OK everyone, so I was not born until May 5, 1977 so I came in halfway through the second season of Laverne and Shirley. I have been a fan ever since then and now approaching 45 years old this coming May I still am a fan. I realize a lot of people do not like the California episodes and they prefer the Milwaukee episodes over the California ones but I think the California episodes are also included Cindy Williams we’re just as great as all the first five seasons. I mean come on it was still Laverne and Shirley and yes it kind of sucked after Cindy laughed but still at least Penny tried for the eighth and final season

Season 6 and up sucked. I was always use to Laverne and Shirley being in Milwaukee.
Steve Vaught I think that Shirley being written out of the show was a much bigger shark-jumper. Remember that by 1080, the show was roughly based on the late 1950s and early 1960s, when many people were moving to Southern California.

A lot of TV shows made big changes in 1980. Why? Because it was 1980...a NEW decade. Everyone back then and I never understood the big deal , acted like "Okay new decade , gotta toss out everything 1970s and make changes!"
Happy Days changed, Three's Company, Alice and many others "tweaked" their shows over the late spring & summer of 1980.
(How anyone managed to get anything done during the 1980 summer Actors strike still amazes me. The season didn't start til November that year .)
Laverne & Shirley's was the craziest. Now for those watching back then, I don't know if you noticed , but going from Season 5 into 6, they jumped over 2 & 1/2 years in the setting.
It was Spring 1962 when season 5 ended and the girls arrive in L.A. in we'll say Aug. / Sept. of 1964.
8 years out of high school , so now they're 26 or 27 years of age and acting thier age.
When the girls leave the old apartment in 1964 "Yesterday" by the Beatles plays over a montage (but the song didn't appear until Autumn of 1965.)
I binge watched the series on DVD a couple of years ago . There a number of good episodes between 1980 - 1983 but yeah, it's just not the same .
This is when Laverne and Shirley finally got good.
