I’d like to throw my own theory out here and say that the reason hazers may be found on land rather than in water is because they mainly swim around when everything is flooded by the rain, and end up beached on land when it all dries up.
Then you could probably find some hazers in water. For example, There is a hazer in shore line that is high up in an area inside a tube , above water. If they do get beached that one probably had enough time to swim to the sides, not to mention the currents would probably take them down. The thing is ALL hazers are found outside water. However, it could also be that being on land offers a lot of food but comes to great risk of predators and desication, so being near water allows for a quick escape if they so need it while taking advantage of the resources on the surface.
Could be that they intentionally move on land when the water level is low too, though I'm not as sure why they'd do that. Their self-sacrificing defense mechanism makes me think of colonial animals, but I don't see much other evidence for that.
You forgot to tell about the eggs that noodle flies put in the ceilings. If you actually get one of these eggs, put them on a shelter and wait 1 or 2 cycles, it will, hatch, containing 2 or more baby noodle flies who will follow thinking you're their mother. I do not know a way of noodle flies making these eggs, but i do know that if you have an egg in your hands and a noodle fly sees that, it will be angered and try to kill you the same way.
Red lizard fun fact: they will typically battle and *die to* green lizards. This is because while reds can deal a lot more damage, luzards usually battle with territorial bites, dealing far less or no damage. Greens play dirty, and are far less reluctant than any other breed to get lethal
@@chaosinc.382 That is a pretty excellent comparision especially comparing their charge, They really are similar to a crocodile, Especially with their thick hide making them immune to any piercing that's shorter than a spear's hence the immunity to other lizard's bites aside from their own kind.

I honestly think the laviathans were one of the first "solutions" the iterators came up with to solve the ancient's problem of ascending without the use of void fluid. Obviosly, it didn't work, as the slugcat is still reincarnated after being consumed by it. The devs have straight up confirmed that their similarities to the Void Worm are not coinsidences, so I think that maybe the iterators/ancients were trying to recreate the Void Worm outside of the void sea to help them ascend. My only question is how the ancients/iterators knew about the Void Worm if swimming in the void sea meant the cycle of reincarnation stopped for said swimmer. Perhaps some iterator took a dive and, since they can't ascend, were able to look at the worm without breaking the cycle of reincarnation.
I once heard someone say that the leviathans were actually plants which grew around the funky mechanical statue-esque things that look like them in the backgrounds of shoreline, gaining control of them and growing on them using them as scaffolding till they became what we see in game. Your theory is probably better tho
Iirc leviathans are confirmed to mostly be mobile trash compactors used to clean the waters around iterators. mostly due to the one in SB that seems to be there for show, as a metaphor for a void worm along with its 2 void spawn jetfish friends!
My personal head cannon for scavengers is that they were designed as a form of entertainment by the ancients Basically back in the day they would pay to go to the zoo and look at funny monkey

36:44 Personally I don't see it as resurrection, more that the spiders have a closed or semi-closed circulatory system and rely on their body being pressurised by a heart to be able to continue moving as the contraction of their leg muscles squeezes the hemolymph out of their limbs, if their body cavity is punctured the hemolymph leaks out and pressurisation is lost leading to the limbs losing perfusion and the spider entering a torpor-like state which might help them divert energy to heal the wound whilst relying on the altruism of other spiders to defend it, a living spider may find a bleeding spider in torpor and puncture it in a specifically adapted location with the previously mentioned sacrificial organ that's basically a fleshy toothpaste tube with a thin proboscis like a needle on the end- a bit like a morphine syrette from an old military first aid kit, this organ might contain a rich solution of short term energy currency substances and other important molecules and utilising a muscular diaphragm that almost behaves like a secondary heart to inject the solution, this provides a temporary rise in hemolymph pressure either to help the injured spider recover or to allow it to escape danger before again bleeding to the point of being unable to move. The same organ is adapted in the red spiders into an offensive weapon instead utilising fast-acting skeletal and smooth muscle relaxants (think suxamethonium/succinyl choline) which are propelled either with a biological spring or a chemical gas generator using hard, reinforced depressions in the exoskeleton as the barrel of a short gun- essentially biological mortars. 45:00 The first thing that comes to mind when I think of the vultures and their gas is them being purposed organisms used to disperse cloud seeding surfactants to help recycle water back into the iterators. Also ok you have my sub funny man
