Gotta love the fact a 69 year old man still has the same glimmer and shine in his eyes as a young kid unwrapping Christmas presents. Such a lovable man.
“So, what’s your favorite Color, Mark?”
“It all started 14 years ago, when I’d lost my house....”
I interviewed him in 2002. You're so spot-on with this comment... 😀
@@cbake76 that’s cool, jeez that was quite some time ago wasn’t it!?
@@tam2237 18 years! The interview is on my channel if you're curious. Only one out there I know of where he geeks out on Wolverine. :-)

Mark Hamill is the biggest Star Wars fan. He understands us.
If only Mark had been able to direct one of the Disney Star Wars movies.
Thats because hes spent most of his life only being a Star Wars fan
Yet he agreed to act in the new heresy.
He understands the fans but I dont know if he fits into that category of "biggest fans". Considering he talks about how he doesn't give a fuck about all the silly and insane details of the universe lol
And he respects people, something certain type of "fans" don't do.
I could watch Mark Hamill talk for as long as he’d be willing to talk.
forever then, it seems XD
same he's so interesting
The man is a human.
Ohhhh he would.
Same. Same
Frank's laugh sounds like Yoda just like Mark's laugh sounds like Joker.
Now I cannot unhear it and I'm not complaining
Funny baby Yoda, ha ha ha,
ua-cam.com/video/epKET9OA3vc/v-deo.html
Benjamin Riley Yes, captain obvious.
Benjamin Riley yes, characters not themselves. Frank Oz doesn’t go around and talk like Yoda, does he? That’s my point. It’s unusual. Relax, dude.
Or Bert
Frank Oz is so hilarious that he won't even accept a compliment. What a humble guy.
Mark is a seriously talented impressionist, in this interview alone he gives us Harrison Ford, George Lucas, Yoda, Sir Alec, AND Katherine Hepburn!
Mark Hamill is one of those people who you just can't dislike.
Just don't follow him on twitter.
Anyone can be disliked if you're petty enough. Case in point, these other replies...
@Bitter Clinger "Cabal"? Seriously? Are you trolling, or are you a genuine idiot? 🤦♂️
Like most people, Mark doesn't adore their dear leader. That's where the negative criticism comes from. Miserable people.
I agree, he is immensely likeable. Regarding the negative ninny’s who responded here: if I can have friends with which I vehemently disagree politically but still love them like brothers and sisters, I can like the more than personable Mr. Hamill. Plus, I don’t follow Twitter hardly at all. If I did follow Twitter more, I am sure there would be many people on all sides that I would have more of a difficulty liking.
Hamill is the Heart of Star Wars. I truly believe that.
Second, also Heart of lots more
@@lcflngn Agreed 1000™. He is the biggest fan of his own films, and a man with a kind and loving Heart.
No
@@K3vinK Fair enough. Who is the Heart of star wars in your mind?
Landry Prichard The first movie? Sir Alec Guinness and Harrison Ford had more impact than Mark Hamill did. One could even say Carrie Fisher did.
In the end we see the saga was really a story about Anakin Skywalkers rise and fall. Vader was the protagonist. Luke was the foil.
Mark is such a cool, grounded man. He really is the bridge to the fans.
His Instagram is pretty amusing if you haven't check it out
@@Spongebrain97 his Twitter too!
He sucks. He's a sellout.
He is a cultural icon but he's cool enough to step out of it and realize that it is the CHARACTER who is famous. He doesn't take himself too seriously. But he "Gets" the cultural obsession with it all.

Frank: What's your favorite food?
Mark: When I was 5....

