Air Jordan 3 Complete Restoration

Today we are going to be cleaning and restoring a True Blue Jordan 3 that dropped back in 2016...That is 7 full years of wear and tear on this beautiful colorway. You guys get to see the transformation, but how we find our restoration sneakers comes from scolling eBay until we find the most beat pair of Jordans we can get our hands on. We got these True Blue 3's for a steal, but man were they destroyed.
As always we need to take care of the cleaning using the RESHOEVN8R Signature Kit and a couple of other tools. Cleaning the sneaker allows you to start a restoration with a clean canvas and truly get the best results. The 3 different brushes are used to breakdown the dirt and grime on the sneaker from the inside out. The natural Solution not only removes the unwanted grime, but it conditions the materials as they go to make the sneaker last longer. Since these came from eBay we chose to use the Laundry System. After all you don't know where this shoe has been!
After the deep cleaning process and reshaping with the Shoe Tree is was time to take care of some prep-work. We've said it before, but prep-work is hands down one of the most important portions of a proper restoration. These sneakers had a lot of scratching, scuff and even some deep cracks in the midsole. We needed to fill in a lot of the cracks before the repaint to make the sneaker look new again.
This total restoration featured a lot of different steps, but most importantly it featured a lot of prep-work which is about 90% of a restoration. Last step of the restoration was to remove the unwanted oxidation. Oxidation comes with years of wear or simply just from the sneaker aging. When unyellowing rubber, you won't need too much time. Typically one coat of Sole Revive and a couple hours in the Vick2000 does the trick.
After some cleaning, filling, repainting, unyellowing and couple other details, these 2016 Jordan 3's were looking as good as they did on release day!

Great job Vick. This restoration gives some of us comfort that we don’t really need to double up on sneakers. We can buy just one pair, wear them then put them in some good hands to restore them if they really need restoring and potentially save my money in the process.

Vick, with all the tricks and hacks you have for fixing pairs and parts that are out of the box, you should work on a solution for all the torn sockliners. I can't tell you how many people ask me about getting those repaired and you have to tell them it's either reconstruction, or an iron on patch. I think the restore community needs another option for once! It would really elevate the transformations, I'm currently contemplating on what to do with my New Castle dunks with the same issue as we speak. 🤔

Works wonders! Apply, dry, sand, and repeat. It’ll take several hours to do right but I’ve gotten some great results

Hey, so I used acetone to remove some paint off my 4s to repaint them, but it seems like there are little holes on the midsole now, any reason why?

I see that you started using jacquard since you airbrush much more now. I feel like jacquard comes out much smoother from the airbrush as opposed to angelus being thinned down. Wish angelus made an airbrush ready line of paints.

We use Angelus Direct 12pk paints and Krylon Matte Clear Coat to protect the color.

Love the work! but do you know if it's possible to remove paint on outsoles? bought a pair of bc 3's from 2001 and they had the worst repaint including on the front of the outsole, i really don't wanna use $200+ on a pair of 3's with matching soles so hope it's possible😅
You can try using acetone to remove the paint. However, do a patchwork if possible and be careful.

It would completely depend on the usage.
@@RESHOEVN8R i bought the cardinal 3’s a year and a half ago and wore then til beat but the paint never chipped or scraped off. if i repaint the true blues would it be like that ? to where i wouldn’t have to worry about minor things chipping the paint ?
I would suggest you try getting fixed with a nearby restoration service provider for best results.
There is more money in the material used than the shoe itself.

How you matched the white color? Angelus white is not an exact match. The shoe color is snow white.
Honestly, a lot of paint mixing is just trial and error until you get the right tone.
I just ordered a pair that need to be restored. Someone used true blue paint from Angelus to restore a pair of 2016 and it doesn’t match. I’m using brushes and Angelus paints usually… what’s the proper colors and mixture for 2016 true blue? I hope someone can help…. Otherwise I’ll have to just start mixing and figure it out. Also what brand is the paint above and does it work with brushes? If not… what colors should I buy and such….?
We use Angelus paints as well, but let me check with Vick on the paint mix
