Mitch's weight tends to be changeable, so he can sometimes be hard to recognize until that incredible voice comes out. Yes, that's Mitch behind Avi. Also, I believe Mitch is the youngest member of the group; I believe he had just graduated from high school when he, Scott, and Kirstin put the group together.
Kevin INVENTED something he calls cello boxing; it was his UA-cam videos of cello boxing that got him noticed by the original trio when they needed to add a rhythm section.
They were young 20ish kids in these old videos. They are now almost 30 year old adults. Us old pentaholics have watched them grow up and we feel like proud parents.
If you didn't already know, the trio (Scott, Mitch, and kirstin) grew-up together and would sing together in high school. They added Avi and to enter the 3rd season of the a Capella show Sing Off ,, which they won in 2011-12. Since then they've won 3 grammy.
He looks TOTALLY different. The skinnier he got, the darker his skin got?? Still trips my brain out, and I've watched all their videos a million times.
2017/2018 were breakout years for Kirstin. Before that she preferred to stay in the background, but then she did a solo album and a 3 month stint on Broadway, and her voice has been more powerful and she’s just been more confident, it’s been so awesome.
They really grew into themselves on UA-cam. I feel like a big step was when Avi left, as sad as that was, I think, because he was the oldest, he really shepherded the group through their superstardom and after he left, the rest of the group had to stand on their own two feet and together and I think they all came into themselves through that difficulty and then they found Matt who completes their group really well, but in a different way than Avi. So, through that long explanation I say, no, it's not just you, they really have grown up in the past 3-4 years.
I’m so glad you mentioned Kirstie could be a Disney Princess because there are 2 videos that you should checkout. The first is the Disney Love Medley by Voctave ft Kirstie and her ex Jeremy Michael Lewis. Also The Frozen Medley by Superfruit ft. Kirstie. Superfruit is made up of Mitch and Scott from Pentatonix It’s their own channel. Their channel is more light hearted fun where you can get an idea of who they are away from Pentatonix. I hope to see your reactions to those. Have a great day!
Superfruit is just them and their friends having a good time, fun time with their music. Good singing and shenanigans, with a little satire at times. Frozen Medley is a fun one and love what they do with Kristie's hair.
I have always said, If Pentatonix does a cover, it will be an upgrade. Another great review, keep up the great work. Sorry it took me so long to find you. Looking forward to more from you. Again, much love from a Great Grandma in WA. State.
You are good. You’re right in two respects about Kirstie. She can do Disney. See her Disney Love Medley with Voctave and her then fiancée, Jeremy Michael Lewis. You can find it on Voctave’s UA-cam channel. It is incredible and worth reacting to. And on your second point, Kirstie has, in fact, done Broadway. She played Lauren in Kinky Boots on Broadway in 2017. There is a video where Kirstie and the other lead cast members did a few songs from the show on Good Morning America. That is Mitch. He changes his look a lot. And Scott found Kevin through a UA-cam video where Kevin was “cello-boxing,” which is why Scott asked him to join Pentatonix. Kevin is incredibly talented. Final point. They wanted this video to look like a painting, which is why they all hold the same pose throughout the video and aren’t very animated. Check out their Daft Punk video for an example of how expressive and creative they could be, even back then. They won their first Grammy for Daft Punk. Keep up the good work!
It was their artistic choice to sit in a somber faction for this video as it's a sad song about letting go of a loved one, not a lack of confidence. You can view videos produced around the same time like "Can't Hold Us" or "Cruisin for a Bruisin" were they are very animated.
This music video reminds me of the history (early 19th century) of photography. Subjects had to remain still for an extended period of time for the image to develop. Because of that, no one smiled in the photographs because it would be too difficult to maintain. In this music video, the only body movement is Kevin playing the cello. Scott is clutching the chair backs to prevent himself from using his hands like he normally does when singing. Another thing of note is the sepia-tone color of their clothing, set, and lighting that is found in antique photographs.
