I’m loving the vibes ever since she moved away from Toronto. As cool as cities can be, it felt a bit like it was drowning out Emma’s light. But now our queen is in full bloom again and I’m here for it! 🌸✨
Drummond's poetry is so beautiful! And in case anybody is wondering, this particular excerpt is from the poem "Canto ao homem do povo - Charles Chaplin" (Song for the man of the people - Charles Chaplin) which was originally published in his book "A rosa do povo" (The people's rose).
Emma, your travel anxiety sounds very similar to mine and what I’ve experienced my whole life. I also could not go on school trips or friends sleepovers for fear of having panic attacks! I am 65 years old now, and my anxiety around travel still exists however I was well up into my 30’s before I got it somewhat under control, with help from counselling and anti anxiety medication. The struggle is real, and the best way to help someone with anxiety is to talk about it and be understanding. I love your channel, and all your book recommendations, and I always look forward to your new videos! Keep up the good work 😊
The poem in the comment you showed on the video is titled “Canto ao Homem do Povo” (Song to the Man of the People), a tribute Drummond wrote to Charlie Chaplin. Carlos Drummond de Andrade is widely considered the most brilliant poet from Brazil. I had the privilege of reading many of his poems in Portuguese and they are truly fantastic. I had a look at the translated edition you mentioned (Multitudinous Heart) and certainly looks like a great place to start. It’s a compilation that contains many of his most famous works (José, Sentiment of the World, Clear Enigma, In the Middle of the Road and others). Definitely worth reading.
emma i appreciate you sm!!! thank you for the back to back vlogs, they're such a big pick-me-up for me, they calm me soo much!! i love listening to the little chats & i especially lovee the nature clips, they really motivate me to go outside & move around.
Is not that I didn't enjoyed your videos pre-moving, but there is definitely something different with the lasts ones, you seem more content and relaxed and you can "feel" it through the screen ♥️
You may already know this but something that helped me when I would always get shin splints is to do toe rises and toe walk for a few minutes before my run. That was the only stretch for me that helped to prevent them.
i feel you with having anxiety about showing that you have anxiety. i always feel this way when i get anxious & it just makes it so much worse. but i agree that sharing does help a lot!!
I'm glad you're sharing your anxiety experiences because mine are similar. I still find travelling pretty scary (especially the whole fuss around getting to the destination as public transport of whatever kind makes me stressed - especially the prospect arriving too late or way too early) but I'm able to do it. My younger self would never believe it.
I oh soooo wish that long-pressing on the like button could turn it into a heart. Because Emma, you have it❤😊 I have been a bit anxious the past couple of days, because of my seemingly "in-vain" job hunt thingy. I can't tell you how much comfort your voice, cal and gren, and you bring to me❤
When you mentioned a drama with the word "snow," I immediately thought of When the Weather is Fine. It's set in a Korean town full of snow and ice. There's a coffee house, a book club, stories, and a forest. That's all I'm saying! It's really slow-paced, but it's one of my favorite K-dramas ever. I think you would love it too, Emma :)
omg emma , for Carlos and the poem that the lovley Diana translanted , i'm not pretty sure where it's from but its meaning in english is just so beautiful . but i read a couple of translanted poems by him from a book called A Rosa Do Povo . and one of the poems in english called people's rose he writes But there is a finer ear that listens, an artist's chest that swells, and a rose opens, a secret communicates, the poet announced, the poet, in the darkness, announced and yes i thought that was Gorgeous
i had horrible shin splints after i first started running and they finally went away after about a year of running consistently. what helped me most was taking ibuprofen before each run to prevent the swelling and then icing straight afterwards. it’s so painful and unfortunately it just takes a long time for your body to get used to running😭i hope you’re able to get back into it soon! i know how discouraging it can be to be held back by an injury
I have Bose noise cancelling headphones that I bought recently and tried them on the plane. Life changing! I wasn’t even listening to audio books, just ambient music… but you don’t realize how loud the plane is until you cancel the noise!
There are some really gorgeous places in Arizona and the further north you go it just gets more and more stunning. I love road tripping through the state and I find something new every time I’m there. Have fun hiking!!!
I discovered something lately about my acne that I thought might be helpful to you - I'm vegan, and I know you are too, so I'm assuming you take a B-12 supplement? Apparently B-12 supplements can cause cystic acne around the chin and jawline. They have way more B-12 than the body needs every day, and I guess that's where the rest goes! I've cut back on mine, and I haven't had a painful zit since. Thought I'd share in case you haven't explored that possibility.
Yay another video!! By the way, you might like UA-camr Tirion Law. She's part of the National Ballet of Canada and shares behind the scenes as a dancer!
Hi Emma, I had issues with my shins when I started running. I changed my shoes, I stretched, but nothing worked. Maybe, you should try to use the muscle tape (if that's how it is called), that helped a little, but it is not completely effective. I had pain on both of my legs for a few weeks, when I stopped running completely, a month later, the pain disappeared. I hope you have better luck and you find something that works for you, but the recovery is not quick. Good luck!
