    @EnterN4me I think you've got the point. CS5 and Painter12 uses graphic acceleration to renderize the canvas and it doesn't pixelate until you go over the 100% zoom, any new generation software is starting to use this feature. Almost any other software or prev. versions can't do this, they usually become pixelate at medium zooming level. For you guys asking about brushes he's using standard round brush and chalk brush as always (using the chalk to simulate little details in textures).

    well about ur first question he used the lasso tool to select the area and then he did ctrl T which is transform. When and object is in this state u can increase and decrease its size as well as stretching it. in this case he holds shift to keep the proportions but make it smaller. Hope it helped :D

    That is so true about game ADDICTION. Back in the days, I spent way too much time playing video games and not spending enough time to develop my skill. Now, I'm a professional designer, but not in the video game industry...a bit regret. :( Feng thanks for the video demos... that was very generous of you. Because of the videos, I'm now starting to do some digital painting on my spare time. It's very inspiring.Thanks!

    Shad3rr: The word "originality" does not fit the entertainment business well. A better word would be "marketability." Product and Ent are two very different industries. Is Skyrim original? No. But is it successful? Highly! Same with MW3, BF3, ME, etc. We work in a visual only industry driven by the market. Visuals which "sell" wins at the end of the day. Also, construction and work principles are only indicated but rarely required.

    @knozos On average a person functions best with 16 waking hours, so working longer than that might actually cause you to have mild sleep deprevation, and in my opinion, prevent you from doing your best work. Plus, it`s highly unlikely that you can work 17 hours straight. I mean we need to eat, take breaks and relax your eyes and stuff.
    But yeah, you should definitely get as much practice as you can.

  • @Criterion515
    @Criterion515 12 років тому

    @EnterN4me Unless you are printing something, DPI has no bearing on the way your image looks on screen. It is just part of the printing equation that gives the actual printed size of the image. So, for example, a 2000*2000 document will print twice as large at 150dpi than at 300dpi, but will be exactly the same thing on your screen. If you're getting pixelation, you're trying to add too much detail for the resolution. Make it bigger, or don't try to do so much on a small image.

    @thedevo01 I got to use a cintiq yesterday and it was freaking awesome. I don't see how the Intuos has any advantages over it. Other than that it is more widely used. I hear that drawing with a tablet is a major challenge and takes a long time to get good at.

    Awesome video, especially with silhouette. I try doing some on my own but after I block them out and going back into detailing them I can't figure out how I want it. Is it because I'm too attach to the silhouette or does it relate back to the fundamentals like you said? Thanks

  • @themalmana
    @themalmana 12 років тому

    I'm starting to learn all what can be learned from these design cinemas. Now just practise, practise and practise. I'm not interested in fundamental stuffs so much yet but the design itself is tricky. Best ideas comes when I'm trying to sleep in bed at 2 am. So is there any kind of mental practises you do for ideas and concentration? Besides coffee :D

  • @thedevo01
    @thedevo01 12 років тому

    @kevin71127 You'll need a High End monitor along with Cintiq because it's just a screen with a touch sensor, not a HQ screen. DELL U2711 is the one I'd suggest (better than an iMac). If money is out of the question and if it's the 24" Cintiq you're talking about, then fine, go for it. But tbh, that's a very amateur mindset; Each equipment is an investment though if it's absolutely sure you can earn 1.5x the price of a 24" Cintiq within a month, I don't see a reason why not to buy it.

    Two quick questions:
    1. At 08:56 what tool where you using there?
    2. You said that you used keys 1-9 to change the opacity of the brush, did you do that by creating a new action in the actions palette and then changing the opacity of the brush then finishing the recording and assigning the action to a key?

    Hey Feng Zhu,
    @15:15
    Quick question, when you start detailing the upper left bug what is the new brush you're using at that point? I see the chalk brush, the volumetric lighting brush, and the round brush, but there's a 4th "new brush" you're using extensively to detail the bug.
    What brush is it? What's the name for it? Is it a custom one?
    Thanks, big big fan of your work, I've watched every video since day one.
