How to Clean Suede Air Jordan 1 Reimagined

- The Reimagined Royals dropped last year as a part of the "Reimagined Classics," but some may say the ball was dropped on this one. The Royal colorway is a cult classic and following up the 2017 pair was going to be tough for this Reimagined pair. Either way whether you love them or hate them this cleaning video will help you out with any suede Jordan 1! In today's Shoe Care Academy video Rob will teach you the best method to clean suede sneakers.
When it came to cleaning these sneakers, we weren't sure how they were going to react. They could bleed color in multiple places whether that is from the blue or the black, but we were going to test it out for you! For this cleaning we relied heavily on the Essential Cleaning Kit. Our Essential Cleaning Kit is the perfect way to provide your sneakers with a quick and effective clean. We highly recommend this on suede, nubuck and even some leather sneakers!
To kick off the cleaning we needed to clean the entire suede sneaker evenly using the Soft Bristle Brush to breakdown the dirt, grime, grease and more that was trapped on this classic colorway. After the uppers were taken care of it was time to move over to the rest of the shoe; the midsole and the outsole! For this entire cleaning we relied on the 3 different brushes and all natural solution to condition and disinfect the materials. After the cleaning it was time to let the shoe dry and it was a waiting game to see the results...
PRO TIP: When you are drying suede or nubuck sneakers ALWAYS let them dry evenly in the sun or in front of a fan to avoid watermarking or water damage.
Once the sneaker was dry we noticed some crunchy suede and no one likes crunchy suede... Anytime you get suede wet there is a chance for it to be crunchy, but it is repairable. DON'T let this stop you from cleaning your suede sneakers. We used the Dry Suede Kit to fix this suede issue. Rob started with the eraser to erase some deeper staining before moving over to the brush to reset the nap. When you are using the suede brush you have to move the brush back and forth in multiple directions (don't apply too much pressure).
For the last step of this cleaning we had to revive that suede. Suede has a tendency to bleed color and this can lead to fading. To fix this issue we used Mink Oil and the Horsehair Brush to not only revive the color, but also to recondition the materials and prolong the life of these beloved kicks.

Honestly, these royal ones are super slept on. One of my favorite shoe purchases if 2023. I just think people are scared of suede care. Favorite part of the video was seeing how you handled the mink oil and brushing it in. Keep these coming. Look forward every Monday for your new videos.

@@TheDreadknoxxNo, it isn't. It just isn't exactly the same shade as other Royals. People (including myself) bought the 2015 Chicago and 2016 Banned when they dropped, despite the reds not being the same as they were back in the day, because they were still dope.
Now, I don't expect these to ever be "grails" like those... but my point is that there's nothing "wack" about a bright color being a little brighter or a little darker.

I’m so glad to run into this video, I bought the all-suede Jordan Six Toro and just picked up the Jordan 1 Royals
Now I feel confident that when I get them dirty the rejuvenator is there to revive the quality. My Favorite part of the video was when the color was revived to its original color. The mink oil does wonders.

I like the reimagined royals a lot! Something about suede shoes just makes them more comfortable on my feet than leather, so I'm a big fan of this reimagined pair in particular.

Could I just throw the shoes in the washing machine?
We would not recommend throwing this pair into the washing machine. Most pairs with suede or nubuck should not be added into the wash it can cause damage to the materials. Knit, mesh, canvas and most leathers are machine washable. However, it all really depends on the shoe.

My favourite part of the video was when you used the suede eraser to reset the nap. I didn’t know that you can use the eraser to do that. I thought it was just for removing stains. I don’t have a suede eraser but now I know that I can use it for that when I do get one. Thanks for the tip.

I just copped these shoes a few weeks ago (haven't arrived yet, thanks stock X :/) and its only my second pair of Js! I certainly don't have anything related to shoe cleaning so getting a set of free shoe cleaning supplies would be pretty nice 🤔🙃 My favorite part of the video is learning about resetting the suede, I didn't know about that.
i have them and i love them. i dont have any of the other versions though i have seen them esp. the 2013 pair on foot and i still prefer these over those. and as great as the clean job looks what i got from this is not dirty them lol that's y i wear my pair once and awhile

Favorite part was how you brought that color back with the mink oil and the suede looked even better than they do brand new just by using the suede kit and mink oil!!! I have yet to try mink oil I got a cleaning kit and it worked great on some wolf grey 12 lows I just bought!

Satin can be tricky, but it would be the same steps as this as long as you let them dry correctly

I know this dosent relate to these shoes but, I bought Jordan 4 a ma maniere used and want to protect them with reshoevn8r (however you spell it)water and stain repellent spray but I'm not sure if it's fine to spray it on the shoes and if the shoes need to be recoated or if they can survive in water. Hairy suede you have to be a little more careful, but yes. Just make sure you clean the material evenly

It depends on how often you use them, but we like to think of it like a toothbrush, so you would change it out as often as your toothbrush

White laces would be clean
Main reason I hesitate getting this pair is the cleaning part. I knew it's gonna be a handful and a small error stroking those brushes will ruin the suede/nubuck.

I clean mines with a fire hose to remove the dirt and then use suede eraser to soften

Someone cleaned my reimagined two weeks ago, and they used some random cleaner that left the black suede dry and the blue parts seem to chip off a bit. I used a soft brittle brush initially after it happened, but I’ve left them since. Should I still do this process?

You can wet suede though. The main point is not oversaturating the materials and allowing it to dry properly. Some suede is too dirty to clean dry.
