This full teaser confirmed my suspicions about James Gunn's approach. Before I get to that, let me talk about the suit. In the on-set pictures, it looked awful, with it looking rubbery and prone to folding in all the wrong places. The suit looked a lot like Gunn's version of the Guardians of the Galaxy suit (the Guardians' suits were nothing like that in the comics), but with a cape. Gunn supporters were convinced that it would come together, but now that we have seen more, it is clear that it is not happening. First, the suit doesn't fit well. Look at the scenes in the snow where the collar is all bunched up, creating a gap at his neck. But the second thing is, I realize that the real purpose of it was to make David Cornsweat appear larger than he actually is. Now let's get to the rest. James Gunn's approach is to pander heavily. It is a very calculated move on his part. Firstly, he is heavily leaning on the John Williams score and that is to appeal to that audience that really only knows Superman from the Donner films and not from the comic books. Second, the fonts in the teaser are very similar to those in the Christopher Reeve movies. Definitely more pandering there. Third, noticed how Gunn's Clark Kent seems a bit bumbling in these shots. It's like Reeve's portrayal, which raise some eyebrows. If this is where he's going, it just reinforces the idea that he's brown-nosing those who are not knowlegable of the comics. Clark Kent wasn't a bumbling fool at the Daily Planet, in the comics. The Donner movies made up the bumbling Clark Kent. In the comic books, Clark is a regular person doing his job. Remember, back in the day he was called "the mild-mannered reporter." Zack Snyder's version of Clark Kent was the first live action theatrical movie that matched the comics of that Clark Kent exactly. Even Christopher Reeve didn't like playing Clark that way and expressed his frustration about it over time. He's even on video saying this. If Gunn decides to go this route, it seems like he's catering to a specific crowd that doesn't know the comic book roots. This feels like a bit of a cop-out for someone whose fans keep claiming he's supposedly a talented filmmaker. Gunn's pandering shows that he's trying to make up for his lack of filmmaking talent. And don't be surprised if Gunn goes even lower and includes some subtle digs at Zack Snyder for even more pandering. Gunn does nothing but shift away from the serious tone of the original comics and make everything into a jokefest, which is what his old boss Kevin Feige was and still is pushing for at the MCU. The new Superman movie is aimed at people who've never opened a comic book and only know him through the Donner version, or only know superhero movies from growing up watching the MCU stuff. This group has been misled to think that superhero movies should be $200 million hipster comedies that make fun of superheroes rather than honoring their legacy.
Wait. You're right. That's where I've seen this weird military uniform suit style before. Starlord wears the same suit in the comics (blue with red). I knew this looked familiar. Also the fit is all over the place. Look at the scene where he's holding Lois and floating up there's a still of it out there somewhere...his leggings are rumpled as if the pants don't fit. Also the shorts aren't tight...they're just weird almost skirt like loose shorts. So weird.
The fact you call superman comics serious and say GUNNS isnt accurate is astounding. Snyder literally admitted he didnt even attempt accuracy. He had batman kill for fucks sake
I don't vibe with the Gunn sense of humor but this looks good. I'm more worried about it being bloated with 3-4 different storylines instead of the Superman storyline and the Lois&Clark storyline. The actor looks great though, anyone who refuses to acknowledge that is delusional.
THANK YOU!! I have watched so many reactions to this trailer that said this movie looks garbage, that it looks silly, that its a bad superman movie look, but that makes zero sense to me. THIS IS SUPERMAN!! He is hopeful, a lil silly, but has hope and optimism and believes in a better future. I dont get these people who say it looks awful, it just feels like they are fake superman fans that dont actually like the superman character, but like zack snyders superman and are upset he is gone. He did a great job with what he had control with, but not everything needs to be dark and serious and realistic, sometimes you need a hopeful and optimistic hero to fight the darkness in this world. Thats just my opinion but this movie looks incredible!! Btw love McDonalds too so no shame 😂😂😂

As much as I’ll miss Henry Im absolutely loving what Im seeing from David’s performance. It looks so much better than I imagined. 2024 has been a relatively rough year for me so Im really hoping this film can restore some of that back for me and for everyone else who are feeling like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Also the Williams theme never fails to give me goosebumps 🔥
omgs, that preview SUCKED. was that torturing cats used for music? 30+ characters? Luthor manipulates form the sidelines while aliens invaDE earht - that was the last superman movie storyline. The actor playing "superman" walk around like he has shit in his pants.
There's no 'cats' here nor 30+ characters. You r seeing things. It's cuz of u glazing over Snyder's statue the whole day at his shrine that's making u talk like this. Bud, it's time to move on. Or plz get yourself a doctor's appointment. This level of worshipping a human is not healthy. Respectfully sayonara!
