. Loved the adorable clip of Sage with blueberries all over her face. So cute!
Thank you for mentioning well-wrapping the bread before freezing. Otherwise, I’ve found it gets freezer burn if thrown in the freezer while only in its original bag.
I’ve got a couple of other freezer tips. If you like hummus and it’s on sale, buy a ton, and toss them in the freezer. When you eventually defrost, they’re exactly the same, texture-and taste-wise. If you eat tofu and like it extra dense and chewy, throw it directly in the freezer when you get home. When you need it, defrost, drain and press as usual. It has a meatier, denser texture, and soaks up more marinade/flavor.
When I lived in Exeter Ontario, the local grocery store would mark the avocados to $.10 because at that time 15 years ago in that very small town nobody was buying avocados. Being from California it was such a score for me
Great video, simple but useful ideas. I used dried out bread for panzanella salad during the summer and bread crumbs or croutons the rest of the year. Lots of uses for bread.
We are cut from the same cloth.. I do ALL of these! Literally except the onions and potatoes I swear they always lived in the same drawer! I just bought one of those onion saver containers just the other day to reduce the amount of ziplocks. great tip
Great video. That almost bad 50% off produce I love it. I have been doing that for years. It is the first place I go especially Loblaws. Love that section. Lots I didn't know until you said it. Great one
Thanks for these ideas, im definitely trying out the bananas hack now. The tip about the onions and potatoes really got me. I've been storing mine on the same shelf in the pantry for years and I've kept wondering why on the earth the potatoes kept sprouting SO fast. I used a lot of them in my garden to grow more potatoes, BUT didn't get to eat a lot of them lol. Thanks again!
what a great video idea and thank you for this! you aren't kidding... every dollar counts. Love any tips that save me some money 🙂😊 That banana tip... I had never heard before and my bananas always get way too ripe way too fast
just turned this video on to watchwith my lunch…I’m eating a chic pea salad sandwich on that same exact sprouted bread & mine came out of the freezer! I keep all my bread in the freezer too 😊
@HealthNut Nutrition I gave my onions stored in a bin in my pantry and potatoes stored on the opposite side, about 6 ft away. Is this far enough and will storing the potatoes in the dark brown bags be enough to compensate for the distance, as I want them both to stay in the pantry. Thanks in advance!
I always peel sweet potatoes instead of cutting off the ends. Less waste maybe? I also shop every week at one particular grocery store for discounted/markdown items.
Thanks so much, Nicole! I love these ideas! I've already been doing couple of those, especially the bread one - we always have some slices in the freezer and people don't believe it actually works 😀 But I also learned something new so can't wait for more tips!
You can freeze cilantro and then cut off what you need to use you can also dry it and crush it into a jar so you have fresh dried cilantro . Instead of a dish towel use a clean dog pee pad and cut it in 4 pieces and put it with the plastic side down in the fruit or veggie drawer. Then just throw it away when you need to.
You just don’t buy more you need of the things that goes bad and you can’t freeze it 🤷🏼♀️when you come across thing that are very very good deal on the sale , and you use it a lots and can freeze it buy a lots of it and save your self lots money 😏one time I came across whole fresh chicken in Hyvee for $5 ( usually are 8 and more ) so I picked 10 ( didn’t have more space in my freezer)
Double bag your food and that s usually enough to protect food from freezer burn. I triple bag/wrap all of my frozen food, and I never get freezer burn since 👍
Omg you have no idea how this changes everything. I have to go now and break up my bananas, store my citrus (this was my fav tip), bring back my brassica family veggies back to life!, and separate my onions and potatoes thats all together in a bin right now
I actually cant remember the last time I haven’t had bread ready to go, this bread hack is a must do at 2:48 😉
Great tips!! Does anyone else NOT say the H in herb, or just me?? lol

The healthy bread at my stores are OUT. OF. CONTROL. 💰 Freezing is a must. Thanks for a great video.
“Bread garages” LOL. These are great tips though. We do a lot of these but the stale bread one is definitely one I want to try. Thanks!
@@shopwithjen "H" erb is British English and it is not incorrect.
For the fresh herbs, I’ve found that trimming the ends of the stems before you put them in the water also helps extend their life
Oh gotta try that next time!

Filtered water, and trim the ends every 10 days. They will last for 6 weeks

Nice !
Peeling the bananas first then freezing in freezer bag is so much easier. They are ready to go when you need them.
You and I share a brain! 🤣 I do peel and mush the bananas first, but other than that, we do that same stuff!

I love to store my ripe avocados in water in the fridge. Green over 6 weeks later :)
The sound of the kale was freakishly pleasurable 😅 thanks for the great tips!!
Great video. I freeze loads too. We need a what I have in my fridge & freezer video
Thank you so much for this. Unfortunately I have wasted so much food and always feel bad about it. I’m excited to reduce food waste. Thank you.🙂
Storing herbs in water is a great idea, but remember to change the water every couple of days or they will go bad.

My dog is also called Cashew! She's a 17month old rough coat Jack Russel Terrier and I always cook for her!

Such a great area to find things on the go and use for other recipes, like bananas for banana bread 😉
Our dogs love the crunchy spines from romaine if you are going to slice them off to use the green leafy parts
Love this video. I'm also glad you're making a 2nd cookbook.

Hi, do you have a hack for a half cut onion?
At what stage of ripening to put the avocados in the freezer?
The clip of Sage with blueberry face.. 😂❤
this girl absolutely loves her blueberries
Fantastic ideas!
Great tips and I agree I don’t buy berries anymore because of that
So many good tips, thank you!
Thank you
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing, love the video ❤
The Kale one blew my mind
It does for me every time haha
Can you please tell me how to keep the open avocado outside without changing colors
Store in a mason jar with metal lid and it will stay fresh up to a week, leaving the pit in and skin on also helps.
Great tips!
Thanks for sharing 💜
yOu can freeze cilantrom too top top off our pastas food etc
Omg! Do you have a Rhodesian Ridgeback?
I learnt the hard way that avocado cubes must be frozen first on a flat tray before shifting to ziplog bag
Si helpful!!! Thanks🎉🎉
I'm waiting for your meal preps 😂😂😂😂😂
love this! Thank you
If you get yogurt and freez it it’s a good dog treat

I’m confused about the pee pads ….
Love love love love 😍
Awesome 👌
What are those bags you have.?
Great video!
I live in London here is very expensive specially healthy foods ,just searching good quality foods but less pricy haha
When putting bread in the freezer put a paper towel in the bag with but your bread and it'll keep the moisture out
love your jeans they look amazing
🥰
how do i store my onions?
Great tips thank you ❤
Won’t the vinegar make the berries taste different or bitter when you wash them in that vinegar?
Nope! As long you rinse them well they actually taste so fresh

If you wash the bananas when you first bring ths! In they last all week
You can also store the berries in just glass mason jars and they last super long.
I’ve found bread gets freezer burn when I freeze it. 😢
Double bag your food and that s usually enough to protect food from freezer burn.
I triple bag/wrap all of my frozen food, and I never get freezer burn since 👍
I slice my bagels before I put them in the freezer. I would do the same with bread.
When you say bag, it sounds like 'beg' 😮
The h in herbs is silent, like 'erbs'. No disrespect, as English is my second language and I'm still learning.
Thanks for all the great tips!
Not in new Zealand it's not..
@@loosetooth1989 good to know, thanks!
