This is just too much fun, to see Rob and Austin performing Nessun Dorma, and sounding so good! Their voices always blend so nicely in their a capella country songs, and boy do they sing well together here too ☺. It is never as good to listen to them without getting the embellishment of your beautiful analysis, point by point, with your video examples so that we can understand what you are hearing and explaining so amazingly!! I always enjoy listening to Elizabeth and Julia and Maggie Renee, but even more so with the insights you offer from your contemporary vocal technique expertise 🥰! Thank you again, so much Anna!!!
I am Italian e i confirm they have done a great job with pronuciation. just a bit "strange" how their double consonants sound but i don't mean they are doing wrong because theese very little imperfections make all performance true and charming. so Clever choice not to go too high to give us a marvellous rendition of this song. A bow in front of them 🙂 and thank you again Anna
I really enjoyed your reaction and analysis. This is my first time on your channel. Austin had to talk Rob into doing this…he (Rob) was a little nervous about how fans would react and hadn’t sung opera in 15 years. But Austin wanted the world to hear Rob’s magnificent voice, and I think he succeeded. Thank you for reacting to this.
I don't know much about opera. What I do know is what sounds good to my ears, and this sounds so good to me. Is it opera? I don't know, but to me it's really great singing. The climax sounds glorious.
I'm so looking forward to this reaction.. Home Free and its members are by far the most versatile a capella group I've ever heard, and now branching out into about everything especially since they became independent from the record company that ' restricted' them to mainly country. They're still solidly country based and obviously great at that and loving it. They can be deadly serious, goofy, nerdy, or outright hilarious but their music quality never suffers. The only objection one may have is having to rewatch and relisten to their videos several times because there is just too much happening at the same time. Austin may hit a lovely high note at the same time Tim decides to threaten an unsuspecting listener's subwoofer with total demolition or Adam Rupp throws in a beatboxed drum roll or sound effect that makes you think WTF was that ?... gotto go back to that!. And that is without the distracting visual goodies they sometimes deliberately smuggle in there. Or there is some harmonizing going on that is so very good ... you simply HAVE to hear it again. And now Opera?!... never expected that in a million years.. but they'll be great...I've not been disappointed by them ever.
Anna, when you mentioned "The Charismatic Voice", it struck me that if you and Elizabeth sat down for a tea and conversation I think that would be delightful. You obviously have different backgrounds and expertise. I would find it interesting to hear you two compare your commonalities and contrasts. PS. You and Elizabeth are two of my favorite music reactors. Thank you for your channel.
I say WAY TO GO to Austin and Rob for giving this a try. !!! They had to know they would get some harsh feedback from true opera fans. But they took the plunge and did it anyway !! Very talented and brave guys.
I think all but the most snooty of opera aficionados are simply thrilled these guys are exposing millions of people to this genre, when they never would have listened to it otherwise. Kudos to them for taking a risk & having it pay off so handsomely! 👍
I regularly attended opera when I lived in London, both the Royal Opera House and the National Opera. I also studied classical singing. I wouldn't call myself an expert but I've heard an awful lot of opera at the highest level. I can tell you that these guys' voices, technique and interpretation are equal to any that I have heard. (Though Rob needs to open his mouth a little more). Austin, in particular, has missed his vocation because a true lyric tenor with what we call "spinto" (incisiveness) is so rarely found and so much in demand that he could have made a fortune. Rob's voice is lovely but that sort of Italianate opera and the voices trained for it are rather out of fashion these days. Anyone picking holes in this performance is just trying to impress. Maggie Renee, for example, who calls herself an opera singer but in fact is just a student, IMHO was talking a lot of nonsense. Just because she has the money to study Italian for a year does not make it compulsory! I wonder what she would do if required to sing in Russian! Several of the so-called experts reacting to this have a strangely old-fashioned idea of opera, as if it stopped with Puccini. Opera has moved on.
