Because the games put you in the role if Spartans, it's easy to forget about how little the citizens know about.
In forerunner society their were no such citizens. Everyone was a functioning part. Except for rare forerunners who lived technologically recessed on private planets. They lived a more human like life on those private planets. The today's problem. We need Everyone doing something that accomplishes progression toward advancement an betterment. Not citizens that are silly in their understanding an function for the whole. Oni is repression. Oni is like a culmination of the forerunners faults that lead to their downfall. Keeping secrets from the masses. Secrets that are all of ours for the knowing
That’s why I like stuff like Halo: Nightfall, ODST’s Messages, or the “Hunt the Truth” series, they both show a lot of what Halo is like outside of the games!
To summerize:

*SECTION 2:* Responsible for Propaganda. Easily decieved by Sections 1 & 3.
*SECTION 3:* Responsible for technological development and innovation.

So ONI knew for centuries about forerunner technology & have been studying & trying to reverse engineer. Wasn't til after the war it could explain how they could understand the technology so fast.
Well, they came across ancient structures, that’s pretty much it. Even during the Human/Covenant War they didn’t make the connection that these are Forerunner things-not to mention being usable.
They made some improvements here and there (the bubble shield was made with Forerunner tech) but it really wasn’t until the Onyx incident when they got their hands on some Forerunner Huragok that they really started to understand the technology.

I like how in spite of all the shady dubious ventures that ONI has, all of it is (presumably) for the security of humanity. The pinnacle of 'the ends justify the means'.
Also, 'oni' is Japanese for demon, ghost or some supernatural troll-ish creature.

But Halo 5 wouldn't let that happen, sadly.
And because of that they must all be hunted and exterminated like the vermin they are. ONI has long since stopped being of use to the species, whatever services they render other, more transparent and accountable organisations can handle. ONI must be shut down and all their wretched leaders, agents and workers exterminated as punishment for their many crimes. The alternative is to let them carry on being the hidden tyrants of the UNSC and all other associated human entities. Fuck that. Halo 6 or Halo 7 should include ONI openly becoming an enemy when UNSC command demands they turn themselves over and surrender any information and assets they have, and ONI, ofc, declines. I would love playing a Halo game where they are the targets and you erase them all.

soooo a couple of men came to the door today asking about my online activity, obviously I didn't say anything incriminating but i felt like they knew something i didn't, like they knew me, and my home. They didn't show me any ID or give me a name and they seemed rather uneasy when a l couple walked past, like they didn't want to be seen. The funny think is they asked specifically about you 00, and if i had any connection, i said no and they left. They tall about 6,7 and both in long dark coats, one had black hair and the other had silvery grey. But as they left i got a glimpse of something under the coat, i dint think much of it at the time but now that i look back i think it might have been a hand gun, thank god the sun was up, but its what happens when the sun goes down that im worried about. Were armed with the truth, but watch your backs out there.

Personally I doubt it. Ik some forerunners we’re still alive after the firing of the rings but they just wanted to live the rest of there lives in peace and didn’t want to do anything related to the “new” galaxy. Honestly, if humanity can completely fight off the flood/precursors new test then I think they easily should have the mantle, considering the forerunners and ancient humanity couldn’t do it

The U.S, thier a department part of the Navy branch. In Halo most likely thier successor of the same name when the U.E.G formalized,. After the Human-Covenant war, they became a independent branch through playing political courrption to get it, most likely going against the U.E.G wishes.

Do the ODST's awnser ony to ONI? Or are there ODST units under the direct comand of the Navy or Marines?

Most ODSTs answered to the Marine Corp as they usually worked along side Marines and were almost always ex marines. Alpha nine was under Oni command in Halo 3 because of Vernonica Dare, all of the others were Marine. Most ODSTs transferred over to the Spartan IV program sadly so uts safe to say that they will shortly not exist and be assimilated into the Spartan branch as Spartan IVs.
@@jester4057 most ODST did not transfer to S-IV there arent enough to have done that. ODST are still alive and well.

@@jester4057 there are more ODSTs than spartan IV though, like a hell of a lot. There is maybe 3 battalions worth of spartan IV now in canon. Thats not that many for an intergalactic empire. There would still be more ODST than IV
@@derekmensch3601 There are currently about 500 Spartan IVs. ODSTs at the peak of the Human-Covenant war there were 3 Battalions of ODST each being 1000 troops, they would have lost several hundred during battle of Mombasa as well. With the Spartan IV program being very new and the majority of them being former ODSTs its safe to assume that a large amount will join leaving maybe 1 Battalion of ODSTs left since S-IV can do a lot of what ODSTs can do while also being better. Although they will never truly replace them as they will be good to get candidates into S-IVs.