@@Daszombes The thing I love about Rain World's fauna is that it's *believable*, the shaping touch evolution can do crazy things with the tools it's given (the anatomy of a creature) which has produced the incredibly rich array of organisms we get to enjoy in our world (if you want another example than the finches Darwin studied then just look at the biological Tesla valve in the respiratory system of birds that helps fuel the oxygen requirements of flight by controlling air flow, or the array of different weapons the basic structure of the pistol shrimp's spring-loaded claw has given rise to- an arsenal of harpoons and hammers with some species developing social behaviour with kin selection, using the snapping of their claws to communicate and differentiate family members), but the existence of purposed (engineered) organisms in the setting allows for believable intelligent design which could yield any kind of structure that couldn't arise naturally. There's just the right balance of gaps between the information given to let the player fill in those voids themselves, when arriving at the more out-there of the creatures and their weird anatomy the speculation of whatever niche they served in the unknown business of the enigmatic peoples that may have created them easily fills in between what scant notes are gleaned from the forgotten storage media left behind by those same peoples. As for the survivor creatures I'm a little hesitant to shatter my own suspense of disbelief by acknowledging that their presence, or lack thereof, is entirely just a game mechanic, since we don't know much about the temperature, atmospheric pressure or other features and phenomena of the atmosphere and weather of the world (beyond that there's a water/liquid cycle that's heavily influenced by geoengineering, what temperature water will stay largely as a liquid is affected by atmospheric pressure) it's possible that as ectotherms they're just not that active in the colder months, needing large amounts of time basking in the sun or around warm areas to reach a core body temperature that allows them to operate effectively. If it's too cold and the cycles aren't long enough to let them warm up they might just hibernate instead. The changes in pressure with the temperature/moisture must be keenly felt by any creatures with ears or soft bodies which likely provides some measure of advance warning before the rain begins proper, I have no doubt that if in our own world the rain crushed most living things there would be enormous evolutionary pressure on adapting to shelter from it, everything that didn't adapt would be dead and have no children after all ha ha.

The grapple worms COULD be similar to pyrosomes OR, more likely, sea cucumbers. As both creatures are similarly tube-shaped and I believe sea cucumbers can even eject their guts out in a sticky, web-like blast to catch food. Edit: Scare away predators, not catch food- Terribly sorry for my mistake!
i was just about to comment this! the process sea cucumbers use is called evisceration, where they eject their respiratory organs out of their anus. the respiratory organ is sticky and clings to any would be attackers, detaching from the sea cucumber who regenerates the organ over the next few weeks. were the grapple worms a descendant of sea cucumbers or something similar, all it would take is for them to evolve a method to bring the ejected organs back into their body.
I think jellyfish are actually descendants or offshoots from neuron flies. Furthermore, yellow lizards may very well be using radio signals or similar, considering the unique origin of Rain World's fauna. I think also leapzards (cyan) can appear through lineage on survivors, and white (not blue) lizards definitely have the longest tongues.
I would also like to add that I was on a similar endeavour a while back, where I made a tree of life of all (most) creatures in the game. Admittedly, it was built mostly on assumptions and "what if?"s, but would you be interested in seeing my speculations? ("I would like to talk to a lot more about this, would you be interested in reading some of my literature?")
A odd thing I would like to point out against them being radio antenna is if you want two things to communicate with each other their antennas should be the same length
This video has unfortunately made my brain make the conscious decision to draw, or at least describe, full anatomy of each creature in the game. Also my take on the Vulture Grubs: They are in fact young vultures. The normal vultures taking them to safer areas upon getting called in. But the King Vultures kill the grubs like a male lion does to lion cubs. The King Vultures kill the vulture grubs because they don’t want the grub to grow to be stronger than it.
My take is that the yellow bit is just a yolk sack and not anything important to keep intact once a grub is retrieved. The tiny lazer pointer is the actual vulture
Idea: maybe the white lizard's chromataphores are consciously controlled? If so, maybe when they flinch or feel pain, they might accidentally change their chromataphores' colours rapidly.
