Good demo!!! .357 is twice as powerful -- twice -- as .38 Special. I carry revolvers for self-defense. I load with .38 Special. It worked fine for cops for a hundred years!!! .357 just hurts and will make your ears ring for 6 months -- while not killing a bad guy any deader!
@@weissrw1 ye i can imagine when you have to shoot a snub nose 357. Mag inside a buildig beside a wall.. tinnitus will knock on the door and wont go away forever i guess
Short and sweet. I went from full- house .357 Mag, 125g. Remington HTP'S, to the exact same thing in .38+p... The +p flavor offers 16 3/4 inches of penetrates, whereas the .357 hits 13 1/2 inches of penetration. The energy hits an average of 250 fpe of energy from +p, instead of 450 fpe. The .38 +p has half the energy but half the recoil but better bullet performance overall.... I shoot it from a Smith, with a 2.1 inch barrel. It hits 945 fps instead of 1,245 fpe, but it's worth it!
Have shot a lot of different firearms. I’ve shot 460, .500, 50 AE, etc. The only firearm that I thought was going to fly out of my hands was a snub nose .357.
@@jeremiahpaul02 Ah the ria 38 206 is an excellent choice though ! For its price and what you get, thats a snag for sure. My buddy got one and its been a solid range worker.
This is a bad vid but thanks for watching lol, yes it the 357 is HOT in a little snub nose, I think for another video ill have a few people shoot .38 then film their .357 reaction. Its always "HOLY CRAP!"
The 60-9 was the first year for the model 60 in 357. I believe in 95-95or around that time. So it doesn’t have the key lock on the side like newer models. I found mine used but good condition a few years ago at a local gun shop. Has been with me ever since.
The difference between video game weapons and real life weapons is crazy 357 recoil in videos games: **flies out of your hand, into the sky, never to be seen again** 357 recoil irl: **easy to control**
Yeah iv improved a lot over the year. Fun gun to shoot tho. If you got some tips for me tho, feel free to upload a vid of you shooting your revolver :)
When I got my first revolver, it was almost instinct to use my left hand as kind of a back strap over my right. I've seen people do this before. Gripping a revolver kind of like one would grip a semi-auto pistol. Just don't forget and accidentally grip your semi-auto like a revolver....Chew up your hand.😬
@@JoseFlores-pm7qg I definitely prefer semi-autos nowadays but during the time of this video I was in a J frame kick and was just totally obsessed with the guns. I found them awkward and sometimes difficult to shoot, I experimented with many different grips like you said all of this knowledge coming from different people's videos talking about how they shoot their revolvers. It was a lot of trial and error and in the end have put the revolvers away but will always love and appreciate their beauty and class
i know i'm a freak but i don't find .357 to be that bad. now a 10" barrel contender in 30-30 or 444 marlin those are hard to hold. my wife has a 2" .357 that she will slow fire at the range and put them all into a group the size of my palm. now these are light loaded 158gn so i can get close to the recoil of the 110gn-125gn self defense rounds. high power 158 or heaver and fast .357 will take your hat off and make your elbow hurt. the fix is practice and good grip and stance. for a revolver don't hold it like an auto trying to stop it so the slide can work. let your arms ride up in a controlled fashion. this was written about back in the 80-s and 90-s when they were making the big bore single actions like the 500 limebach and 454 casull.
Been shooting revolves for only 2 years, I have much to learn. Can't compare me to guys like mixup98 who have been shooting these guns for over 30 years. Ill get there.
Your weak hand thumb was not in the proper position, it's too close to the cylinder gap. If you don't mind you should look up and find the proper revolver grip technique.
You're wrong. Watch the video of Ken hakethorn shooting the colt python. Just make sure the thumb isn't near the barrel portion, or where the chamber connects with the barrel. I shoot no problem with the thumb like in this and Ken's video. Many people put out videos telling you to avoid the whole entire cylinder like it will bite your head off or something. They don't actually know where the fire actually comes out of.
He suffered the nerve damage, so you won't have to.

Good point
Your ears ring even with protection?
@@professorchaos8407 I should have been more clear -- I was speaking about using .357 in a self-defense situation -- when reaction time matters.

@@weissrw1 ohh ok I see yeah that's a good point. I saw a 357 I saw at the store today was considering getting it.
It gets a lot more brutal out of an M&P340! Good demo.
I cant even imagine the pain ! Thanks for watching
Nice model 60.
Thank you !

Im afraid to shoot the .500 or 460 because of the "bump fire" incidents iv seen on youtube
50 rounds of .357 through my Ruger LCR had my hand bleeding. Hell of a gun though, wish I didn't sell it.
That reload was very nice
Nice video! It wouldn’t hurt if you stated the Ammo (brand/type) and how many (grains) each caliber is. Just as a reference for folks…
Good video,nice pistol.
Thanks for watching :)
No problem. I was looking for a s&w 38 but couldn't find one, the only revolver I found was a ria 38 206 .
@@jeremiahpaul02 Ah the ria 38 206 is an excellent choice though ! For its price and what you get, thats a snag for sure. My buddy got one and its been a solid range worker.
Yes I'm happy for the price. Looking for a S&W 686 satin stainless 4in.
is it just me or was that last 357 way hotter than the rest?

I carry the model 60-9 with 38 plus p from underwood. Low end 357 power with less blast and recoil.
Hey nice ! I have not heard of that model, what are the differences between the 60-9 and 60-40 they look very similar.

that and crazy fast reloads, but fps main characters are usually bad asses unlike me lol
158 grain buffalo bore .357 is video game level lol
Hold the revolver correctly and you can reduce that recoil!
since this video I have improved my grip, but its a tricky gun for sure
Ouch...oww..guess I'll pass on a .357..but looks like would definitely do the job
I have a Taurus 357 . Yes it does. I ve been looking for a 38 though
I HAVE A SUNB 357 I CARRY A.LOT BY S@W IT'S A BEAST
what kind of ammo do you like to carry ?
I USE FMJ 158 GRN
