Agreed I was a pearl fan for years and recently got a sonor and I can’t turn back never heard toms sing as good as Sonors and can’t beat that beautiful thudy kick drum
Wow. That Noble & Cooley is so unique. Notice how almost pre-eq‘d those toms sound, no harsh attack, just round and warm, but a satisfying fundamental note. Brilliant. The Gretsch Catalina is - as often - probably the value for money.
I agree I listened to every kit and I’ve never even heard of this company Very full sound,I have always played high end Pearl Kits but if I was in the market I would but that set Sonor kit for me was a little disappointing for me,they were always a secret weapon type of kit they always sounded good but for whatever the reason not many people played them I’d say around 90 they had a maple snare 6.5 X 14 that couldn’t be beat what a great snare that was! The Noble & Cooley Horizon kit was beautiful to look at as well as listen to and was number one for me as well (what little I heard of it, that 14x14 floor tom was great!). I wouldn't have believed that coated heads were getting that much "thump"! The two Gretsch kits also sounded and looked incredible. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year's to all of you at DCP!
Ooh, that maple Gretsch has excellent room presence. The Sonor is wonderful, I'm so used to the thick shells, these are so expressive and colorful. Gorgeous birdseye. The Noble and Cooley is clearly one of the finest crafted drum kits available. And it sounds just as good.
That Noble & Cooley kit looks rather stately with that mounting hardware wrapped around the tom shells. I can’t wait until my walnut NC kit is ready for pickup!! I also really enjoy the Sonor SQ2 thin birch kit. Good job, guys. 🔥

The Gretch Catalina are made overseas. So the quality that Gretch is known for doesn’t apply with these drums. Not saying they aren’t good drums but they’re simply OEM Asian built drums.
@user-jz5db7dh9l The Catalina is a quality set around the $1K mark with a good # of drums. Tama Superstar Classic is another. Yamaha Stage Custom Birch is probably the best kit in this segment. 5 piece kit for around $850. Add a 14" floor tom and an 8" and you're right around the $1150 mark which is a killer price and better than most of us had as a "beginner" kit when we were learning to play.
Great video as always. Great sounding kits. Inspires me to go tune up my kit and play. I'm jamming tonight with some guys and looking to have a good time Merry Christmas everyone. ✌️

Well I have been a drum nut for 60 years so I have to say all 10 kits look and sound great. I still have two sets of Rogers. One pre CBS and one after the CBS purchase. I thought the Nobel & Cooley Snare stood out. I wonder if it could out duel some Ludwig Black Beauty's? The Nobel & Cooley Rack Tom's sounded superior to the others. That may have been due to the unique off the top hoop, suspension mounting system. The Tom's were singing, resonating freely, with the mounting system being used. What are the price comparisons?