How miserable are some of the comments here! This trailer is GORGEOUS, it takes me back to The original 70s Supes, but I also see The pulpy action from the old 1940s Max Fleischer 's cartoon serial, just setting in the New Millenium...The best scenes; Krypto, and The kid raising The Supes flag!
I can't say I'm super (heh) interested in this, although the music does hit right. I've realized recently that a lot of movie scores don't feel the same as they used to, at least to me anyway. I know it's hard to compete with some of the composers who've come before, but there's an emotional quality missing now. Like as much as I've gotten burnt on on Star Wars, that opening blast of trumpets and horns still gets to me.
Have to kinda disagree with you on this one. Superman, Lois and Lex look fine. Why they have all these other characters jammed into whats supposed to be the first movie in this rebooted universe is beyond me. This feels like its the 3rd or 4th entry of this new universe not the 1st movie 🤦🏿♂️ Should have just been a year one story.
I personally disagree. I think bringing us into an established universe was the way to go. The beginning of a new universe doesn’t mean Superman has to be at the beginning of his career. Marvel has destroyed people’s perception of superhero team ups. They can also be supporting characters like literally any other movie
@demialabi4942 ok valid but then why call it a Superman movie if he's gonna be teaming up with other heros? The movie is called Superman not Justice League. I'd figure they'd want to flesh out their version of Superman first before throwing in other heroes. But idk it just seems like more of the same from Gunn. Hopefully I'm wrong but we'll see.
@@xx_cloud_xx5055 All of your concerns are valid so I totally get it. Gunn has stated in an article that this will not be like his previous films. He is including more heroes so that he can highlight the duality of Clark’s life by showing us who he is with his human peers vs who he is with his metahuman peers. By juxtaposing Clark’s mentality with other heroes it emphasizes why he is unique and what makes him standout. It’s called ‘Superman’ because it’s to show why even in a world with a thousand heroes he’s the one the world needs.
I just have one thing to say. Can we please... PLEASE stop with the slowed down "nostalgic" theme music in movie trailers that are the umpteenth installment in a long running legacy IP? When I hear familiar movie theme music played in a sad slow tempo it's not making me nostalgic, it's making me cringe straight through the bottom of my chair at how manipulative these trailers are trying to be...
Gunn can do what Snyder can't. Gunn can do funny goofiness (GotG!). Snyder can only do dark goofiness (Watchmen, 300, BvS, etc, ad nauseum). Superman has a long, goofy history, but has never been a dark character. If anyone can get back to Superman 1978 and move the bar forward, in a way that rings true to the legacy, it's Gunn.
It's obvious you never read the comic books. You're just repeating what you've seen others say online. You actually wanting a movie to go back to the Donner movie gives it away. What Gunn is doing, and it's clear from this trailer, is to pander heavily to people like you who don't know comic book Superman. Gunn also does that to make up for his lack of filmmaking talent since you will fall for it without questioning it at all. You treat the Donner Superman as if it's the source material for Superman when it's not. That was a fairy tale version of Superman. It's not comic book Superman. Zack Snyder's Superman movies weren't "darker" they simply took themselves seriously which is how the comic books are. You don't know that because you don't read the comic books.
@@NomadFlow What's your deal. You're criticizing a person about something they don't even know. That's like having a argument with a mailbox about what time the train arrives. Go drink a glass of milk or something, relax.
Well, I'm excited. No signs of the origin story. Although the Martha and Jonathan Kent story...we could probably do without. I recognize Gunn may use it as a turning point, Johnathan dies and it teaches Superman a lesson or something. Ok, sure. Krypto...I don't know. It's not a "dog" as it's a pet from Krypton. So, it has the same abilities as Superman. It's supposed to be able to fly so I don't really understand the weird trail of snow/dust from the dog super running to Superman's side but whatever. Maybe a CGI dog flying around looked too ridiculous. And frankly, a super speed running dog did too which is why it's occluded by snow/dust or whatever. We will have to wait and see if we get more.
All they really need to do with this movie is not insert modern political messaging every other scene and it should be alright. Hopefully they make Louis more likeable and don't pretend her job as a journalist is actually super important. Also if James gun turns it into a joke a minute like Guardians it will probably be rubbish. I can already see him doing it with super dog, breaking the tension far too early with some barely worth it gag.
He’s actually made it clear the film won’t be as comedic as his previous films and that it will focus on Clark Lois and Lex. The other characters are written to serve the narrative like Black Panther in Civil War.