There’s a few facts missing from here, but lemme give my two sense as somebody who has been a fan of this series for many years and been active in the discord for just as long. The leeches are actually depicted in promotional art with eyes, so your idea they are more like hagfish is more credible. They probably aren’t actually leeches, and more like a species of fish. As for the grapple grubs, I’m pretty sure they’re actually just sea cucumber-like beings that scrape scum off the walls with their tongues and slurp it up. They do seem to be able to move their body over their tongues as if scraping it of resources. Finally, noodleflies are clearly not blood suckers. If they were, they’d probably starve from not eating enough due to their neutral nature. It’s more likely they eat seedcob, as they are only found in areas where the plant is plentiful and seem perfectly designed to open them. Not only is the food perfect for their humming-bird lifestyle, it also explains why the adults attack each other. It’s competition for the food source. Hummingbirds are very territorial in nature and viciously fight over the patches of flowers they regularly feed from. It’s also of note that the areas they are around always seem to have seedcobs that have already been opened and eaten, as if something got to them first… It’s implied through text mentioning five pebbles messed with lizard neural tissue that orange lizards are the result of five pebbles. Their location in areas connected to and near Five Pebbles and strange telepathic abilities seem to support this, implying they originated from the five pebbles region itself. Centipedes don’t seem to actually eat the prey they shock, implying it’s not for food purposes. We also know it’s implied they are herbivores due to their nutritional value and the fact a decal described as “centipede lure” consistently appears around a specific plant and attracts them. The main theory I have is that their shells are actually a sort of solar panel, which gets more productive the more they grow, and that they were originally organic power generators. However, with no way to release the energy they produce, it builds up inside them, leaving them unable to release the static electricity inside them, and slowly fries them from inside. Due to this and the fact the machines they were once apart of have broken long ago, they have to use other organisms to relieve this build up. This also explains the inorganic qualities of their shell and why they avoid areas with sunlight. Obviously red centipedes have these panels on steroids, and thus are constantly frying themselves due to sunlight. Meanwhile, I think the centiwings actually use chlorophyl, which is much less productive and thus why they are more passive. Also some other facts. Vultures seem to be like gas balloons, as they expel gas when damaged or lowering themselves. This explains how they are able to fly with such horribly designed wings. It’s possible they were used by the ancients for delivery of items across cities or sky parades. The vulture grubs acting as a way to bring them to specific areas for delivering items or controlling them. As for deer, they seem to have a symbiotic relationship with noots since the only food I can imagine would sustain such a large body are seedcobs. They clearly can’t be sustained by gas apples since those are way too small and hollow and can be found only in areas a deer would never be able to access. They probably actually eat gas apples as a way to get rid of parasites that bite at them or within their tumorous folds, something commonly threatening large megafauna. Also they probably aren’t wooly and just severely tumorous due to the radiation and pollution in the environment. Also as for the cicada gender debate. The whites are clearly the males due to their flashy colors and competitive muscle. Enjoy the sub funny tardigrade man.
Good comment OP @@ole-martinthorsen6996 Now that's an argument I like more and that convinces, just having colors and muscle ain't enough but what you said supports It much better than alone
Question, if Farm Arrays is so polluted and irradiated then why are only the rabbit walkers affected? It would make more sense to me that instead of tumors it’s simply fat stores so they can go long distances/durations without food. This would also explain why they have grown so large and have such long limbs, if they are long distance specialists akin to whales or camels.
“taking a step back from the absurd,” he says, as he transitions to talking about a 2-meter long glowing green centipede with the power of flight this really is a rain world video
Lol “This centipede become BEEG when it gets to be old.” To That. And real life has more absurd things than in rain world btw. Bacteriophages are real things that look like something from sci-fi. They look robotic, with their bodies’ shape. Similar to the biomechanics stuff present in the game.
i wouldn't say that the red variants are necessarily extinct. you can get any advanced variant in the monk and survivor through the heritage system (I think thats what its called). perhaps the red variants simply left the area for more food and shelter. and come back when theres any open property.
46:38 Although Miros Birds aren't found in the same habitat, they are capable of killing Rain Deer in a bite or two and dragging them off to be consumed. Try it in sandbox. Either way, great video ! I found your theories quite interesting.