*This is why music is such an amazing language, all in itself.......* I do not understand one word they sang, but I felt every lyric, every note, and every emotion, which says a lot about their amazing artistry, talent & delivery❣❣❣
They, the tenors of Homefree, are doing great, and you, too, Anna! Especially Rob impresses me, with huge lungs (!) and smooth shifts, so he doesn't need to inhale in the midst of phrases, but can do whatever he likes. I had not expected that Austin also could give so much power to this performance. It is beautiful that he wanted to support Rob so wholeheartedly, like taking a proud but still supporting role, which is also always extra interesting when the deeper voice leads. I would love if the whole group would sing more classics with their operatic voices! Anna, I was very happy for the snippets you sang - this was the first time for me, and I will look out for more! Your comments were to the point, as far as I can evaluate it. Enjoy your comments I surely could!
This sort of took the a capella world by surprise...It''ll be interesting to hear your take on these two " Country Boys"(who just happen to have music degrees).
🤗 I Love it when singers step out of their comfort zone and cross over to another ghanra! Some of the best music is when this happens, because they bring a new interpretation of the song and breathes new life into it! 😯
Great reaction Anna! I am still speechless. I know they both have fantastic voices, but this knocks my socks off. Wonderful, great, phenomenal ... Maybe I will become an opera fan after all, Home Free has already brought me to country music 😅💥❣
Maggie Renee reacted to this on her new Trending Thursday. You might enjoy her take on this as a Professional Opra Singer. I think she was very fair grading Rob as an Opra Singer (due to his obvious training) and Austin as a Classical Crossover due to his lack of formal classical training. I'll let you discover how she felt about it.
Maggie was hilarious and great. Oops. I had to backspace to not give her reaction away. I think Peter was very thorough and fair, BUT, I think he's dreaming to think Rob, especially, would need 3 years to get back in shape. I heard he had warmed up for about 6 hours before doing THIS! I'm gonna assume that 6 hours was over a number of days. If that's true, sorry Peter, 3 years? I don't think so. But I'm hoping he doesn't go there anyway. An occasional piece is all I need.
I have seen it. I still can't believe it or process it as full. WTF is the right expression xD. (excuse my language ma'am) Specially Rob, that dude can sing it all, man! (you have to listen Home Free's End of the Road cover, he brings his inner gospel-soul-R&B voice in it)
Okay, what can't they sing genre wise???? Just WOW!!!!!!!! 🍧 icing with a cherry on top!!!!! Amazing doesn't even begin to define how I feel about these guys.................. Looking forward to seeing them in Salina, KS in December 2022!!!!!
Wonderful performance by both Rob and Austin. Not surprisingly you pointed out the diaphragm techniques,,,,,which are eriely similar if not the same for wind/ brass instrumentalists. I've performed this composition at different stages of my life, teenage, late 20's and recently late 50s. The biggest difference for me has been the continued development of my diaphragm/breath control over the years, which in turn, my interpretation is night and day over the 40 years. What's Brilliant from Rob is.... he hasn't studied this since his college days and knowing Austin's theater background....is the foundation for this emotional interpretation. Well done gentleman! Anna, your teachings are poignant yet easily understood by your community. Well done Ma'am!
Great Reaction! I have never been a fan of opera except maybe some Andrea Bocelli & a few others. But I have always appreciated the talent it takes to sing opera. I was pretty impressed with Rob & Austin's version of Nessun Dorma. I have heard this famous song done by Pavarotti. I think I was more surprised by Rob's range & powerful delivery than even Austin's. Pretty good for a couple of country boys! Nice to see them dressed up in suits & looking classy.
Thanks for bringing this performance, liked it a lot. And your analysis was spot on imo. Proved to me - again - that you do belong in Elizabeth's category. More and more friends appreciate the "Anna-Way". And no one beats that very kind and special Finnish touch !
These guys are the two tenors from the a cappella group Home Free. If the ever perform anywhere near you, you should try to go. Their concerts are an amazing experience (and the ticket price is usually reasonable). But you probably won’t hear any opera at the concert 😊
It is awesome to see two men that can almost sing just about anything go way out of their comfort zone and sing opera I think they did an excellent job I got goosebumps at one time when you were looking at the screen and just being amazed by them
Remember the great Pavarotti singing this song he always beought tears. They did a wonderful job and sang with great passion as this song requires and yes my eyes are waterie.
