The Tesla Cybertruck is unlike any other vehicle just by the looks, but driving it is on a whole other level. This is the dual-motor all wheel drive foundation series that costs a whopping $110,000 after taxes and fees, but soon this should be available for $20,000 cheaper when the non-foundation series Cybertrucks begin delivering. One of the most unique and obvious is the ultra-hard stainless steel exterior that is supposedly dent-resistant and reduces longterm corrosion along with the armor glass that Tesla claims can resist the impact of a baseball at 70 mph and also class 4 hail. It’s obviously nice not worrying about paint chips or really any minor damage at all, but the stainless steel does have its drawbacks such as how easily it shows fingerprints, and how blinding it can be at certain angles when the sun hits it. The massive 18.5” center touch screen with an all new cyber themed user interface is a very nice upgrade if you’re used to the smaller 15” touch screens in the Model 3/Y. Other interior features include a 9.4” rear display for backseat passengers, 15 total speakers with dual subwoofers for one of the best vehicle sound systems you’ll probably ever experience, upward folding second row seats, heated and cooled ventilated front seats that are very comfortable despite the same angular themed design as the rest of the car, HEPA filter (bio weapon defense mode), panoramic windshield & glass roof, along with custom cabin lighting that gives some relaxing vibes at night. The bed also has one of my personal favorite features which is an automatic tonneau cover that can be opened and closed with the push of a button on the back of the truck or from the center touch screen or even the Tesla app. This is fun if you are passionate about the truck or spreading EV awareness or just like putting smiles on people’s faces, but if you’re an introvert or just don’t have time to always stop and talk to people it may become a bit of a nuisance after a while. The comfort is one of the best features of this cabin, and I liked the vantage point of sitting up much higher than my Model 3. This is a Tesla at the end of the day and even though this truck is over 6000 pounds, it still has that Tesla quickness we all know and love with a 0-60 speed of 4.1 seconds. Compared to my Model 3 and y I did notice that the Cybertruck motor seems louder, and the regen braking with the all terrain tires definitely was louder when coming to a stop. By day 4 I was finally getting used to the steer by wire maneuvering, and by the time I went back to my Model 3 it felt like a big downgrade when I had to turn the steering wheel way more for a turn than I was doing in the Cybertruck. Since this doesn’t have autopilot I tried to drive with my knee for a few seconds when I needed to grab something, but that is pretty much impossible due to the squircle steering wheel design. Tesla is unfortunately known for their fit and finish issues, and I noticed int his truck there were noticeable bubbles in the white dash material, and a few imperfections such as on the rear floor and there was some plastic stuck in the rubber door sealing.

I reserved a CT the night of the unveiling, configured a Foundation version in December, with a delivery date of January to March. The last day of April I ordered a Model X the same day Tesla called to say my Cybertruck was scheduled for delivery. I love the CT, but there have been too many new production issues along with deliveries to a bunch of celebrities when I was told "as an early reservation holder" I was given the opportunity to buy the foundation CT. Sorry but none of those celebrities were reservation holders...I felt misled and played.

I don't believe the glass can resist a baseball traveling at 70mph. I wish someone would test that out in a video. But you hit the nail on the head saying, right now the Cybertruck is a rich person's toy. I'll get mine when the specs are as Elon promised and the price drops drastically. Elon lied to us, just like he when he said the Cybertruck beat a Porsche in the quarter mile, while towing a Porsche.

But I won't have enough money to buy it for years, so I think I'll wait for a second or third generation down the road when they iron out all the kinks and I can finally afford one.

I never liked the design but when you see it in person it's hard not be impressed by it! One major drawback is that you can only tow for about 100 miles with the Cybertruck compared to other ICE trucks that can tow a heavy loads for about 500 miles! So if you plan to haul heavy loads for long distances, I would look elsewhere.

7:51 I was hoping someone as intelligent and experienced with Tesla as you would report this fairly. Tesla could *not* have delivered the CT with AP/FSD. It is not a simple copy/paste from other cars due to different camera placements, steer by wire, and 4 wheel steering. It must be trained on lots of data from a real world fleet of trucks. Getting this fleet on the roads and doing the training takes time.

Considering it costs around $100,000 it doesn't seem to have much in terms of luxury fittings. The cab interior is very sparse and basic. Who on Earth buys these vehicles? The designer was given a pencil and a str8 edge and told 'NO CURVES'. They thing is a monstrosity. As as for choosing an ev - the whole concept is ill thought out and more trouble than it is worth. How can spending 30+ minutes charging (+finding/downloading the app), waiting if there is a queue, or the charger isn't working, compare with filling up with petrol/diesel in less than 5 minutes??

It's a truck. It's not good, bad or ugly. It can haul like a truck and tow like a truck. If you have the money to spend to be a 1st adopter, then more power to you. If you want one, just wait a few years. Just like the Model 3 and Y, which is very affordable now, this truck will be on par with other trucks just like the F150 loaded up. As more time passes the product will be more common and come down in price. The only reason the Model 3 and Y went up so much was due to lack of production and then supply chain shortages. Had those events not happened the price would have been more stable.