Miros Bird bites don’t do that much damage, they simply just stunlock whatever they have caught. Miros Birds can also stunlock Leviathans and will even chase them underwater
My theory for blue “fruit” counting for the monk achievement is that the monk is considered a vegetarian and not a Vegan who don’t eat any animal byproducts such as eggs and pupas are basically like that
I'd like to note that, Batflies will cluster around a specific plant that you can occasionally find. It's an orange fern, and it's attraction is so powerful that if you're standing still while holding it, you'll just have batflies doing their thing despite you being Present. Also, Grapple Grubs have been tested and- while it might not be Intended per-se, they're insanely strong. Capable of pinning nigh-anything to it's tongue's reach. I've been saved by this in the past, as a grub grabbed onto a lizard I'd been running from, and the beast was simply incapable of getting away. One last thing- Where are the Garbage Worms in this? Y'know, those long lanky noodle-bois commonly found around Garbage Wastes? They seem to hunt leeches (or other small waterborne small insects) by slamming their face into the water at top speed whenever nothing else is around to catch their attention, and they like to steal spears of all sorts, either as a means to make sure those weapons won't be used against them, or just cuz they like being jerks. Garbage Worms are immobile, their eyes turn red when aggravated, and they seem to kill things by grabbing onto them and literally drowning them, as the worms are only ever present in bodies of water.
On the topic of grapple bugs being strong, I have had one grapple a daddy long legs in place FOR A WHOLE CYCLE. AS IF IT DIDN'T ALREADY STAY IN THAT EXACT PLACE ENOUGH FUCKING MOVE
You forgot to tell that Moon actually says that most if not all creatures around the local area are descendants of purposed organisms, so practically all of these have been bio engineered by the ancients in the past, which adds alot of new speculations about how rain world's fauna works. It is also known that in Rain World, unlike Real Life, metal and flesh are more alike (atleast in the creatures that we see ingame), and are able to merge/evolve/grow whatever into eachother (the existence and technology of iterators confirms this, as they are neither fully metal or fully biological, but both, without any visible transition from flesh to metal). With this in mind, Orange lizards, considering they're found near highly technological areas and that they're probably are too descendants of purposed organisms, could use radio waves to communicate with eachother. So basically, Rain World is full of weird bullshit, so theres no way to be completely sure about anything about it.
this catalogue singlehandedly reignited my love for Rain World lore, I was laughing so hard by the time you got to the Miros Birds it reminded me of how much I loved the original game. i'm so excited to see what i missed since i was last active in the fandom, it looks like there's plenty of lore and worldbuilding to catch up on!
27:30 The yellow lizards could actually be using incredibly low or even incredibly high frequency sound waves to communicate is another possibility. Or even a combination of both if ya wanna throw logic out the window. i'm editing this bc i'd also like to mention two other things, 1: 6:48 This one's minor, But it's actually a very valid possibility that eggbugs are herbivores, As there are dozens upon dozens of different herbivorous species on earth that have a high metabolism. And 2: 21:06 Also pretty minor, But personally my idea here is that male noodleflies potentially just die immediately after mating, And/or courtship between female and male noodleflies is incredibly short. Mainly just because if it was like anglerfish, Then how come we never see the males attached to the females bodies? Anyway, I could point out a lot of other possible speculations about what's said in the video, But i'll just leave it here for this comment.
Actually using infrasound is something that real animals use to communicate- it's well documented in baleen whales and explains several unusual behaviours in elephants where groups will travel parallel to one another or begin heading towards one another despite being separated by multiple kilometers, so it's not impossible that the protrusions on the orange lizards' heads are some kind of acoustic organ using rapid twitches of a set of adapted jaw/head muscles to generate sound
@@CATASTEROID934 That was exactly my idea! And animals like frogs and (maybe) bats also use high frequency sounds to communicate across shorter distances, Which given that yellow lizards aren't like Red lizards who can see you from across several screens away, That could also, perhaps more likely be what they use. But still a very good point!
what if male and female noodleflies just have basically no visible differences and both take care of the young? sure, sexual dimorphism would be more common in these situations, but given that we see no evidence for any dimorphism it totally could be
What I find funny is that Leviathans do not do damage. They straight up delete the life of any entity that gets chomped. Also, they can only eat five creatures per cycle for balancing purposes.
Just started the video, but holy shit. I never noticed that batflies fly differently when they’re flying upwards versus when they’re just hovering. This game has crazy detail.
Hey man! IMPORTANT fact about Rainworld, there are 3 parts in the cycle of life in this game, Life, Death, and Resurrection. When you or someone else dies in the game they get resurrected in the next cycle, thus is why the Big Spiders you killed would be alive again in the next cycle. So this is basically one of those games where the player's death is a part of the game world's lore.
My best guess as to why the white lizards go rave mode when attacked would be that it's some kind of panic or pain reflex. The rapidly shifting colors are meant to disorient or even outright induce a seizure in whatever is attacking it. Presumably having already found and knowing where it is. In which case continuing to be sneaky-beaky wouldn't really improve the odds of survival. It's most likely just trying to prevent its aggressor from telling if it's facing them head-on or not. and I doubt scavengers have been making spears long enough for anyone to evolve any specific adaptations to spears.