2:18 you are not the only reactor to say "Is that Mitch?" At least you recognized him eventually, many people assume he was a different person. 😂 Our Mitch is the chameleon of the group.
Honestly, Mitch always looks just about the same to me, sans hair and clothes. Ok, yes, he changes his hair and clothes. Everyone changes clothes, and lots of people change hairstyles, or shave off beards, or whatever. No big deal, I can see past those changes. Kirsten is the real chameleon: I could swear she changes her *ethnicity* sometimes. Honestly, I saw one of their videos, and I was like, "Wait, who is that beautiful Hispanic girl, when did she join the group?" And it was just Kirsten, only she'd darkened her skin tone and done something with her makeup that somehow changed her apparent face structure and the shape of her eyes, and it looked like a completely different person. Other times she looks like a stereotypical white girl (with or without the "tried to tan but it was winter in Cleveland so the two tones are white and whiter" option); or Asian; or ... ok, I haven't seen her pull off African-American yet, but I imagine that's next.
They are more confident in themselves. When you start winning grammies, confidence should absolutely follow! You should watch their sing off journey.. they were literal babies... but so amazing. You’d probably like watching them become who they are today! I love your reactions!
Funny you should say that Kirstie sounds like she could do Disney songs. She actually did a medley with Voctave called 'Disney Love Medley" worth a watch as well.
For another view of Kirstie’s vocals that is more recent, check out “shallow”. She destroys that one too. So beautiful. All of their music is amazing. Even if I don’t like a particular song (still hasn’t happened yet), but I can always appreciate their talent and majesty they bring to everything they do.
They have matured, they have developed greater depth, but I think you find the same basics in them going almost to the beginning, and it's called Cello Boxing and it's how Kevin got noticed by the rest of the group when they were forming he had a viral video doing it. Yes it's Mitch I wish I had a dollar for every time a reactor says "Wait who is that is that Mitch?" You like Kirstie so you should watch ua-cam.com/video/zLMeDUBKmBs/v-deo.html "Rather Be" And finally Kirstie has done Disney! ua-cam.com/video/zLMeDUBKmBs/v-deo.html with her ex-fiancee... (History: When PTX was a baby it was Kirstie, Mitch and Scott as high school students who had been singing together for years, Mitch and Scott since about age 10 in Children's Theater. They put together an acapella cover of Telephone to sing while their choir was transitioning during a concert, you can dig that up on UA-cam. It's great. The three were a tight group. They decided to compete on Sing Off an Acapella Contest show, and thats when they added Avi and Kevin, and they competed and won the show. The got $100,000 and a record deal but the record company cancelled on them. So they went on UA-cam and became big... in 2017 AVI left the group on good terms and Matt eventually was recruited to replace him.)
OK...I mentioned to you in my comments on your first reaction video to them that Mitch, Kirstie and Scott have always changed their clothes (fashion), hair (styles & colors), looks and weight (Mitch/Kirstie). In 2014, they were in their early 20's. When they appeared on TV show (Sing Off - 2011 Acapella competition) they were still GREAT, now many refer to them as SuperHuman and/or Aliens. However, the true Renaissance man of the group is really Kevin...he did a Cello concert at Carnegie at 18 and gave a demonstration of his beatboxing. Then, wandered off to Yale graduating with honors and was accepted to their Medical School, but got called by Scott to join them (did I mention that he plays about 5 instruments and learned to speak Mandarin)...rest is history. Now would be a good time to go off schedule and react to Kevin's recent solo's (but still w/Pentatonix)...either "Down" and "Sign of the Times". For a special live performances react to "Aha, Singapore", "Gold" (Kiara), PopSpring-San Diego (2016). One of the most truly beautiful live song is one where Avi does "Standing By" (you have to Google it) I have one last recommendation...you're such a good reactor, how about doing Pentatonix twice a week !!
