No you misunderstood the moive. It was sh** It was from a sh** writer director. The plot was sh&*. The wtf am I watchin is sh**. The character developmeant was sh**. The afcting was sh**. No. This vidoe and the zack nub riding doesnt do it for me. Abnsaloutly fialure of a video. You are entitled to like garbge, but call this a good movie?DEAD WRONG! The ultimate edition...more of the same. Again, you are entiteld to like what you like but that was also sh**. Ultimate fail
Disagree, the theatrical cut is butchered version and makes it awful by getting rid of important context & important plot lines. The ultimate cut is the real movie and is awesome
Going to be honest at first i hated BVS but when i saw the Ultimate Cut my perspective changed and saw what Zack was going for... now i own some Lifesize cutouts from the BVS Ultimate Cut DVD promotions lol
BvS is a phenomenal film. The things that people complained about, the Martha scene, calling the creature that Lex created Doomsday when he literally created it during the course of events in the film, and we clearly seeing Man of Steel that kryptons Moon was already shattered, which means that Doomsday already existed in this universe, And Lex didn't say doomsday, he said "Your Doomsday", a reference to The original creature that he heard from the ship's computer while learning about Krypton. Saying your doomsday was specifically saying this was Superman's reckoning. Everyone calling Batman a murderer when those criminals literally put themselves in those situations. In the real world, a masked vigilante who's actually trying to do good doesn't have time to ensure that every criminal that's caring a grenade doesn't blow himself up accidentally. Batman handled everything in that film the way that a crazy person in a mask would and should. The way that Batman in that world should and I'm not mad at anyone who got in the way of his fist or the batmobile. I love that movie, the Snyder cut of that movie and to this day it's in my top five superhero films of all time... Man of Steel is in that top 5 as well.
First of all, what’s the point of making it actually not Doomsday when the creature did exactly what Doomsday did in the comics? Superman still sacrificed himself to stop it just like the source material…It was a clear adaptation of the death of superman and that was meant to be doomsday, end of story. I don’t care if Zack said on twitter that it technically wasn’t Doomsday, cause like I said what’s the point? Secondly, the criminals did not put themselves into these situations lmao. Batman literally gunned down multiple thugs chillin in their cars from his jet. Batman god damn branded people so they could get stabbed in prison too. What are u on about?
@lucasJohnGillespiebecause they didnt want to do the full death of superman story so they did this. its not that hard to understand nor is anyone forcing you to accept it so stop whining.
@lucasJohnGillespieChris terrio and David goyer wrote the film. That's who Warner Brothers hired to write the movie. If WB didn't want it to be the doomsday clone they would have hired someone else to come in and conduct rewrites. Zachlk didn't write the film, he only shot it. He could not make choices in the overall story, the best he could do was make his adjustments with the camera and in the editing process to shorten the movie when it was time for theaters. After Man of Steel Zack's plan was to go immediately into Man Of Steel 2 and have us focus on the remaining kiptonians in the Phantom Zone and take a dive into the Brainiac Easter egg and then almost immediately was approached by the studio to scrap all that and shoehorn Batman into the sequel. I get where you're coming from and I also wish that Doomsday was not any part of this film, they could have used so many other characters to have a similar impact and give Superman someone really formidable to fight, unfortunately, they chose to go this route and Zack did the best he could with the scripts he had to bring it to life, I don't blame him as much as I blame the writers and the studio heads. As far as those criminals, the way I see it, if you're murdering and trafficking and kidnapping, you're pretty much bringing whatever happens to you upon yourself. They didn't have to be in that warehouse with those guns about to kill Clark's mom. They didn't have to be running from Batman with radioactive material in the truck. They chose to live a life of crime and Bruce reminded them of some of the consequences Of those choices 🤷🏾♂️
@@kluneberg8952 They basically did death of superman. They had superman sacrifice himself fighting a big gray monster who was destroying the world. It was very similar. “They didn’t want to do the full death of superman so they did this.” Wdym, did what exactly? Have superman die fighting a big grey monster, but it isn’t technically Doomsday? Emmm okay, makes it a whole lot lamer but sure ig bro. If that helps you like it more fair enough, but it’s just dumb cause the creature serves the same purpose as the death of superman, killing superman 💀
@ First of all, ik it isn’t Zack Snyder’s fault entirely. I blame the writers for how dumb the movie is, but what we got is what we got and it was bad so 🤷♂️ Just because it wasn’t Zack’s intention, doesn’t make what it does wrong excusable. Secondly, Batman shouldn’t kill. Batman’s whole thing is that night in crime alley showed him how important human life is. His whole moral code is that if he kills, he is no different to criminals he faces. If batman has no code, his story suffers and he should kill anyone. If he kills goons who have families he should kill the Joker, if he kills thugs with mothers he should still kill superman despite him having a mom. However, if he does kill it should service the story. Though in BvS it doesn’t! Remove Batman’s murders then nothing changes, if anything it improves the film and makes that Martha moment hit harder? because it reminds him that superman isn’t an alien, but a boy with a mother and he doesn’t deserve to die. “They choice to live a life of crime”. What are u saying? Some people become criminals because of the way they were brought up, or for money reasons, etc. Not everyone who is a villain is evil, Batman doesn’t look at good or bad as black & white, just look at character like Mr. Freeze who is simply trying to save his wife. Batman shouldn’t kill random thugs who are guarding Lex’s ship? He could incapacitate them instead of killing. Suggesting “oh they were in the way” is nonsense. The grenade moment I’ll allow, but him blasting all the cars outside the warehouse bruh 💀 As well as him dragging a god damn car and using it to crush other cars?