If we're going with the Siphonophore theory, then the Jellyfish could be decended from the microbial prossesing strata found in Five Pebbles and other Iterators, this would explain their conductivity having previously functioed as neurons, and may explain how they got into the ocean via being washed away with the water used to clean the "slag" from the Iterators
Great video! Learning about both in-game creatures and real life animals. I always thought slugcats were closer to the size of a squirrel, puts things into perspective
They are about as big as my dog and now I want one they look cute and probably able to learn how to play games. Me and my slugcat gonna play Minecraft together
This is such a genius and well done video. I’d normally never watch something wildlife related for 50 minutes but this is Rain World and this video is really cool
The theory about levathians ive seen floating around is that they were made in homage of the void worm, the creature that gave the ancients salvation. Also thanks for reminding me about those horrifying horsehair worms with that string worm part 🥲
An idea I like for Grapple Worms is that they were purposed being, and we're either batteries or emergency wires. That would also be what they eat, electricity, which would explain how they still live across 5p, or in small areas that might be power plants, and don't have dens. They just sit out in the rain lightning and reproduce.
29:22 i like the red lizard 33:39 "red lizards and red centipedes are both the results of a dick measuring contest between iterators" lol 36:40 jesus juice lol
Very very good. I've been wanting a video like this for a couple years now. However there are two things you forgot to mention. The trash worms in the garbage wastes. And the fact that centipedes went not alerted to something will move in unison. Also the pole mimic is likely a worm not a plant similar to that of the Bobbitt worm
Blue fruit are not fruit! Names are names, in my opinion, the pole “plant” is much closer to an animal than a plant, it does not require sun to survive (pole plants can be found in area devoid of sunlight), and they move actively to catch prey when they detect something, unlike any known carnivores plants.
@@harmlessspider3693 Yea. Could also say the same for monster kelp too, Though arguably even more so for them since the two factors that make pole mimics more like fauna then flora apply even more so to monster kelp
the limbs of a rain deer are probably incredibly adapted limbs that would be on normal animals, since they had evolved for the specialized lifestyle needed for roaming across large amounts of worm grass, parts of the limbs are actually the fused fingers of the animal, the only thing similar to this being like a horse's hooves, and I assume the spore plants may get washed up to the surface after the rain ends so they would get their food
25:40 i think its either for defense as the changing colors could confuse an animal, or because the lizard is too confused to figure out what color it should be so it randomly changes it withouth control. Also, slug cat is clearly a mammal, as is it smart, social, has cat ears and a cat nose, and cat Arms and legs. Their slug charakteristics Are Most likely just helpful to Go in tubes
I wonder if vulture grubs are similar to certain parsitic worms that exist irl. THere are ones that get eaten on purpose and remain in the stomach of the bird, being a parasite for a while. Or something like that. I could imagine that Vulture Grubs try to develop for a while but part of their life cycle is to eventually be eaten, so they'll try to just skip to that part once they're threatened.
What if void worms are just the equivalent of ROVs for Void fluid drilling operations? It's customary that IRL offshore drilling operations use Robotic drones to inspect the state of drilling heads and pipes, so those could just simply be a biological equivalent for that. Additionally, it's in the lore that these pipes would deteriorate over time, so it would make sense to have one of these drones be able to seal the well so that a new one can be drilled, hence the leviathans in Subterranean, Shoreline, and Moon's structure (likely where they were produced)
personally, my theory to why the king vulture has lasers is because it incorporates the mechanical laser pointer of vulture larva into it’s harpoons (possibly for easier aiming)
I have a theory about slugcats and lantern mice. They are both the only creatures to show life in their eyes. When you get grabbed but don't die, you're very clearly making a face, and the same goes for lantern mice. When you die your eyes have X's, as do lantern mice. This could be for stylistic reasons because obviously they're cute, so why just give them a blank stare, but you could argue that some other creatures in the game are cute and they don't even make anything even close to those expressions. For that reason I believe they're more closely related than we think. I believe pebbles might refer to as a rodent a few times, and lantern *mice* is pretty much a dead giveaway that they are rodents to (though you can't be certain). I can't really explain the fear, other than that maybe slug cats used to be a deadly predator to them at some point, likely before the rain or before they were force evolved by the ancients, but another very important thing to look at is how you will glow if you eat a neuron fly. Why does that happen? Absolutely no clue, but like he said it could be a biological, likely from when lantern mice and slug cats were much more closely related
They’re probably rodents (or at least descended from those before the ancients modified them) slugcats are more like squirrels, both omnivores, agile, big tail and intelligent
My theory for white lizards to shift through all colors when damaged is: Do you know that feeling when you hit your funny bone? It's definetely just like that but it also affects the color changing cells
How would the upcoming Slugcat variants fit into this? With downpour coming out as official DLC at some point, That would mean that Slugcats are going to have a wide variety of different traits, ranging from Tongues that act like those little sticky hand toys, to spears capable of siphoning life out of what they hit. I'm curious to see how this wide variety in the Slugcat family came about.