Enjoyed your reaction. They were intentionally less active and expressive in this video, because they were setting a scene, like a portrait. You can see Scott's holding tightly onto the back of the chair so he doesn't move his hands. Kevin "cello-boxes" in a couple of their videos, including Radioactive and Papaoutai. He joined the group because Scott saw a video of him doing that, and they were looking for a beatboxer to be with them on the TV show The Sing Off. Avi joined at the same time, in 2011. Before that, it was just the Trio, Scott, Kirstie and Mitch. Mitch really does change his look a lot - he even went bald at one point, check out PTX Perfume Medley. BTW, you might want to check your intro - a section of it repeats.
I feel the visual of this song, the blank, emotional less stares give you the feeling of the devastation you feel when you first realize that a great love is now lost! Great Reaction, will be back for more!
It's A great big world ft Christina Aguilera, not the other way around. The original song is by A great big world, and also they have both version with and without her.
Your observations are spot on! I've followed PTX since they competed in the "Sing Off" ! Scott, Kirsty and Mitch were 19yrs old then and Kevin and Avi were not much older. The growth and maturity of their music is heavenly and they will continue this kind of progress for the rest of their lives, that's mind blowing! 😲 Schnell, you're doing a great job and I enjoy your reactions and the knowledge of music that you bring. Mahalo for all that you share. 🤙🤙 Mmm, I viewed some of your singing videos. You have a very pretty voice. Aloha and Mahalo ,
One of the rare pieces that use an instrument; Kevin plays various instruments, sings and beat boxes. Separately this features Kirstie throughout and amazingly meshes with the rest. You are viewing videos out of a respective timeline order. Mitch used to be very thin, put on a good deal of weight then lost it all again. His hair styles and clothing have changed dramatically over time. Say Something is truly beautiful especially the end.
As you might be aware, they have sooo many videos, it's hard to keep up with them. I just watched one called "Pentatonix - TV Appearances". It's about 17 minutes, so I don't think it is something to react to, but if you want an insight to them, you should just take the time on your own. Here's a clue...Kirstie has a thing for shoes and she's always wearing very high heels; Mitch runs the gamut of hair styles; and the group as a whole, wear so many different (and crazy) outfits... total enjoyment. BTW, during home isolation, they're putting out official videos once a week...AMAZING !!
Kirstie has actually done Broadway. She was in Kinky Boots. You should really react to their time on Season 3 of the Sing Off. Start to finish. You'll really see their true beginnings.
I would definitely check out their cover of Gold. It has Mitch as a lead and some amazing harmonies. As for Kirstin singing disney you should check out voctave's disney love medley it features Kirstin. Kevin is amazing he calls that Celloboxing he so talented. He did a cover on a song called down also a good listen. Yes I have noticed that they have gotten more confident. After winning a Grammy for their Daft Punk medley. That definitely helped them along with winning the show Sing-Off. Welcome to the family of pentaholics we're happy to have you
Scott and Mitch were a couple for a long time, and now they aren't. So it's probably really hard singing that particular song, with your ex. I know I couldn't.
naterater100 no, I think you misunderstood what they said, they are trying to say it’s Mitch as most new pentaholics who watch old PTX seem to be confused on why Mitch’s appearance changes all the time....
Mitch is indeed a chameleon...he looks different in each video yet he's been with the band since before day one and is still surprising us! * They have a super fun official PTX video of A-ha! And since you are very appreciative of the technical side, you should watch a live version of it... look the live version up as "A-ha Singapore - The Star Vista" (I'd love to see your reaction to it)...*Note: it's a video taken by a fan in the audience, decent quality and VERY WELL WORTH watching!! Make sure you've got the headphones handy for this one for sure!! Have a great week, stay safe and healthy! 🤗🌺
If you want to hear Kirstie singing Disney, then you need to react to the "Disney Love Medley" feat Kirstie and Voctave. Just incredible. And there is always the "Frozen Medley" she did with Scott and Mitch. Loved your reaction.
