    -------
“Doctor Sleep” continues the story of Danny Torrance, 40 years after his terrifying stay at the Overlook Hotel in The Shining. Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson and newcomer Kyliegh Curran star in the supernatural thriller, directed by Mike Flanagan, from his own screenplay based upon the novel by Stephen King.
Still irrevocably scarred by the trauma he endured as a child at the Overlook, Dan Torrance has fought to find some semblance of peace. But that peace is shattered when he encounters Abra, a courageous teenager with her own powerful extrasensory gift, known as the “shine.” Instinctively recognizing that Dan shares her power, Abra has sought him out, desperate for his help against the merciless Rose the Hat and her followers, The True Knot, who feed off the shine of innocents in their quest for immortality.
Forming an unlikely alliance, Dan and Abra engage in a brutal life-or-death battle with Rose. Abra’s innocence and fearless embrace of her shine compel Dan to call upon his own powers as never before-at once facing his fears and reawakening the ghosts of the past.
“Doctor Sleep” stars Ewan McGregor (“Star Wars: Episodes I, II & III,” “T2 Trainspotting”) as Dan Torrance, Rebecca Ferguson (the “Mission: Impossible” films, “The Greatest Showman”) as Rose the Hat, and Kyliegh Curran, in her major feature film debut, as Abra. The main ensemble cast also includes Carl Lumbly, Zahn McClarnon, Emily Alyn Lind, Bruce Greenwood, Jocelin Donahue, Alex Essoe and Cliff Curtis.
Trevor Macy and Jon Berg produced the film, with Roy Lee, Scott Lumpkin, Akiva Goldsman and Kevin McCormick serving as executive producers.
Flanagan’s behind-the-scene creative team was led by director of photography Michael Fimognari (“The Haunting of Hill House”), production designers Maher Ahmad (“Get Hard”) and Elizabeth Boller (“Hush”), and costume designer Terry Anderson (“Den of Thieves”). The music score is composed by The Newton Brothers (“The Haunting of Hill House”).
Warner Bros. Pictures presents, An Intrepid Pictures/Vertigo Entertainment Production, A Mike Flanagan Film, “Doctor Sleep.” Slated for release in North America on November 8, 2019, and globally beginning on October 30, 2019, “Doctor Sleep” will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Wiame Hekmi not really. Stephen King had no say or part in the original Shining. He didn't even like it. The remake of the Shining with Steven Weber. Now that movie was based on the book.
Also, it wasn't film at the Stanley Hotel. There wasn't ghost two ghost in hallway?

The fact that the director brought a bond between both Stephen King and Stanly Kubricks vision makes me appreciate this all the more. That long standing disappointment of Kings opinion on Kubricks work has always made me sad. I've read the books and seen the movies. They both were masters at their craft. And this brings it all together in a weirdly heartwarming way.

@@an-animal-lover 43 years went by. The Shining will always be regarded as a classic, but releasing it in today's market would have been like releasing a 1937-style horror movie in 1980. I'm not joking, this sequel was actually ON PAR with The Shining itself. It surprised the hell out of me given the stupid title. But it was super creepy and scary, the acting, scenes, and storyline were very good, and therefore I would highly recommend it. I still can't believe they actually managed to make not only a decent but an awesome sequel to the Masterpiece called The Shining. I might just watch it again soon.

I read both The Shining and Doctor Sleep books. I was hoping for a Doctor Sleep movie where they make it seem like we got a true movie adaption of The Shining and this Doctor Sleep movie is a sequel to that since I prefer the actual novel along with the made-for-TV miniseries more than the Jack Nicholson movie. But from the two trailers, I"m liking what I'm seeing with the changes they made to the book to make it a sequel to the Jack Nicholson Shining. And hearing the theme to The Shining made me smile and it does work/is fitting, plus gets me even more excited for the Doctor Sleep movie. I still like the Jack Nicholson movie though. I just prefer the book and miniseries more. The book is pretty much some extended cut of the miniseries, although the miniseries has some changes too from the book. Especially the ending where we see Danny graduate from high school and Jack shows up in ghost form to congratulate him and let him know he's proud of Danny. That ending is not in the book. Plus Doctor Sleep (the book) picks up when Danny is still a kid. So the miniseries ending definitely is just miniseries exclusive.

Haohmaru HL good point but some of the universe shouldnt be done. However a lot of it should be. And the gaps between them filled to show connections would be nice even if it’s not 100% as the words go on book. Dark tower wasn’t good.
The comic book movies are killers too and aren’t going 100% on the book either.
A KCU would be nice. Having penny wise as his human form when he was “ as the old lady’s daddy who came to America” we saw in part 2 show up on doctor sleep post credit scene would be devastating. Idk Danny shines and sees the clown makeup slip through the seemingly normal man. Maybe gets Danny to go to derry because third times the charm to lock him up and would be a total flip on book game changer.

In the book "Doctor sleep" the hotel is actually gone because it blew up in the first one, "The Shining" at the end but he does go back to the area where the hotel was towards the end of the book but the majority of the book is not at the hotel. However, in the movie adaptation of "The Shining" the hotel does not blow up at the end so it looks like he will be making s trip back to the hotel.

+LeeJ2512 At least Danny is not the only one that’s still traumatized by the events of “The Shining”. I’ve seen the movie a few times and I’m still creeped out! If you think about it, in a way, Danny and we as the audience are still coping with what has happened four decades ago which would hopefully serve this movie well in trying to get some sort of closure.

If the character is white in the book I want that character to be white in the movie, if a character is black in the book I want the character to be black in the movie. It's a nerd thing, not a race thing. I want everything to be as close to the source material as it can be. That's what most people want when they complain about things like that. This isn't a horror film like the first one & it's not supposed to be , if it was anything like the original , it would only disrespect the original film & try to out due it but they don't which is a good thing , this is a revenge film with horror elements & only ment to give u just enough nostalgia to appreciate the original even more but the main basis of this film is just to show u exactly what the Shining really is & the different types of psychic abilities every individual has in the world & to tie the loose ends of the first film that was basically just mystery about everything that happened & i think this film did a perfect job with explaining what the shining truly is & how it works without trying to out due the original masterpiece!!!! I love that they put enough pieces of the original into this without just making it feel like the same exact film all over again & they actually told the complete story & answered basically everything that the original didn't!!!! This film & Top Gun Maverick to me are the best sequels in the past 20 years & rightfully so especially considering both films were decades in the making & both of them flush out all of the answers the originals didn't tell us !!!! ❤
This film gets three ⭐⭐⭐ as a film & ⭐⭐⭐ 1/2 as a sequel!!!! I think is far as a sequel goes , its up there in the top ten best sequels ever even if its not in the top ten best films of all time its definitely up there with best sequels along with Top Gun !!!!! There isn't really too many films that can be close to as good as the original but this one definitely is in my opinion ❤
As far as best sequels go in cinema regardless if they are the best movies of all time or just the best sequels of all time.... Its definitely these films for me in no particular order :
    The Godfather part 2
    Terminator 2
    Aliens
    The Dark Knight
    Bride Of Frankenstein
    Final Destination 2
    Sicario 2
    Doctor Sleep
    A Few Dollers More
    Empire Strikes Back
    Top Gun : Maverick
If u know any films that u think are better as a sequel compared to its original film then post it below but this is definitely my top ten hands down 💯