29:09 I would just like to point out that Rain world has a system where if you kill a specific enemy type too many times a stronger version starts showing up for lizards the cyan lizard starts showing up Edit: also you can tame lizards all lizards including the red ones
The fact that Wolf Spiders may have once been communal brings me to my theory of the most horrifying and dangerous creature in the Rain World universe: Big Coalescipede. Not only are they much tougher and bigger than regular coalescipedes, they would be more poisonous and mobile as well, as well as having the ability to simply revive any overly-damaged member of the 'pede, making them only realistically possible to kill with some sort of area-affecting means like a large Jellyfish or maybe a Red Centipede, or through drowning (since IRL most insects and arachnids have "book lungs", making them pretty much incapable of holding their breath)
Honestly, you could argue even 5 pebbles facility has been retaken by nature. It IS overrun with the rot, after all. And it's implied pebbles himself wont last that much longer with it around.
Imma place some of my own theories, mostly about the more obvious mechanical creatures. So first you got the obviously mechanical creatures (miros birds and leviathans). Miros birds are tough, and it is possible that pebbles did create them, as they are the only thing keeping the rot from invading the rest of the world, and I personally do not have any other theory for these things. The leviathans however...I believe that they are simply a descendant from a purposed organism, and are not a direct creation from an iterator, they are simply less evolved than, say, lizards and lantern mice, which both have mechanical/unnatural parts when closely looked at (lantern mice emit a buzzing sound when recharging, and the unnaturally thick skull and color of the lizards). And I have a few things to say about the extinction of the hunter exclusive creatures. They didn't go extinct, at least not entirely, as you can still lineage all hunter exclusive creatures as survivor and monk. I believe that they migrated, due to either more competition or prey becoming more and more scarce, which is why the animal population is so low as monk
I think the reason white lizards glitch out when harmed could be because of them actually changing color manually, so when threatened they can’t remember which color they were so they frantically switch in a (poor) attempt to hide
this was the first ever video i saw on rain world i thought from the thumbnail that rain world was just gonna be something of little nightmares, than i saw it and it is one of best survival games in 2d for me. it was so cool to see this as it brought me into the world of rain world.
My guess as to what the deal is with Hazers being found beached is as a way of avoiding larger aquatic predators. They probably only become active during rain cycles where they can scavenge flooded areas freely.
25:31 perhaps as a last-ditch intimidation display? If I were a wild animal and the lizard I just bit turned into a strobe light, it’d freak me the hell out.
One thing you missed is that the jetfish and vultures have a *lot* of anatomical similarities; they move primarily by expulsion of fluid, have the same head structure with two weird little mouth parts, et cetera - implying that either vultures were engineered from jetfish, or that both are purposed organisms from the same base creature!
The scavengers are actually more complex than you say, here's the reasons, they have a reputation system with the slug cat, different levels of aggressiveness and friendliness for example some could straight up snipe you while in a neutral status while others could stare at you
I fully believe they're just ancients. They could either just be from a worker caste, or maybe even political dissidents that did not agree with the religious extremism of their authorities. even in their own time The house of braids and similar elites perpetuating the ascension agenda were deeply unpopular. there's a case to be made that they had to impose their dogma by force: One iterator log in the route to comm arrays literally details the descent of a host city into a fascist theocracy at the hands of a notable despot. There's the Undergrowth and Luna echoes that to varying degrees imply that they did not consent to their fates, and there are records of all logistics and bureaucratic operations being halted prior to the mass ascension. It's entirely possible that destroying civic records either as practice or punishment was among those orders, which would explain their obsession with pearls and citizen IDs.