I understand every time someone doesn't recognize Mitch. To me, he just looks like him, but I've been watching since The Sing-Off, so I've seen all of the evolutions. And no, watching Kevin play while beatboxing will never get old.
Another great rabbit hole to go down is Kevin Olusola's (the beatboxer) "KOvers" of songs. He does some amazing looping with cello, keyboards, drum kit, beatboxing AND singing. It's nuts how talented he is!
They've done some collaboration with other artists too. For example, they've done an INCREDIBLE video with Jason De Full, and an amazing rendition of "Jolene" with Dolly Parton. You should definitely check those two out! Have an amazing week!
2 points FIRST: If you REALLY want to get to understand Pentatonix, you need to take a trip through their "The Sing-off" songs. At the time of the show, they had only been together a week. Mitch, Kirstin and Scott were a group, and they added Avi and Kevin (found him by seeing a 900,000 video of him cello/boxing on UA-cam) the week they went to the show. SECOND: If you are impressed by Kevin's skill, you should watch some of his solo studio work. His channel is KOver and I would watch either his "Sign of the Times" or "Down" videos.... Even if you don't react to the Sing-off videos (but I think you should) they will show how fluid they worked together at the beginning.
The group talks about making this video during their "On My Way Home" tour. They asked the crew for a "painting in progress" set. The crew delivered, so did the group.
Yes their transformation is amazing! It has been a pleasure watching them grow into their own skin and really flourish. All Pentaholics are proud mama's and papa's of these amazing children.
Well yes... it’s a 4 chords song but the lyrics and the melody are beautiful, proof that a song does not have to be complicated to have an impact. The PTX arrangement is so refined. I love how at the beginning Mitch is singing and harmonizing with Kirstie while Scott is harmonizing with the cello, and then they switch, and then Avi has his moments, and then the layering of harmonies in the bridge, and then the build up, and Kirstie’s powerful finale, and Kevin’s celloboxing and sweet ending. Uuuurrrrggghhhh! So well done and always at the service of the song. I. Love. Them. Great reaction. 🤗
You thinking that they were more sheltered and shy in this video is because they wanted to portray it as a family portrait. So they were trying to be very still and not show much emotion as they sang. They have a series called Ptxperience that follows them on tour and behind the scenes we get to see them filming this video shoot. They explain it there what they wanted this video to be like. Some reactors watch PTXperience and post it as a reaction series. They have episodes from their tours of 2014, 2015, 2018 and 2019. It’s a great way to get to know their personalities and see how they work and also progress over the years.
definitely earlier days, Avi's bass is almost untouchable. Matt has done a great job integrating with the group, he is different, but not Avi..if that makes sense. Kirstie's voice is so powerful, think about it, you can hear her through these 4 alpha male singers. I take turns with who I like the most with each different song.
Yes Kirstin has a very beautiful voice... it has captivated me... on Hallelujah and somebody I used to know .. but this one stole my heart. My eyes leak listening to her... it's so pure!
On Kevin, he calls beat boxing while playing cello "cello-boxing". While he was studying in China, he loaded a UA-cam video of his cello-boxing. This video went viral, and was how Scott Hoying was able to find Kevin to ask him to be their beat-boxer. I felt this is the first song from PTX where you could see Kirstin's range and power in her vocals. I think she has continued to grow since that time.
Really great reaction!! I am so glad you have found Pentatonix in the last few weeks and started reacting to them. You have still barely scratched the surface. I agree 100% that they have matured over the years and "come out of their shell" a bit more as artists and as individuals. So far everything you have reacted to is before 2017 so you have an even more mature version of them to hear yet. I can't wait for the next one!
Pentatonix loves to do Disney when they are playing around. By far the best Disney I have heard them sing is 'Can you feel the Love tonight' They own that cover.
