  • 52 adverts from the 80s, 90s and 2000s, compiled from my collection of adverts posted before (but there are a few new ones in this set). I've upscaled them from the standard PAL format they were in and widescreen ones have been letterboxed (top and bottom).

    Adverts were better than the programmes in the 80s.

    I always felt sorry for the actor in the Flyte advert, we never saw his face either, the poor chap.

    I've been humming this tune all way and saying some jibberish in a accent where he says juice loose moouse, did a quick search as i knew it was a sweet advert and within a minute i found this video, as i saw the thumbnail i knew it was the one,
    7:14 👍
    Thank you lol

      And only a one in fifty chance of me picking the right thumbnail! It originally featured in Volume 18 of my old TV advert compilations at ua-cam.com/video/ZQHK0aVepV4/v-deo.html, or ua-cam.com/video/ZQHK0aVepV4/v-deo.html?t=125 if you want to start at the Maynards WIne Gum advert.

      The tune is taken from a song called "Hoots Mon" recorded by Lord Rockingham's XI and lots of cover versions. Several versions are available on UA-cam.

      Couldn't identify the 'kisser' but the friend who walked in on her is Alexi Wasser who appeared in several other adverts for other products. The advert came out in July 2012 and so incensed the Daily Mail that they had two articles on it. One published on 5 August (www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2184059/Skittles-accused-bestiality-commercial-woman-kissing-walrus.html) and one on 29 August (www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2195315/Skittles-ad-showing-woman-making-WALRUS-attacked-promoting-bestiality.html) after a mother's group complained.

    Trying to find a 90s one done in a very Terry Gilliam Monty Python sort of animation with an old man on a bridge watching a steam train. Think it was for Wonka nerds or fizzy jerks.

    i was in a lesson and it was my first lesson with this teacher and she was showing us a video and it was on autoplay
    my class is full of dirty minded people
    so this comes on and everyone bursts out laughing and i even have tears in my eyes i’m laughing so much and i wasn’t the only one

    • @LarryDors
      @LarryDors  2 роки тому

      I don't know what video your teacher was orignally showing, but you would have to think why the UA-cam algorithm thought my compilation of sweets adverts would be the right one to show next! As for the struggling turtle/tortoise, he was drawn in the early 80s (I can't find the exact year) and transferring the advert from VHS to the computer meant that the thin line animation is not easy to see, but the sound is fine.

      oh right yeah we couldn’t see the video and the original was an advert from 80s i think it was cause it was there first music lesson and we’re doing like music for adverts

      Since I made this compilation, I've only found another two sweet adverts which are in Volumes 111 (Cadbury's Creme Eggs - Airport Conveyor) and Volume 114 (Clorets). The only collection I haven't done is for drinks!

    Was the entirety of the cast of Lock Stock And Two Smoking Barrels busy making candy adverts in the 90s?

    • @LarryDors
      @LarryDors  2 роки тому

      They had to do somethng before the script came in, so why not adverts? You should watch ua-cam.com/video/K9CEvrD48Yk/v-deo.html, ua-cam.com/video/DwfcPSTD7BM/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/E9Io-CJq59Y/v-deo.html for more familiar faces!

    Is the flyte advert set in the glades shopping mall in Bromley?

    • @LarryDors
      @LarryDors  2 роки тому

      The Glades opened in 1991 and the adverts were made in 1998, so it is possible. The few pictures I've seen of the inside look similar, but you really need to find some taken at Christmas near the top of one of the escalators where there was a statue (as passed by the policewoman).

    • @richardknowlson6319

      @@LarryDors Yeah maybe, I know how the part at the top of the escalators in the glades has huge Christmas decs. It does look a lot like the glades thou and I wasn't sure when that flyte advert was made.

      it's Bobby McFerrin and trhe song is Thinkin' About Your Chocolate. It was a re-recording of his song Thinkin' About Your Body and was released in 1989 for the Cadbury's campaign. www.oldies.com/artist-biography/Bobby-McFerrin.html

      I captured all of these adverts from old VHS tapes. I think the Kia-Ora advert came out in 1982 and to get a copy of it in the cinema you would have needed a video camera and a seperate recorder. The size of those two would have been fairly difficult to hide! It was shown on television later on, but Kia-Ora was the only drink you could get when you watched a film back then.

      They used a similar idea with washing up powder commercials at the time, asking people how they got on using the product. There's a bed commercial around at the moment that does the same thing (and looks just as false!).