I'd still call it a masterpiece in the sense that Snyder Took what WB mandated as far as putting together the Justice League in this movie. And made it amazing. Even with having to focus on all these different story lines.
People in this movie forget tha Bruce kinda Blamed himself for his Parents dying. He views every human he rescues kinda like his atonement. Thats why Lex sent him letters saying, "You let your Family Die" that really got to him, andwhen someone says "You're letting them Kill Martha", when his whole character motivation is to NOT let Martha die again.... it just makes too much efin sense
@lucasJohnGillespie regular thugs kill regular people with families. they don't deserve happiness and most likely are hurting their families. cope harder.
@@zeeski7454 He shoots people who are in a car, the car rolls everywhere until it’s entirely squished, then Batman runs over it with his Batmobile and it explodes. He blows up a bunch of people outside the warehouse from his jet. I could go on, but can’t be asked but if you can’t remember maybe rewatch the movie or watch a clip of UA-cam idk
It should have opened with Thomas Wayne saying save your mother and Bruce living with the guilt of not saving Martha. Then have Superman saying save my mother triggering Batman to see him as human.
This movie was a masterpiece. I doubt we will ever get a movie like this again. I doubt not see any director from outside the genre ever will to take the risk because of fanboy criticism.
I never understood why people people clowned on the Martha thing so hard. Also, the 10% = certainty. I feel like I was watching from a different universe.😅
I agree if you don’t like the movie fine we are all entitled to our opinions I personally love this movie but what I can’t stand is people telling me it is objectively bad and if I like them I’m not a dc fan. But there is no such thing as an objectively bad or good movie.
@ that’s fine you’re allowed to not like it I respect your opinion. I love the movie and I was excited to see the conclusion to the story that was being told. And the original ending to the entire snyderverse would have been cool to see. It ends with the flash movie where it’s revealed that the reverse flash was the cause of everything he was behind the scenes pulling the strings. Being the cause of DARKSIED coming to earth and basically being the reason the events of the snyderverse happens. It would have been cool in my opinion
Batman V Superman is actually not a movie to turn your brain off to watch. It is an art piece that has a lot to say all covered below amazing visuals and sound design
I think BvS becomes a much better film when connected with Snyder’s Justice League. Especially in regards to Superman’s death, which I thought was contrived and cheap the first time I saw it but made more sense in context with where Snyder was taking the overall story. Also it made Batman’s optimistic and hopeful character shift more gratifying after seeing how lost he was in BvS.
Snyder’s JL while decent honestly made me dislike BvS even more, because it suggested those dream sequences aren’t actually dreams but visions of the future. Suggesting superman automatically turned evil after Lois died and that Batman carries guns with em 24/7.
@@kluneberg8952 Don’t care. Injustice sucks too. In kingdom come the joker kills Lois and superman doesn’t kill him. So…🤷♂️ Also how is Darkseid controlling Clark? What by placing his hand on his shoulder?
@ with the anti life equation dummy. clearly youve never read the comics or paid attention to the movie. lol you also keep deflecting when your criticism doesnt hold water. he does in injustice but doesnt in kingdom come. guess what? those are elseworlds comics with different writers and different stories. this is its own story. stop whining.
@lucasJohnGillespieHe was influenced by Darkseid’s use of the anti-life equation, which Superman was more susceptible to because of the death of Lois Lane.
Mate, I've just got to say thank you for all your acknowledgements in the first 2 minutes. You've gone a long way to help me be open to listen to your perspective. Because you're 100% right in saying that this movie does have its merits. It has many. I think it's hard when strong fans will not acknowledge the general consensus, accuse you of being paid by Disney or that you're a Marvel fanboy. So mad respect for you bro. So when I say I hate the movie, I must admit I saw on Opening at midnight, then went camping immediately afterwards. I had spent three years marking off a calendar and was the biggest supporter of this film. Honestly, whilst watching the Metropolis scene, I thought.. wow.. This could be the best superhero movie ever. And then the rest happened and it seemed to lose all sophistication whilst presenting itself like it was a masterpiece commentary. It was ironic in the proper sense of the term. I agree with a lot of what you say, however some of the flaws were a non-negotiable for me.
Bro people were also saying mos is equal to morbius 😂and Bvs is equal to madam webb i don't know how 😂. But really loved batflek was good like that warehouse scene really looked like arkham game live action and i wish nolan had that action in his batman i mean bale emotional acting was good but fight scenes were below average 😁
Eisenberg is not playing Lex Luthor, but Lex Luthor Jr and as such he is actually a great cast if you look that character up. Other than that great video. BvS is my favorite superhero movie because of it's feel. I think DCEU could have been bigger than it turned out to be and DIFFERENT from MCU if let Zack Snyder continue his thing.
@BalashToth I never understood why people like the so-called professional critics wanted DC to be a clone of the MCU in those years, DC has created darker stories than Marvel in comics, added to the fact that they are competition because they must be in some way different.