I didn't read through your comments so somebody probably pointed it out already. But when you were talking about their beatboxer playing cello and how that is talent. Kevin Olusola might be the most interesting man in the world, screw those other commercials. As far as credentials of doing "everything you wish you were" he has it all. Unbelievably smart dude, he fascinates me beyond belief as to how bright he is and what a work ethic that dude has.
You are certainly correct that they've found their personal groove and are much more comfortable. One thing I thought in this video though was it was almost like a portrait come to life. They are not gesturing or making any large movements because it would break the concept. Just my take (perhaps a black and white photo?) If you want to hear Kirstie in a more animated video, watch Rather Be
Love this performance and prefer their older originals and covers. They seem more intimate and less produced. Avi is my all time favorite. He has such emotion in his voice and what a range. Kirstie has such an angelic voice and she sang from the heart in this one as well. I appreciate the journey and the climb. Thanks for your reaction.
Definitely... over time they have really come into their own. They always had great voices and are loaded with talent, but now they are super confident and you can see the difference in their performances. I would suggest watching/reacting to Kelly Clarkson singing "Piece by Piece" live on American Idol. It's amazing. Talk about pouring your heart and soul into a song and the performance!
Great reaction! You need to check out one of their "evolution" videos to see a really cool fun side of them. They've done "evolution of Michael Jackson", "evolution of Beyonce", and "evolution of ariana grande" in which they mix parts an artists songs together into on medley starting from the beginning of their careers. It's truly amazing and not something you'd have seen anywhere else. A big part of Pentatonix's genius is how they can mash songs together and seamlessly transition between them.
A lot of people say this. I gotta be honest, not a big fan of the evolution videos. For Mashups I much prefer La La Latch and New Rules, 2 of my favorites of theirs period.
If you want to see a real journey you should watch from the beginning when the were on the Sing Off, season 3. You can find all their performances. The original trio were only 19 years old.
Yup, Kevin can beatbox and play cello at the same time. He's also a gorgeous baritone and countertenor singer - you hear a little bit of his baritone at the end of this. Plus he's a pro-level saxophonist, and I feel like I'm forgetting at least one other instrument. And an exceptional scholar, so yeah... Impressive dude.
The idea behind this video is that they were all sitting for a portrait. It's like they're all being still and passive, while inside there's all this turmoil. That's why they seem so reserved in this one. A lot of their earlier videos have more energy. Check out "Rather Be" It's a great look at them all having a good time. It also features Kirsten in the lead.
That’s how they discovered Kevin...saw his UA-cam video playing cello and beatboxing way back before the Sing-off show they won that set this all off..
A lot of people get confused. There has been ONE personnel change with Ptx. They traded Avi (the black bearded bass) for Matt (dignified looking slim black guy). Everyone else is the same person if not the same hairstyle. Our sweet Mitch changes drastically, sometimes daily it seems. He's a fashion horse and likes it weird on occasion (In Vacation he can be admired in a lovely fuzzy red heart).
Man, I feel so old when people talk about loving Christina Aguilera when they were growing up. I was a few years out of high school when Christina first charted on her own. Of course, I probably sound young to others when I say I grew up with Whitney Houston, Phil Collins, Madonna, Prince, Pet Shop Boys, and my favorites, Depeche Mode.
LOL, there's actually a common saying you'll see in the comment sections of reactors watching PTX. If you have to ask, "Is that Mitch??" then it's definitely Mitch. 😂
You can actually see their first public performance as a group on season three of The Sing Off. You can find earlier performances of Mitch, Kirstie and Scott from high school doing Telephone. Mitch and Kirstie met through a community theater group when they were 8 or 9. Mitch and Scott met around the same time and then all three got together in various choirs in high school. There are UA-cam videos.
Your reactions are priceless!! You've got me listening to pentatonix all the time now haha. Would also love to see more cover songs/originals from you please🙏🙏🙏
I recommend checking out their cover of Radioactive featuring Lindsey Stirling. Also, Mitch and Scott have their own group called Superfruit, and they do their own original music there instead of covers.