Hope you doing good bro. Based on the trailer, the story seems regressive. Instead of seeing superman become something more than the "man of steel", or the "farm boy" we spent decades learning about. They just went all the way back to the beginning. To tell the exact same story we have seen in movies, comics and all these various animated adaptations. Alien grows up on farm, alien kisses reporter, alien becomes superhero. Lex Luthor hates alien. We already know all of this, seen all of this, experienced all of this. Just the exact same story with a different aesthetic. It's like the character never grows or evolves. Stagnancy. At least that's my perception.
Rumor is the story is like a reverse kingdom come with superman vs the elite kinda line. So like , what differentiates sups form other heros & is his altruism better other characters cynicism. So at least not done in live action. So yeah, I’m allowing myself to have high hopes
🤦🏽♂️ ffs wtf was that cringe? Laughably horrible cgi, the trademark 360 spin around fights which hopes you won’t notice the bad choreography, the bad color scheme, a weak Superman that got the Yancha treatment, the horrendous cgi shaggy krypto. The Hawk Tuah flight cgi was atrocious. Oh and that Superman suit was NOT fixed in post like the shills were swearing. Noticed the world is ending and Superman is not only slowly putting on his boots like that first reveal, but he’s actually chilling with Lois. Wtf The only good part was saving the girl. Lotsssssssssss of slomos here but now it’s a good thing🤣
After a certain age, seeing a grown-ass man wearing capes and running around becomes childish and hilarious. How many reboots of the same characters do we have to see until enough is enough
@alejandromolinac I like superhero movies and even I agree with the OP here. Nothing really matters anymore because every movie has to have a formula and a pattern to it now, it's boring. The last one I really liked was "Logan" and that was awhile ago.
Nonsense. Zack Snyder movies' did have hope. The problem is, people like you who don't know the comic books need to have all of the pandering of the Donner movies in order to spell it out for you. The Donner movies are not the source material. It was a fairy tale version of Superman. It's not comic book Superman. Zack Snyder's Superman movies weren't "darker" they simply took themselves seriously which is how the comic books are. You don't know that because you don't read the comic books.
That's a lie most y'all don't even watch it cuz you're so focus on superficial stuff that y'all really don't know nothing most y'all don't even read the comic books watch any material outside of the movies which all acclaimed y'all know so much And guess what they tried it it was called Superman Returns and guess what most y'all didn't show up for that movie and that was literally the sequel to the original Christopher Reeves Superman movies
@NomadFlow man of steel is real deal, thank you for your explanation 🙏 👍 no Henry cavill no superman, f this looked at suit and goofy bowl cut green lantern plus alot of super hero in there .,I don't know about you friend I already boring this kind of child super hero move..😊😊😊
So it looks like James Gunn's strategy is to basically pander heavily and make this movie Justice League straight out of the gate. Which is not surprising since the only successful superhero movies in recent years have been team up movies, so this approach was to be expected.
@@chris11420 Depends how one defines team up movie. Some would claim Spiderman No Way Home and Deadpool and Wolverine aren't teamup movies, when who are they trying to kid? The whole selling point of those two movies is not only to have them be teamup movies, but also teaming up with people's nostalgia.
@entertainmentfan1463 You Snyder cults r losing ya narative. Ya'll are making no sense whatsoever 😂..We loved 'man of steel' and we MOVED ON. Wait & watch, this film, becoming a summer blockbuster next year..Ya'll are beyond saving 🤣
He literally said that the only reason there's more characters is because this is happening in an already established universe but the movie is going to focus solely or more on clark, Lois, and Lex
@@Plen4 I'm not a Snyder Cut fan LOL. Just pointing out the obvious that James Gunn is basically using the same bait tactic as Marvel which is turning everything into a mini Avengers movie since those are the only superhero movies that's been doing well in recent years.
I just saw the teaser a few minutes ago, it looks so good I’m looking forward to seeing Superman (2025) in the theaters I have a feeling this will be a great movie, if it turns out to be genuinely great I hope it will be successful in the box office, I sense hope, determination, and optimism from this film, Synder’s Superman was the exact opposite just dark and gritty, kinda dull too that’s not how Superman is, and the haters need to be quiet, hating just to hate like stop that (especially the Synder fanboys) give some things a fair chance, Henry Cavill is not coming back please move on already he’s not the first actor to play this character and won’t be the last either so give the new guy a chance I think he’ll be good, i believe in James Gunn too he’s a visionary, can’t wait to see the official trailer in the next few months 😊
I watch a lot of your videos and I agree with a lot of the things you say, but not this one. And I am not a James Gunn hater or a Superman hater. I just feel that this looks really childish, especially that part with the freaking Godzilla monster I think right there is when I was like NAH I’ll pass. No, it doesn’t look horrible. It just doesn’t look like it’s made for me. I’m 40 years old. This looks like I would’ve loved it when I was 12. Now I liked Man of Steel and I felt that was a great foundation to build off but unfortunately, everything that followed after it got worse. BvS is still to this day one of the worst movies I have ever watched because of some of the horrible decisions they made. Lex Luther alone was enough for Zack to be banned from DC projects. This looks more in line with a fun Saturday morning cartoon. And I can’t blame them for taking this direction. They’re going to sell lots of merchandise.