Why didn't Batman kill Superman quickly First there was no guarantee the first attack would land and be successful Second and most importantly Batman wanted to make Superman SUFFER. Love it or hate it he was sadistic and wanted the alien/god to pay for all the perceived trouble he caused and he wanted to show the triumph of man "you're not brave MEN are brave"
No. If you want to be an "artist" don't do a commercial art project with characters who have been loved for decades, and people expect to be portrayed and characterized the way they have been established to be for those decades. It's an absolute garbage Batman and Superman movie.. maybe if Snyder took a risk and did a Watchmen style thing where he called them something else it would be a tiny bit better (but still need an hour cut off the runtime.)
It’s the Snyder haters that are ruining my joy for the character. They’re going out of their way to tell people Snyder sucks on tiktok and social media with James Gunn Superman trailer. I love Superman and all the iterations of the character. Same with Batman. We don’t own these characters and it’s so condescending and hypocrisy of telling people who Superman is and how we who like Snyder, don’t understand Superman. The whole point of Snyder Superman is he is his own person and can make his own choices. He’s not to do, what we think he’s supposed to do or be.
@vietnameeseguy I totally agree, that's why I refuse to watch anything related to DC in the following years, James Gunn and his cult only managed to turn DC into a bunch of conceited toxics, who call Snyder's fans toxic just to cover up for themselves, they are not DC fans, they are fans of a mistaken idea of who Superman is and of a director
This movie is just a mess… it tries to do way too much and fails at everything, Batman is a nice attempt but the facts that he kills, and the only reason he does js becuse Snyder thinks it looks cool is just awful. It was never properly addressed either in the movie… Also the final nail for batman to kill superman was a nightmare vision, like for some lunatic series killer, the fight itself between Batman and Superman is awful as well, you mentioned Lex and Wonder Woman, they are bad too. This movie is actually very much like a comic. A very bad comic from a beginner writer
6:21 thats from the ultimate cut tho. 17:37 yeah.. except, we dont know if Doomsday is going to stay calmed on that little island, ... and Metropolis is RIGHT BEHIND HIM. but man overall nice video ♥. its very cool to see more positiveness. It was nice to hear you, even if we can have some differences or not, its always awesome when art creates more space for conversation. Have a cool day.
_Sometimes the director gets to make changes to the script, but in this case, the writer got what he wanted in the contract and Zach could not make any changes or at least the changes he wanted to make in the script so he had no choice, but to work with what was there?_
Yea this movie is probly my second most disappointing movie of all time after the Matrix Reloaded. And both because of hype, an epic trailer and bad choices / decision making. For this movie that Batman warehouse scene is the greatest comic book action scene lol. But Lex!!! Horrible. Flash horrible. Cyborg look!!! Horrible. Doomsday!!! Horrible. And again Lex! Zack S has absolutely horrible taste and I’m glad he’s gone. I love man of Steele but after that he went down the drain.
If you haven't seen the Superman: The Animated Series 3 part crossover with Batman, Lex Luthor, and The Joker, then you really need to. It's from Season 2, and the 3 episodes are called World's Finest. THIS IS WHAT WE SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN
@lucasJohnGillespie Absolutely. I am speaking objectively too. In other words, I am not saying that because I loved the movie, which I most certainly did love BvS, but it is a masterpiece because of its writing, acting, storyline, and themes within it. The movie is objectively a masterpiece.
I know a lot of people hate the "Martha" scene, but I had no problem with it and understood its purpose. Nevertheless, like Mickey I also agree the scene probably could've been executed better to avoid people harping about it. Despite this I love this movie even with the flaws I could see because overall it had great moments. To each their own I guess.
12:17 How does saying Martha not make sense Does Superman know Batman thinks of himself as a hero? YES Would a hero care about the welfare of a random woman? Yes Would your murderer care about the welfare of your mother? Probably not So why the fuck would you bring your mother into the convo with your murderer? If anything that might shut down all possibilities of her rescue No you tell the would-be hero he's about to let an innocent die (Your mother is guilty by association. This really shouldn't need explaining but here we are)
My issues with BvS. They shouldn’t have killed Jimmy Olsen. Why do that? Respect these characters. The scene were Batman and Superman meet was cool but did Superman just not see the gunfight that had just happened? He couldn’t tell those were criminals? There should’ve been a short impromptu team up where they take out the criminals first and then Superman is like we should talk and Batman ignores him and starts try drive away, then continue with the scene where he rips the doors open on the Batmobile. Much better. Then the scene where the capital building exploded and Superman just stands there feeling sorry for himself. I mean he has super speed. Could’ve had a QuickSilver moment and at least saved SOME people…I mean he just stands there crying…wtf?? This should’ve been the greatest hero movie ever, and poor choices killed it. Even Lex wasn’t that bad it’s just the overall feel just takes away the nostalgia of Batman and Superman.
The best scene in the movie is when batman was waiting for superman and he was so sure that superman will show up because apparently superman has nothing to do except being obsessed about batman and also lex somehow knew that batman will use the signal to get superman attention. Stupid movie
BvS ultimate edition is a PERFECT MOVIE. My second favourite movie ever. So deep, emotional and the ending, so hopeful. I disagree with your "hatred" for Gal's wonder woman (You're just wrong about her acting) and Lex's "bad casting" And i feel Superman has plenty to do, but I'm glad you like the movie.
