Replace your pendant shade in five minutes. ECOSMART Edison bulbs: www.homedepot.com/p/EcoSmart-... IKEA pendant shade: www.ikea.com/us/en/p/klovan-p...
Yeah, easy because he skipped the difficult parts of unscrewing the little metal ring inside the shade. They need to make a tool to use to unscrew those.
Glad it helped! I got the ones in the video from IKEA, but you can get them from a lot of different places. Lowes and Home Depot have a good selection.
Typically the replacement pendant lights are used instead of recessed down lights. The retrofit pendant screws into the same place the flood light would go in those cans. If you are asking whether you can use the glass shades or pendant shades in another light fixture that has three pendants, I don’t see why not assuming the lights have the right setup so the shades lock in the right way.
Those rings inside the glass shade are the most difficult thing to unscrew. I hate them and I'm having a hard time finding a shade that has knurled nuts instead.
Hi. Typically, all the pendant shades have the same size opening on top. So, unless you have a different set up, it shouldn’t matter. Worst case, you return what you bought and get the right size.
Anyone have any tips on unscrewing that ring? Ours must’ve been factory tightened and the ridges around it barely protrude so I can’t get any sort of grip on it 😅
@@daddoesvideos nope tried that. Also put electrical tape on my finger tips trying to get grip hahah Finally got it after holding the base of the fixture and carefully twisting the shade itself. That loosened the seal of the ring, then I was able to unscrew the ring *phew* Harder than it had to be! Haha
Hi there! You shouldn’t need one. Should just be able to use your fingers. But a pair of needle nose pliers or something similar could work if the nut is a bit stuck.
First video I could find after searching for half an hour on which way that ring is supposed to go inside. Thank you so much!
Glad to hear the video is useful! Thanks for watching. Happy thanksgiving!
This was exactly what I needed to see! Helped me finish this project in a jiffy. Thank you!
You are welcome! Thanks for watching!
Exactly what I needed. Thank you!
Excellent! Glad it helped you! Thanks for watching.
this is the best video to show how to change a pendent light shade.
Well, thank you! Appreciate that. Thank you for stopping by and watching.
Thank you, very simple and to the point.
Surely! And thank you for watching.
Extremely helpful! Thank you, so much!
Sure thing. Thanks for stopping by!
Thank you! I was missing the ring part and my brain broke trying to figure out how to convert the shade I got, so this helped 😊
Glad it helped! Thanks for stopping by to watch.
I'm so happy you have the plastic, easy to reach ring. Mine has a very slim, metal ring and I can't get it to budge.
Oh that stinks. Any chance there’s enough room to use some needle nose pliers to try to get the ring off?
Thank you! My 2 new vanity light looks amazing. DIY
Yes! That’s great to hear!
Easy peasy. Thank you!
Thanks for watching!

Your video helped me so much!1
Awesome! So good to hear! Thanks for stopping by.
Just what I’m looking for…where can you get the new shades…thank you!
Glad it helped! I got the ones in the video from IKEA, but you can get them from a lot of different places. Lowes and Home Depot have a good selection.
How do you get the ring off if it was put on crooked? We have tried but it just twists the lightbulb socket
Huh. Seems like you should be able to hold the fixture and twist the ring. But hard to say without actually seeing the issue.
Stage one switch off the electricity supply 😅
Never a bad idea. Lol.
Thanks
Thanks for watching!
I have a lamp that is missing the ring. Do you know if those ring sizes are universal? Thank you
Gosh, I would guess they’d be standard, but I can’t say for sure. Be curious if you find out!
Can I do this if my current light fixture have 3 lights?

True. They are a bit challenging. I’m not a fan either.
How do you measure to replace a shade?
Hi. Typically, all the pendant shades have the same size opening on top. So, unless you have a different set up, it shouldn’t matter. Worst case, you return what you bought and get the right size.
The link is showing they don’t have the pendant shades anymore 😭 I want one so bad!!!!
Aw man. Yeh. Guess they don’t sell them anymore? Boo!
what do I do if the diameter of the pendant shade is too wide causing it to just fall off
Huh. That’s weird. Usually they are a standard size. Are you sure it’s a pendant shade and not something else - like a lamp shade?
Anyone have any tips on unscrewing that ring? Ours must’ve been factory tightened and the ridges around it barely protrude so I can’t get any sort of grip on it 😅
Ugh. That stinks. Is there enough of the ridge sticking out that you can use some needle nose pliers to grab it?
@@daddoesvideos nope tried that. Also put electrical tape on my finger tips trying to get grip hahah

@@jeremypouba8026 oh nice! Glad you eventually figured out a solution!
What tool you used to unscrew the nut
Hi there! You shouldn’t need one. Should just be able to use your fingers. But a pair of needle nose pliers or something similar could work if the nut is a bit stuck.
Does the ring size matter
Hey there. They are a standard size.
Someone put ring on backwards how do I remove it if can't get a hold of it?
Hey there. What do you mean when you say it’s on backwards? Like it’s upside down?
@@daddoesvideos yes exactly. And it's screwed up tight.
@@candacec6427 Ok. Can you remove the light bulb? Does that help you at least get access to the ring?
@@daddoesvideos yes light bulb removed but still can't get grip on ring
I'm gonna try plyers.
