    Not a fan of the Rock but, there's something to be said for a BABY youtube channel with LESS THAN 5k subs trying to talk smack about a big celebrity. Basically you can't tell if the criticism is genuine or if this lame channel is trying desperately for a "hate-by-association".

    Let us not forget that he also partnered with Oprah Winfrey to start the people's fund of Maui.Ironic, seeing as he plays Maui.And Moana, but they also scammed all of their donors.And ran with the money and people still don't know what they did with it. He's just a jackass and a horrible Is the person who deserves no more respect which sucks because I grew up loving him. It's not racist to hate the rock. In fact, I think it's quite healthy. Okay, maybe not that far because it's not very Christian of me, but it's not racist to dislike the man and the fact that they're making a live action. Milana movie is stupid and shows that Disney has run out of ideas to the point where they won't stop until all their movies are live action. And they're losing money over and over again, which is fine with me.Because they can burn for all I care

    Mickey C I also feel like the rock intentionally has tried to morph his career into Will Smith, but bigger. That is his template. He even says it. The problem is that he doesn’t have the talent and charisma that Will Smith had to reach that level of movie star. The Rock is a try hard.

    • @SpiritBox01
      @SpiritBox01 29 днів тому +2

      That would explain why he has been pushing his Samoan heritage more and more in recent years. Will Smith and Denzel Washington are the black A-listers and stars that that community gravitates towards. Rock didn't necessarily have that for a while because he wanted to make himself more apolitical and racially ambiguous, where earlier in his wrestling career he emphasised his black roots more. He is such a case study on how wanting to fail at capitalising on a group you are apart of. He's definitely failed at it.

    • @silversoulken
      @silversoulken 28 днів тому +1

      @@SpiritBox01 And even still to add to your wrestling point, its only brought up as brownie points to make HIM look good lol. Any real wrestling fan from back in the day, and somewhat aware of stuff from just a few years ago, knows that WWE never hardly ever acknowledged Rock as a black/African American WWE champion. Maybe like two times from Jim Ross very early on when he won the belt for the first time but thats it, legitimately. He never made himself, the character, out to even BE a black person anyway, so much so that decades later we all know Kofi Kingston as the first ever black/African American WWE champion.
      So basically to add on to the other comments as well, yeah he always has played the racially ambiguous card to benefit him haha

    This is an obvious statement but the rock became super famous in a timeframe where society in hindsight became dumber and more aesthetically driven. The rock is only successful because he is a big muscular man. That is it. He runs off the modality of just intimidating audiences with masculine bravado built on his muscles. Beyond that he calculatedly tries to become something he isn’t. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone have already shown a path to him but his ego makes him want to be even bigger.

    The problem with Dwayne Johnson as well as several "Big Name Celeb-Actors-Filmmakers" is that their talents are slowly becoming nothing more than a gimmick. People like Dwayne are mentioned to be the world's highest-grossing/paid actors, which represents their greatest in Hollywood. But that couldn't be farther than the truth. Any half competent actor/filmmaker that knows what type of movie audiences want to see can be far more memorable than what Dwayne has given us. Had it not been for his reputation, than the dude probably never even had a chance with most of his movies getting the viewership they got.
    Great actors and filmmakers are talented and intelligent to understand the flow of audiences and not only be able to give exceptional films/TV, but control the flow of such audience and exploit the weaknesses of other bigger celebs style and ethics, that you'd hear more buzz about those films and shows, compared to another.
    Now that may not make sense, so let me put an example:
    Say at school you notice so much buzz about the #1 student in your grade that everyone hails him as a popular prodigy, who's so amazing, yet during some competition, they get an opponent who while has some notable strengths isn't that known for being popular. And yet, somehow they managed to beat that popular student. THIS, is the issue with Dwayne and other "Big Name Celebs" and why their talents are simply gimmicks.
    Okay, inheriting fame from family, being a famous athlete, a vocal musician/singer, or possessing some talent that immediately gets you media-famous, will distinguish you from your peers when you're young. It gives you an INNATE strength. But that strength has a sealing. Celebrities like Dwayne have a proclivity to be hailed as geniuses or prodigies when they're in billion dollar movies. But is there ever one today famous worldwide for his/her multiple movies? Earning a recognition for their characters? Being recognize from playing so many different roles, without it feeling off?
    Dwayne is barely above average when it comes to his reputation in Hollywood. He's only known for his movie net worth because that's the problem. Once others can train and catch up to him, Dwayne's talents and abilities are nothing but a gimmick. You can find better shows or films, compared to his that tell such stories far more exceptional, featuring actors who either were in action movies, or started out in a different genre, but turned to action. That's why most celebs with having one memorable talent are casted in such film or shows and nothing else, and if they did try, they suck. Because that's the best usage Hollywood has for them. It doesn't matter how long Dwayne trains, practices making faces to charm people, or says whatever one-liner a thousand times. He will never come close to how he wants to be recognize, as he mentions in his Oppenheimer comment.
    With that said, I'm not saying that celebrities' talents are worthless. They're just gimmicks. Gimmicks can be useful but SOLELY RELYING ON THEM will get you stuck in mediocrity. There is a limit for the amount of power a celebrity with such a reputation can achieve. Which is Dwayne's biggest problem himself. That's because he refuses to learn other acting skills and techniques that aren't related to what he's famous for doing, apart from the most basic ones, he can easily learn from any director who makes the demands for his/her cast. This ignorance from Dwayne always making demands of what he wants out of his characters, like he's trying to maintain some kind of purity in Hollywood is pathetic. That's why people like me despise these kinds of celebs. And Dwayne is the worst of them all.
    Even the best action stars you hear about either today or from the past weren't that strict when it came to their movie choices or acting style. And sometimes, people forget that they would star in such projects that defied most people's expectations. Those are the kinds actors/actresses/filmmakers, who's talents were worth preserving. But people like Dwayne Johnson don't bother learning other acting skills, from fear that it will somehow taint their precious persona.
    It might be true that some aren't as inherently skilled when in comes to their roles in film or tv. But that hardly matters. To all future actors or popular folk in some other field like sports or music, who seek to break into acting, understand this:
    When I tell you have more potential than people like Dwayne Johnson, I mean as AN ACTOR. A FILMMAKER. Not as WHATEVER PEOPLE ONLINE KNOW YOU FOR. If you branched out and actually certain skills to act that suit your talents, using your gimmick when it's worthwhile, you would become FAR MORE INFLUENCIAL ANYWHERE. You would attain the skill to be in any movie, show, or even video game, without feeling miscast, earn an audience, and being just as famous.
    And it's certainly possible to learn this. Just not from celebrities like Dwayne Johnson.