Fantastic review. It's so refreshing to hear one of my rare fellow individuals who acknowledge that this movie is largely crap but love it for what it does well regardless. However, quite interestingly, I both love and hate the writing more than you do. Let me explain. I have grown more and more annoyed with this film as time goes by. Writing is my main thing. I love all aspect of filmmaking, but writing is what I know, and the more I analyze writing in movies and try to write myself, the more I can't help but notice and be bothered by how terrible the film's entire plot is. I used to completely overlook it and just praise what I love, but lately I find myself describing the movie as more bad than good, in spite of how much I love the good within it. And a big part of that is because of the incredible potential the bad writing wasted. However, even though the bad writing bothers me more than you, I found it interesting that you dismissed the writing as almost entirely bad, when the parts I love the most come down to writing as well. As a whole, the plot is messy, convoluted, and contrived nonsense, but there are some brilliant moments. Batman's arc in this story demonstrates a deeper understanding of his psyche and motivations than I'd seen before Matt Reeves, though it was sloppily executed, and Zack's love of machine guns somewhat undermines it. Like you said, Superman has nothing to do for most of the movie, but I do really appreciate the direction they tried to take him, facing the ridicule and persecution of a terrified world as he can't avoid causing problems however good his intentions. I love the philosophical, almost theological contrast between Batman, a godless man who's dedicated himself to making good in an evil world by punishing the wicked, and Superman, who represents the spiritual idea of a higher good, and what this conflict says about these characters and everything they represent. There were some truly profound ideas that went into this movie, but they were never done justice, and that's why it frustrates me so much. I loved Filmento's video about how the conflict between David Goyer and Chris Terrio in the writer's room, and neither being able to do their own thing thanks to the studio forcing them to turn a Man of Steel sequel into a battle royal and then turn that into a prequel to Justice League, all resulted in the mess we got.
Totally agree. BvS is the only film (along with MoS) that we can justifiably nitpick to our last days but are special in an imperfect way. The only film I have the art book and BD for despite not owning a player or any means to play it. The things that are dumb in this film! Oh boy have we got content to make lmao.
Thank God, I agree with you. I thought I was crazy for loving this movie. You have no idea how people look at me when I say "I love it. It's a good movie". XD
Personally I love the movie and my friend who is a super fan of the most recent Dune saga, compared this work to the Snyderverse mentioning that Zack was betting on a complex superhero cinema being a very strong counterresponse to the MCU, that Zack Snyder's only big mistake was not putting more pressure on Warner to release BVS with its extra 30 minutes in theaters, and from there you set a precedent to the public that DC will not be the MCU, if perhaps they would not have filled the 100 million dollars that the company was hoping for, but at least they would not have lost hundreds like what happened with TSS and The Flash, I simply feel very disgusted that today DC is going to become a flat and boring copy of what Marvel Studios once was just to satisfy annoying Snyder's X haters, instead of treating this brand as it deserves, with that Nolan level that had DC in high prestige in the 2000s. Today I doubt the Snyderverse will be restored, but I hope that when James Gunn's boring universe is cancelled, another reboot will be presented and that Nolan aesthetic that DC needs so much will return. Thank you Chris Nolan, Zack Snyder, James Wan and Todd Philips for bringing me closer to these DC characters
Zack & Ben’s Batchase & Batbrawl is the best live action Batman scenes ever captured 🗣️BAR NONE!! Complaining about the body count in 2024 when every live action Batman film has fatalities is…weird
As an alternate universe, not a bad movie (probably as good and bad as the Star Wars prequels), but if DC wanted this to be their definitive versions of Batman and Superman, boi they screwed up.
I do think Affleck's Batman was solid. I really wish we had a chance to see more of him. The suit...before the armor suit, was fantastic. It felt like a body glove or pair of sweats to me. It wasn't a bulky ugly plastic molded suit like Superman. I hate Superman's suit. Fucking ken doll, I swear. The armored bat suit was okay...it doesn't make a lot of sense, it's not very mechanical or "powered" like in the comics or like it would need to be to stop Superman. But that's ok. This was a very good batman, the rage...that anger was palpable. Fantastic!
God I hate Gal Gadot as ww and eisenbergs casting too, they were so miscast, good observation on bvs mickey, I really think gunn is gonna give us a good real worlds finest movie with batman and superman
This was the grestest comic sequel....an alien messing up the city fighting with his fellow aliens in part 1....a vigilante is not impressed.....comes out to question him about it
Yes.. that movie was absolutely amazing... 2 Jesus characters realizing their shared bond... both having the same mother named Martha aka Mary Magdalene.... beautiful script... dope action... best looking Batman Ever... fuck anybody who disagrees 💯
I just wished they added 1 or two more scenes like how Clark Kent finds out about Bruce's Mom's name is also Martha so that it would make more cohesive. Don't get me wrong the "Martha" scene was brilliant, and I wonder if Amy Adams' Lois Lane have always known who Batman is cuz she talked to him like she knew Bruce as if they dated before she met Clark.
If Lois knew Batman was Bruce Wayne, then likely Clark told her after he figured it out when he heard Bruce speaking to Alfred while at the party held by Lex. Jmo.