This is like a combination of True Facts and TierZoo It's REALLY good! I'd watch a whole channel about dumb I mean smart I mean personal fact based game creature functions. I even learnt that I can ride those water tackling things. I was stuck for so long... even tried to tame one using the blue fruits I mean egg sacks
When it comes to the grapple worms, I do actually recall one of my biology lecturers showing us footage they recorded of a small worm that was able to spew fourth its insides as a means of pulling itself forward. unfortunately, however I do not have this on me. Though not the same, some species of marine ribbon worms do utilise a similar regurgitation of organs as a means of catching prey: ua-cam.com/video/MmGz8gotCPs/v-deo.html (most notably at 1:01)
Also what's interesting about the red centipedes is that they will actively run from and hide from Miros Birds, due to the fact that Miros Birds are 100% immune to the electrical shocks they produce.
Notably about the wolf spider (37:00) is that it doesn't attack slugcat alone, but rather hovers around waiting for backup, getting more and more confident as the number of wolf spiders increases.

So there semi aquatic

It’s also of note that the areas they are around always seem to have seedcobs that have already been opened and eaten, as if something got to them first…
It’s implied through text mentioning five pebbles messed with lizard neural tissue that orange lizards are the result of five pebbles.
I love these ideas, they make a lot more sense. On a sidenote: there's a rainworld discord???
To create a new cicada "colony" you need several black ones and only a single white one, so yeah.

This is really interesting, I would love to see a flora/uncategorized creatures video. Keep it up dude!

Garbage Worms are immobile, their eyes turn red when aggravated, and they seem to kill things by grabbing onto them and literally drowning them, as the worms are only ever present in bodies of water.

garbage worms eat spears obviously

I have another idea for the noodleflies, perhaps they are just parthenogenic?
what if male and female noodleflies just have basically no visible differences and both take care of the young? sure, sexual dimorphism would be more common in these situations, but given that we see no evidence for any dimorphism it totally could be
It could just be an extremely volatile pheromone
What I find funny is that Leviathans do not do damage. They straight up delete the life of any entity that gets chomped. Also, they can only eat five creatures per cycle for balancing purposes.

The rapidly shifting colors are meant to disorient or even outright induce a seizure in whatever is attacking it. Presumably having already found and knowing where it is.
In which case continuing to be sneaky-beaky wouldn't really improve the odds of survival.

A flora video would be amazing, and if your fortunate it can bring some new rain world fans to your channel, looking for answers
21:37 THATS A AMAZING DRAWING!
I have an idea for garbage worms, I didn't forget them, and pole mimics are literally called 'pole plants' by the wiki.
@@Daszombes and the hanging fruit is called a pupa by moon sooo.. I mean it's an alien world so anything goes I guess.
They can both move, they can both react to stimuli, they can both be knocked out by spitter spiders for Pete’s sake!
the limbs of a rain deer are probably incredibly adapted limbs that would be on normal animals, since they had evolved for the specialized lifestyle needed for roaming across large amounts of worm grass, parts of the limbs are actually the fused fingers of the animal, the only thing similar to this being like a horse's hooves, and I assume the spore plants may get washed up to the surface after the rain ends so they would get their food
26:20 red lizards can swim unreasonably fast
Miro’s birds are also able to use their long beaks to pick slugcats out of small crevices, something I learned with great shock my last play through
Hek-En-Slash: Heh. They'll never get me outta this Lil nook.
Miros Bird: lemme just... *yoink!*
Hek-En-Slash: asdfghkl
25:40 i think its either for defense as the changing colors could confuse an animal, or because the lizard is too confused to figure out what color it should be so it randomly changes it withouth control.
Also, slug cat is clearly a mammal, as is it smart, social, has cat ears and a cat nose, and cat Arms and legs. Their slug charakteristics Are Most likely just helpful to Go in tubes
yeah, thanks for speaking softly for the entire video but screaming during the spider part
Noodleflies have hanging red eggs that you can bring with you to shelters and hatch 2 babies to eat.
fuck, forgot about that lmao
@@Daszombes Lmao I thought it was a weird beehive like thing at first
@@escapeddementiapatient can you raise them?
@@ianschlembach6195 Kinda they will try to follow you, but will get adopted by the next noodle mom you see.
im addicted to rain world creatures and zoology so this video feels like it was made for me. amazing work!!!!!!!!
Thanks for blowing out my damn ears in the first ten seconds
This is really interesting! Great video for sure!
I've never played Rain World, but this video's real good. Love stuff like this.