Hahaha love the trailer . I am pump for it ❤❤❤❤
MICKEY! this joint was a HOG CRANKER! Mate, Caked to the CLOUDS!
🤣
Please don't delete your channel, I really like hearing what you have to say! Especially the whole "Mickey C at Mickey D's" thing, at least it's something different than the average pop culture review channel
@Nate2.4 The best reply to these Snyder cults😂..I can't reading this 🤣
Big Macs and Superman. Gotta love it.
True
Have to kinda disagree with you on this one. Superman, Lois and Lex look fine. Why they have all these other characters jammed into whats supposed to be the first movie in this rebooted universe is beyond me. This feels like its the 3rd or 4th entry of this new universe not the 1st movie 🤦🏿♂️
Should have just been a year one story.
7:46 He usually comes with baby Superman to Earth
That's an old dog
Hi Mickey!
I can see your view point. True true.
It is not that deep 😂
It is fiction, and you're taking this very seriously like find wisdom on real life not with a comic book character 😂
Rumor is the story is like a reverse kingdom come with superman vs the elite kinda line. So like , what differentiates sups form other heros & is his altruism better other characters cynicism.
So at least not done in live action. So yeah, I’m allowing myself to have high hopes
Crazy if the Trailer is even better bru
this movie about to be peakkk
It's Not Henry Cavill.
It's Not My Superman
🤦🏽♂️ ffs wtf was that cringe? Laughably horrible cgi, the trademark 360 spin around fights which hopes you won’t notice the bad choreography, the bad color scheme, a weak Superman that got the Yancha treatment, the horrendous cgi shaggy krypto. The Hawk Tuah flight cgi was atrocious. Oh and that Superman suit was NOT fixed in post like the shills were swearing. Noticed the world is ending and Superman is not only slowly putting on his boots like that first reveal, but he’s actually chilling with Lois. Wtf
The only good part was saving the girl. Lotsssssssssss of slomos here but now it’s a good thing🤣
After a certain age, seeing a grown-ass man wearing capes and running around becomes childish and hilarious. How many reboots of the same characters do we have to see until enough is enough
Oh look….. the sneering type who’s all so above everything ….. glad we know what’s hilarious cause you say so….
@alejandromolinac Oh look... . . the crying type who gets so butthurt about everything ..... glad to be of service.....
@alejandromolinac I like superhero movies and even I agree with the OP here. Nothing really matters anymore because every movie has to have a formula and a pattern to it now, it's boring. The last one I really liked was "Logan" and that was awhile ago.
Well, I have no faith in Gunn with this one but I am hopeful
James Gunn's Superman has what Zach Snyder's didn't: Hope.
Look like a tv show
So it looks like James Gunn's strategy is to basically pander heavily and make this movie Justice League straight out of the gate. Which is not surprising since the only successful superhero movies in recent years have been team up movies, so this approach was to be expected.
It's not a teamup, he cleared that in a statement, those are characters actually relevant for story, this is still majorly a superman movie
Looks horrible, no thanks, it will flop
This lex Luther looks lame 😒
Womp womp
Gun ga and you ga . Go watch your self this goofy lantern/ trash suit . This is baby 👶 donkey 🫏 superman 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
As long last some color for a superhero movie not all grey and dark
Mickey C and Superman inspiring me to hit the gym🏋🏾♂️🔥💪🏾
Stay on that fast food grind.
Too much over saturated blue hue in Color grading. Vey distracting.
This looks hookey and goofy afk, acting is a little rough
Yeah this looks tough! 🫡
The tom holland of superman😂
Ur so beautiful 😊
Too Woke meh 😕
How on earth is this woke. Tell me right now.
i don't support Gunn's shit movie^^! not gonna waste my money to watch new panty superman in cinema
I bet you'll watch it
I watch a lot of your videos and I agree with a lot of the things you say, but not this one.
This is child superman. Super dog trash suit and goofy green lantern . Bruh. No thanks. It's boring. Gun ga🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 Henry is real deal🫡🫡🫡😎
Are you a caveman? Do you not know full sentences?
I don’t know about this ????
Snyder is a visionary and Gunn is a hack
What a vision Rebel Moon was huh.
@ Yes, you simply don’t know how to look at meaning through image.