Thank you so much for listening and analyzing this piece. Rob had apparently studied opera in college but that was years ago. I heard Austin had to talk Rob into doing this. Austin has been classically trained. It was beautiful! I think they did a fantastic job. 😄
I love that the guys of Home Free aren't afraid to try new things musically, either as a group or individually. They like to brand themselves as country, but they sound so good in so many genres. Rob was so nervous when this came out because he hadn't sang opera in years, but wow he definitely had nothing to worry about, him and Austin. By the way, your reactions sound great, especially from the new RØDE headphones from your giveaway a couple weeks ago. Thank you so much!
I've seen several people react to this now. It is interesting to me how some people think one or the other does better with opera. From my limited exposure to opera, I would say that Rob fits more with my understanding of what opera is "supposed to sound like." While Austin did very well, I felt like Rob is more in his element with opera than Austin is. Of course, that is just the opinion of someone who does not work with music as a profession. I think it is wonderful that Austin includes other members of Home Free on his channel and allows them to shine. It seemed to me that he was following Rob's lead. He seemed to look to Rob for subtle cues on the timing of the last section, for example. I read that they were both very nervous before the premier and the Rob hasn't sung opera since his University days 15 years ago. I understand that Austin also did some opera during his study of music, but his niche seems to be musical theater. If you have not reacted to his version Bring Him Home yet, I highly recommend it.
While looking for more reactions to this video yours came up. Really enjoyed your reaction and the wealth of musical information you provide. Anxious to hear more of your "Home Free" reactions. Wishing you all the best.
It’s been fun to watch as reactors are “gobsmacked” by this superb and unexpected performance. I watched over a dozen and without question, yours was the best. I loved seeing your expression as you listened, and your review comments were insightful and on the mark. You made a subscriber out of me!! Thanks!
I completely enjoyed your synopsis of Rob and Austin singing opera. You are the only professional voice coach I have seen to fairly critique this aria. Thank you.
Thank you for wonderful reaction. These two gentlemen singing this song was definitely unexpected. But they both did a great job. I am glad to hear them expanding beyond country music. Another singer that has recently expanded beyond her base is Diana Ankudinova. She recently sang a wonderful duet with Brandon Stone that is entitled Side by side. It is a modern happy song with Diana singing mostly in her upper register. I would love to hear your reaction to this song as well. Take care.
Hi, Anna! It’s my first time visiting your channel, which popped into my feed probably because I subscribed to Home Free’s channel. Thank you for your fair, artistic and technical analysis since I listen to opera and don’t know the vocal techniques. I love this aria-beautiful, emotional, and powerful. These “country” singers exceeded expectations. I truly enjoyed Austin’s clear and soaring range and I’d say emotional rendition here. It made me teary and joyful at the same time. Love your expressive face and thank you for the English captions. Be well!👏
Whenever possible please listen an react to Austin Browns cover of Bring him home… That song gives me chills, would love to get to know/learn about the song through you….😃
Great reaction and comments Anna! On one of your last Home Free listens, you mentioned you did not know that they were so versatile...guess they got you (us) again!
When I heard that you were doing a reaction to this I was so very pleased. Nessun Dorma is an amazing aria. I knew Rob was a former opera singer and so I assumed it would be awesome. Austin on the other hand surprised me that he was doing this. He too was great. This part of Turandot is very emotional, and I was shedding tears here as well. They were so good. Your analysis was perfect. The details you gave were as great as their singing. Have you covered Luciano Pavarotti's video of this? It is the best I have ever heard of this aria. Luciano Pavarotti sings "Nessun dorma" from Turandot (The Three Tenors in Concert 1994) Thank you, Anna, for making my week so much nicer.
Amazing performance...I am a die[hard HF fan, but having watched a bunch of reactors who have bolstered my opinion...these guys can do anything. I'm so glad Austin and Rob did this and I hope they do more. It's been 15 years since Rob sang opera, but it sure seems like he hasn't lost the ability; and Austin is great even though he didn't train for opera. Greatly appreciated your feedback and reaction.