I wish a grad student would do a study as to why some people never see it, others see it and are interested and react (like a photograph)and still others must go to it and ask questions and/or touch it...? Those that seem to be most interested...and that is all ages and nationalities and female and male...they seem excited, elated and happy? ...And after waiting 4.5 years and keeping it a secret for the entire time...I'm happy to share it.

@Resist4 The price of the single motor is 60k. 20k up from 40k, or a 30% increase, which is in line with inflation.
The dual motor is 10k more than what is 'should' be in respect to inflation. I guess they know they can charge more because of limited availability and huge demand + the EV tax credit. This is why you have people even paying 20k more for foundation series. By they time late pre-orders even catch up to supply, inflation will have risen another 10% in 2 years provided interest rates remain sticky or are lowered.

    • @Resist4

@@rayr6278 The problem is for those inflated prices you don't get the 500+ miles of range Elon promised. And it doesn't even have a dedicated place to put a spare tire, without having to take up bed space. Every truck needs to carry a spare. In my opinion so should every car. Who wants to be on the side of the road with a flat tire waiting (maybe hours), for Mobile Service or AAA, on a rainy night, if you can even get a cell signal?! Fix a flat and tire plugs can only do so much, nor would I want to mess with that if I were wearing nice clothes. Plus it's so much faster to replace a tire than plug it, if it can be plugged.

I disagree with the cool car paradox. Of course, it's foolish to drive a car based on what others will think, that we can all agree on. But, whether for better or worse, people definitely form assumptions about other people based on what they drive, for positive or negative. I've made several years-long friendships just from people starting a conversation with me in a parking lot because of my car (not a tesla), and these people were not even car owners of the same brand. People make assumptions about the type of person you are based on what you drive. I'm not saying that those assumptions are accurate or that it's okay that we do it, but we do it.

Yeah this is nice, I like it as a rich person's car. There also should be a gas powered regular person's car too though. Tesla should look into that with all of their models.😕🙂🤓🤠😎😏👍✌️👋👏💪🌾🍀🌿🍃🇺🇸

I saw a cyber truck for the first time yesterday 5/16/24 and I gotta say…I don’t get it. It just looks so out of the ordinary that it doesn’t make sense. There is a reason for a truck…no, I don’t mean the trophy truck reason that so many people buy trucks for. They are actually supposed to serve a purpose. But this thing will never serve as a work horse.
And that is fine…there will always be those types who do what they do to get attention, and this is the real reason for the cyber truck…isn’t it?
Takes all kinds to make a world and so, this thing will likely have a big following. But to consider this a truck is really stretching it.

So what type of work CT can’t do? Tesla team is receptive to constructive criticism, so I am sure they will take these feedback and improve in next generation.

Well…I’ve been in construction for a lot of my work life…carrying lumber, tools and supplies. Rack systems are essential for a truck to have a purpose. Carrying 2x12’s to a job site or stacks of sheathing is necessary work for a truck…that’s just a start.

    broken promises:
    - no autopilot
    - no 500 miles range
    - not bulletproof
    - not rust proof
    - not $38000
    - not useful in heavy terrain
    - compromised design, different wheels
    - not allowed in most parts of the world
    - years of waiting time
    - flimsy and flawed, most have been recalled already

    • @Aircam73
      @Aircam73 26 днів тому +2

      Haha.
      Autopilot coming.
not having a 500 miles range is a disappointment and about your only real complaint.
It is bulletproof for small caliber handguns. Tanks are bulletproof if you get a large enough caliber.
It is rustproof and that shows how little you know about it. The rust on a cybertruck is industrial rust. Either Iron particles from the brakes or iron particles from shipping. All cars experience this.
It is very useful in heavy terrain as shown by Top Gear and others. Here is a link to what it can do: ua-cam.com/video/WSgNA-pWM8w/v-deo.html&ab_channel=TopGear
All designs are a compromise how is this one any different
Who cares where it is allowed as there are over a million orders in the states that will take a couple years to get through before it needs to go anywhere.
It sucks that it took longer than expected but something did happen if I remember correctly between the announcement and now.
Inflation sucks as we voted for the wrong guy and now we get to pay more than $38k
How is it flimsy as it has some of the highest rigidity of any truck out there. How is it flawed you are just pulling your bias out of your ass. The recall was for a rivet in the accelerator and not one like the Ford F150 had for their axles breaking.

A rich persons toy... totally agree... this thing is only good for shopping groceries... for truck stuff not so much. Worst range of all EV trucks... and no door handles!!! nice to stick your fingers in between the car and door.... what could possibly happen? LMAO And to all tesla culties... please stick your balls in the frunk and watch what happens... no closing senors in the doors to protect against harm. That is 90s tech.
