Thanks! All the original specs were found by cross referencing various manuals from vintagemachinery.org. The motor specifications are usually labelled on the outside of any reputable electric motor.
Someone in my complex tossed one of these away and I got it. It's in much worse condition than that though. I know this video is pretty old now but it will be a great help in my efforts to bring this beauty back to life. Everything seems to work on mine but it's super rusted. I'll have to buy new knives too due to the chips.
Thanks for the video. I just purchased a Rockwell Beaver 48600 6" Jointer 2 hours ago. Amazing coincidence that you posted this video 6 days ago. Certainly saves me from a bit of head scratching! I'm looking forward to seeing your jointer cabinet video.
Wow! I didn’t think this video would be so directly applicable. Nice find! I just acquired the last of the materials for the jointer mobile base project . It’s unlike any I have seen and I will be uploading full build plans with cultists to accompany the video.
@@buildxyz Good stuff, buildxyz. I got my surfaces scrubbed up and applied paste. My paintwork is almost factory fresh, so no stripping required. I did notice that a few bolt heads are badly rounded on the cutter clamp thingy. My jointer came with a 1hp dual voltage motor made by Baldor.
Great video! I'm surprised that this doesn't have more likes, very high quality stuff. I recently was able to buy a jointer like this from a guy off the classifieds and am eager to get it running, I was wondering if you could send a link for the knob stl that you 3d printed as mine was broken and needs to be replaced. Keep up the good work!
Great job, I just finished cleaning a 12' Planner given to me that was rusty and not used for many years....now it works awesome...get sense of accomplishment
All my machines are Craigslist buys. I love getting a good deal on old, quality equipment! I went to buy a drill press and this just got “thrown in” for an extra $30. I use it all the time. It’s funny because I don’t like the drill press! (Not enough travel)
@@buildxyz that's awesome! I bought an old Porter-Cable plunge router from I guy I used to work with for $20 and he threw in a Bosch and a Porter-Cable sander for free! That Bosch 6" sander is a workhorse.
Awesome video! Where did you find the actual specs for the motor and pulley sizes?
Thanks!

hi..i made a safety guide after watching your video. Thank you for being an inspiration to me.

I love old machines especially wood working ones you did a great job looks like a beauty👍
Holy crap! Really well done on the video AND the jointer! Just picked up one of these myself!

A Baldor is a major score! Probably not original either.

Awesome! Bring it back from the dead! I too would like to upgrade my planer and would entertain rebuilding one.
thank you for this!!! picked up the same jointer , in need of much repair!!
Awesome! It’s a quality machine. I made a cabinet for it as well. There is a video covering it here: ua-cam.com/video/DAanzk46vwQ/v-deo.html
a completely personal idea but you could try to match modeling the printed knob like original ones. very good project, delightful color!!
Very cool restoration!! I was actually just looking at a similar Rockwell/Delta jointer/table saw combo on Craigslist this morning.

Hi, would you say this jointer is viable for a small production shop making hard maple countertops, or is it more of a hobbiest level tool? Cheers.
I have an offer in on the same jointer. Can you take a guess at the total weight? I'm trying to decide if 2 guys are needed to pick it up. thanks.
Hmmmmm, approximately 100lbs of pure awkwardness for one person. I definitely recommend a second set of hands :)