Listen I'm gonna be completely honest. I know this is a bad take, I'm aware of that, but I really love Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. Yea her acting is ass... but she looks amazing in that suit
Yeah, but no. That’s an insult to the riddler as a character. The riddler is meant to be smart and calculated. Two things BvS Lex is not. Lex is just confusing and not in the smart way like Riddler. He goes from trying to expose superman as a fraud to the public, but then just wants to destroy the world by the end ig so there can be a big monster fight? He also tries to frame superman by implying he used bullets and explosive chairs to kill people? Things superman would never need to do because he’s god damn superman!
@lucasJohnGillespielol he discovered batman(riddler never did) and Superman's identities. kidnapped martha without superman knowing about it. manipulated the government. easily used and understood alien technology. "not smart" lol. he didnt blame superman with bullets he blamed him by burning the bodies to make it look like laser vision. the bullets were literally said in the movie to be special and unlike regular bullets because it looked like shrapnel. you didn't pay attention to the movie, did you?
@@kluneberg8952 First off, it doesn’t even show you how he knows Batman or superman’s identity. It’s off screen which is god damn lame. Second, the fact superman couldn’t hear Martha being kidnapped but could hear Lois drowning, falling off a building, and in trouble all the way in a completely different country. Again dumb. “Convinced the Government”. What with Jolly ranchers? I mean yeah he did do that, doesn’t make it not stupid dough. Also even if the bodies were burnt to look like superman’s doing, the corpses would’ve still had bullet holes. You trynna convince me that people believed it was superman? The only way that would make sense is if superman used guns, but we know that’s stupid cause he doesn’t need to. Lex is dumb because his plan makes no sense like I just explained.
Batman v Superman is not good..Worlds Finest could’ve been it after 2 or 3 Superman films including JL. Batman fighting Superman is lame and boring. A normal man fighting superpowered being who don’t want to harm anybody is not a good idea for a film, which make it boring for people to watch or believe that could actually happened. Give Superman a real challenge/ threat maybe another superpowered being to fight..Darkside, Doomsday, Brainiac, Metallo, Black Adam.. they gave him Batman lol 😂😂
G'day it's Steven from Sydney Everyone is entitled to their opinion and there is no right or wrong, unless of course you have a weird bias or are incapable of being objective. However this is a thoroughly enjoyable film, and far more superior in the extended version. Clearly in typical Warner Bros fashion they meddled and inflicted pain in this film's production. I definitely would've enjoyed seeing more of Ben Affleck's character development, there simply wasn't enough of Superman in it, Gal Gadot was alright and I love Wonder Woman's music score, the most cringe character and the worst casting "ever" was Lex Luthor without a doubt. The DCEU should've been completed WITHOUT Warner Bros constant meddling, we had a lot to look forward to and there was no need for a reboot, the actors and their characters were established and very popular, but sadly in yet another incompetent decision Warner Bros hired a dubious B-grade director with well documented anti superhero comments to take full control of DC studios and so far what we've received and are seeing in the future is, well, mehhh. I'm staying open minded regarding Superman Legacy ( or whatever it's called today ) because I'm a huge "theatrical Superman" fan since Mr Christopher Reeve's portrayal of the first and greatest superhero known to mankind had convinced us in 1978 that a man could actually fly and be our beacon of hope. I'm not excited and I'm definitely concerned to see a fully CGI mutt-like "super-dog" that wears a red cape for goodness sake, and that also runs to Superman's aid instead of flying to him. The dorky nonsense 1970's style heroes with dumb hairdo's are a complete farce no matter how you look at it. I'm extremely puzzled that there's a giant animated Godzilla-like monster in a Superman movie too..."really"?. Plus that ill-fitted baggy cosplay costume with the inbuilt adult diapers is just a disastrous decision, it does not represent Superman whatsoever, he has never worn pajamas and the Gunntists need to deal with reality and stop making excuses about this MCU inspired costume. Furthermore Warner Bros have severely divided the DC fandom, instead of bringing everyone together and valuing the opinions of the fans that pay to watch these movies over and over again at cinemas, they stupidly double down and continue to go in the wrong direction. Look out the Gunntists are lurking and ready to pounce. Gunn + cultists = Gunntists
You can’t come at James Gunn for making front of superheroes when Snyder has done the same? Snyder literally said on Joe Rogan that Superman as an idea is dumb. Both of their statements are fine to me because superheroes are naturally a bit silly, and I feel like getting upset at either Gunn or Snyder for these claims are naive. Respectfully, suggesting James Gunn is anti-superhero is just stupid imo. Just cause James Gunn said superheroes are a bit dumb doesn’t mean he doesn’t respect the characters and cannot make good movies with said characters. Plus, if Gunn is a B level director then Snyder is a D level director imo. I feel like Gunn has proved he can make good superhero films. Well, at least ones that have been liked by critics and audiences unlike Snyder. Having more comicbook like designs or having an odd ball character like Krypto be apart of superman movie isn’t concerning to me in the slightest. If anything it fills me with hope that Gunn will in-body the natural silliness of the comics. To many superhero films try disassociating themself from the material it’s based off, and Gunn seems to be embracing the comics with its Silver age characters and sci-fi elements.
