Ordered my first Avet reel, as I’m learning how to use a conventional reel and figured the magnets would help me get used to it.

ive heard many times that these reels have bearing failure is this true has the issue been fixed?

I have just gotten an AVET EX 50/2 and I thought it was a 50 wide but it seems to be more narrow than I expected but it's still a 50 wide right?

And besides using a thumbless to me means your not an angler ,you might as well use a push button Mickey mouse reel to be honest

Is a avet exw 80/ 2 a good reel for bluefin tuna fishing?

My sx g2 6/4 can cast a mile with no backlash. Keep very light thumb pressure on the spoil during the cast will prevent it. Personally don’t think you need Mc

Just picked up the MXL 5.8 I'm used to using a penn spinfisher 6500 LC on Long Island I have the Avet paired with a Shimano Trevalia jigging rod can I cast with the MXL and if so what is a good casting rod to pair with it fairly new to conventional reels here

Looked like you had a few different models going there. love the 30 narrow, or without the crossbar, for tuna in the under 175lb range. Use the 50n if I know there have been 300lb fish around. Caught a 125lb yellowfin on a MXL G2 MC last year. Took some time and some boat skills but these reels are tanks. There are other good big game reels, but I have caught a lot of big fish on my Avets.

just got my MXJ MC , paired with phenix 8,2 . Every cast was bucklashed , some of casts were horrebly bucklashed, i used for casting 2oz sinker and 3oz iron, . I can say i was able to cast better my non casting Penn squall 30 without magnets. I dont know what i did wrong , it seems like magnet in these reels absolutly useless , i dont know how they casting with no thomb at all, maybe its for commercial . When i cast my Daiwa lexa 400 with magnet breaks i can do 80.100 yards without any problem sweet reel , but not enough drag . Avet MC reels work just like any other conventional reel, dont pay for MC , it does not work !

tips on none MC models please

I have an SX G2 6/4 MC. I fished with it may be 3-4 times. Didn't catch anything big. With fully loaded lines, the free spool gets about 3 revolutions. Is there a problem here?

Strange, my Avet won't free spool. The line doesn't seem to be slipping as more drag makes it impossible to move the line.

I have several Avet raptors, I use Sufix 832 or PowerPro slick 65 and 80 lb on them and can cast 5 oz. at least 140 yds with the Jx 6.0 and over 200 yds measured, with a slightly modified Sx raptor on 13 ft Daiwa Ballistic rods. I use 10- 20 yds of 125 lb braid topshot, and I dont get backlash. Braid is your best friend, just dont use anything less than 65 lb. I use them for shark fishing in Texas, and they are awesome. This kind of range could never be achieved with mono that can dominate 100 lb plus sharks on the beach .
