While you can't deny Black Panther's obvious cultural significance, I do not think that it deserved the NERD movie of the year award. Infinity war was a titan (pun not intended) of a movie that had no reason to be as good as it was. Considering all the parameters that it had to obey like fitting all of the different characters into the story while maintaining plot cohesion and also having to feel like a complete story on it's own while still being half of a whole final product, it accomplished this and then some; and this is also keeping in mind every other issue that this movie had to overcome as the massive crossover event that it was. This movie had a lot riding on it and it was able to deliver. While it is by no means a perfect movie, nor do I begrudge anyone who would personally choose Black Panther, as far as general impact on nerd and also pop culture goes, I think Infinity War deserved the win.
2019 and 2018 are extremely similar years when it comes to cinema(not in a bad way though) •Captain Marvel and Black Panther were extremely high grossing films that are some of the highest grossing Marvel Movies. They also try to represent specific cultures and people in a good light • Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame were both humongous Avengers films. They end with our character who has had the most development ending with snapping away the enemies with an iconic final line. They were both also complete financial successes with both of them being in the top 5 highest grossing films. • Rocketman and Bohemian Rhapsody were both biopics of iconic musicians of the late 1900’s. •Venom and Joker were both anti-superhero movies that focused on the psyche of an on edge unstable man who has an inner evil lurking within.
2018 was so close to being the best year for all nerds until....... Nov. 12 R.I.P Stan Lee Also to me this is the rating of He Jurassic Films 5.Jurassic World(eh preferred the others still good) 4.JP3(something new) 3.Lost World JP(ok) 2.Fallen Kingdom(everything I expected to see) 1.Jurassic Park(no explication needed) also don’t hate on my listing of the JP/JW movies Another thing to me Ready Player One is Pretty Good And Lets Face it Vote Disney for president because there owning a lot pretty much now than back then
I can't help myself but defend Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. It's still one of my least favorite movies of the year but not enough people give it credit for what it did with the franchise. It tried new directions in a series of movies that became just "AAAH run away from the scary dinos!" SPOILERS BELOW: The movie changed the franchise in various ways: 1) Dropped the bomb of human cloning which didn't do too much for the film but hints at the future. 2) Destroyed the island where all the other movies took place. 3) Played around more with the hybridization and genetic modification. Don't tell me the Indoraptor wasn't cool as hell. 4) By the end, the movie lives up to the name of Jurassic WORLD. I look forward to see what they might do with dinosaurs roaming around Earth in the next installment which I believe has already been greenlit. The movie still was sloppy and stupid, but I just wanted to recognize one of the pros that the film has going for it.
Black Panther does not deserve the Movie of the Year Award. I praise Michael B. Jordan's portrayal of Killmonger, as it would later become one of the best acting in the MCU. But the plot is, and I think I'm not the only one, at some points idiotic; you can't really expect the audience to believe the protagonist dies halfway through the movie. And the CGI, was at it's best, passable. This is just my opinion. You can either choose to agree or disagree with it, that's totally up to you.
Was I the only one that thinks that BP was okay. I loved it when it came out, but it definitely was not the best movie, not even the best superhero movie if I being honest.
Fernando J. Pachas I agree that Claw getting killed off in the middle of the movie was such a waste of a good Character. I haven’t seen Aquaman yet, but conparing BP to other superhero movies from this year BP is just average.
1. Jurassic World was good and Fallen Kingdom was good too. Just because 2 and 3 were bad doesn't mean everything is bad. 2. Okay, I guess, but I liked Sunflower more... 3. Okay... 4. But that wasn't the best effect in Infinity War... That award should go to Thanos who actually looked like a real alien... Even in his close ups to his face I felt him being real. He felt soo real! 5. Ready Player One wasn't good but how was it disappointing? It promised easter eggs... it gave easter eggs... Lol... 6. OH MY GOD WHAT? I guess it's okay if this was one person's opinion but this list is probably done by many people so... how did so many people think it deserved Movie of The Year? You can't just not make Infinity War the winner just because it felt like a "half of a full movie" It did feel like a full movie. A movie of Thanos completing his goal... A movie about Thanos' journey. It deserves that award...
I think they decided #6 by what movie had the biggest cultural impact and not the best crafted film of the year. Black Panther easily took over the conversation this year if you ask me. And it made a big accomplishment in representation in a mainstream blockbuster.
So I teach English in South Korea, a country that isn't quite the most black-friendly country (i.e. it's kinda sorta really racist. Thanks, colonialism) But when we started our new school year in March, right after Black Panther was released, SO MANY of my students were giving me, other teachers, and their friends the Wakanda salute. FOR. MONTHS. Even after Infinity War. AND they were doing it correctly (right arm over left) My students LOVED that film and it affected them so much! These kiddos are gonna grow up with incredibly diverse characters and, with the latest MCU news, are also going to have a Korean hero, which is super cool!! But this is all to say: Black Panther affected EVERYONE. It is the cultural film of the year and worthy of Now This Nerd's award.
