    Excellent presentation of the three types. The reference to the bore alignment also reminds me why it is so comical when watching someone holding a gun sideways. The barrel's axis with a very slight tilt upwards is intended to compensate for the ballistic of pistol cartridges. The obviously have lower velocity and higher drag coefficient to most rifle rounds. In the RARE instance of seeing some shooting a pistol at more than 100yards, know they are very experienced and short of having extremely adjustable sights are calculating in their mind the increase of marks a rifle shooter may use on a reticle.

    • @NYG5
      @NYG5 2 роки тому +2

      I think it depends on your sights and what type of weapon. For example, I think most handguns are zeroed for 25 meters, so at 25 meters I would use center hold, as you get closer I would 6 o clock hold

    • @NYG5
      @NYG5 Рік тому +2

      @@isidrosevier1125 nah cuz sights are based on bullet trajectory, every time an object is thrown it gets a little bit of air lift so the trajectory goes up, then as gravity and drag slow it down it drops. So at 6 yards you would be closer to the lift of the bullet so shots would be a bit higher than point of aim, at 25 yards (or whatever the zero is) your shots would be at aim, and outside of 25 yards you would start getting bullet drop.
      Its like throwing a football, every time you throw it the ball has some form of arc where it goes up from your hand release and then will come down.

      Im no expert as i got back into shooting after a 20 year break. But i center hold everything and if after im sure im not flinching or anticipating the recoil, usually about 100 or so rounds or however long it takes you to get used to a guns grip, if at that point you are consistantly grouping about an inch or so low at 30 feet your gun is probaby set up for combat hold (3dot). Its not too bad if you can shoot with both eyes open and focus like a hawk on that front dot.

      @JustinLambert-ww5yb 3 роки тому +8

      Depends on what you are training for, in my opinion. If you are training to shoot targets at competition or at a competitive shooter association, then you can do one eye open. However, if you are training in accuracy for a job like the police force, keep both eyes open. Most of the time when you get into a situation where your life is in danger you won’t think to close one eye to aim at the threat. You naturally keep both eyes open. Train that way, and you will become a lot more accurate and it could save your life and those around you.

      @@notanymore9471 you are talking an inch difference between putting the front sight below the target or ON the target. When it comes to self defense, it does not matter if its ON target or below target, a person is huge and that round will hit them.
      Even at 50 ft out, if you have sights ON them, its going to hit them.
      Even at a self defense situation where the guy is like 10 ft or even 5 ft from you, you don't need to aim using sights, he is right there ON you, just point and shoot at chest.

    there is only one method for sight picture and sight alignment. the 6 o clock hold is crutch for those that buck the trigger or weirdos with adjustable sights, and the dots are not sights they are only sight alignment tools. using the top edge of the front sight post is how the pistol is designed to be aimed mechanically. the dots help you get alignment as you are driving the pistol out from your chest picking up the front dot first and then aligning the dots and as you finish driving the pistol into your shooting position you aim correctly with the tip of the front sight post....... great visuals and presentation but you got some shit wrong.

    A gun has to be setup specifically for a 6 O-clock hold - you can't make it work with today's pistols that come with combat sights.