Long, long ago, in a gala...
But I digress, we surely jest.
yea, its the booze talking. i really don't like his incessant yapping.
Honestly whenever Mark is about to start a story, I get the popcorn and soda ready. He's a really good storyteller, I love listening to his random stuff.
@@CT2507 smh what is he there for
I'm so glad Frank was able to draw Mark out of his shell.
😁
I'm not sure Mark has much of a shell...
seems to be the common theme for theatrical actors (see Willem Dafoe)
Asks mark one question - 15 minutes later he's still talking hehehe
He's got to be the easiest interviewee. Vaguely come up with a question and then just get out of his way.
Whilst I admire his enthusiasm, I wish he would let Frank ask more questions
He'll be spot on script though, if it's not worded specifically It'll be guided one way or another
i like his ramblings, a lot
Asks Mark one question: 15 minutes later he's still talking.
Kevin Smith: Hold my beer
Mark was the perfect actor for Luke. No one could’ve played that character like him
Especially the part where he tried to kill a member of his family, just like he, his wife, and his son tried to get the son's girlfriend to do. "Mark told me it was just crazy to bring a child into the world that no one wanted." I agree though... him as Luke, the character... it probably would've sucked, done by anyone else.
Thing is, that's what we always say. If someone else did the part, we'd say the exact same thing about them instead.
Nah I'd argue any of the young actors in the 70s could've played the part and I love him as Luke. Joker, now that's a role that I can't see anyone playing like him.
Pity he got fuck all scenes in the new movies actual hurts me disney bad bad
I could have...easily.
Even though I was 7 at the time...
Mark Hamill was my first crush. I was 7 when I saw Star Wars and I just loved him up until I was 13 when I saw Return of the Jedi. When I was 19 I worked on a movie he was in and I was able to have a great conversation with him on set. It was a dream come true for me. I've since met a ton of actors and celebrities working in the film industry, most of whom I'm pretty meh about, but Mark Hamill will always have a special place in my heart and Star Wars will always be my favorite movie of all time. He's such a great guy.
Very interesting Jane Hamilton. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of work did you do in the movies? By the way, I love Mark Hamill.
@@johnsellers9266 I was in production many moons ago. Not in the industry anymore, although my husband is. I also met Carrie Fisher on another project, btw. Also super nice.
Mark is a good dude. He recognizes how his iconic roles touched his growing fans. Likely receiving the same old questions for decades, answering them while retaining an energetic enthusiasm. Cheers, to Mark Hamill.
While Ford is just an asshole about it
Cheers!
That bit about the little boy who lost his arm but said he wasn't scared because Luke Skywalker had lost his hand really got me. Man, I don't know how Mark kept it together after hearing that one. _THAT_ shows you how much of an effect you really have on people, Star Wars.
And then the boy realized that bionic limbs like the ones in Star wars don't exist yet..
I hope that boy is also made aware of drummer Rick Allen.
The horrible story of a man that was forced to connect his youtube account to google+ we're getting close though.
It's Luke's courage the boy drew from. Most of us grew up with mythical heroines and heroes. Long live the Resistance.
Same here it's really inspiring and emotional.
I'd like to see a comedy about two neighbours hating each other (something similar to grumpy old men) starring Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford
A comedy with Mark Hammill and Harrison Ford would be gold.
I'm generally opposed to remakes, but a remake of "The Odd Couple" with Hamill and Ford I would totally love to see.
Possibly, Clif Haley - with Mark as Oscar and Harrison as Felix. Hayley Atwell and Kira Knightly could portray the Pigeon sisters.
Great idea.
YEP! I was JUST going to say that too! :D
Mark is a gentleman and a true ambassador for the true Star Wars fans.
The mark of a great interviewer is having the humility to just meet the guest talk. No interruptions, no steering, just listening. Brilliant interview.
Mark doesn't need steering, many interviewees would because they aren't world-class storytellers and entertainers like he is.
Mark Hamill is probably one of the easiest people to interview since he's so talkative and kind, while Harrison Ford is probably one of the toughest.
They were just perfect for Luke and Han.
Harrison just has a lot of social anxiety and gets incredibly nervous in interviews. Which is why you see him rubbing the armrests or fidgeting. Its a shame because he's a living legend
@@PatrickKeating But I remember him doing silly stuff like breaking a Star Wars action figure or dropping the Lego model of the Millennium Falcon. He may very well have social anxiety, it just doesn't seem like it to me.
@@Uchiha-fi4ij He doesn't have to seem like it to you. It just is. Its not a comfortable thing for him. Other similar people don't necessarily enjoy it.

I chuckled at the thought that this is basically Yoda in conversation with Luke Skywalker.
He's so complimentary. Not a negative response. We all love him for it. A lesson for all of us.
Mark is the only person I could watch talk for hours and still be entertained all throughout!!
tru dat i have admired this man since i was a kid
but what about jesus
He is a story teller for sure. ;)
such a down to earth fellah in an increasingly clustered world
You need to work on that--
Both Oz and Hamill are literally the 2 most humbling entertainers of our time! Its so great to see these individuals as human beings and not as celeb robots with Ego's.
@Bill Murray Please illuminate. POS? How, and in what way?
@Bill Murray Well if that's true and I doubt it. He must at least be the greatest actor to ever live.
@Bill Murray Stop spreading nonsense, soyboy.
No, Bill is correct. He’s turned into this huge partisan ideologue zealot.
@@K3vinK Are you on crack again?
You can learn two things from Mr Hamill. One- be tenacious about your dreams. Two- appreciate the people in your life.
He's an incredibly talented story teller. He goes off on tangents but they're all relevant, and he never forgets where he was going originally.
I love how much of a story teller Mark Hamill is. So fun to listen to.
He sucks shit and so do you.
A little part of my soul will die when Mark Hamill passes away. He's such a delightful and engaging raconteur and his enthusiasm for subjects that interest him is charming and authentic. Of course, he's also a wonderful actor. I just adore this guy.