Best Song: Sunflower Best Animation: Spider-Man:Into the Spiderverse Best Costume: Venom Most Disappointing: Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Least Wanted: Solo: A Star War Story Best Movie: Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse Worst Movie:The Happytime Murders
Black Panther was fucking amazing. Killmonger was so compelling and tragic. A great movie with clearly opposed philosophies that didn't collapse into a simple binary of good/evil. That's not as common because it's harder to write and pull off, let alone in a comic book movie where simple good/bad philosophy would be easy. What is good vs evil in BP is not the philosophical differences, but the means of carrying them out. For me, this movie is a clear critical winner given the films you listed. Spiderverse would be my second choice. I loved it to death, but its villain is easily the weakest part of the film, and for me that is what makes Black Panther win over it. As for Infinity War, it was bold of them to end it that way and it was great to see some consequences, though it's fairly obvious that said consequences will be largely temporary. Thanos taking center stage in the hero's journey is also refreshing. However, his theory on how to achieve balance makes no sense. But it was a good performance and a generally enjoyable film. Just not great.
Ready Player One is what is supposed to be: Cameo - The Movie. You guys talk like if the book was an untouchable masterpiece. This list really leaves a lot to wish for. Black Panther, really?!
Terrible choice to choose Black Panther over Infinity War. Michael B. Jordan's performance was amazing in Black Panther but the plot and CGI of the movie caused Black Panther to be significantly less impactful that Infinity War.
Infinity War was talked about FAR MORE than Black Panther. After IW came out, thats all i heard anyone talking about. Sure, when BP cane out it was pretty popular, but all i hear from ANYONE from the month of May was Thanos, the Snap, and RIP Peter Parker.
1. I liked ready player because of the easter eggs. 2. BP was cool because we finally got to see a well put together villain. 3. Spiderverse had the best animation. Very unique. 4. Solo was crap. 5. JP was a meh. 6. Infinity War blew me away. Can't wait for Endgame. 7. Bumblebee was good simply because we finally got to see transformers directed by someone else. Hearing bee speak and have some solid emotions was great though.
1. i actually liked ready player one :// i have a soft spot for video game concept/comic book type movies and there was actually a lot i liked about it. the one thing that did damper it however was the unnecessary love story 2. into the spider verse is easily one of my favorite movies of all time. miles morales and spider gwen will be getting all of my cosplay and i’ve never even cosplayed or wanted to before. everything about it was completely lovable and i heavily agree that it’s possibly the best spider-man movie ever. not necessarily when it comes to the mcu but the artwork and the concept behind it and the representation!!!! if anyone hated it i hope they seek help bc obviously they hate happiness.
I agree with everything else on this list, I love the BP album and Venom, movie and song, but I think we can all agree that the worst film was Pacific Rim: Uprising. I loved the first and this film was the biggest disappointment ever for me. It is so bad I'd rather watch Justice League, Ghost Rider 2, attack of the clones for 10 days straight.
In my opinion if you're gonna have an Album for your Movie, put those songs in it. To me it felt like the BP album was a different entity than the film. Real best Album : into the spiderverse.
Hey I liked fallen kingdom. If you really think about it, which I hate doing, they are all dumb! Bringing dinosaurs to life with frog DNA, making a theme park with them, mercenaries in each film for no reason, inaccurate dinosaurs! I love the films so much.
1. Black panther WAS NOT movie of the year. That award should’ve gone to Infinity War because it left the audience wanting more. The villain, Thanos, was a hell of a lot more convincing as a character than Killmonger himself. Both great villains nonetheless but how often can you truly relate to a character such as Thanos? Not many. The album of BP was far better than the movie. That doesn’t mean it didn’t leave a cultural impact but def not movie of the year. And 2. Ready Player One shouldn’t have had worst flick of the year. That should’ve gone to Venom because I AT LEAST enjoyed watching RPO all the way through than watching the first 20 mins of Venom. Not only was the character development terrible in Venom but it was also non existent. Couldn’t find myself to enjoy no matter how hard I tried to turn off my brain. I’d rather watch RPO ten times than receive a BJ from Sophie Dee while we watch Venom. And I love bjs and Sophie Dee. But, to each their own.
Infinity war should’ve been movie of the year People are STILL talking about it and making memes about it Black panther was left behind in the dust or should i say ashes as soon as Infinity war came
Nah I love sunflower, just kinda my thing, additionally, Black Panthers final fight was a crappy, ugly mess of 2 cartoons attacking each other with no choreography. Thats just my opinion. P.s. I thought into the spiderverse was film of the year.