Doesn’t excuse the fact his plan literally makes zero sense. What is his motive? He’s just a crazy dude? It don’t matter if he’s Lex or not it’s a beyond awkward performance.
@lucasJohnGillespiehe wants superman dead to protect the earth and wanted the other big hero to do it to destroy his character so he had no moral standing. Lex wants to be the top dog without superman and batman in the picture to stop him.
@@kluneberg8952 Well it is stated officially that his father is Lex Luthor and that he is Lex Luthor Jr. But since he is Zack Snyder's interpretation of Lex Luthor that is why they settled with that name in the credits.
@@kluneberg8952 It was clear he had no control over Doomsday? What would he have done if Batman, superman & Wonder Woman died? There wouldn’t be a world for him to be a top dog off anymore lmao. It makes no sense that him combing Zod/Luthor’s DNA would create that thing in the first place. It is just nonsense. Why did he use bullets to make it look like superman killed all the people at the beginning? Please stop. It’s fine if you enjoy it but stop defending the idiotic plot man. Come on.
@lucasJohnGillespiemore like the dark knight trilogy is overrated. i loved those movies but the older i get the more i hate elbow combat and whiney batman. chris nolan also needs a new editor cuz those movies and his newer ones have weird pacing and convoluted plots(scene structure). edit: and a new sound engineer cuz you can barely understand what his characters are saying.
@@kluneberg8952 I can understand finding them overrated. I kinda do to, especially dark knight rises that is mid at best. However I’ll take some silly voices and some lacklustre combat compared to the inconsistent characterisation, idiotic plot and awful interpretations of beloved characters that BvS did. At least Nolan’s first two Batman films had good stories unlike the disaster that is BvS. However, you finding TDK trilogy overrated but loving BvS does make me think ur taste in movies is…questionable Edit: How are they edited badly? Maybe some hand to hand action but besides that, I think the editing is great. Especially the dark knight where its editing helped create so much tension throughout that film.
That scene of your letting him kill martha is logical... To the screenplay writer, but ti the viewers it is not. What superman should have said was you letting him, kill...mom. your letting him kill my martha. And BOOM!!!! Batman snaps back to reality, he rage fades. But what i do not agree with is bringing Lois lane there... Like no, no,no,no....she is a fucking reporter. And a love interest. Not a refree to super poweres battle royales
It’s dumb still because why would this Batman care? He’s a murderer who happily kills thugs who probably have families. Why would he care if superman has a mom? He views superman as a threat to the universe, him having a mom doesn’t change anything unless this Batman wasn’t a psycho who kills.
@lucasJohnGillespiebecause him having a mom means he was raised on earth. he knew about superman and the galactic danger(not the everyday criminal thug because superman hasnt directly killed innocent people thats why he says if there is a 1% chance) he brings but he didnt know about clark. it means he was raised on earth and cares about an earth woman who's his mother. he realizes clark kent isnt a threat to the earth.
@lucasJohnGillespie exactly.. Which brings us back to why the screenplay writers decide to make Clark mention his mother, because even if he said your letting them kill my mom. Like why should batman care.but to say those words. Martha.... That will stop batman in his tracks for sure. The issue is it makes sense from the writers side of the story, but the execution from the viewers side of things it doesn't really stick to the landing quite well. I mean narratively it's a solid but seeing it happen nahhh
@@kluneberg8952 A lot of people become criminals because of their up bringing, money issues, etc. It’s not black and white like that. Superman is nice and has a mom so he’s okay. But the guards ordered to protect Lex’s ship deserved death cause the dude they work for is bad? Awesome, cool bro. Makes sense to me. Who cares that their moms will be devastated lol. If Batman has no problem with doing that, why would he spare the Joker or Lex. There is no moral conflict.
@@kluneberg8952 Still has murdered thousands. He literally jumped over a truck and let it blow up a building instead of catching it. He literally threw Zod into multiple buildings.
I like the idea of it but the execution is awful. The scene is like if they just wrote down a good concept for why they would stop fighting then just didn’t develop it any further.
Everyone is great Jesse eisenberg played a horrible lex and gal gadot to me is just hot and looking pretty I don't want yes i want a nice looking person to play her but the heroic god side needs to be there
Interesting so you think BvS is a better movie than The Snyder Cut? That's interesting I've never heard that take before. I do enjoy both movies. I just think at the end of the day what it came down to was presentation. On paper this could have lead to becoming Counter Programming to Marvel. In some ways it kind of was if they weren't Fox & Sony were. Going from Iron Man to Civil War would not have worked if those were the first 2 movies. People know Batman people know Superman and there was always this debate as to whether or not to mess with the source material. I saw these films as Elseworld Stories they didn't have to be a representation of the comics because they can always do that later just as Gunn is doing now.
@ZomgRuler Gunn's is the least faithful to what DC is supposed to be, starting with class B characters (Peacemaker or Creature whatever his name is) is the wrong way to start a universe.
