There will NEVER be any other than Lynyrd Skynyrd! I was at the last concert in Greenville SC the night before the airplane crash. My children and grandchildren listen to their music it will never get old! Seeing them that night will always be one of the best nights in my life!
I was at Kent State in 77 and might have been one of last to see them in concert; and now here I am at age 77 listening to you two and remembering it all again!! Thank you both 😢❤ for what you are doing...
It's true. The boys attended Lee High School in Jacksonville and a gym teacher named Leonard Skinner used to harass them about their long hair. In typical youthful rebellious fashion, they chose the name for their band in his "honor". I've read that they eventually reached an understanding. After all, they sort of made Mr. Skinner famous. ; ) It's so nice to see folks with no dog in the musical genre fight, so to speak, appreciate music that I grew up with and love.
Being a 70s child and into my adulthoood in the 80s all the way until now i do not think there was a better decade for music than the 70s. Skynyrd is my favorite band and will live forever especially with the exposure younger generations can now get from the internet. Thanks for the reaction. 😊😊😊
"THAT SMELL" it's prophetic. It was about Gary Rossington initially but became something else after the crash. Song released 3 days before crash. Recorded version is best. From the Album "Street Survivors".
I hope you get back to Skynyrd soon! Simple Man,Call Me The Breeze,That Smell,Gimme Three Steps,Poison Whisky,Was I Right or Wrong,On The Hunt,Searching,Saturday Night Special,Ballad of Curtis Loew are just a few of their many great songs!