Thanks for the content!
I’m a simple human. I see a positive rain world video. I click like. Love your thumbnail btw.
I do not know why I keep rewatching this.
The void worm is still a mystical creature waiting to be revealed by the developers. I still haven't known its role in the game.
I remember reading that leviathans are actually a type of kelp growing around machineries. It feels like theory Food to me
Ah. Satan kelp.
personally, my theory to why the king vulture has lasers is because it incorporates the mechanical laser pointer of vulture larva into it’s harpoons (possibly for easier aiming)
possibly one of the best videos out there!! super interesting to watch, awesome job dude
@@HYDROCARBON_XDsquirrels are rodents though
7:32 Squidcada is literally a mixture of the words squid and cicada, so the squidcada is definitely closer to a cicada than anything else.
My theory for white lizards to shift through all colors when damaged is:
Do you know that feeling when you hit your funny bone?
It's definetely just like that but it also affects the color changing cells
Very recently gotten into Rainworld. Thank you for the content brother and I’m glad to see such passion for this amazing game
I'd just like to say, I have encountered spitter spiders as the Survivor, so they're rare but not extinct!
The white spikes batflies hang around are hives. This is confirmed in both level editor and code analysis
I personally hope he comes out with another video with updated info. :3
29:09 I would just like to point out that Rain world has a system where if you kill a specific enemy type too many times a stronger version starts showing up for lizards the cyan lizard starts showing up
Edit: also you can tame lizards all lizards including the red ones
This game's slowy becoming popular, it's good to be alive
I like the theory leviathans are ancients trying to create the void worm
Damn this was so cool!! So full of neat fun facts not only about rain world but about our real world too!
Honestly, you could argue even 5 pebbles facility has been retaken by nature. It IS overrun with the rot, after all. And it's implied pebbles himself wont last that much longer with it around.
just gotta say i love your youtube banner, classic image
Very good
I think the reason white lizards glitch out when harmed could be because of them actually changing color manually, so when threatened they can’t remember which color they were so they frantically switch in a (poor) attempt to hide
I'm so glad I found your channel. Rain World is super underrated.
I love it when people give their worlds possibly functional ecosystems. I find it so interesting!
this was the first ever video i saw on rain world i thought from the thumbnail that rain world was just gonna be something of little nightmares, than i saw it and it is one of best survival games in 2d for me. it was so cool to see this as it brought me into the world of rain world.
My guess as to what the deal is with Hazers being found beached is as a way of avoiding larger aquatic predators. They probably only become active during rain cycles where they can scavenge flooded areas freely.
"Able to survive or at least.. not die"
Hmm yes, the floor is made of floor today.
9:57. Significantly heavier is an understatement. In arena mode even when you pull has far as you can they just won't let go.
This video needs more likes!
You need more subs.... quality job dude
One thing you missed on the Lizards is for some reason, Wormgrass completely ignores Green Lizards. They are the only subspecies this occurs with.
That is a lie. I witnessed a green lizard due from the grass
Not sure about it ignoring greens, are generally the safest around worm grass.
This is like a combination of True Facts and TierZoo
It's REALLY good!
I'd watch a whole channel about dumb I mean smart I mean personal fact based game creature functions.
I even learnt that I can ride those water tackling things. I was stuck for so long... even tried to tame one using the blue fruits I mean egg sacks
You don't HAVE to include every animal. Wear yourself out as much as you feel like : )
I wonder why Tierzoo hasn’t played this game yet
When it comes to the grapple worms, I do actually recall one of my biology lecturers showing us footage they recorded of a small worm that was able to spew fourth its insides as a means of pulling itself forward. unfortunately, however I do not have this on me.
Though not the same, some species of marine ribbon worms do utilise a similar regurgitation of organs as a means of catching prey:
ua-cam.com/video/MmGz8gotCPs/v-deo.html
(most notably at 1:01)
Daszombes: *theorises that vultures and mirros birds have similar origins*
Downpour:
Also what's interesting about the red centipedes is that they will actively run from and hide from Miros Birds, due to the fact that Miros Birds are 100% immune to the electrical shocks they produce.
my fascination for plants and animals and how they function and thrive really layers my interest in the ecology of fictional worlds
I hope this video gets a sequel now that downpour is out!
Notably about the wolf spider (37:00) is that it doesn't attack slugcat alone, but rather hovers around waiting for backup, getting more and more confident as the number of wolf spiders increases.
