Hey Emma! This is Akanksha from India. I found your channel last year and have been watching your videos ever since. I just never found the courage to comment on any of it. Your videos are and have been a constant source of warmth, comfort, and joy for me. You've inspired me and reignited my love of books. I love when you're open about the struggles of daily reality. Keep making long vlogs, and I wish you all the happiness in the world. Sending you lots of love.
I love b-roll because I end up chilling to the music and thinking my own thoughts, which usually are the relaxing ones because of the footage. Also I'm often surprised how similar your nature is to ours, I'm from the suburbs of Stockholm. We got our first snow yesterday, and I thought of you :) Yes to the way routine! Speaking as a curly girlie :)
opening the video with you wearing a cat hoodie and calcfier and grendal on the kitchen counter was the cutest thing ever p.s : emma i let my mom read one hundred years of solitude because of your videos on it , and she told me to thank you , because you have a good taste in books , so thank you lol
I really struggle with anxiety going into work every day. I literally have to talk myself through it every morning. For a long time i just thought i was being overdramatic or lazy but knowing someone else also kind of deals with that anxiety is really validating. I hope you get through it and enjoy your classes! ❤
First time I read Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell I remember having the same experience. After finishing it though, I found my self thinking about it alot. It's the kind of book that sticks with you. I reread a couple of months later and was the best experience I ever had reading a book. After I finished it I read the ladies of grace adieu and other stories which take place in the same setting. Just writing this makes me feel like starting it again ❤
I finished JONATHAN STRANGE AND MR NORRELL last week and gave it 5 stars. It was one of the most consistently imaginative books I've read in years. I couldn’t believe the amount of apparent research that went into this, and the way Clarke stayed in the narrator’s voice from the first page to the last. It seemed like she spent years reading and taking notes on the literature of magic and faery lore in England, the war with France, and even the details of Venice 100 years ago. Like Emma, I didn’t care much about the fates of the characters but the novel took me months to finish and it relieved me of the pit and prune juice of my capitalist drudgelife every time I opened it up. Also highly recommend Piranesi by Clarke - short but so cool and fun!
your anxiety experience just feel so similar to mine emma , i'm so glad that someone can get me just by opening up about their experience , i'm glad you exist !!
Ballet really suits you! Grendel sleeping in your arms as you were doing your own thing was adorable. Hope you share your wavy hair journey. Thank you for putting yourself out there even on days when you are feeling anxious :)
Sometimes I struggle to hang with vlogs, but this was just purely delightful and encouraged me to continue to romanticize my life and seek out my dreams of reading with peace at home. Thanks, Emma, for holding a safe space for us.
just pust jonathan strange down for now! i read like the first 200 pages when i was 15, put it down because it was too long of a process getting through and then finished it up 4-ish years later loving it sooooooo much. i was honestly also really surprised at how easy and seamless it was to get back into, but it worked so so well for me this way and it’s one of my favourite books now :) i don’t think anybody in the bookclub would be mad ;)
I agree with this, I bought it a couple of years ago and did not make it past 100 pages but this time I loved it, one of the best books I read this year.
Wavy hairstyle really suits you, so, yes, I'd gladly hear about your hair routine as well. 🥹 And all the clothes are very adorable too. And so are your cats and yourself ofc, and the way you speak about books is so engaging that I enjoyed listening even though I've sadly read none of those featured in this vlog 💮
It is great to hear you talk about your anxiety and self-esteem struggles because they are so relatable. I can't count the number of times I've said no to opportunities because I was so anxious about what people would think or that the outcome wouldn't be perfect. All that to say, I'm grateful you share that part of you online to help me feel a little less alone in the struggle. Love and gratitude to you Emma!
the section of the vlog where you talk about your anxiety is really resonating with me. I recently started a channel and have had so many mixed feelings now that im posting regularly. it was really nice to hear you talk in a vulnerable way about it. your videos inspire me to keep making my own!
Awww i wanted to hug you when you were experiencing anxiety before the ballet class because it is very much the reason why I havent gotten around to signing up for knitting classes or going to the gym 🥲 but the fact that you still go is so inspiring ❤
Seeing Calcifer on his back looking at the camera 😍🐈 and Grendel on your lap while you are working 🥰🐈⬛ They are both so adorable. Enjoy your new life and remember this: we appreciate and love you and the content you produce. Don't ever doubt that. ❤
There's nothing more cozy than reading in the comfort of your home, listening to music gushing into your ears like a moving river, with warm socks on in late autumn weather, your mind venturing out into a distant literary landscape 🙏🙏🙏 Praying you don't go down the path of Black Swan 😆
Absolutely lovely video. I can’t tell you how excited I was to wake up and see that you posted another vlog at your new place. Thank you so much for sharing aspects of your personal life. It’s not an easy thing, but it has really helped me get through my own issues. It’s nice to know you’re not alone. Also, really good ballet technique. It isn’t easy, but the articulation of your feet is great.
