Great video once once again the manticore seems to be a beast on the beach. Looks like old Jim needs to work on that swing he's definitely not getting what he should be out of that CTX swinging like that.

What update are you running on the Legend? I have tested it for deeper targets such as nickels and dimes in our highly mineralized soil here in Arizona and side by side with the Mantacore. I found no real difference between the two machines.
The latest version..What program were you using on the units? Btw what I saw today with the Legend is what I saw when the first update was done and I tested it with the 11 inch round coil..
Calabash, Thank you for the compassion. I’m biased towards the Deus 2, but thought I could hear both an iron tone and a beep with the Manticore on the 14 inch nickel.
Great testing CD, if you went with a dig it all approach similar to chasing iron with the legend to 11-12". Have you tried getting extra depth on the beach with the x-terra pro hunting threshold gaps? I was actually surprised the X-terra come so close to the legend for this depth test. Again, great work man.
I have to say thank you for all of us that put time in at the beaches Metal detecting . This shows money talks and bullshit walks .lol You do get what you pay for . They are not all equal . Thank you again for sharing.
Just watched this test and I was impressed with the manticore and the deus 2, I had thought the legend would have hit the gold ring and the other surprise was the ctx. I have 2 of the machines in your test , the legend and the manticore, it just goes to show how technology has moved on in the last few years. I sold my ctx because of the weight issue and I always said if they'd made the ctx as light as the equinox I would have kept it. This has been an eye opener for sure,ps i wonder how the triple score and the Xterra elite, oh and the garrett vortex would fair in the same test?.looks like another videos on the cards bud. Keep up the good work we appreciate it!
Doesn't look like there is anything better for the beach than the manticore, have you ever done any depth testing with pi machines to see if these newer machines can compete depth wise, looks like they almost can to me.Another fabulous video, really helpful for people trying to decide on a machine for the beach. Thanks for your time and effort.👍👍
Noticed the Manticore had a round coil..could that be the difference? Nokta had the eliptical. I think that may explain some of the difference. I think the larger angle of the round may increase depth. Just got a Nokta and love it...have found pockets of black sand that will drive it crazy.
Nice comprehensive test. I probably had thousands of hours on my ctx, but it didn't take long to figure out the manticore is superior when I switched over
I'll take accurate Target ID over a little extra sensitivity any day of the week. If your target id is not accurate, I guarantee that deep small gold is showing as iron on the screen. Seen it over and over, CZ21 did it, V3i did it, Equinox did it, Manticore did it, Deus 2 did it. They all started slowing lower numbers as targets get deeper, which means your small gold is now ringing up as iron. Sold my Deus 2, Manticore, CZ21, V3i, and Equinox. Sticking with the CTX, Sovereign, and Excal. I can trust those 3 machines.
Bull Crap...Calling Bull Crap...I can show you those machines hitting gold and giving a good VDI on the Beach that those machines cant make a whisper on over and over again....Bull crap statement you made..Keep hunting with your trusty ole boat anchors..
I had a ctx since 2014 It’s good on depth heavy and slow and it would be nice if the software worked on apple and iPad. The manticore I now have as I sold the ctx with 17/11/6 coils It can’t see the ctx being far of the manticore in depth. It’s old technology. I am hoping a new ctx is made soon 💪
That will be me I do like the ctx but it’s heavy and slow. I sold it. The mashine I had before that was the blue SOV GT The ctx I never really liked 50 tones to busy. But it found me a lot of gold. It has served well. In the wet sand it was deep wet muddy field massive depth. 17 coil… I used mals uk beach settings. I now have the manticore
Nice video. I think the prospecting mode alerts a tiny bit more than the depth audio. It could be the pitch is better for my personal ears to pick up? Have you tried prospecting audio, especially on the beach?
Great testing and a lot of work , would have liked to have seen a deep high conductor such as a big silver reales for those beach detectorists looking for shipwreck cobs . Thanks for all the hard work much appreciated.
The Gig Master say he set his recovery on one when he's hunting deep targets and he also turns up the audio gain. Do you think that would have made any difference on the Legend?
Sweet ride mr. That the scat pack?? Your gonna need a track hawk to put all those detectors into if ya get anymore lol. Great job testing all the machines. Curious why you only ran sense on the XTP like at 20 and didn't try to jack it up? Guessing not stable??
Nice job calabash!! That’s a lot of work. great job!!! Looks like the going rate is about $500 dollars an inch above 12 inches in the wet salt sand. Hahaha 😂
Nice Test👍🏻 Is Manticore Beach Deep and Beach LC about the same? nickel /Gold Just got mine and had it out once, but just had it on Gen Beach mode the first time Going out again in the early morning at negative tide 🌴thanks
I did not get to test beach deep yet in the wash ...Surf and sea water was about the same on the 4GRAM gold ring ...Needs to test it more to see how it does on the smaller gold..
Got all those units bar the new nokta score and double. Spot on with the detectors performance and accurate. Down the Beach its manticore and deus 2. Nothing else. But Calabash, the 15 inch on the manticore will blow your mind😂. You can add another 3 inches on that 16 inch nickle😂. I dont have the 13 inch D2 coil to compare yet. Santas delivering that one😊. Great testing👍
I didn't catch if your nickles were buried flat or on edge? The gold ring? The more I think about it, several of the detectors responded poorly. The Score is pretty much as deep as Legend? I have a Legend and Deus2. No matter the settings, the Ledgend hits everything in my test garden pretty hard, several targets perhaps better than the Deus with 9 inch coil. After watching your tests, I'm about to dump the Legend for water hunting? I'm also surprised to see the poor CTX performance. I had 2 3030s and recall scooping some gold rings in shallow saltwater sand at an honest 17+ inches. Those rings hit good! I've scooped 20-inch deep gold rings with Excalibur and Garrett Infinium, but after years of use and response interpretation. There is no doubt the newer machines are far more sensitive to small gold and tiny junk targets, but your Legend test results made me not want to use it on the beach ever! Unless your targets were buried on edge? That would make a difference. If the Ledgend hits an 11-inch nickle on edge, well, that's darn good. I didn't spot how you buried the targets?
I am gonna say this and dont take this the wrong way...Your depths are VERY exaggerated....The sticks dont lie.....Ours eyes and perception of depth when scooping can be very misleading....The coins were flat and the ring too...
@calabashdiggerscubadivinga8523 Good to know, but again at your beach, the Legend performance seemed lacking. The 12-inch nickel really was not a solid hit. So you thought 11 inches. The Score hit 10 inches! That seems disappointing. I have scooped large gold rings in solid mud very deep with an Excalibur 800. I have been looking for a smaller travel detector for in shallow saltwater and was leaning towards the Ledgend. It's small, light, solid build and easy to charge. The Deus might perform better in Dive? But that dang antenna and plug choice! I'm just not that sure about the Legend anymore as my new water machine? Guess the only way to really tell is to try them both on my next Caribbean trip. Heck, perhaps I should be looking at the Manticore???
Did you do the gold ring with the Double Score and Legend? Seems like you just did nickels with those but Manticore and XP you did ring in addition to...
So the amazing thing to me is that you can get a dues2 ws6 master and have all that performance and the lightest machine on the beach for seven hundred dollars.
Great testing! I can tell you one test where the Deus is way better… post storm wet sand.. usually leaves iron patches and black sand. The Manticore is not good in that case.. the Deus can pull targets out of the iron patches and black sand.
Everybody keeps saying that but I dont think you can run a recovery of 1 in the wet salt sand..or at least when I tried recovery of 1 tone became distorted..
@@calabashdiggeradventures it’s still a great machine found so many silver coins and IH pennies and nickels so deep for $500 hundred dollars good video
I swing a Legend, deus 1, gold bug pro and a deus 2 and out of all of them my deus machines are by far the easiest to swing and the performance is not superior over the Legend but it is better
Where is the video on the showing the Legend deeper in all metal over ground out in the wet salt sand on a beach?...What you will get is a more unstable machine on the beach running it in all metal if you lower the stability down...No depth gain imo..
Manticore and Deus II both have low conductor beach programs which are way deeper but are a little more noisy...I can hit the 12 inch stuff with Deus and Manticore in their more stable programs also..Manticore video will be up soon showing this..
Probably the best most comprehensive unbiased metal detector comparison for the beach I have ever seen. Well done
Thank You!
Excellent comparisons! Thank you

