So lucky to have a DR500rns that rings like a bell. And just acquired an AJ45me as a birthday gift. These are incredible guitars. Kind of hidden gem that few know about.
The DR500MCE has a grounding defect. Draining batteries I went through 3 of them with Guitar Center. I loved it the whole concept with 2 pickups and the versatility. Unplugged sounded great,played great. I'm not sure if you did a recall on them to fix the grounding issue but I know the Guitar Center I go to stopped selling them. I do have a vintage Ovation with the aluminum fingerboard and frets that is no longer playable. The Epiphone DR500MCE was the best I could find. So If and when Epiphone does get this problem resolved I'd love to buy it again. After all the main claim to this guitar was the extended battery life compared to a 9 volt battery and they were draining batteries very quickly just sitting in the case without the timer being left on or anything else. I did do the research to find out it was a grounding issue I was very tempted to fix it myself but I didn't want to void the warranty. Guitar Center didn't want to fix it without the permission from Epiphone and said they wouldn't get permission for several weeks maybe even longer. I picked one up at gcenter used to later find out it had broken bracing inside :(( i wish i had another shot at one of these for the price I found, it sounded great for the few moments it wasn't broken.
I have had a DR500 MCE for about a year and a half , great guitar , I easily have 1500 hours playing time on it. Only problem is that it eats straps , the trs jack/strap pin is too big and wears out the hole in the strap due to stretching and I haven't found a solution , strap locks wont fit it , hate to add another pin to the guitar build visually is a work of art but I think that would be a for sure way to solve it.

I've read Epiphone had quality control problems with the DR-500x line. It seems to me, all they had to do was improve their production quality and update their electronics.

I got an AJ-500M back in 2008. Amazing guitar. Definitely the best acoustic guitar you could buy for under $1000 in the last 10 years.
Pretty much all of these are out of production now. Shame really. One of the best value acoustic guitars ever made.

They show a slot head several times in this video, but I couldn't find it online anywhere. I want one like that! Anyone know what model that is?
It sounds good but returned the one I got problem I have with them the top e string won't to roll over the top of the finger board if playing a G cord

wasn't a huge market for them, you can find them still on ebay etc but they didnt take off really