Winter is also my favourite season, because I live in a hideously hot place of late (global warming yay) and when it's winter I'm finally at peace and comfortable and I adore the snow if I get it and blankets and tea❄️🫶🏻 HOWEVER, it being dark at 16:30h as I commute to uni is diabolical😭
Where I live in the North of England, the sun now sets at 3:45pm😵 I used to struggle in the darkness of winter. But now that I'm bedbound and my light intolerance is so bad, sunset and onwards is actually the only time I can have my curtains open so I love it now! Winter is paradoxically now a time of more light (sunset light, candlelight, starlight) for me, and the summer months are months of darkness (my curtains never open April-August). It's been a weird perspective shift!
I started ballet class at the beginning of this year and it’s been so scary, but also so rewarding 😊 Fun to see you enjoying the same! How was it for you going back? 💛
I'm so glad you went to your ballet class. Keep going! I hadn't taken ballet for over 30 years and was literally horrified. My first day there were 3 of us, one 30 years my junior and a previous professional dancer and the other probably even older than myself. But I kept up except for the large jumps which my left knee can no longer do😢. But I kept the classes up for a while even during Covid via Zoom meetings😂. Then I had an illness in my family. It is on pause for now but walks are very helpful. Also i wanted to thank you for your wonderful vlogs! You have a very calming voice, and you are a great vlogger/artist. Keep up the great work!
I'm so glad you are doing ballet! You have good hands and a natural port de bras! I need to psych myself up to go before every single class, even after nearly 30 years of dancing. And I took about ten years off in my twenties, went back to ballet and modern in my thirties, actually performed at age 36, and am still going ten years later -- so it's absolutely possible to persevere and find joy in movement through all of the self-criticism and doubt.
I had to start Jonathan Strange and Mister Norrell twice, years apart. The first time, I also hit a reading slump about a quarter through. The second time, however, I started again... and it surprised me. I loved the writing style and the wit and the journey the characters went on and the scope of it. It was a really rewarding reading experience in the end!
There's no such a thing as a b-roll in an Emmie video! The cats look super chilled and as regards perfection in our leisure pursuits we are only ever required to have the perfect attitude.❤
I love the vibes that are coming out of your videos since moving! I’m not in such a happy place rn (i have a really hard major in college and am very alone) but the moving vlogs are just providing the happy moments I need.
My hair is wavy-curly, more on a curly side. Yours is definitely wavy, and I love it! Play with your natural hair. It is perfect for your face shape and it looks so healthy. Thank you for another beautiful video. 🌟My soul is elated after watching it. 🍂🍁🐈🦅
Hi ! Thanks for the video, your vlogs always comfort me ♡ my cat did not care for her cushion neither even though we tried to put it on many different spots, until we turned it upside down as a joke in front of her (??). She just curled on the rough part and has loved it ever since. I don't get it but as long as she is happy 🥰
Hi😊 just wanted to tell you that your videos are great, they inspired me throughout my literature journey at uni, and they still motivate me to read and explore new genres. Thank you so much for starting this youtube channel, and for continuing to post.🥰
Recovering perfectionist here 🙋🏻♀️ I did ballet for 6 months a couple of years ago (at 22) with the explicit goal of being bad. I love ballet but I knew I’d be far from the top of the class and also that you can’t focus too much on your mistakes when dancing because the next movement is always coming! It helped and I’m sure I’ll go back to it one day - all to say I get you! Thanks for another wonderful vlog, always love the vids ❤xx
I just absolutely love your videos. Every single one makes me want to leave the U.S. and move to Canada. Also, love your hair!! It would be fun even just to experiment with wavy/curly hair products and see how that can make a difference. One easy thing you can try first is to section your wet hair when you put product in and when you brush through it, twist the brush first (I specifically have a Denman brush I use specifically for that, but it would be similar with any brush). I have found that it helps "train" the hair to be more wavy. Then I typically palm mousse/gel and scrunch the mousse/gel to each section to hold my curls, that could help keep more of your hair stay wavy.
