September - It: Chapter 2
October - Joker
November - Doctor sleep
Good job WB
All three films are great adaptations of Stephen King novels, whether we admit it or not.
This movie deserve more credit and money. It's probably one of the best horror this year. Save this movie guys.
Itll become iconic later like the Shining did. 1980 movie didnt either, price in 1980 5 dollars. I went to see it when it returned and a 1980 price .
This movie was/is outstanding! My son is 17 and never wants to rewatch a movie at the theater, but this one was it for him. We all wanted to press rewind and sit there to watch it again. I’m a huge fan of The Shining, so glad this second part lived up to the first one. 🙌🏾
@@panosdotnet I'm not an American & I'm a fan of the original... & I absolutely LOVED this movie. Wonderful, dark, deep, humanistic film. & absolutely & completely Stephen King.
I agree and it's a shame it bombed. Btw, did you know the director's cut is coming out this February?

@@BillyJack85 Yes i do get what you're trying to say. The difference here is that you have no idea of what you're talking about and i have first hand experience. It will be you that is on your knee's with a look of utter shock on your face. You think you know what the afterlife is which is based upon your woeful lack of knowledge of what the Bible actually says.
Your entire knowledge of the Bible is from listening to what others tell you it says. I have studied it as well as many other things relating to it for over 45 years of personal study. You have only what clowns in robes tell you without ever seeking it for yourself.
You think such a lazy approach to "seeking" is going to be rewarded? If you know anything of the Bible you would know of "the great deception" which will deceive "all but a handful". You would also know that upon the return of Christ (which is already here but you fail to recognize it) Christ says...
Matthew 7 :21-23
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
You are going to be on your knees groveling and it will not help you. You will say "but that is what i was taught" and the answer will be "you never really tried to find out the truth and only did what you thought would buy your way into heaven". It is you that is going to feel the flames of hell.
I just watched in theaters today! This movie was just perfect. The Audience was just wow
Just hearing that tune at the end gave me goosebumps.

As in the movie Doctor Sleep, we conquer our demons and lock them away... kinda like how Arch Angel Michael is depicted as conquering the Serpent. The Jedi Master wields the keys to those chains. He can unleash those demons on command and as it said in the movie...

For anyone wanted to see this movie it is faultless. I have chills throughout the entire film similar to how I felt during hereditary. One of the greatest movie plots I’ve seen in a long tome with superb acting. 10/10 I would highly recommend it.
I just saw it, and I have to say Bravo. Such a great cast and story, best movie I have seen in awhile.

Which I think is a re-imagined piece of classical music, if memory serves. As in, something played on brass rather than woodwinds for this version.
Just came out of the theatres, and DAMN that was a good movie, creepy and intense and full of some amazing camera work! I haven't read the book but a friend who I was with said it was one of the best book adaptations he'd ever seen.
Plus loved Rebecca Ferguson as Rose the Hat, she plays a brilliant bad guy.
@Awakened citizen maybe you should watch the movie before you judge.
I'm actually very against sequel culture (give it a rest Disney), and when I heard this was coming out I passed it off as just another boring rehash and wasn't going to see it.
Very glad to be proven wrong. This movie is not at all like the Shining, these trailers are pushing all the wrong bits forward and ignoring what the movie is really about. And the sites mentioning vampires? Bullshit. There are no vampires. This movie is its own beast, and is unlike any movie I have ever seen before. The few parts involving The Shining never felt forced, and were a natural part of the story. It truly was an incredible movie, the director clearly poured his heart and soul into it. It makes me kind of sad to see all these people judging it without watching, because this movie may never get the respect it deserves.
I saw the premiere with critics a week before it came out and wow I was just taken away one of the best movies ever
@joah45+ So did The Shining when it came out. Did you think The Shining was a flop?

One of the greatest sequels that nobody watched. It's a damn shame. It's right up there with T2, Aliens and Blade Runner 2049 for me.
If you think this film can be compared to 2049 then you have no taste in film how ever.
I almost didn’t recognize Ewan McGregor, his beard needs to grow more.
Ah yes, Jedi Kenobi needs a break before training young Skywalker, but first he must be granted as Jedi Master.
Danny got the high ground, thats why he's still alive
Captain Gree he got the high ground in more ways than one, and he chose life
Well, technically, he got the low ground to escape from the window, but whatever.
I almost had a heart attack at the Shining theme on the end.

