I noticed they updated a lot of the aesthetic effects/hud to be consistent with Alpha and 3, whereas HD Remix/Ultra instead kept them consistent with SF2 but in higher resolution.

Yeah. They really put some work on this port at the time. But again Capcom always did some great stuff in their ports in the past.
