I have 2 of these Exact Metal Stools that I found in trash on the road lol. Except mine don't have the wood on top and they are Lime Green 😳🤦🏼♀️🤣 and looks like paint job may have been by a child lol also looks like the under color is yet another bright one, Neon Yellow! 🤦🏼♀️ lol and the green was put on so awfully it has drip marks down all the legs and still not covering them fully lol that's how I see the yellow underneath! 🤣🤣 Yeah just a huge mess!! lol Anyways so I wanted to redo them and I'm very new to this stuff lol! So I'm a little nervous, but I don't think they can get any worse! 🤣🤣 So literally the vision I have in my head, is to sand this green down and paint them black and I was thinking of using a contact paper on top and I found some cute wood grain paper! TBH I came here looking for info on if I can use a sander on them without leaving scratches & also what size grit to use. And typed in "Redo Metal Barstools" and this is first video it should and I'm kinda shocked that it's not only my Exact Stools but also Almost My Exact Vision!! 😳 Guess it's Fate!! LMAO 🤣🤣 So my questions are, can I use sander, what grit is best and will my contact paper idea work for this, and if so then do I need to seal it and if so then, what do I need to seal with? 😳😬🫣 Sorry I know it's a lot of questions but I'd be so grateful for any help or tips from anyone that would know any of these answers? lol Also yours turned out great, I'm so excited to do mine but still nervous too!! 🤦🏼♀️🤣🤣🤣 GOD BLESS YOU, ME & THE IN 2023! 💜🙏🏽💙🙏🏿💚🙏🏻💛🙏🏾🧡🙏🏼❤️
Ok so after watching entire video I can see that, I don't really need to use a sander to remove the green paint if I use a primer, since I'm going with black as the new color, correct? Also does yours not have a top or seat without the wood on top? Mine do, they don't have wood or cushions on top but the entire stool is metal and it's not fully open at top, there is a 2 in x 5 in hole in center of the top but that's it. And I wanted to put contact paper on the top seat. Any idea if this can work?
I love these!!! Beautiful job!
Great looking stools.
nice work Jesse
Cool!
Looks good man
Why not strip the paint to the metal? Also, mines chipped to the metal so will mean a new coat will be lumpy
Awesome work. I’m doing a similar project but no wood top. Would you recommend doing a clear coat over it after the paint dries?
Hi.
Did you get an answer about this?
Cheers
Or fid you use a top coat?

Jesus girl. RE-LAX
Did you seal these with anything? I just did 4 of the same exact barstools for my outdoor bar but I don’t know what kind of sealer to use
What primer did you use ?
Do you NEED to use a primer?? And why?
