Chao, Ilaria! Thank you for the shout out. Even though they are country singers at heart, I really love seeing people's reaction to the wide genera of songs that they can do. This took a while for them to do, especially for Austin. Rob took Opera during collage which made it a little easier for him to remember. Austin was trained in music theater at collage. I am so glad that you reacted to this performance. I thought it was appropriate for an Italian voice teacher to review and react to their performance in this area. Grazie Mille!

That said, the first reaction I watched was by a Professional Opera Singer (Maggie Reneé) where she breaks down their style, where I find Rob's Opera Trained voice blends very well with Austin's Classical Crossover Voice IMHO. I was privileged years ago to have heard Pavarotti with Dame Joan Sutherland and was stunned at their beautiful voices. Rob had studied opera in college but that was years ago. yep was different and fresh and new, something away from what they normally do. Rob really has a varied and diverse set of talents, as he shows off more of that here. Austin has such a great voice he can fool 99% of the people with his theater opera singing the same way a great impressionist can do accents. Most will go "thats amazing" but the 1% professionals will notice it isn't true, but it's still entertaining due to his great singing voice.

Rob definitely carried it…Austin is a tremendously talented vocalist…but Rob clearly has had both operatic training and had Italian linguistic/dialect coaching…which is common American and British operatic students at good music academies.
The audio definitely wasn’t recorded in that church in the video…the vocals were definitely recorded elsewhere - most likely a studio. Because Rob’s operatic vocal would have been much louder than Austin’s.
It’s really a lovely performance…and Rob really was superb!

I noticed that when they came back together in the end, as good as it was, the vibratos did not match. Austin's high tone was not able to vibrate at the same rate as Rob's lower tone (which voices in complete synch will do) and as Rob's was the more prominant (and operatic), it created a slight conflict.

    Saluti!!

Austin & Rob come from an a capella group named Home Free and they cover many genres, not just country. While Pavarotti made Nessun Dorma famous, didn’t Puccini write it?

Ciao Eileen, it is a work begun by Puccini which unfortunately lacks the ending as Puccini died leaving some hypotheses of the ending on some sheets :(

Hey, Nessun Dorma was written by Puccini, not Pavarotti.
Pavarotti sang the best performance of the piece, but it is not his.
Or would you rob Puccini of credit for the opera Turandot from which Nessun Dorma is from

I'm baffled how no one, and I mean no one is bothered by Austin's F# landing for "vincerò" on a G major chord! G MAJOR! You can't just stay on an F# when the entire harmony has switched to a full G Major chord! It does NOT sound well.