In fact a commenter who knows the college Austin attended and the content of the courses said that the music theatre students were obliged to study opera and do the compulsory auditions for productions including opera performances. Most of the voice training is the same for MT, opera and straight voice students. The difference in voices isn't down to training but simple physiological difference,
Anna, beautiful choice and it is always a joy listening to your constructive analysis and comments. Doing more opera I would suggest and especially by non-opera vocalists. Perhaps also metal versions.
I've watched several of your reactions and to my surprise I just saw on this video that for some reason I was not yet subscribed! I could have sworn I was. Maybe UA-cam dumped me or maybe it's just my age creeping up on me but nonetheless, I fixed that right quick after watching your enjoyment of Rob and Austin. Great job by the "two country singers TRY singing opera". Their use of the word "try" just shows that they have a great sense of humor! They nailed it! Great reaction and you have (I guess) a NEW subscriber from Nashville.
I love your reaction in this one you just really get joy and pleasure out of seeing people succeed in singing a different genre of music and they are both very talented I enjoyed not only their performance but your reaction to them keep it up thank you.
I just recently discovered your channel and you are as charming as Elizabeth, another favorite of mine. I speak a number of languages besides English, so I may have to learn some Finnish so as to avoid the closed captions. Your joy in sharing music is readily apparent, thank you for your productions!
Anna, I love to watch your music video reactions. I particularly enjoy the way you go back and forth between Finnish and English. You are charming and beautiful!
Pasta and meatballs is my favorite comfort food …. But nothing has ever made my want to learn Italian as much as this! Not a clue what they are singing about, but the beauty and emotion give me chills!
Anna, I have never seen your reactions until this popped up, loved your reaction. I am so pleased that these wonderful singers revealed a slightly different side of themselves 😊
Hi Janet and welcome, glad you found your way here to my humble reaction channel! Really enjoyed making this video, will definitely venture more into many sides of Home Free singers!
Thank you for using subtitles instead of always speaking English, even though you speak it extremely well! I cannot understand a word of Finnish, but it is such a gorgeous language that I love listening to it. Why shouldn't UA-camrs speak their own language?
🥰 I Love Home Free! These guys are the "Real Deal"! Not only are they very talented, but I would Love to just hang out with them! Their music is both fun and very diverse! They never cease to amaze me! 😃
Home Free and their members never cease to amaze me! What a treat! I hope they will "try" to perform more opera in the future. I love opera, It's such a high form of story telling. Thank you Anna for your reaction and analysis. You're very good at picking out the subtleties that I would normally miss. I always learn something from your videos. 😃😃😃❤
Anna sweetie, sorry I've been missing for a couple weeks. I had an accident and hospital internet SUCKS! Anyway, I'm back and I'll try to get caught up. And yes, I have come to the conclusion that there is nothing these guys can't sing and sing well. As always, BIG HUGS! ❤
One thing reactions don't cover, in general, for this and other performances. Breaking down the art and craft of any art form can be instructional, yes. But at times it feels like reactions forget the purpose of art: to move people emotionally, to make them feel something strong, deep, and new. To make them experience the art, not just hear it, read it, or see it from a distance. To cause something to shift a little in the person experiencing it. I think you showed that quite well, in your enthusiasm and comments. I am a fan. Yes, These two in this performance, and Home Free in general, rely heavily on production to balance and sync the voices (hopefully not pitch correction; they should not need it). But their inherent talent, the classical training of Austin and operatic training of Rob, shine through strongly. The production simply smooths the edges. @annavaskelainen
Thank you so much for your sweet comment Ron! 🥰
So let's recall the collective abilities of Home Free.