It took you a little time to see Kevin celloboxing! Amazing, isn't it? They are younger in this video - but it isn't a lack of convidence - they wanted this video to look like a painting - that's why they don't move a lot! Kirstie really shines in this! And you are right they always make a song special - in the Pentatonix style we all love so much! Great reaction, I'm looking forward to your next one! My suggestion: Daft Punk ua-cam.com/video/3MteSlpxCpo/v-deo.html
Apparently they are big Christina Aguilera fans. See the grammy videos... So Mitch and Kristie met when they were around 8-10. They met Scott when they went to high school. They have all done lots of shows and choir. They formed The Trio and did UA-cams. Scott met Brian in college and got convinced to do The Singoff but they needed 5. I think Avi was recommended by a friend and they found Kevin on UA-cam doing ChelloBoxing. They met the day before they had to perform and clicked so well they won the show. This came with money and a record contract but they got dropped so they went on UA-cam. The rest is history. Kevin and Avi are apparently big Daft Punk fans which (I would guess) is why that's so fabulous. Scott explained at the Grammys that they recorded it in a closet and did the video at the kitchen table. Budget $400 I think. Magic. To see Kevin really shine try Little Drummer Boy, a song I never liked (until PTX of course).
Our Mitchie, the ever changing. Kirsten, too, for that matter. They rarely have the same look from one video to the next, either of them. But, if you really want to see " baby Pentatonix " you should go back and watch their Sing Off performances. Those are from the competition television show they won. They're a lot of fun, and you can see where they got some of the techniques they still use. That came from advice given to them by the judges on that show. If you'd like to see more from...well, all of them, really, they each have solo stuff they've done. Most notably is Kevin, who is very well known for doing covers ( or KOvers, as they're known ) on his own. I'm a HUGE fan of his work. Kirsten has done a solo album as well, and while I'm not as big a fan of her solo work, I still love her voice. Scott and Mitch usually work together, not not always. They've done a couple albums as Super Fruit, as well as many videos under that same name, which came from their web show. Avi has, of course, left the group to pursue music on his own. I love Avi's voice, and I enjoy some of the music he's done since he left. Matt...well, I don't really know, honestly. I'm sure he's done work on his own, but I've never gone out of my way to find it. I think he's a great addition to PTX, I love his personality and energy, but I just haven't taken the time to find any solo work he may have done. As for not knowing things about the group...don't worry about it, luv. You're less than a dozen videos in. The information will come. You're looking for suggestions that aren't Pentatonix. I'm sure many people have mentioned Homefree. They're another acapella group that is simply great. Besides everyone's solo work, and any Super Fruit videos you can find, I would suggest checking out Brian Justin Crumb. Mario Hose is another who has a great voice. Both of these guys have worked with members of PTX, which is how I heard them. That's really all I have for now. Great video, lots of fun to watch. Subbed, and I can't believe I hadn't done it sooner.
If you want to see how extraordinary they were from day 1, I highly suggest (and request) that you react to the 11 performances in order of their competition on "The Sing Off" season 3. They were babies, but the talent was always there. Or just give yourself a huge audio gift and watch their rendition on "Dog Days Are Over". Thanks for this fun reaction!!! Im so glad UA-cam recommended this video.
If you think them babies, you should see their Sing-off journey back in 2011 when Mitch, Scott & Kirstie were all 19yo. ;) And, the only band member change has been Avi/Matt.
I heard this song right before my daughters mother and I separated for good, it makes me remember the love of my life, and losing her.... Sometimes it doesn't matter how hard you try, you can't get through to someone
I started watching/listening to them just after they recorded Little Drummer Boy. So it's been quite a while for me. I even went back and watched the sing-off videos of them. They have consistently improved over time (and they were darned good to start with). Given that Kirstie, Scott and Mitch were all 19 during the contest, it's not surprising that their personal look has changed since then. All young adults go through that to a lesser or greater extent. Mitch, in particular, has experimented with some radically different looks. I see that somebody else has already commented on Kirstie doing a Disney song. Yeah, both as singles and as a group, they can and will do just about anything. i kind of think that their criteria for choosing a song is that it must be challenging. I'm looking forward to your next reaction of them. If you want to go back to their baby looks, try Dog Days are Over during the sing-off.