Mark can ramble on and on, but everyting he is saying is true and from his heart. He really is a great speaker!
Mark Hamill is a natural born storyteller. Everyone should check out the national public radio versions of the original trilogy - Mark is sensational.
I love that Frank showed a twinge of regret at a couple of points for having known Mark for forty years without really getting to know him. This is a truism of life, and often we reach a point when the person is gone (either geographically or deceased), and it's too late to tell the person. Here, one of Mark's heroes was able to tell him. It doesn't mean they're going to go golfing every Saturday now; it's enough to acknowledge it.
I've been at the same company for 21 years and relate with this completely. We can have these people in our lives for so long but never truly know them.
These two guys are why Yoda was a believable Jedi master, and delivered a serious, high-impact new character that drove so much of the saga. Mark Hamill had to sell the character of Yoda as much as Frank Oz did, I believe.
I feel like the reason Mark Hamill is so loveable is because he reacts to being an actor the same way that I would react to being an actor. Utter joy with working with Miss Piggy, Harrison and Carrie.
He doesn't take his fame for granted to this day.
I would've loved to hear Mark interview Frank about The Muppets.
This was extremely enjoyable to watch. Hamill is engaging and entertaining. It seems that he takes his craft seriously but not himself.
He's a lovely guy most definitely. Could listen to him all day!
PICK JCGS4313 And humor :)
I read this comment as Mark reminisced about working with Miss Piggy.
I read "but not himself" in Sidious' voice. Lol
Mark Hamill is a world-class raconteur (storyteller). He is such a fascinating person, with a wealth of stories from his own rich exeperiences; but he also seems like an accessible, truly decent guy. He genuinely loves and understands his business, and everyone in it, from the name on the marquee to the union guy or girl cleaning the set. I have mad respect for him.
You want to hear a good story? Ask him about his grandchildren and how they should be aborted.
Well put.
He’s a wonderful person! Love him so much!
Bill Murray be quiet bill
Worked in the film industry for over 10 years. Actors like this are absolutely awesome to work with. Humble, and normal human beings. Mark, you are a rock star!
I can't imagine my life without Star Wars, and I can't imagine Star Wars without Mark. Thank you Mark, you seem like an amazing, and genuine person.
Once Mark begins talking, it's impossible to turn this off....his passion, his enthusiasm, his humour, his humility, his knowledge.....just GREAT !
Frank Oz directed one of my favorite comedy movies, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
He directed one of my favourite movie musicals, Little Shop of Horrors!

Mark is such a joy to listen to. He hasn't changed.
I love how Mark praises the Sequel Trilogy's directors in certain fields, while still inserting his own subtle criticism of the Sequel's treatment of Luke.
Mark was almost the one nobody cared about after the first trilogy. Now he s the most beloved actor among the fans. That s the true definition of aging well. as wise as master Yoda.
I’d said Ewan mcrgregor is nowadays.

It is because of his passion and how real he is. The guy is as genuine as the day is long.

The story goes that Harrison and Carrie were a couple.
Mark Hamill's genuinely nice guy shows through here. All the shows he talks about, the animation, the voice acting, is all about the entertainment. Not a face actor, a complete actor.
I love his enthusiasm and his child like quality time has never diminished.
Mr. Oz seems like nice guy. Years ago he sent my brother an autographed Miss Piggy picture.

27:55 The comment Mark made about wanting to know everyone’s name and what their job was when he was working on a set just shows how much of a genuinely good person he is and that he appreciates people for their part in a production or on a film set. @\fReEaNdCoMpEtItIvE\ To be fair his performance was excellent in time runner maybe the films funding wasn't up to scratch but that was not his fault. And Cock Knocker was a spoof character in a comedy, he was hilarious. The man has serious range you have to give him that.

i want mark to play all the roles in everything.
I would've like to see the movie "Amadeus" with him as Mozart. He was considered for the role, since he played him on live theater, but Milos wanted relatively unknown actors so the audience would focus on the story rather than the cast. Tom did a terrific job, for sure, but, I'm just curious.
I'm 48 and just fell in love with Mark for the second time. His respect for Frank was life affirming
Such a fun interview! I had no idea Mark had done Broadway. I like him even more! I also loved that he was inspired by Clarence Nash (Donald Duck). I used to trick or treat in Clarence’s neighborhood... he and his sweet wife would invite us in. Clarence would perform the voice with a puppet, and his wife gave up homemade popcorn balls. I saw Mark as Mozart in "Amadeus" on Broadway in 1984. He was amazing!
So did I, saw it twice! And Return of the Jedi was playing right down the street at the Loew's Astor Plaza. Happy times!!

He's used that one before, not sure it's an accident but definitely funny.
I've seen hours upon hours of his interviews and I can tell you that he's always called them that since he met them. It's funny because I actually thought to myself when he said it here that he didn't explain it like usual and that people would probably think he slipped up due to age or whatever 😂
Well Carrie & Harrison were rather close from the start and Mark purports he NEVER knew they were knocking boots for sure during Empire. I think he knew but was mum and their buddy.
Mark is always a great interviewee, enjoy just listening to him ramble on.

They tried and Hamill also answered Oz's question.
you can see his blood pressure rising with his tension and hands shaking. He really is excited.
What Mr Hamill said about the unpretentious attitude really struck me -- he is damn right. It was this attitude that made the OT stand out so much, and got lost in the prequels and sequels.
When he does the Harrison Ford voice if you close your eyes it's just like listening to Han Solo
