THE PROBLEM IS THAT PSYCHOLOGIST.... DONT TAKE INSURANCE... and 1 session of CBT can cost anything $500-$1000. At least in NyC. WHERE, tell me, Where I can find somebody to help my child. The few that take insurance, are not taking new PATIENTS...
WHY THEY DONT TAKE INSURANCE? Why?????

It is also a gut issue. If your gut bacteria is out of balance, it affects tics. See a functional medicine doctor who can do fecal and blood testing.

I've had severe tics for over 50 years, and I've tried virtually every med in the TS treatment area. I STILL HAVE severe tics, and over the years, the only medication class that helped me, to the point of allowing me to work and earn an income, was the class that is now demonized: The Benzodiazepine class. Over 10 years ago, when the Benzo class was deemed "too addictive", I was taken off of it. 1 year after than, I had to stop working and am now old enough for Social Security. So, now, no "medical doctor" gives a damn about me, refuses to listen how the multiple meds I tried, over the years, either did not work or had terrible side effects. And, most importantly, docs refuse to prescribe any Benzo drug for me, even though that class greatly helps both my TS and my Myoclonus, which are closely related in presentation, but affect me differently.
Now, I live in torture and agony every single day, as the combo of TS and Myoclonus cause me great trouble breathing. One thing I absolutely REFUSE to be, anymore, is a lab rat for some experimental 'treatment' that some new whiz-kid MD has dreamed up. Over 50 years of being a lab rat is enough. I am nearing the end of my physical life, and my remaining years are NOT gonna be a lab rat for experimental protocols. I KNOW what works for me...I don't get a buzz from Benzo's nor do I get a high from them. They. Simply. Work.
And, because the 'benzos' were so "horrible", I somehow managed to have a successful career as an Electronics Engineering Technician for the Department of Defense, working on projects for NASA, the USAF and the USN. Heck, I even have a Doctorate on my wall now...all while being treated with Benzodiazepine therapy. Geeez, I guess "that class" of drug worked pretty terribly for me, huh?
Lastly, it's quite obvious that these "experts" have never SUFFERED, even for an hour, with severe TS.

There will be doctors who prescribe it to you. You can just change your doctor, visit some other doctors, visit doctors in another state or visit doctors in another countries, get those in black market. If you are that smart to have a doctorate on your wall, why don't you build your own kitchen lab and make your own benzodiazepine synthesis in pots and co? Drug addicts do it with meth, so do it with your medication. And yes, these experts never suffered of TS. It is exhausting.

When I was young growing up in Vietnam I had had tuorettes. My mother took me to a GP and luckily he he happened to be specialised in neurology. He looked at it like a mild localised seizure and did an experimental treatment using low dose of epileptic medication for a short period of time and my brain rewired itself and I stopped ticking. He cured my Tourette.