-- 5 lead singers
-- 5 tenors
-- 3 baritones
-- 2 bass
-- 1 basso profundo
-- 5 beat boxers/vocal percussionists
-- 1 EXCEPTIONAL beatboxer/drum kit/ vocal percussionist
-- 5 guys proficient for various genres: (Pop/Country/R&B/Rock/Gospel/Rap/Blues/Musical theater/Comedy/Holiday/Doo Wop/AND NOW Opera..Opera!!/dancers-in- training 😉 )I
I am Italian e i confirm they have done a great job with pronuciation. just a bit "strange" how their double consonants sound but i don't mean they are doing wrong because theese very little imperfections make all performance true and charming. so Clever choice not to go too high to give us a marvellous rendition of this song.
A bow in front of them 🙂 and thank you again Anna

Rob studied Opera and Austin Theatrical in college. I'd say their tuition REALLY paid off! Perfection!
yep some opera singers who watched this said Rob did an amazing job, and Austin was good, a little off in some of the words but still very good.
In this song Rob is the one who surprised me….😀He sounded like an Opera Singer…😍 loved the reaction, thank you…😀
Rob is classically trained in opera but since joining Home Free he hadn’t sang it in 15 years until Austin talked him into to doing this one.
The guys from Home Free make their magic again ... BRAVO Rob and Austin !!
I don't know much about opera. What I do know is what sounds good to my ears, and this sounds so good to me. Is it opera? I don't know, but to me it's really great singing. The climax sounds glorious.

It’s just so much fun to hear someone you know sound completely different.😄😊
Yes!!!!
Like this one from Tim Foust's Doo Wop album? ua-cam.com/video/8bN9bgwR0DI/v-deo.html
I say WAY TO GO to Austin and Rob for giving this a try. !!! They had to know they would get some harsh feedback from true opera fans. But they took the plunge and did it anyway !! Very talented and brave guys.
I'm an opera fan and I think they did a good job (rob more so than Austin if i'm 100% nitpicky and had to choose).

This was new for me. A lot of fun! My favourite bit was you anticipating the last high note with your hands as if you were the one directing it. :D
The word is that Rob had classical voice training in college while Austin had training in musical theater.
Wonderful performance by both Rob and Austin. Not surprisingly you pointed out the diaphragm techniques,,,,,which are eriely similar if not the same for wind/ brass instrumentalists. thanks Coach Anna !!! These guys are so talented....and one of the most beautiful arias in opera !!! Magnifico !
SUPERB singers, especially with opera!! I thought that Rob was born to be an opera singer, Austin too, but Rob? SENSATIONAL!!!!!!!!!

Be well!👏
Hello beautiful, how're you doing today.?
Rob singing....and Anna's Finnish tongue......both music to my ears
Never, ever thought a "piercing nasal buzz" would be described as "very enjoyable," but here we are! 😄 Enjoyed the selection & your input 👍
😂
Whenever possible please listen an react to Austin Browns cover of Bring him home…
That song gives me chills, would love to get to know/learn about the song through you….😃
Listening to these voices and your beauty is so wonderful.
Glad your sharing their amazing talent and voices. Great musical selection Anna. 👌
🥰
There are so many layers to their voices! It was so nice to see them showcase this iconic aria!! So so beautiful! Really nice reaction!!!
Great reaction and comments Anna! On one of your last Home Free listens, you mentioned you did not know that they were so versatile...guess they got you (us) again!
Love your insights as well as anyones
Oh thank you Anna. I loved this. Hieno, kaunis ja mahtava 🥰
Luciano Pavarotti sings "Nessun dorma" from Turandot (The Three Tenors in Concert 1994)
Thank you, Anna, for making my week so much nicer.
Another great analysis loved 😃 😍 🥰 🎶
The difference in voices isn't down to training but simple physiological difference,
Not only his voice, but don't you love Rob's stage presence! Like he's been singing opera instead of country forever.
Yes 😍
Anna, beautiful choice and it is always a joy listening to your constructive analysis and comments. Doing more opera I would suggest and especially by non-opera vocalists. Perhaps also metal versions.
You really enjoy the way Austin moves between registers. I really enjoy the way you move between languages! Thanks for this reaction.
since i first heard this....i've been waiting for your take......they like you are amazing
Rob’s Italian pronunciations are excellent…he really does have the skills for Italian opera.