Having a really low mental health day today and randomly decided to open UA-cam and seen that you posted which made me so happy! Thank you for creating such a comfort space for me and others 🫶
"There's a lot of winter content coming your way." Oh, just music to my ears 🥰 *love* the cat content & I'm not even a cat person.... Emma slowly converting me 🫡
i know how you feel getting out and doing stuff but when i started volunteering again i figure it wouldn't be so bad since i've done it before and going to the library to volunteer is just so relaxing and next i'm going to do pottery cause ever since i've watch your videos or other videos i've been wanting to potter for some time now thank you for this video your doing a great job
Divine rivals is my favorite book of the year it was so good the writing was so good and i loved the letters/pen pals trope so good 5/5 stars can’t wait to read the sequel soon 😃
I loved this, Emma! I will be visiting my sister in Jasper next week ( I haven't seen her in 5 years!) I will be thinking of you and soaking up all the beauty. Despite the fire damage!
Omg unexpected video drop!!🥹 Thank you so so much for colouring our life with your impeccable videos ✨✨ p.s. I got Pickwick Papers and War n Peace because of you 😂
these videos instill so much peace which is a nice deviation from the general chaos in my head. please watch the interview with a vampire show, it is amazing and i would love for you to also experience it!
I have wanted to start ballet classes for over 2 years now, but never did it because I have never danced before. But hearing that you started again really makes me want to do it now. Feels like a sign😂 Love these long vlogs, really looking forward to watching it over the next few days in my breaks from working on my master thesis❤
fellow winter lover here that likes the cold but struggles with the darkness :( I live in Norway, so soon the daylight will last only about 7 hours. I think adding some warm lights around the house for a cozy ambience might help, there are a few videos on ytube showcasing how different a place feels before and after adding multiple small light sources ❤
Also, completely and fully understand your struggle with anxiety. Thank you for openly talking about it, sometimes just sharing and hearing someone speak about something we are struggling with internally can help provide perspective and remove the completely unfair and unnecessary feeling of shame that often comes with it - I appreciate it! 🌼
Love this vlog, so cozy- Wanna be you when I grow up lol. Also, just an FYI, us wavy hair girlies are also curly hair girlies - there's a scale and you just have probably 2a/2b curls :) What I do (I have slightly wavier hair than you) is after the shower, I put in a cream and then braid my hair to minimize the frizz and define my curls a little more. I also wet my hairbrush a little bit before brushing and it's a very light brushing. Also look into silk pillowcases to minimize frizz and any further damage.
Just watching your footage from that lovely walk you took - have you ever considered birding? It’s the best solitude/nature hobby that is soooo soothing and a great way to make local friends too. I’ve always loved birds but when I turned 30 everyone else in my life became birders too, it’s great 😂 thanks for the vlog, this was so peaceful to watch with my morning tea! I’m thinking of starting a channel so it’s reassuring that even bigger creators still get nervous about putting themselves out there!
The thing with Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrel is for you to feel the vibe, I really got entertained and basically eated the book about page 500. For me was the people at the ball and the constant thought of wtf is happening her
Who is this king they talk about?!, I literally imagined this guy as sandman Tom Sturridge. I didn't care much about the characters, but I liked them lol, Jonathan Strange being the embodiment of "I don't care, I just do it" and me wanting someone to throw Mr. Norrel out the window because holy shit what a boring old man
Hi Emma, just wanted to say that if you loved Divine Rivals you need to read The Elements of Cadence duology by the same author, it is so so soooo good!! Both books are equally amazing and it has a lot of nature descriptions
I have a hard time leaving my apartment, even when it's to a nice and easy place like visiting my family. The anxiety starts the day before. I've been able to manage it by telling myself that I can just not go, if it feels hard or tiring. My family will understand it and will accommodate and help in any way they can. I've then always been able to leave when it's time. This is kind of similar to a tip I once read about how to get yourself to go to the gym or running or whatever exercise. Instead of thinking about needing to go or forcing yourself, you give yourself small steps and permission to turn back if you feel like it. Like "Let's just put our exercising clothes/gear on or in the bag ready to go, but then we can just stay in." "Well, lets just put on the shoes, but we can just take them off again." "Since we got our shoes on, we might as well go out, but we can always turn back." Being merciful to ourselves and giving permission to turn back whenever we want and usually the leaving/going is able to sort of happen "accidentally", with these small steps. Thank you for your videos.
The book definitely drags in the middle, and its a LONG middle, it took me really long to get through it with the audiobook, but i found that weeks after finishing it I still thought about the characters a lot. I feel like the praise is deserved in the sense that is unique and the writing style is magical, but you can tell it's a debut novel after a while. I really recommend Piranesi because it has that magic you feel in the first 100 chapters of Jonathan and Norrel but in a way where a story is actually told effectively haha. I'd say don't give up, but know that is not Susanna's strongest work and i hope it doesn't put you off from reading her other books
The opening with Calcifer and Grendel waiting patiently was so delightful…Grendel has really filled out.