Kevin is beat-boxing flawlessly while playing flawless cello. Clearly not human.
Hard to believe but as good as they were, they're even better now.
A fun fact, Scott sings so much with his hands. The director had him hold on to both of the chairs to keep them still.
She is definitely a Disney princess and proved it in Superfruit Frozen medley
Warning to newbies, Superfruit often gets very naughty. Age restrictions suggested; probably not proper viewing for Grandmas.
Superfruit is just them and their friends having a good time, fun time with their music. Good singing and shenanigans, with a little satire at times. Frozen Medley is a fun one and love what they do with Kristie's hair.
@@Blue-rl5dp But us Grampas are fine with them. Superfruit is the best!
@@philipem1000 ROFL, Phil. Well Grampas have been known to enjoy a bit of naughtiness before.
@@Blue-rl5dp love the grandma warning 🙂
I highly recommend the Disney Love Medley, featuring Kirstie with Voctave. Another AMAZING a capella group.
Came looking for the Voctave recommendation when she said Kirstie and Disney.
It was their artistic choice to sit in a somber faction for this video as it's a sad song about letting go of a loved one, not a lack of confidence. You can view videos produced around the same time like "Can't Hold Us" or "Cruisin for a Bruisin" were they are very animated.
What Kevin is doing is called cello boxing 😅 But if you want to see real talent, you must react to his cover of down (Marian Hill)
Down fries my brain every single time, it is phenomenal.
100%! Kevin is amazing on Down.
AGREED!
And Sign Of The Times...Kevin is a beast!
Our Mitch is the chameleon of the group.
@@jonadabtheunsightlyto be fair she is Latina.
They are more confident in themselves. When you start winning grammies, confidence should absolutely follow! You should watch their sing off journey.. they were literal babies... but so amazing. You’d probably like watching them become who they are today! I love your reactions!
yes, you really should watch their Sing Off performances. We Pentaholics really enjoy rewatching the Sing Off with new Pentaholics.
K, but they weren't "literal" babies LOL.
Funny you should say that Kirstie sounds like she could do Disney songs. She actually did a medley with Voctave called 'Disney Love Medley" worth a watch as well.
Don't forget their Lion King cover.
Kirstie does an amazing job in that medley! Voctave is also awesome, another great group to be introduced to.
For another view of Kirstie’s vocals that is more recent, check out “shallow”. She destroys that one too. So beautiful. All of their music is amazing. Even if I don’t like a particular song (still hasn’t happened yet), but I can always appreciate their talent and majesty they bring to everything they do.
Ha! Kirsti has done Disney! check out her Disney Love Medley recording with Voctave.
Yes please do! You will love it!
One of the most truly beautiful live song is one where Avi does "Standing By" (you have to Google it)
I have one last recommendation...you're such a good reactor, how about doing Pentatonix twice a week !!
This is one of my favorite early Avi solos, it's beautiful!
Aloha and Mahalo ,
Aloha! :) and thank you so much! I am glad you are enjoying the videos :)
Welcome to the family of pentaholics we're happy to have you
It's Mitch alright
This was before Mitch went a little nuts with his hairstyles
2 points
FIRST: If you REALLY want to get to understand Pentatonix, you need to take a trip through their "The Sing-off" songs.
they have grown over the years but thru it all...they have always put out some fantastic music....
I cry every time Avi hits his solo
ME TOO
definitely earlier days, Avi's bass is almost untouchable. Matt has done a great job integrating with the group, he is different, but not Avi..if that makes sense. Kirstie's voice is so powerful, think about it, you can hear her through these 4 alpha male singers. I take turns with who I like the most with each different song.