    I don’t hate any actor, but something about the Rock makes my skin crawl. I really HATE the Rock, and I can’t figure out how he gets so many roles. He sucks as an actor, and when he’s in a movie then I know it will suck. The only Rock role I like is Moana, and it is because it’s funny hearing him act like his narcissistic self.

    I think you should address the ego that he brought with him to his most recent run in wrestling as well. There’s a whole big story there. He actually thought he was gonna strut right in and steal a main event match and an opportunity away from another individual who deserved it much more, and that everyone would be fine with it. Then when everyone shit all over it, the company had to pivot and he made it seem like the pivot was all his idea. There’s an hour-long documentary about it. Check it out.

    When the Rock actually puts in the effort to become a character, he does pretty well. But I, like many, am going through the Dwayne-archetype fatigue. I respect the heck out of him and he helped make my childhood more fun with his WWF/WWE legendary persona. But that ego is big enough to fill the grand canyon. More humility will do him some good.

    At 3:36, you said, "He's not like me; I'm chaos walking." Let me share something you might not fully see yet but will become clearer with time. You think you’re different? You’re not. That belief-that you’re somehow set apart, unique in ways others aren’t-is a common illusion we all entertain at a young age. As you grow older, you’ll realize that 95% of what you’ve thought or felt has already been experienced by countless others. The places you go, the things you do, the words you say-these are paths well-traveled.
    Life, for most of us, follows a remarkably similar pattern, with only a few brief exceptions. So instead of fixating on being "different" or comparing yourself to others, focus on living well. Be the best version of yourself, let others live their lives, and embrace the journey. And remember, you’re still young, with so much to learn. Step away from the mindset that you’re somehow outside the fold. There’s freedom in understanding that we’re all part of the same greater story.
    And for a side note…. Thinking ahead is usually a GOOD thing. Find a little forethought and you’ll be grateful for it.
    If you don’t like an actor, stop focusing your efforts and energy on hating on others, and go watch something or someone else.

    Rock only strives to be the biggest movie star of all time. Part of his plan to achieve that is obviously being fake as hell and engaging in product placement and advertising all over his social media platforms. Yes he makes B movies at best and his most successful movie run was when he was part of a franchise he obviously didn’t start in (Fast and Furious), but hey at the end of the day I guess I’ll respect his hustle 🤷‍♂️

      Actually it’s inaccurate to make Maui a big bulky dude, he was described as a teenage to young adult sinewy young man. At least in the Hawaiian mythology I know. He’s in other pacific folklore as well. In my opinion, he wouldn’t have been arrogant like the Moana one, he deadass tracked down the sun and lassoed and yelled at him for not staying up long enough for his mom to dry her textiles during the day since the sunlight was too short. That’s why sun stays longer in summer and slacks off in winter, there was an agreement. He went fishing and pulled up the islands of Hawaii, bruh. Lore accurate Maui is a savage I love him
