great video, Thank you, My question is, I have never seen a steel lower control arm it looked and sounded cheap too me, Dont take that in a defensive matter, Usually they arealuminum cast. Is the steal part a cheaper alternative then the aluminum? I know alot of these car parts are china made and we are stuck with them and alot are cheaply made anymore, I was told that by alot of mechanics, Thank you
I was always told with control arms to lower the car on to a jack stands so the full weight of the car in on the side you are doing then tighten the bolts.. does it make a difference
I didn't realize it isn't as hard has I thought, Thanks for showing me how to do it.
Overall I would say not for the inexperienced. Although if you take your time anybody can do it if you have the tools.
Thank you I just finished both control arms and the passenger side cv joint axle Your video helped out a lot.
Happy it helped
Cheers
Only thing I can add is preload the bushings. Otherwise they will deteriorate quickly. This video is what I was looking for, for my Buick LaCrosse 👍
Good video. Wish you could of show us more steps to complete the work. Still a good job.
Great point; next video will show more steps.
Cheers
Did you torque everything down to spec? Didn’t see you with one.
Yes, next time I will make sure to put that in the video
So we don’t exactly have to takeoff the The tie rod?
No not necessarily
Very good information
Thanks
How did you get that castle nut off without taking the CV Axle out of the way?
There was room; wiggle wiggle.
What tools do I need?
It has been a while so I do not remember the specifics
sorry
Thanks for watching

Thats the one they brought it probably was the cheaper one as they were on a budget
The use of these cheap parts by GM is why most people are now buying Japanese vehicles.
Yes parts are not very good these days

That makes sense; but I know many mechanics who do not.
@@daveprototype6079 If you don't load the suspension to ride height before tightening those bolt's then the bushings will not last very long.
@@Velocity1118 I will update if they fail; and will make a note for future installations. Thanks for the info
so taking off the caliper and rotor is not required ?
It makes it easier but can be done without removing them.
@@daveprototype6079 thanks it was not difficult at all and im back on the road again
@@lanajacknichols8397 That is great to hear; hopefully saved some money too.
Cheers
I got a better idea for a video. We will replace the control arm. Two seconds later: all done.
Hahaha yes we will be showing more steps in future videos
What?! No wrench sizes or any other info to get prepared?! 👎
Sorry we are getting better at giving more info, thanks for telling us. For sure in the next one we will mention it or put it in the comments.