This is totally off-topic but Emma: you’re literally glowing! So happy that you finally found a place where you can be happier ✨
I feel the same and she looks so much younger
“I don’t need to be perfect to move” 🥺 really needed this today💞💞💞
Girl i'm trying to 😂
The clip of you dancing in the dark is so beautiful! Like why am i tearing up Emma?!?!

„The movement is perfect for me. I don‘t need to be perfect to move.“ That‘s so beautiful, had to write it in my diary right away 😌❤️
I just saw the first snow of the year and I thought of you, I appreciate the cold a little more because of you ❤

Emma, that red zip up you’re wearing when your talking about your hair is such a good red on you! It suits you so well 💕
Ballet really suits you! Grendel sleeping in your arms as you were doing your own thing was adorable. Hope you share your wavy hair journey. Thank you for putting yourself out there even on days when you are feeling anxious :)
Oh my god, I loved the ballet segment. You looked so graceful.

what a delightful, peaceful vlog. perfect for watching while I was working on some writing
There's nothing more cozy than reading in the comfort of your home, listening to music gushing into your ears like a moving river, with warm socks on in late autumn weather, your mind venturing out into a distant literary landscape
🙏🙏🙏 Praying you don't go down the path of Black Swan 😆
Absolutely lovely video. I can’t tell you how excited I was to wake up and see that you posted another vlog at your new place.
Thank you so much for sharing aspects of your personal life. It’s not an easy thing, but it has really helped me get through my own issues. It’s nice to know you’re not alone.
Also, really good ballet technique. It isn’t easy, but the articulation of your feet is great.
This is probably one of my fav videos I’ve watched on youtube 🤍🤍🤍
So happy for you, seeing you glow in a new place, but also, what an AMAZING place you moved to!!!! All the nature is so beautiful, it's amazing

wishing everyone here safe & comzy cozy vibes!
I am sure this vlog will cure the blues I've been feeling all week long❤
the sound of a book being placed on a shelf *ahhh :)*
Buying new beds (or anything else for that matter) for the cats and them not using the new stuff is so relatable. 😂
When I see you posted a new vlog I get so happy! I'm loving your new place ❤
Calcifer up on that shelf and on his back with his tummy exposed❤ Grendel is adorable. I love everything about this video!
I highly suggest sticky tac for keeping down trinkets. I use it for my desk at work to save my knick knacks from the cleaners and it works great!

Love these long vlogs, really looking forward to watching it over the next few days in my breaks from working on my master thesis❤
I’m also writing my thesis, good luck!!

thank you sm for posting these vlogs emma!!! you dont know how happy i get every time i see that you’ve posted a new moving vlog:)
fellow winter lover here that likes the cold but struggles with the darkness :( I live in Norway, so soon the daylight will last only about 7 hours.
Some nice ASMR with the keyboard sounds and the sleeping Grendel ❤️
Love this vlog, so cozy- Wanna be you when I grow up lol. Also, just an FYI, us wavy hair girlies are also curly hair girlies - there's a scale and you just have probably 2a/2b curls :) What I do (I have slightly wavier hair than you) is after the shower, I put in a cream and then braid my hair to minimize the frizz and define my curls a little more. I also wet my hairbrush a little bit before brushing and it's a very light brushing. Also look into silk pillowcases to minimize frizz and any further damage.
Awesome Hawk footage!
Beautiful fall leaves!
I held on to JSAMN for SO LONG but I finally left it behind and dnfed and now I’m truly free
Love a long vlog so much!!!
Literally just finished reading The Halloween Tree for the first time 🎃 i loved it!
Been watching & loving these vlogs💙📚🐈☕🍁🍂
Just watching your footage from that lovely walk you took - have you ever considered birding? It’s the best solitude/nature hobby that is soooo soothing and a great way to make local friends too. I’ve always loved birds but when I turned 30 everyone else in my life became birders too, it’s great 😂 thanks for the vlog, this was so peaceful to watch with my morning tea! I’m thinking of starting a channel so it’s reassuring that even bigger creators still get nervous about putting themselves out there!
AHHHH ALMOST AN HOUR, HOW GENEROUS 🥰
Calcifer has my heart🧡
Ive never been so early and so excited! Thanks for keeping me company during my workday ❤
Emma, I love your videos, especially long ones
Both books are equally amazing and it has a lot of nature descriptions
you’re spoiling us!!!
YESS!!!! i am so ready for another vlog while i cook
Like "Let's just put our exercising clothes/gear on or in the bag ready to go, but then we can just stay in." "Well, lets just put on the shoes, but we can just take them off again." "Since we got our shoes on, we might as well go out, but we can always turn back."
Being merciful to ourselves and giving permission to turn back whenever we want and usually the leaving/going is able to sort of happen "accidentally", with these small steps.