Should this have been a batman solo movie? i wouldn't have minded. Should it have been a 2 parter? maybe. Should it have cut doomsday, again wouldn't minded. But what it is, I don't hate. Now that I'm older i do think its silly to think any movie is considered a masterpiece especially a superhero film (sit DOWN dark knight fans). It actually does make you think deep with its questions; How much power is too much? Is power really innocent? is anything really neutral? I like the symbolism of the characters that being Lois wants to get down to the ugly truth, batman represents the beautiful lie, superman is the beautiful truth and Lex is the ugly lie. Side note if your a Christian you can answer lex's question of "if God is all powerful, He can not be all good and vice versa" is easy and as simple as HiSHE's Batman gag - He's God, He CAN be both. also the action scenes kicks civil wars out of the water, warehouse scene is a 10/10 fight on its own.
Oh no I'm not giving them a chance. I'm done dc . After Cavill was announced as being back then a few weeks later, on my birthday he was announced as not being back . Gg I'm done. Idc if DCu is good or not. I will not see anything in Theatres done by James Gunn's DCU. Ill see Matt Reeve's stuff. Other than that ill see Marvel.
Nah. It's understood perfectly. "It could have been great if" if fun speculation, but only that. You gotta deal with the movie that actually exists, and that movie is a big ol' yikes.

The theatrical version was still a good movie but the Ultimate Cut takes it to another level of great.
100%
Disagree, the theatrical cut is butchered version and makes it awful by getting rid of important context & important plot lines. The ultimate cut is the real movie and is awesome
Since superhero movies in general are typically safe. Zack Snyder took a risk but the critics and fans alike hated him for it.
@@Lansone21 really I haven't seen the ultimate cut, but I've seen the director's cut though
Absolutely
Going to be honest at first i hated BVS but when i saw the Ultimate Cut my perspective changed and saw what Zack was going for... now i own some Lifesize cutouts from the BVS Ultimate Cut DVD promotions lol
One of my favorite movies ever. I'll defend it till the day I die.
@@kluneberg8952
They basically did death of superman.
@
First of all, ik it isn’t Zack Snyder’s fault entirely.
You would maybe think after witnessing his parents die he’d value human life a bit more? Instead of killing regular thugs who probably have families.
@lucasJohnGillespie regular thugs kill regular people with families. they don't deserve happiness and most likely are hurting their families. cope harder.
@lucasJohnGillespie who did he kill directly? I'm not talking guys that throw a grenade at him and he kicks it back at them
@@kluneberg8952
That’s true. I’d agree, but Batman’s whole thing is that he doesn’t kill. Why he not kill the joker or Lex then?
@@zeeski7454
He shoots people who are in a car, the car rolls everywhere until it’s entirely squished, then Batman runs over it with his Batmobile and it explodes.
It isn’t objectively bad, nothing is objectively bad. But I can’t lie I truly cannot stand it 😭
@ that’s fine you’re allowed to not like it I respect your opinion.
Spanish speaking people call this movie "un manivela de cerdo" which directly translates to Hog Cranker
Batman V Superman is actually not a movie to turn your brain off to watch. It is an art piece that has a lot to say all covered below amazing visuals and sound design
The Ultimate Edition is amazing
@lucasJohnGillespie injustice superman turned evil right after lois died. also Darkseid is controlling superman in the knightmare so try again.
@@kluneberg8952
Don’t care. Injustice sucks too.
In kingdom come the joker kills Lois and superman doesn’t kill him. So…🤷♂️
Also how is Darkseid controlling Clark? What by placing his hand on his shoulder?
@ with the anti life equation dummy. clearly youve never read the comics or paid attention to the movie. lol you also keep deflecting when your criticism doesnt hold water. he does in injustice but doesnt in kingdom come. guess what? those are elseworlds comics with different writers and different stories. this is its own story. stop whining.
@lucasJohnGillespieHe was influenced by Darkseid’s use of the anti-life equation, which Superman was more susceptible to because of the death of Lois Lane.
The Ultimate Cut made me APPRECIATE it. But I still had some issues with it. And why’d they kill off Jimmy Olson like that… that was crazy
Imo BVS is a criminally underrated DC film.
@BalashToth
I never understood why people like the so-called professional critics wanted DC to be a clone of the MCU in those years, DC has created darker stories than Marvel in comics, added to the fact that they are competition because they must be in some way different.
Why didn't Batman kill Superman quickly
First there was no guarantee the first attack would land and be successful
Second and most importantly Batman wanted to make Superman SUFFER. Love it or hate it he was sadistic and wanted the alien/god to pay for all the perceived trouble he caused and he wanted to show the triumph of man "you're not brave MEN are brave"
6:20 those eggs look fake as hell 😂
@vietnameeseguy
I totally agree, that's why I refuse to watch anything related to DC in the following years, James Gunn and his cult only managed to turn DC into a bunch of conceited toxics, who call Snyder's fans toxic just to cover up for themselves, they are not DC fans, they are fans of a mistaken idea of who Superman is and of a director

Batman also says, "The port is abandoned," after bringing Doomsday to the city, so it made sense.

Come on man. A masterpiece?
@lucasJohnGillespie Yes!

You don't know what hack means
12:17 How does saying Martha not make sense
Does Superman know Batman thinks of himself as a hero? YES
Would a hero care about the welfare of a random woman? Yes
Would your murderer care about the welfare of your mother? Probably not
So why the fuck would you bring your mother into the convo with your murderer? If anything that might shut down all possibilities of her rescue
No you tell the would-be hero he's about to let an innocent die
(Your mother is guilty by association. This really shouldn't need explaining but here we are)
The only thing good about this movie is the warehouse fight scene...