2:05 Rare footage of Obi Wan losing the high ground
Obi-Wan doesn't need to be on the high ground, the high ground just needs to exist in the battle; Obi-Wan knows that when he has the low ground, he really has the high ground, from a certain point of view. Look at his battle record:
Maul: Has low ground, wins
Dooku: No high ground, loses
Greivous: Has low ground, wins
Vader: Has high ground, wins
Vader rematch: No high ground, loses
Obi-Wan with the high/low ground is canonically the most powerful Jedi. This is fact. Had Yoda not denied his request with typical Jedi arrogance, he could have beat Palpatine in the Senate building, which housed a variety of different altitudes; this so that the Chancellor could always have the moral high ground in Senate debates. But Obi-wan didn't fight Palpatine, and Yoda soon learned that you can't cleave the Sheev in a normal 1v1.
As we all know, spinning is a good trick. However, only the Chosen one can spin outside of a starfighter. Palpatine tried spinning, but he lost (but this was intentional, as losing gave him the emotional high ground when Anakin arrived). The reason for this is that spinning provides a yin-yang approach (based in Eastern philosophy on balance), giving the spinner the high ground from above and below. This is why Obi-Wan was so emotional after defeating Vader on Mustafar; he expected to lose the high ground to the spin, but Anakin failed to maintain balance in the universe, symbolic of his fall to the dark side.
Anakin doesn't hate sand for the reasons he told Padme; all Jedi hate sand, as the battlefield can rapidly change between low and high ground. This is the only reason why ______ killed ______ in Rebels. This is also why Obi-Wan hates flying; in space, there is no high ground as there is no frame of reference from which there is a high or low ground, due to the lack of gravity.
In ANH, Vader proves his newfound mastery by engaging Obi on perfectly even ground. However, he lets himself die on the Death Star so that he could train Luke from a higher plane of existence.
(Why was Vader so invested in the construction and maintenance of the Death Star? Because he knows Obi-wan can't have the high ground if there's no ground left.)
In Return of the Jedi, you can see that the Throne Room contains a variety of different altitudes; Palpatine placed these there to ensure Vader's defeat. However, Sheev failed to realize that his weakness was no ground, and should have covered that gaping pit that does nothing.
In conclusion, Obi-wan abuses spatial relativity and Buddhist doctrine in order to invoke his high-ground powers.
I thought this was just going to be a bad sequel to the shining... Boy was I wrong, this was really good 👍
Just watched this movie for the first time last night. I applaud the crew for such a great job at recreating those scenes from The Shining. I felt like I was watching a fan-made film at times. Loved it.
Oh boy, Director Mike Flanagan has a HIGH bar to clear to make this work...
Why? He needs only to stay faithful to the book (King's "Doctor Sleep"). "The Shining" was bad anyways. Good movie, but bad Stephen King adaptation.
@@thevoidbringer8925 incorrect moron, the movie is a masterpiece. and this is based off the book, it doesn't have to be completely accurate. also it has to stay faithful to the movie because it's a sequel to the movie.

@@jacopogreppi The upcoming Doctor Sleep movie is actually a sequel to the Kubrick film and not the Shining novel. The film is different enough from the novel that King disowned the film for changes for example here: Killing off Halloran (he is only wounded in the novel) putting the focus on Jack instead of Danny, and making Jack a less sympathetic figure among other things. And because of movie goers being more familiar with The Shining (film) the makers of Doctor Sleep decided to make it a sequel to the film rather than the novel.
@Noah Redding It's going to be more of a sequel to the film because that's what people want to see. And they already changed a bunch of stuff. For example here. Abra Stone is now a black girl...LOL! Not trying to be rude here but did you read Doctor Sleep? No spoilers but 90% of the damn novel takes place inside the heads of Dan and Abra including the "climactic" battle at the...well. Read it and see if it even translates to a screenplay? It does not.

I’m sorry I need to change these pants.
The trailer already had me hyped. I was like wow, this looks like it has excellent direction and tone. And then I saw Mike's name. This will be gold.
Yeah, but it looks like this is being presented as a direct sequel to KUBRICK’s Shining, but, having read both books and seen both versions adapted from the original novel, it would make more sense to have this be a sequel to the ‘97 miniseries IF they want to be faithful to the Novel Sequel, “Doctor Sleep”. The reason this is important will be predicated on one little spoiler:
You have to go with the original version where Jack died heroically resisting the ghosts long enough to blow up the place.
If Jack did not die a tragic hero, if he gave in like Kubrick rewrote him, then certain things about the sequel book would not make any sense for the film. Changing those is going to be very risky for the plot. The Shining and the Shawshank Redemption are the only two instances that major Changes to a King story that were just as good or better as the novel. Every other instance of significant deviation has been crap.
So, just be wary, is all. KUBRICK’s was just as good, but in a different way, I would argue. But the way he would have regarded his father growing up...
...well, I’m not getting my hopes up too much that they got it right.
...Rose the Hat is being played by a SWEAD? Aren’t there any good Irish Actresses?
At least McGregor will be on familiar territory as a heroin addict.
This is a great movie. One of the best this year, behind Joker. I highly recommend it to everyone.

I don’t know why,but the book always felt really uplifting for me and so does this trailer. Of course,in the scary spooky way,but it still makes me feel good.
The book is largely about the notion that we can get out from under our horror and our trauma-I felt like the film missed the mark somewhat because the ending was different but in the book, Danny consciously makes the decision to go from angry that he has to live with this ability to finding that there is a place for him and the shining in the world.