A Simply amazing rendition
I've watched several of your reactions and to my surprise I just saw on this video that for some reason I was not yet subscribed! I could have sworn I was. Maybe UA-cam dumped me or maybe it's just my age creeping up on me but nonetheless, I fixed that right quick after watching your enjoyment of Rob and Austin. Great job by the "two country singers TRY singing opera". Their use of the word "try" just shows that they have a great sense of humor! They nailed it! Great reaction and you have (I guess) a NEW subscriber from Nashville.
Pure talent X 2!!💗💗
I enjoy anything that makes u smile that broadly. Beautiful and unexpected.
awww ❤️
So much talent and versatility! Very moving!
I love your reaction in this one you just really get joy and pleasure out of seeing people succeed in singing a different genre of music and they are both very talented I enjoyed not only their performance but your reaction to them keep it up thank you.
🥰🙏
I just recently discovered your channel and you are as charming as Elizabeth, another favorite of mine. I speak a number of languages besides English, so I may have to learn some Finnish so as to avoid the closed captions. Your joy in sharing music is readily apparent, thank you for your productions!
🥰
Anna, I love to watch your music video reactions. I particularly enjoy the way you go back and forth between Finnish and English. You are charming and beautiful!
aww thank you for you message Richard! :)
Glad to know you like my switching hahah, that's definitely a stable here in my channel! xx
@@annavaskelainen Remind people (like me, duh) to turn on the translation, please.
What a gorgeous lady!!
Pasta and meatballs is my favorite comfort food …. But nothing has ever made my want to learn Italian as much as this! Not a clue what they are singing about, but the beauty and emotion give me chills!
We don't have pasta with meatballs. It doesn't exist in Italy. You are mistaken.
I did post this as well as a link on Elizabeth's channel when it came out but nothing yet.
@@annavaskelainen I am too, just to throw this out there, I am a huge fan of Dimash and Pentatonix ❤️
MIND BLOWN Thanks for the great REACTION
Thank YOU ❤️
I think they did great. I always thought they could do this, but wasn't sure they ever would. Thanks for your insights into technique.
Rob studied Opera 15 years ago. So, we have some context for his abilities
Thank you for using subtitles instead of always speaking English, even though you speak it extremely well! I cannot understand a word of Finnish, but it is such a gorgeous language that I love listening to it. Why shouldn't UA-camrs speak their own language?
You did indeed point things out that I hadn't noticed. I really, really, really hope that they try again, especially if it's "E Lucevan Le Stelle".
thank you for this Anna ... was really enjoyable watching your reaction to this ..
Thx Dan! xx

by the way Coach Ann please react to Home Free singing a cover of THE DRIVER, it's so beautiful !!!
They did this amazingly well. Love your reaction!
They did indeed! Thank you very much! xx
Che Meraviglia che sei...non ho parole
Anna sweetie, sorry I've been missing for a couple weeks. I had an accident and hospital internet SUCKS! Anyway, I'm back and I'll try to get caught up. And yes, I have come to the conclusion that there is nothing these guys can't sing and sing well. As always, BIG HUGS! ❤
To me this is Austin's way of highlighting Rob's talent.
lol I loved your reaction to this I could see that you enjoyed it so much you made me smile thank you
Rob is the one with the operatic depth and power.
This will be an interesting one. Will try to make it on time 👍
Yay! Looking forward to the live chat already! xx
One of the most moving pieces of music
I don't think I've ever heard of him, 🤔👍 it'll be a first time reaction to me.
they are 2 members of Home Free Anna has done earlier
@@MarjoRebekka the guy looks familiar, I probably just didn't remember him. Thanks for letting me know. 🙂👍
What do you mean the guy? There’s two guys…
Your comments are acute and teaching me a lot.
Happy to hear that! Thanks for watching! 😊
Great reaction! They were amazing!!
Loved your reaction!
They didn't just try to sing Opara, they sang it BEAUTIFULLY.
Our boys succeeded in the opera singing😁
Wooot.. ihanaa..
