I am a very old person, and still have sometimes nightmares of the stories that we were told when we were children, ..... when God will appear on the skies, on the Day of Judgement, sending the people on the left to hell and the people on the right to heaven. It was a horrible story and very scare that tormented me for years. I hate religion and I believe it does more bad than good to anybody. People should be prosecuted for telling those horrible stories to children, who are the least ones that committed crimes.
You sound very easily distraught, and the hells that these texts are referring to are something that sound similar to the place your consciousness is currently existing in.
@@mishka_bo_bishkalol, judgemental criticism would nevvvvvver emanate from the mouth and mind of a believer! They all know Jesus commands them to not judge. A Christian would NEVER be so hypocritical! They're the most moral humans on Earth!
If only these deluded believers come to their senses and start Critical thinking...we will be doomed by these fundamentalists...Thank you Mr Sam Harris for your tremendous Insight ❤❤
I find the act of believing is the source of the problem. Why must we believe, especially with certainty? I hope it becomes more popular to admit, "I don't know". That is the most appropriate answer to almost all questions. Yet some humans have a need to believe, like it is their identity. "Why do you believe it?", normal response, "I don't know, I just feel it is true.", then, "Can you back it up with sufficient evidence such that you are willing to present the concept in front of brilliant, skeptical minds?". I suspect some things are true and some things are not true, but I am not at all mentally committed like the idea of belief. I will admit in any discussion, I don't know, but here is what I suspect and why. Folks seem to confuse beliefs with knowledge. As in, "Do you know a god is real?", response almost always, "Yes". This is a claim of knowledge with certainty, not "I suspect there might be a god, but I don't know." I don't see the falue in belief. What one believes has nothing to do with what is or isn't true. So yes, listen to Sam Harris, don't believe him. He would not believe you, nor would I, but I would listen carefully as I suspect he would. I would listen carefully, not to believe but to understand. I do not insist people think like I do about belief. I just put it out there for consideration, not to be believed. I could be a raving lunatic.
@@thomastucker5686 Well said. Sam Harris has vocalized this very idea; unlike many popular religious and conservative speakers (and liberal speakers, of course), a great number of his fans hold him to his word. They will call him out when he makes a slip up or if there's a disconnect between the facts and the conclusions he's deriving from them. And he said he would not have it any other way.
@@herroyung857 fact check me, please. I wish to keep my confidence scale in check in real time on any particular matter. If it is a matter whereby I have little information, that is the foundation I approach it from, I know nothing, I am ignorant, so belief would be the most ridiculous approach.

@tjones5719 why is it ironic ? It's in the book you people believe was written by a good god and good people. Why would anything so horrific be literally justified in a book meant to teach you how to be good.

@tjones5719 Nice try but your point is a circular one that has zero merit. The OC made a comment on facts that you can’t defend against.. Grownups believing in fairytales solves nothing and is dangerous.

These are serious charges. So, is this man as forthcoming about the unpleasant, sometimes disturbing & disgusting content of his own character as he is about what he pronounces as that of people of faith? Has he released a book detailing the deceitful & repugnant conduct of his own private life ?

I've decided he's my metaphorical God 😅😅
If we ever find a simple power source that's the "top" of power then we will know the truth.
That still will not confirm the claims of the different sects of religious denominations. That’ll definitely muddy the waters even more for them.
I enjoyed reading Reza Aslan’s books, *Zealot* and *God,* but his comments in the clip were bizarre and left me scratching my head.
Pretend. Hang in there. You'll get to rule the world without ever bothering to learn how. Your Imaginary Friend will provide everything for you.

either islam dies or we all do. those are the only two options

Thank Zeus for Sam harris, Hitchens, Dawkins, Ingersoll, and the others!
That's just silly. How is Islam going to literally exterminate the human race?
I PROFOUNDLY THANK MOHAMMED FOR SAM HARRIS! HARRIS MUST BE MUHOMMAD'S VESSEL!!

Trump couldn’t carry Sam’s intellectual lunch !!
And what nose snort ?? Never heard him do it once.
Why is there never any Muslims in the comments trying yo counter Harris?
great question!!!!!👍
Because their egos get in the way of adult conversations. Islam trains them that way.
They would get destroyed by Atheists who know what they are talking about.
@JackDouglas-l7r The conceit practically drips off their words, especially when you come across a "rational" Christian or Muslim in the comments.
