I'm so glad I found this video, as I was researching to upgrade my similar stools. Now I know you said you tested, but no scrapping really when the seat is adjusted?.. the only thing that scares me.. thank you

I’m blown away that painting chrome without sanding is even possible! I have two chrome chairs with vinyl cushions and I hate chrome. The chairs are very comfortable so I’d like to keep them and I was thinking of painting the chrome and the vinyl but everyone else has told me I must somehow etch the chrome or sand it or the paint won’t stick. I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to know that I can just paint the chrome! So impressed! Thank you so much.
Some of us here in America are anxiously awaiting the pajama wearing, puppy loving, Aussie! Hope all is well with you and you haven’t caught this bug. Take care.
Omg you're so sweet haha. I'm good thanks. I didn't catch the bug but the booster knocked me off my feet! I'm planning my next project. In the meantime I'm still active on Insta and Facebook :)
That was a great makeover. I am not fond of white, either, so I really the results here. I know you said I could probably reproduce similar pieces here, but, I forgot to mention that I, too, can be lazy. Enjoy hanging out and seeing what you do to things. Perhaps I will be moved to try something new, but, until then, thank you Rachelle!!⭐❤️
Wow! I had no idea those could be painted! That opens up way more design avenues; can see using those techniques on many, many things. Thank you for the education.
Hi thank you for the advice I managed to spray black gloss on the previous white painted metal brackets it came out ok not to a professional level as to be expected I did my best and I am satisfied with the results Kindest regards Mark
The chairs turned out amazing💕🌻.. So my entire house is white and grey (all the years) I struggle with colour, but I've been incorporating Olive green and mustard (similar to your chair)... And I'd have never thought, but they go beautifully together. Thanks to all your inspiration 💕🌻
So good to see you again!! Miss my crazy Aussie friend!! I have 2 modern tall back vinyl and metal chairs, given to me by a friend who was moving and downsizing! They are red with chrome, and do not fit the modern farmhouse vibe of my house.. I know what I'm doing with them now!!!!
You never cease to amaze me Rachelle. Not sure I would have tackled those stools, but you didn't hesitate and they turned out awesome. I love the colour of the seats. As always, GREAT JOB!! Enjoy the rest of your day!! 😊👍🐶🌞
I just love love love how you transformed those chairs, that combination of black and ocre yellow is just amazing , brings such a retro elegant wibe of some passed hpapy days :)
Thanks Annie. I haven't but I'd actually be really keen to. I good Primer would be really important. I'd use Lignocolor transparent Primer under whatever paint I chose ... and I'd use an all in one paint ... Probably Pureco Silk. I'd also add another lay of top coat for extra durability
Those look great! When you show the glamour shots at the end, can you make sure there is a picture showing the whole item? I have noticed sometimes there isn't one, and I really want to see it. Thanks for the great videos!
Beautiful finish, never occurred to me to paint the seat but want to try now!! Also I loved watching the dogs with the water, my doodle does that when I water the garden haha 😘😘
FANTASTIC! I don't even like yellow but you did a NICE job on these bar stools! Wish I lived closer--I'd flip with you! hahah Hmmmm....Is Florida THAT far from you?? teehee
Smashing. I need to paint my white massage table. Is very stained because the cover is black and I was wondering if I need special paint or maybe spray? I was thinking to do it in dark gray color.
Great idea to paint it! Just make sure you use a chalk paint, as that is flexible (not something with a built in top coat). Dark grey would be great. Just very lightly sand it and rub in wax, and it'll be great.
Great video! I really want to spray the bottom of mine gold so im hoping they do that spray in a gold :D Do you find the spray comes off on your feet at all once rested on the foot rest?
Thanks Corinne. Yes they do gold :) The paint doesnt come off with regular use but I think if the height was adjusted a lot it would. Ours pretty much stayed at the same height all the time so it wasn't an issue
WOW WOW WOW! Looks sooo good! I’m actually using these colors plus a shade of blue to redecorate my living room! My sofas are the same color as the seats! I was wondering , you don’t have to lightly sand the metal? And the beeswax you used, can you use regular chalk wax?
About two weeks ago I painted the vinyl on some chairs I have but it’s already starting to crack apart I sealed it twice with furniture wax. Is it because I didn’t use pureco?
Hi thank you for your message I’m going to buy Rust-Oleum AE0040026E8 400ml Painter's Touch Spray Paint - Glo... black gloss can you recommend to use a sanding block and grade to prep or can I use a green scouring pad like the one used for dish washing the brackets for re spray I must say your dog is beautiful thank you very much
Unfortunately the paint will not stay on long. Even a two part automotive primer will not stick to chrome unless it has been properly sanded and treated with an adhesion promoter. I know, I restore vintage cars.
That's good to know thanks. They're still looking good at the moment but they haven't seem much action. What paint would you recommend for chrome (if any?)
@@CraftedbyMonnowLane The topcoat paint really doesn't matter as long as the chrome has been properly sanded and primed. I would recommend starting with 100 grit and stepping it down all the way to 240 grit. It's not a quick process unfortunately. Then prime with a 2 part epoxy primer. After that your good to go with just about any topcoat. Love your channel, have a great day!!

I love the colours you’ve chosen any form of yellow is one of my favourite colours and the okra looks gorgeous and rich
Thanks Deborah. Yep, mustard and greens are always my gotos! You can go wrong with a bit of mustard huh?
@@CraftedbyMonnowLane one certainly can’t. Any of the autumnal colours.
Thanks for sharing this. I see so many of these stools chucked out when the chrome starts to get rusty. Such an easy fix :-)
Right? The possibilities are endless!! :)
Can't wait to see the transformation!

Very cool Rachelle. They look great in your refreshment area. The black wax adds a rich touch. Enjoy!🥤🍕

No, any chalk paint should be fine. Was it chalk?
@@CraftedbyMonnowLane yes. Folk Art It’s the cheap brand.
I've never used that sorry. What Wax did you use, and did you rub it in really well then buff it off?
@@CraftedbyMonnowLane Yes! Very well! It was cheap generic wax.
The Wax may be the problem then. It may have dried to hard and not be flexible
Hi I hope you don’t mind asking you this question I have a metal bracket painted silver can I over spray black gloss with out a primer Thank you
You can do, but you'd be better to just give it a quick scuff sand first to give the paint something to adhere to. Rustoleum spray paint is awesome:)

Hi! May I know how long did the spray paint take to dry?
I can't remember to be honest, but in our Aussie weather it wouldn't have been long at all. 15 minutes maybe
Are They Still In Good Condition? No Scraping? I Have Had Trouble With Getting Mine Not To Scrap 😩
Mine are doing ok Kent but I'm not sure how long it would cope with a lot of use. Maybe there is some type of sealer that would help?
@@CraftedbyMonnowLane The topcoat paint really doesn't matter as long as the chrome has been properly sanded and primed. Awesome, thanks so much x
Does the paint come off the seats/transfer if it gets wet? X
not at all. The wax seals it really well
Does the paint hold on the metal parts?
I did with little use. I think if it was seeing a lot of use I would have added extra protection to it
