One interesting thing I notice about this scene, is that when Donkey is told to do something by the humans, he always hesitates. But when Caesar yelled "Leave him!" He instantly obeyed. Could be a subtle foreshadowing of where his true loyalties lie.
"where his true loyalties lie"? LMAOOOOOOOOOOO that's what true loyalty is? He killed his whole family and a whole fucking bunch of other apes loooooooooooooooooooooooool, you think that's loyalty I pity the fuck out of you.
Caesar is such a badass character. He refuses to surrender to the primal nature of his world no matter what he goes through. He refuses to use dominance or displays of strength as a leader. Instead, he uses the compassion and honor that Will taught him.
He actually uses dominance quite a lot but in a subtle way both dawn and war. When koba or snow are speaking aggressively toward him he stands up tall while glaring at them in an act of dominance and they both shut the fuck up koba even lowers himself and presents his hand
Probably because movies like Interstellar, and Blade Runner 2049 came out in their respective years. It was pretty difficult when you have two or more movies with such amazing VFX, and 2014 and 2017 were two of those years.
I love donkeys reaction,he tried to act like those words didnt scare him,it shows even when he thought of himself to be under humans control,he still respected caesar and feared how he speaks.
That’s because ceaser speaks to lead or when necessary not to intimidate for other apes them talking is a gift ceaser in some kind of way earned his way to speak I’m sure his story is spread to every ape about his first words

The sad thing about this, the orangutan was a kid. Ceasar knew it was male, he would know since they're his people. Male orangutans don't grow their side flaps until they fully mature like Maurice. It wasnt just him not standing by watching one of his own get whipped(of course it was also that too), he was speaking out because he would not let a child get tortured
Wow, this changes a lot. I just assumed it was a weak old orangutan who had no dominance. (since the bigger the side flaps the more dominant or whatever)
this scene gives me watery eyes how no matter how much pressure he had around him he didn’t bow down to nobody and took the hits like a leader and everybody went crazy when he called out to leave the other ape
Red's story is somehow similar to Koba's both corrupted, but while Koba became corrupted because of humans by himself, Red followed Koba while he was still a leader, so he works for humans just to survive, very sad how the wrong leader can make yourself killed
Caesar really proved in this scene that humanity had truly become the real animals and his kind had advanced to become far more humane than they ever were.
Ceaser felt like he was right back in the "sanctuary" from the first movie. No matter how much he tried there was no way he would stand for this treatment.

Honestly (not trying to be racist or anything), but that’s what they did to slaves. If they messed up, whether it be by accident or purpose, they get punished.
there is a 4th movie coming, likely to be the bridge between the prequels and the originals. they do need to explain how the apes began to speak fluidly and how they enslaved humanity, after all.
Unfortunately it’s going to be made by Disney now. So it’s not going to be good like these movies were. That is because they are going to make it kid friendly and not touch on the deep themes these movies touched upon

He couldn't risk it here. It could start unnecessary rebellion, and he had a war with the north coming up, plus keeping Ceacer in submission allows the other apes to follow.