Ooooooo nahhhhh
I unashamedly love this movie. Always have, and always will.
Twin Perfect's amazing videos analysing BvS should be watched by ALL Snyder haters.
HELL YEAH it is
The best scene in the movie is when batman was waiting for superman and he was so sure that superman will show up because apparently superman has nothing to do except being obsessed about batman and also lex somehow knew that batman will use the signal to get superman attention. Stupid movie
BvS ultimate edition is a PERFECT MOVIE. My second favourite movie ever. So deep, emotional and the ending, so hopeful.
I disagree with your "hatred" for Gal's wonder woman

and Lex's "bad casting"
And i feel Superman has plenty to do, but I'm glad you like the movie.

I still don’t understand the hate on the Martha scene.
BvS really sent the comic fan against each other.
Love this movie, especially the extended one. Very misunderstrood.
Batman v Superman is my white noise background noise at home.

As an alternate universe, not a bad movie (probably as good and bad as the Star Wars prequels), but if DC wanted this to be their definitive versions of Batman and Superman, boi they screwed up.
DC was clear that all their movies are elaeworld versions, including Batman 89 and Donners Superman.

Fantastic!

Jmo.
@@puichiung2959 thats not bad bro. I like it!
Listen I'm gonna be completely honest. I know this is a bad take, I'm aware of that, but I really love Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. Yea her acting is ass... but she looks amazing in that suit
Hot také - but I really like Jesse E. as Lex Luthor.. Not like classic Lex, but as a different villain. You saying Ridler - I agree
@@kluneberg8952
First off, it doesn’t even show you how he knows Batman or superman’s identity.
Lex is dumb because his plan makes no sense like I just explained.
yes to everything you just said!
G'day it's Steven from Sydney
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and there is no right or wrong, unless of course you have a weird bias or are incapable of being objective.
Eisenberge isn't playing lex luthor.. he is playing lex luthor jr.. check out his version of the character from Superman birthright- it's exactly him
Doesn’t excuse the fact his plan literally makes zero sense. What is his motive? He’s just a crazy dude? It don’t matter if he’s Lex or not it’s a beyond awkward performance.
@lucasJohnGillespiehe wants superman dead to protect the earth and wanted the other big hero to do it to destroy his character so he had no moral standing. Lex wants to be the top dog without superman and batman in the picture to stop him.
he wasn't lex jr. if he was the credits would say lex jr.
@@kluneberg8952 Well it is stated officially that his father is Lex Luthor and that he is Lex Luthor Jr. But since he is Zack Snyder's interpretation of Lex Luthor that is why they settled with that name in the credits.
@@kluneberg8952
It was clear he had no control over Doomsday? What would he have done if Batman, superman & Wonder Woman died? There wouldn’t be a world for him to be a top dog off anymore lmao.
It makes no sense that him combing Zod/Luthor’s DNA would create that thing in the first place. It is just nonsense.
Why did he use bullets to make it look like superman killed all the people at the beginning?
Please stop. It’s fine if you enjoy it but stop defending the idiotic plot man. Come on.
Yes it is misunderstood. The Dark Knight Trilogy and The Batman are also misunderstood.
How are they misunderstood? Aren’t they beloved films by critics & audiences?
@lucasJohnGillespiemore like the dark knight trilogy is overrated. i loved those movies but the older i get the more i hate elbow combat and whiney batman. chris nolan also needs a new editor cuz those movies and his newer ones have weird pacing and convoluted plots(scene structure). edit: and a new sound engineer cuz you can barely understand what his characters are saying.
@@kluneberg8952
I can understand finding them overrated.
However, you finding TDK trilogy overrated but loving BvS does make me think ur taste in movies is…questionable
Edit: How are they edited badly? Maybe some hand to hand action but besides that, I think the editing is great. Especially the dark knight where its editing helped create so much tension throughout that film.
Batman v Superman is a disappointment. >___>
@lucasJohnGillespie exactly..
@@kluneberg8952
A lot of people become criminals because of their up bringing, money issues, etc.
@@kluneberg8952
Still has murdered thousands.
He literally jumped over a truck and let it blow up a building instead of catching it.
He literally threw Zod into multiple buildings.
The movie is fantastic
I also love the Martha scene. Always have. Always will.
Always
Why did you say that name??!!
Scene is dumb. It would make more sense if Batman didn’t kill in the movie or if he stopped killing after that moment. But he does both.
@lucasJohnGillespie why?
@ZomgRuler
Gunn's is the least faithful to what DC is supposed to be, starting with class B characters (Peacemaker or Creature whatever his name is) is the wrong way to start a universe.
You gotta deal with the movie that actually exists, and that movie is a big ol' yikes.
i like the dark knight trilogy but Ben Affleck is the BEST BATMAN!!
As someone who loves man of steel, i think your reaching with this one bro. This film minus that warehouse scene is complete ass.
No...? It's not only not a great movie, it's needlessly pretentious.
It's perfectly understood and its objectively trash. Poorly written, edited and disrespectful to the characters.
Amen to that. Huge DC fan and I loathed it
It’s objectively your opinion and I subjectively disagree on every level