Totally agree
Yes Kirstin has a very beautiful voice... it has captivated me... on Hallelujah and somebody I used to know .. but this one stole my heart. My eyes leak listening to her... it's so pure!
You should watch their Radioactive cover ft Lindsey Sterling... you get to see Kevin on cello again and Lindsey who’s a violinist
Mitch strikes again! I laughed out loud when you spotted him. Beautiful song and, yes, Kevin is unreal. Thanks for posting and see you next Monday.
Please react to Kevin's solo recordings of "Sign of the Times" and "Down". Then you really know what he is capable of.
"Be humble, be honest and be human" Words to live by. Kudos SJ *big love*
I recommend Gold. And pay attention to how Kevin and Avi interact as the rhythm section.
Disney Love Medley is an absolute MUST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mitch looks different in every video! He’s a shape shifter. And any weight changes completely change his every feature! It’s crazy!
I think u would absolutely love Pentatonix's cover of Gold.
#StaySafe
For Mashups I much prefer La La Latch and New Rules, 2 of my favorites of theirs period.
this song especially avi's part makes me cry everytime
Premis of the video set is that they are a portrait so the stoic nature of their delivery plays to that esthetic.
If you want to see a real journey you should watch from the beginning when the were on the Sing Off, season 3. You can find all their performances. The original trio were only 19 years old.
Any time you need to ask if that's Mitch the answer is ALWAYS yes 😂. Welcome to the PTX rabbit 🐇 hole.
She has done a Disney medley with an AMAZING group that will floor you! The high voices are.....wow....please check it out.
There has only ever been one member change and that was when Avi left at the end of 2017 and helped to pick Matt to be his replacement.
Pentatonix Dancing on my Own
Superfruit Empire Med
Superfruit Beyonce
Superfruit Anti Medley
Pentatonix ft Lindsey Stirling Radioactive
aaaand Kevin can speak fluent Mandarin, bench press 400+ lbs., and was in MEDICAL SCHOOL before he joined PTX. Impressive he is.
All of that, 4 sets of lungs, 20 fingers, 2 sets of lips, no need to actually breathe, and, at least, 3 brains. Swear that man is an alien. Lol.
Rebecca Frost Or an angel, whatever works. 😇
He's a fashion horse and likes it weird on occasion (In Vacation he can be admired in a lovely fuzzy red heart).
that bass on this song is all avi and yes that is mitch
The Sound of Silence!.. do that!
Supper Fruit. Scott and Mitch. Great fun and some amazing songs.
Would also love to see more cover songs/originals from you please🙏🙏🙏
hi schnell. another awesome reaction video. . just loved it.
I recommend checking out their cover of Radioactive featuring Lindsey Stirling. Also, Mitch and Scott have their own group called Superfruit, and they do their own original music there instead of covers.
We call them babies from this time period.
Mitch changes his look almost daily, almost like the rest of us change our shoes, or whatever. LOL
When you get a chance react to halleluja. I promise you won't be disappointed.
She already did it.
Yeah Kevin is a beast. He also speaks chinese and was pre med I think.
A great way to learn about Pentatonix is to watch The Sing Off season 3
Ding! Level 2 Pentaholic = when you find yourself asking "Is that Mitch?" (It always is, don't worry. )
If you think them babies, you should see their Sing-off journey back in 2011 when Mitch, Scott & Kirstie were all 19yo. ;) And, the only band member change has been Avi/Matt.
Also, most of their tracks have Behind The Scenes which show how they put their videos together..and how hard they work !
I would love it if you checked out their Daft Punk medley! Great reactions!
I heard this song right before my daughters mother and I separated for good, it makes me remember the love of my life, and losing her.... Sometimes it doesn't matter how hard you try, you can't get through to someone
Great reaction! Thanks! Stay safe!
It is Mitch! He usually looks different in every video