Umm let me start Fallen Kingdom, for me at least, was the best Jurassic sequel. It dived into ideas and themes that comment on the whole series, and no doubt had the best horror driven scenes of the franchise. The one that got me sick of the franchise was Fantastic Beasts 2 , that was just boring as you expected , not even dissapionting cause you have no expectations , no doubt the worst film in the whole Potter/Wizard world of Rowling. The one that sparked interest into a dead franchise the most for me was actually Bumblebee. If the films that Bay and co. are planning will be like this I'm totally on board.Although Tomb Raider was really interesting and I would definately watch a sequel The best soundtrack is easy for me.Into The Spider-Verse and Venom had only one strong song , so can't be them.A Star Is Born and Black Panther had amazing ones , man I love Kendrick, but no doubt the best one was Bohemian Rhapsody. The movie that brought new live into the group's classic songs and I love every one of the songs The best effects I will give to Mission Impossible Fallout cause 8/10 of the big blockbusters had great effects with the CG , but the stunt work and the choreographed action here was just a brilliant example of modern action scenes done great Oh that is kinda hard. The Nun , Ready Player One , Cloverfield Paradox they were all dissapionting, and films like Fantastic Beasts and Solo had no expectations what so ever to be considered , so it gotta be The Predator.I was expecting so much from this , the director, the cast , everything was great, but it was really underwealming. It was good , but it could've been the next great Predator film , but it turned out worse than AVP Ok what the fuck.I know that Deadpool 2 , Bohemian Rhapsody , M.I. 6 , Creed II , Into The Spider-Verse and Aquaman were all awesome.Black Panther was kinda great but really, I mean really overrated. No contest it's Infinity War.It was the movie of the year.It was the columination of the biggest franchise, it had so much going for it , killed the box office, spawned wacky memes , but most of all , it was deep , interesting and epic. The most iconic movie of mine generation , like since the Dark Knight that is the shit that people will remember But I still love your channel wish you all the best for next year and God find Kya already
Look, in the ideap world Hasbro abandoned Paramount after Dark of the moon, and then went to a BETTER studio (Disney, not sorry). And I'm between Spiderverde and IW, but given how it was something the industry NEEDED, Spiderverse for me. Ps: 2D isn't dead man just watch television...

Venom beating the black panther soundtrack hurt bad

A•S•H•L•E•Y G they have bias on the movie of the year award
But not from Disney or DreamWorks or the really famous places the 2D movies that can sometimes be gorgeous
Another year of being subscribed to Now This Nerd
Every single song except every punchline you yell "VENOOOOMMMM". This is something I have been doing for a while now.
On movie of the year I would say infinity war
I wonder if anyone knows where I could get that sweet sweater??
2D is not dead yet if you look you'll find 2D movies
Nah I think movie of the year goes to infinity war
Nah more people talked about Infinity War. Deal with it
YOU TAKE IT BACK!!! ALL OF IT!!!
1. Jurassic World was good and Fallen Kingdom was good too. Just because 2 and 3 were bad doesn't mean everything is bad.

This dude is stating facts except for calling ready player one not good that movie was so underrated and this list was terrible
Nah son World and Kingdom are straight up trash.
Actually i liked ready player one and i dont care if everyone hates it
The Worst of 2018 for me...
The deaths of Stan Lee and Stephen Hillenburg.
To be honest I really enjoyed the predator. It was fun and campy and I had a great time in theatres
I loved Ready Player One.

Least Wanted: Solo: A Star War Story
Best Movie: Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse
Worst Movie:The Happytime Murders
I loved ready player one 😥
Black panther is a great movie, but if you’re naming a movie that defined 2018, it has to be infinity war.
Nobody is talking about Halloween! It was such a fun throwback for horror
Black Panther was fucking amazing. Killmonger was so compelling and tragic. A great movie with clearly opposed philosophies that didn't collapse into a simple binary of good/evil. What happened to Bohemian Rapsody
Its been a goddamn great year to be a Spiderman fan.

JW Fallen Kingdom was a disappointment

spiderman : into the spiderverse & ready player one were tied as my best movie of the year.
I'm with you, I liked Solo! I actually loved it!!
The fantastic beast movie give more depth to the universe and explains that stuff happened even before Harry was born
If anyone says Jurassic world or fallen kingdom is bad
I WILL FITE U ON THE FREAKING STREET
In my opinion if you're gonna have an Album for your Movie, put those songs in it. To me it felt like the BP album was a different entity than the film. Real best Album : into the spiderverse.
Aquaman is the best and is better than black panther by leaps and bounds!
