I've found it a challenge trying different chocolate brands. There are quite a few available at an Italian market near me that aren't on that website, so I have no idea if they can be trusted.
I typically just cave and get some anyways. As you said, the benefits likely outweigh the cons. That said, i would like to hone in on which are more optimal.
I usually have 1-2 squares per day. I do occasionally overindulge, but not too often.

Robin! This is going to sound crazy but I'm pretty sure I walked past you in CDMX more than a month ago. I did a double take and was too shy to say hi, but I just want to say I immediately bought a red light therapy mask after watching your video. I love it so much I could literally cry. Thank you for your awesome videos - so so appreciate all the research and experimentation behind each one. I was actually eating a chocolate bar while watching this video only to realize IN HORROR that the Alter Eco blackout bar I so happily bought from Whole Foods yesterday was one of the bars tested for high levels of heavy metal. That said, the other brand I'm obsessed with Zazubean has all their chocolate third-party tested for heavy metals, plus they are sweetened with coconut sugar which is way better for your teeth. Highly recommend!! Anyways lol I deeply relate to your joy and obsession with chocolate. I am also an addict!

I love dark chocolate, around the time of my menstrual cycle my husband always buys me 86% cacao dark chocolate, but unfortunately the brand that he buys was on the list for containing unsafe levels of heavy metals so I sent him a screenshot of another easy to find brand that is also 86% that way I still get my dark chocolate but also can make this little change. I love dark chocolate for the magnesium that my body craves and also for a sweet treat just to enjoy. I do love ceremonial grade cacao drinks but I definitely feel the caffeine so it’s better for me to have early in the morning, causes jitteriness in my husband that does not drink coffee, so he is not a fan.

I've actually never liked chocolate, even as a kid, except very occasionally. I think me not particularly loving it, combined with its total ubiquity and everybody's total obsession with it made me really hate it.
That said, my friend used to eat a little bit of high percentage dark for breakfast (with nothing else), and sometimes insisted I get in on the action. It did kind of make for a great start to the day for some reason. I think that combination of feeling like you were doing something really decadent, and yet also kind of healthy. I think I might go see if I can pick up a little and have it for breakfast tomorrow.

If we cant avoid it. Perhaps we should have been coming to the idea of extracting those metals our of our body.
But i wonder if all of those contaminated raw chocolates came from my country :O
Funny enough, we dont consume it as much as we can produce it (but we consume tons of sugars tho. Cuz, we love spicy foods).

I remember my favourite restaurant had a 'death by chocolate' dish, which all the best restaurants should have, of course, but the only chocolate fatality that affected me directly was my grandmother accidentally killing my favourite Labrador dog by giving her some chocolate.
There was then only her small dachshund for me to walk. At night, without her Labrador friend walking by her side, an owl swooped down and try to make off with her. The dachshund, who survived that near take off, rarely missed the opportunity to snack of the poops of sheep and rabbits, or what my grandmother called 'dog chocolates'. Think Cadbury's but worse, still.

    I am a Chocoholic

Coincidence that I'd bought three bars to try, today, then saw your video with those slow motion dripping chocolate scenes, you absolute torturer, you! What the actual!
My first memory of chocolate... My mum's then best friend tried to win us kids over with Cadbury's. She then ran off with my dad but there was some chocolate left behind and his pleasantly fragrant pipe tobacco tins (Three Nuns brand... appropriate... said former friend was a lay preacher, who laid my dad).
Solace, I found I could melt the Cadbury's squares in the tobacco tin, when placed on a radiator. That taught me aromatherapy. Cadbury's is a ghetto gateway drug but it had a low melting point and I could use a tiny spoon to make it last forever. Easter egg hunts lead to an addiction to Cadbury cream eggs, that could be slowly hollowed out, the chocolate shell then melted in the tobacco tin. In Scotland, though sometimes they were hard to find, we even had a butterscotch/chocolate filled cream eggs and Tartan pattern foil!
Years later, I lived above a particularly famous chocolate shop and, unfortunately for me, one of the nice senior ladies who worked there would see me walk past. She would beckon me in. There was no escaping her! She was so kind and would give me free samples of chocolates from around the world. I don't know what killed her but I'd take a guess. I considered wallpapering an entire wall with exotic chocolate wrappers. Instead, I balled them up and kicked that ball into a wheelie bin!
Then I went vegan, managed to go 18 months without eating any chocolate. Latterly, I didn't miss it. Can you imagine?!
I later found that there are so many very high quality vegan (by accident and otherwise) chocolates and I felt that given a choice between antidepressants or exercise and some chocolate, along with potatoes and cumin (the happiness spice), I would bravely commit to the latter.
Then, by accident, I discovered chocolate and chillies! I did at one point think chocolate was giving me palpitations but it turned out to be onions; a monastery cookbook recommended changing out regular onions for red onions and that worked - no more palpitations!
Then, at a time when it was right that I make my own chocolates, I discovered Costco! Discovering Costco in Scotland is a big deal - my first few visits to the US, I had no interest in going to Disneyland, I pleaded with my hosts to instead take me to supermarkets and Whole Foods/Trader Joe's, much to the bemusement of my hosts who I cooked for - but anyway, Costco had huge containers of organic dates, organic bananas, peanut butter, huge sacks of organic almonds and walnuts and organic cacao powder, so I made high protein gym workout chocolate cookies.
I remember walking home from the gym and there were all these wheelie bins and I thought I could set myself a 200m run challenge where, every ten meters, you stop to caber toss a wheelie bin over the hedge into the bin owner's garden! Way too much energy from those cacao cookies!
I was dimly aware of the heavy metals thing but not where to look, so thank you so much for the links. I'm hoping it will give me pause, so I consume less chocolate (like THAT will ever happen!). I had hoped the 'organic' thing would protect me but of course not. I'm scared to look!
A chocolate holiday?! Isn't that insanely dangerous? Did you have to wear any kind of safety gear? Was it heavenly? Kind of your partner to film while you did the fun making and eating of!

Thank you for sharing a very thoughtful and personal comment! Costco has a special place in my heart. I split my time between the EU and the US so it always feels like an American homecoming / adult Disneyland when I go back there. They have great groceries!
I’m glad to hear your palpitations weren’t cause by chocolate! Wishing you many more delicious vegan dark chocolate moments 😋 🍫

@@TheScienceofSelfCare Exactly, Costco is adult Disneyland, you get it! I really hope your partner and friends get that because I'm made aware that I get more silly-excited than do friends and family, find a sack of organic frozen veg larger than a baby panda and end up dancing around the store with it, like I won the lottery. If only they had sacks of frozen organic blueberries. The non frozen organic ones and huge tubs of pomegranate seeds, I'm lucky if they're not mouldy by the time I've walked home!
I'm going to walk 7.5 miles home with that sack of frozen organics and want to feed some of it to a friendly horse, but it's a perfect 'walk with nature' while carrying a panda-sized sack of organic veg type walk, as long as I wrap it in a thousand layers of ridiculously good quality cotton T-shirts from Costco. Plus, it's right next to an Ikea skating maze, where you can try all of the beds and could hide in an Ikea wardrobe for the night! My excuse for not trying that Ikea challenge is my organic veg would defrost. Plus, if caught, I'd be the one they'd try and make an example of!
I never find good chocolate, at Costco, just these ridiculous, huge sacks of 'keto' junk. The organic Cacao powder is pretty good considering it's from a large store. Nature's Heart brand? Excuse my getting carried away but heaven can be found in the strangest of places.