We could all put ourselves in the songs/music journies of the Southern Rock Bands of back then. Their talent was vast, raw & pure. We believed they lived their music journies and that echoed back to us to influence our life's journies. Those were great times , sorely missed.
Thanks for getting back to Skynyrd. They are easily my favorite band of all time. Please check out their song, You got that right. The live performance on 7-13-77 at the Convention hall is the best performance of it. I hope everyone is having an amazing week & much love to everyone from here in the UK
Though we all will pass away at some point in time, great music is timeless and will live forever for generations to come as long as someone is able to hear it! Great reaction! Thank you!
Lynyrd Skynyrd's backup singers were called The Honkettes. Not sure why but they weren't at the performance of Free Bird you watched at Oakland Coliseum. The Honkettes were at their performance at Knebworth in 1976. One of the singers, Cassie Gaines got her brother hired as LS' newest guitar player and unfortunately, she and her brother Steve both died in the plane crash on Oct. 20, 1977, along with lead vocalist Ronnie Van Zant and a band manager, along with 2 pilots.
The Sweet Home Alabama performance from the same show has them in it, I guess they were not needed for Free Bird, you can even hear JoJo Billingsley say thank you to the crowd at the end of SHA.
Simply put, they were the best. He could be leaving to go out on the road, touring with the band, but I’m not 100% sure. Great reaction. Yes. To me, 70s music is the best, to me, and I’m an 80s child. Their gym teacher sent them to the principals office because of their long hair, and they would get expelled from school. The teacher’s name was Leonard Skinner.
Absolutely love, love your guys reaction, it's so heartfelt and you both have old souls . Im so glad that you are enjoying some of the best rock music ever made. Your both are amazing to watch...keep it up.
Here's one of their most popular songs done at Knebworth 1976. They played for an entire hour there. This was based on a true story and is called "Gimme 3 Steps". ua-cam.com/video/CJZrXhMBG1E/v-deo.html The Rolling Stones were scheduled to go onstage after them. Mick had a special catwalk added to the stage, in the shape of a tongue to promote their latest album, Hot Licks. Mick told all the other performers nobody could use that catwalk except the Stones. Well, for the solo of Free Bird, Ronnie got his guitar army out on that catwalk. Mick was not happy, not by far!! Lynyrd Skynyrd had the crowd in such a frenzy, the Stones refused to come out for hours, until they had calmed down!
The Pronounced Leh-nerd Skin-nerd album is outstanding. I know you prefer to listen to live performances, but I really feel you should do both Live and Studio performances. The studio performances often give you the real result that the band is trying to present.
Try "The Ballad of Curtis Lowe" studio version. Definitely my favorite Skynnard song, even though they had many great songs. Ronnie's voice is perfect and the whole band is wonderful. Great reaction as always.
if you want to see LS live full concerts with the different members see Winterland 75 with Ed King. Winterland 76 with just Allen and Gary, and then Convention Center 77 with Steve.
Another fantastic song that is in a similar sound worth checking out is Can't You See by the Marshall Tucker Band. Classic "southern rock" as well called it then lol.
This has been my second favorite song from them, behind Call Me The Breeze, and I've always thought of it that it starts off sounding like he left his woman, but in the last verse the truth comes out and he sings that she left him and he's trying to deal with that.
Wow, I remember this one, used to be on my 'back then', play list! LS and The Allman Brothers Band, a must with Duane Allman on guitar. Piano to Hammond Organ.
Hello again, I'm from Portugal and this is the 6th time I'm going to ask for your reaction to Noidz-strange way of life, I guarantee you've never heard anything like it. 😁
Grew up in Green Cove Springs , Fl. And was 13 when the plane went down and really didn’t realize the impact they had on the world. Just thought they were a good local Jax band! They don’t have a bad song. Recommend “ Ballad of Curtis Lowe” ! Thx!
As always Y'all... nicely played! It is true about the gym teacher. You mentioned the plane crash. Here's another fun😳fact... Artimus Pyle, the drummer survived, crawled out of the swamp to a farm house and got shot by the farmer before he holler "plane crash." Thankfully he was just hit in the shoulder and the rest is history! Spread the love 🐶😎🇺🇸
The gym teacher hated long hair and kept getting them kicked out of school The 70s was a special Era Saw them 3days before the plane crash in Miami fla and it was great Love you guys
Their PE teacher was a hard line military haircut kind of man who always wanted those kids to cut their hair. His name was Leonard Skinner and so the band jokingly named their band to mock him not knowing how famous they would become. True story.
Lynyrd Skynyrd like David Gilmour never had a bad song I always wonder what other master pieces they would have done if not killed in that plane crash.
The sound is "Southern Rock". Lynard Skinner, The Allman Brothers, Bad Company, Jimmy Buffett, the list goes on and on and even includes Chris Stapleton who may be the best singer/songwriter in the history of music. Please listen to "Story Monday" by the Allman Brothers and then listen to the way Chris Stapleton does it. Gimme Three Steps by Lynard Skynard and "Ain't going out that Door" by the Allman Brothers.
I heard a story that they used to go to an old country store and it was ca Lled lynerd skynyrd on the side of the store....call me the breeze.,nxt......
The story about their band name is true, named after a gym teacher. Sweet home Alabama is just as popular as Freebird. Freebird would be 1A and Sweet Home Alabama 1B in popularity. Give Me 3 Steps, Simple Man, Call Me the Breeze, and That Smell, are a few more you should check out. Their genre of music at the time was known as Southern Rock. The Allman Brothers Band, first, Charlie Daniels Band, second, The Marshall Tucker Band, and 38 Special are other popular Southern Rock bands you should delve into. The lead singer of 38 Special, Donnie, is the Brother of both Lynyrd Skynyrd lead singers, Ronnie and Johnny Van Zant. Ronnie is in the video you just watched. Johnny took over after Ronnie's death in the plane crash. P.S. people will argue that the Charlie Daniels band was a Country band. When he first came on the scene he wasn't, he was Southern Rock. Somewhere along the way Country music somehow laid claim to the band and Charlie allowed it to happen. But make no mistake The CDB was, is, and forever will be a Southern Rock Band.
THE MOST UNDER-RATED TUNE SKYNYRD EVER DID. A fabulous blues/love song undescrible solos. THE Honk-etts were the icing on this cake. Billy's beautiful piano & organ solos, often imitated - NEVER DUPLICATED!!
You know,I've watched quite a few of your reactions.....and then I noticed that I wasnt subscribed! Why? What? Anyway, that has been remedied. ❤❤You really should do my favorite LS song "Call me the breeze"!!
Please react to "Simple Man", it seems to really draw out the emotional side of the ladies. You will like it Miss Dominica but it will pull at your heart. Don't be afraid to show your true emotions. Many a wife, a mother, a lady has shed tears hearing this song.
"CALL ME THE BREEZE" IS AWESOME! Funky Souther rock
There will NEVER be any other than Lynyrd Skynyrd! I was at the last concert in Greenville SC the night before the airplane crash. My children and grandchildren listen to their music it will never get old! Seeing them that night will always be one of the best nights in my life!
I really love how you both appreciate good music. You two have beautiful souls
I was at Kent State in 77 and might have been one of last to see them in concert; and now here I am at age 77 listening to you two and remembering it all again!! Thank you both 😢❤ for what you are doing...
So awesome when Billy Powell switches from the piano to that beautiful organ!
"Call me the Breeze" Live is another really great listen
Great Reaction!
Not todays fancy equipment. No auto tune. I love it.
It's true. The boys attended Lee High School in Jacksonville and a gym teacher named Leonard Skinner used to harass them about their long hair. It's so nice to see folks with no dog in the musical genre fight, so to speak, appreciate music that I grew up with and love.
Southern Rock is eternal , and I agree with her, Artemus Pyle's drums are just so perfect
Being a 70s child and into my adulthoood in the 80s all the way until now i do not think there was a better decade for music than the 70s. Skynyrd is my favorite band and will live forever especially with the exposure younger generations can now get from the internet. Thanks for the reaction. 😊😊😊
You are so on point. I'm glad to have lived it.
@@freebirdtony Me too. Thanks.
@@notablindliberal896 you're welcome.
"THAT SMELL" it's prophetic. It was about Gary Rossington initially but became something else after the crash. Song released 3 days before crash. Recorded version is best. From the Album "Street Survivors".
This is what makes skynyrd one of the best bands of all time. They have songs that connect with everybody.
They were the best!
My favorite southern rock band...
Lynyrd Skynyrd is my favorite band and has been so for over 50 years. Saw them in 1975 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
It's amazing he never wrote down a lyric, when asked he replied, "if it's not worth rememberin', it's not worth singin'." 😁👍✌️