I approve of this video
ready player one n aquaman have the best vfx among 2018 films
Nobody on here is talking about how good bohemium rhapsody the movie was
3:50
Hey I liked fallen kingdom. If you really think about it, which I hate doing, they are all dumb! Bringing dinosaurs to life with frog DNA, making a theme park with them, mercenaries in each film for no reason, inaccurate dinosaurs! I love the films so much.
Aren’t awards supposed to be about the best things that happened, not the worst
hoang do razzies
Oh man, MANDY was aaahhhmaaazzzing!!!
Bohem Rahpsody anyone???
Huh, that Venom song...really?
He is so adorable
Ready player one was good what do you mean?
ready player one was great not a big not a disappointment
1. Black panther WAS NOT movie of the year. That award should’ve gone to Infinity War because it left the audience wanting more. Infinity war should’ve been movie of the year
People are STILL talking about it and making memes about it
Black panther was left behind in the dust or should i say ashes as soon as Infinity war came
You guys went way off base several times. But hey you are entitled to your opinions. See ya next year
Movie of the Year: Infinity War
Change my mind
Spider-Man into the Spider-Verse is top 2
Movie is the year : Mission Impossible: Fallout
IW changed everything even more than BP.
Ready player one was not terrible not the best and the book is amazing
You did the chucky one
Avengers:Infinity War>>>>>>>>>>>Black Panther
MI Fallout?
I saw lion king then bp. Tell me the difference
Wow.. Black panther is extremely overrated
Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom is extremely underrated.
That film is a 9/10 for me.
da wae same dude
Yeah I loved Jurassic world fallen kingdom but it's not as good as Jurassic park or Jurassic world
Um no it’s infinity war not black panther
How to kill Thanos
Can you make a Bruce Lee one
Still can’t find good hosts yet huh?
As much as I love Eminem the black panther soundtrack should’ve won
Black Panther...... r u kidding me.... Fallout nd Infinity War were wayy better imo
Dubstep's for pineapples 😂
Game of the year was by far THE WALKING DEAD THE FINAL SEASON
WHERE. IS. KYA!!!
She quit
She has her own channel called "kya quinn"
Nah I love sunflower, just kinda my thing, additionally, Black Panthers final fight was a crappy, ugly mess of 2 cartoons attacking each other with no choreography. Thats just my opinion. P.s. I thought into the spiderverse was film of the year.
I do it first
The movie bohemium rhapsody was by far the best movie of the year!
Umm let me start
Fallen Kingdom, for me at least, was the best Jurassic sequel.
If the films that Bay and co. are planning will be like this I'm totally on board.Although Tomb Raider was really interesting and I would definately watch a sequel
The best soundtrack is easy for me.Into The Spider-Verse and Venom had only one strong song , so can't be them.A Star Is Born and Black Panther had amazing ones , man I love Kendrick, but no doubt the best one was Bohemian Rhapsody. The movie that brought new live into the group's classic songs and I love every one of the songs
The best effects I will give to Mission Impossible Fallout cause 8/10 of the big blockbusters had great effects with the CG , but the stunt work and the choreographed action here was just a brilliant example of modern action scenes done great
Oh that is kinda hard. It was good , but it could've been the next great Predator film , but it turned out worse than AVP
Ok what the fuck.I know that Deadpool 2 , Bohemian Rhapsody , M.I. The most iconic movie of mine generation , like since the Dark Knight that is the shit that people will remember
But I still love your channel wish you all the best for next year and God find Kya already
Donald Trump's thank you next but we need Obama
The only Jurassic movie that i dont like is the 3rd one
Infinity War is way better than Black Panther. BP is extremely overrated
Venom really? Smh...
Y’all tripping
Look, in the ideap world Hasbro abandoned Paramount after Dark of the moon, and then went to a BETTER studio (Disney, not sorry). And I'm between Spiderverde and IW, but given how it was something the industry NEEDED, Spiderverse for me.
Ps: 2D isn't dead man just watch television...
Let's hope for a Latino lead suepr hero film!!
Spiderverse technically is
@@fjpz for sure i loved hearing Miles showing his latino roots so much, I'm happy he'll be the first in a new wave hopefully 🙏
*NO NO NO I WANT THE OJ KIA*
Detroit always wins
Everyone says black panther is really good but like u said I think it's not that good a movie
Heyyyyy. Jurassic park ,jurassic world , jurassic world fallen kingdom were the good Jurassic park movies those were good but 2and 3 were bad.
None of the Jurassic Park/World films are bad.
Yeahhhh... Even Jurassic park iii. The Jurassic park movies are good... And Jurassic park to me is the greatest movie of the 90s... Well my mistake.
@@dinoalienguy8789 Thank you.
Your welcome.
