I researched this guitar, and purchased it new. It was just under $700. I have enjoyed it quite a bit. I have several other guitars and all have their niche. But this is an everyday player. And I love it. sb
I would agree. It’s my go to for playing around the house and writing new songs.
The Masterbilt series are great guitars and all came with bone nut and saddle... I own 3 Epi's DR-500MCE. Two 2014's that are only 6 guitars apart according to their serial numbers and a 2018. The first one I bought the then owner had a few solid guitars in his arsenal... Takamine, Martin, Gibson, Taylor and a Sigma. I compared his Epi with the rest that are almost 4k guitars, it held its own without breaking a sweat. The Takamine was incredible in that lot, better tonality and playing feel compared to the others, and the DR-500MCE, IMO, was close behind.
No need to upgrade these tuning machines, they're very good.
Gotoh won't be a world apart and will be less precise. Waverly would cost too much.
Installing closed-back tuners like Grover rotomatics is going to really detract from the tone and sensitivity of the instrument, since they're very heavy.
I didn't like the sound of the pick-up at all. I prefer using a microphone to hear the actual sound of the guitar. Wish you would have played it without it plugged in. I have one too and i like mine.
I own a 2017 AJ45ME with the Fishman - it is a Great Pickup! your pickup obviously had issues, I wish you could have experienced how good that pickup sounds
I have 2 Martin 000-28 s, Gibson j45, several Takamine Lawsuit, and AN EPIPHONE-------YES EPIPHONE AJ500RCE, and it holds up as far ad sound, and quality right in there with the others. I bought mine new for around $800.
So, yes, if you find used Masterbilt-------GO FOR IT FOR about $500.
The latest Epiphone equivalent is the Inspired by Gibson Epiphone J45
New, mine was 698.
This guitar was fitted with a bone nut, no need to upgrade.
Too much gabbing and moaning abou availability for accessories in your "area".