Hi Emma, that Ben Okri quote on your phone came from me, when I had a different UA-cam handle. It’s from his book The Famished Road, I think. It’s magical realism and it won the Booker Prize. I don’t have a copy now because it was a library book. … I hope your trip to Arizona is awesome! - Kyle
Travel anxiety? 🙋♀️Yep. I have problems sometimes just taking the subway or being on a bridge. I try to think of all the fun things waiting for me once I get to where I'm going. Will be here for all the travel info and anxiety beating clues you'll share. You can do this.❤
when you say "better shoes" im assuming you mean super cushioned shoes, im a casual runner, and I use barefoot style shoes. they have little to no padding, and have a wide toe box to allow for toe mobility. I buy my shoes from the website xeroshoes, but there are a lot of other brands. when I would run in thickly cushioned shoes I was more comfortable while running, but got more injuries after the fact. but in barefoot shoes, it was uncomfortable at first to run in them, but long term its been fantastic for my feet and knees. ive been wearing them for about 3 years now and don't think im ever going back to super cushiony shoes. its different for everyone though, so just an option to consider while you're researching!
The translation of the poem "came too late to a world too old" Reminds me of the poem "hamesha der kar deta hoon main" "I always make it late" by Munir Niazi I do apologize if the language if translated version isn't poetic enough, the original uses very simple language.(hindi) I'll try to translate the a few lines from the poem To convey important matters, To make good upon a promise, To give it voice or take it back I always make it late. To console someone before their death a past woes,to say that things were really another way,to prevent them the tears of another day I always make it late.
Honestly packing for a trip makes me the most anxious 😬 Doesn’t matter if I do it early or the night before. And for me the worst part about flying is getting to the airport (usually because the only option around here is driving). Once I’m there and my only job is to get on the plane I’m good. Even public transit once I get there totally fine. Just driving 🙃
Giselle is soooo sad, if you enjoyed the ballet I really recommend the Royal Opera House (especifically Natalia Osipova's) rendition of it! Simply espectacular
Still in the middle of the video. With wet books, the best option is to put paper towels between the pages in intervals of ten pages or so and press them to get excess water out and blow dry/ fan them or fan out the pages and air dry. And then have something heavy on it and leave it like that for about a day. And freezing them will also prevent mold if you can’t deal with it right away. However, I’m not sure there’s much you could do at this point as these solutions only really work immediately after the book was made wet.
The books I've read (and loved❤) this year thanks to Emma's recommendations: Khalil Gibran (The prophet, Broken wings), Ice Palace by T. Vesaas, The doll maker of Krakow by R.Romero aaaaand The letters to a young poet, obviously by Rilke. So grateful for this vlog🥰
I was always somewhere between wanting to fly in an airplane and disliking the idea of it. I want to be thirty thousand feet in the sky! That's the fun part! But turbulence and being stuck in the same spot for so many hours was why I never wanted to fly. I've helped by own anxiety by learning to be better at initiating casual conversation with people. I don't want to be stuck with someone sitting next to me who I can't talk to!
Giselle is one creepy ballet i love it! I was a dumb kid and when my mum took me to see it for the first time i actually thought all the ballerinas in the forest were dead lol. I hope you enjoyed it 😊
Emma, i've already watched The Nutcracker and Sleeping Beauty. I'd love to see Giselle! Loved to see Calcifer and Grendel playing while you were talking about The Winter King. Wish you have a great time in Arizona! 😊♥️♥️♥️
I've always had travel anxiety, but last two years it's become so much worse. I've done long distance flights before, so I know I should be able to travel, but something in my brain has come to a blockade that I can't even manage 40 minute train rides to my mom's place, nor bus rides that don't have a stop every 1-3 minutes (city commute). I'm quite claustrophobic and the thought of possibly having a panic attack and then "inconvenienceing" others sends my mind spiralling. I know it shouldn't matter, but my brain can't accept it.
hiii look up chronic exertional compartment syndrome and see if your shin splint pain reminds you of that. took me years and years for my doctors to figure out what was happening to me
I have all my "this would be cool to visit" places on my google maps. I'm well over thousand spots now. People get weirded out by all the marks if i need to show something on maps 😂😅
Amidst a snowstorm of love is cute. I like the chemistry of the lead characters. But the plot and character development leaves much to be desired. There’s 30 episodes 45 minutes each. it kind of drags a little bit. I only got about 2/3 of the way through. Got busy and forgot about it. it’s OK if you’re really just in it for the winter vibes then watch it. I remember that you said that you started business proposal but you didn’t end up liking it same I lost interest after about episode six. Thought it was a little over hyped. I think you might really enjoy the Kdrama twenty five twenty one which is based on the premise of a song by the same name by the band, Jarium. This drama is easily in my top 10. maybe top five.
in this one kdrama about a girl who has enough of her horrible boyfriend and adult life in the city and then moves into a small town where she falls in love with a librarian, she also gets water on one of the library books, so he freezes it to save it :D which comes too late for you now, but maybe there'll be a repeat of this situation haha🐈
I look at you and you make me think we all have uniques feelings... and it's a pleasure discover yours... see you and think in my safe places and saved emotions crossing times... and recording new instants.. kisses♥
EMMA ANOTHER VIDEO???? It's emma's world and we're just living in it ✨🫶🏻