If you love this sound try the Allman Brothers, Whipping Post or Soulshine. It’s bluesy southern rock.
And a year later after this video it was all over . RIP Ronnie, Steve, Cassie, Dean and the pilots.
This genre is called Southern Rock.
They knew what folks wanted to hear in that sweet guitar driven Southern Rock. Now Gary is gone. Sad . He killed that solo.
I remember your reactions to Freebird, but also Simple Man seemed to touch you very much....Lynyrd Skynyrd is the pulse, the folk, the soul of blues
Thanks for getting back to Skynyrd. They are easily my favorite band of all time. Please check out their song, You got that right. The live performance on 7-13-77 at the Convention hall is the best performance of it.
I hope everyone is having an amazing week & much love to everyone from here in the UK
The greatest American band in history
If you guys like skynyrd yall will love the Marshall tucker band, fire in the sky and cant you see are 2 great songs for them
Also "Heard It In A Love Song"
We had great music back then!
Though we all will pass away at some point in time, great music is timeless and will live forever for generations to come as long as someone is able to hear it! Great reaction! Thank you!
I've never heard from the band what this song is about but I've read a few times it is about the ending of Ronnie's first marriage
Southern Rock !

LS was a true R&R group.
Call Me The Breeze is my favorite song of theirs.
It is bitter sweet watching I remember so well hearing about their airplane crash RIP !

Another of my favorites, great guitars, "Gimme 3 Steps", live"One more from the road" 😃
Skynyrd Live is always Fantastic
Simple Man is good. You should check them out. That Smell, Needle & the Spoon there's a lot of good Skynard
Greatness.
The closest I came to seeing the original band was the 87 reunion show! AMAZING 😊
This was my favorite when it first came out!! 😃
YOU MUST LISTEN TO (SWEET HOME ALABAMA) "LYNYRD SKYNYRD"
I love this song…., beautiful to hear it again and see both your reactions, ❤
Yes they named their band, after Leonard Skinner a teacher who was always after them to cut their long hair.

Their two next best songs are 'Ballad of Curtis Leow', and "Was I right or Wrong"

Wonderful review. I hate that you have to cut it off in the middle of the song, but it is an excellent review none the less.
If you like this you will love 'Simple Man'

The band endured the wrath of lead singer ronnie van zant to play that music
It's true they named of their gym teacher was Lenard Skinner
I DONT KNOW WHO THE GUY IS BUT THEY NAMED THE BAND AFTER SOMEONE NAMED (LEONARD SKINNER)
THE MOST UNDER-RATED TUNE SKYNYRD EVER DID. A fabulous blues/love song undescrible solos. THE Honk-etts were the icing on this cake. Billy's beautiful piano & organ solos, often imitated - NEVER DUPLICATED!!