nothing like a new emma vlog after a very long study sessions !!!
Yay perfect timing! I adore watching your videos on a cosy Sunday afternoon. 💞
Amidst a snowstorm of love was intensely romantic and filled with beautiful snowy sceneries. I love it!
Is not that I didn't enjoyed your videos pre-moving, but there is definitely something different with the lasts ones, you seem more content and relaxed and you can "feel" it through the screen ♥️
Emma has blessed us again this week! I'm working on some big final projects for my graduate degree and I needed all the cozy Emma vibes this week! ❤
You may already know this but something that helped me when I would always get shin splints is to do toe rises and toe walk for a few minutes before my run. That was the only stretch for me that helped to prevent them.

Try freeze drying the book! Use a plastic bag, keep the book in the freezer for a few weeks. Be aware of condensation when thawing.

I do apologize if the language if translated version isn't poetic enough, the original uses very simple language.(hindi)
I'll try to translate the a few lines from the poem

Not another video dropping AS I was rewatching your first moving vlog to soothe the anxies ❤️

I just finished the second Thursday Murder Club book, on audio - and yeah the narrator was awesome - and it was Elizabeth's PoV - it was so good!!

It's always the orange agent of chaos...I have one too. LOL
very cozy vlog 🤍 Hope you have fun in Arizona!
We are spoiled with so much content!
Good morning, Emma! Finishing up Icefields today. Hope your weekend is going well!
Not to be dramatic but I would die for that eufy. Why is a vacuum SO CUTE
Hello Emma, thanks for a needed cosy long video 🙏💙
EMMA you are the gift that keeps on giving , so happy because of the constant uploads !!!!!

I’ve put my book in the oven on low heat when it was left out in the rain before

Fritos finally got smart; in my area I get the low salt ones!!
@@gossamerabba Didn't know they made a low salt version. 👍
@sanddab Took them decades to get there, I've only started seeing within the past 5-6 months maybe.
Have a nice trip! (You know I always fold but watching you I'm thinking I may try rolling, so thx)!
A wonderful weekend surprise
Put your wet book under a stack of heavy books. I did it and the pages didn't get wavy at all.
STOP you’re coming to my state!!!! What 😭😭😭💛 I hope you have the best time, I wish I could meet you!!!
With my librarian hat on - that book is dead. Throw it out and buy another copy. It cannot be rescued.
Hey Emma I was just wondering what music you listen to when your reading?
We are eating good lately, yet another video!
Love your vids ❤
What are the headphones you are using in the clip where you talk about The Thursday Murder Club?

Great vlog.🍄🍷📚☕🍁🍂🎃

You'll be 2 states away from me. Maybe we'll run into each other 😂

may i suggest "death at intervals" by José Saramago? lots of love from Portugal❤
Btw, Bryan Johnson is the immortal vampire wannabe you were referring to