Sweet ride mr. That the scat pack?? Your gonna need a track hawk to put all those detectors into if ya get anymore lol. Great job testing all the machines. Curious why you only ran sense on the XTP like at 20 and didn't try to jack it up? Guessing not stable??
Not stable passes that....19 and 20 were good..
Scat Pack
Nice job calabash!! That’s a lot of work. great job!!! Looks like the going rate is about $500 dollars an inch above 12 inches in the wet salt sand. Hahaha 😂
Thanks 👍 True!

There's no losses in life, only lessons.

I had a CTX for years I used to run 17 coil it’s so slow and heavy. But wonder if it still matches the manticore with the 17 coil ?
no.. wonder what happens if I put the 15 inch coil on the Manticore..
I sold the ctx and nox 800
I have the manticore now the wm09 is out I will buy. It’s an incredible machine.
Nice Test👍🏻
Is Manticore Beach Deep and Beach LC about the same? nickel /Gold
Just got mine and had it out once, but just had it on Gen Beach mode the first time
Going out again in the early morning at negative tide 🌴thanks
Thanks for the info
Manticore is the deepest...slight over Deus II...Legend is deep also...Would love to put it up head to head with Excalibur..
Well done!!
Thanks!
Did you do the gold ring with the Double Score and Legend? Seems like you just did nickels with those but Manticore and XP you did ring in addition to...
No go on 12 inch Nickel so did not even try ring..
Calabash what Firmware version of the Legend were you running?
Latest..
You are the Man!
Thanks Calabash 🇺🇸⭐️
You are!
So the amazing thing to me is that you can get a dues2 ws6 master and have all that performance and the lightest machine on the beach for seven hundred dollars.
YEP...
Try the CTX with mals uk beach settings that’s how I used to run mine open screen try it let me know 17 coil 😊
No need it will not outperform the other machines...Plus I cant swing a 5 lb detector with no benefits ...I am getting old ...
Is 2 inches worth the 1200.00, guess that is up to your pocketbook???????
Yep that's one has to decide..
How did you bury the coins, are they flat or on edge?
flat
A bit disappointed with the depth of the noktas tbh.. great video, thx CD ! 👍🏻
Thanks for watching!
Great testing! I can tell you one test where the Deus is way better… post storm wet sand.. usually leaves iron patches and black sand. The Manticore is not good in that case.. the Deus can pull targets out of the iron patches and black sand.
Interesting ..
Have also found that the mag black sand (when concentrated in areas) seems to affect the mcore more than D2
Will pass that along thanks!
I love my D2 but i still have no idea what im digging half the time ! On the other hand i know exactly what im digging 99% of the time with my ctx
Give it time..
Given beaches are a minor fraction of my detecting, I' d struggle to justify an extra grand on top of the legend.
I totally understand..
Damn, kinda disappointing results for the legend. Maybe recovery 1 next time.
Everybody keeps saying that but I dont think you can run a recovery of 1 in the wet salt sand..or at least when I tried recovery of 1 tone became distorted..
The Legend has bc rejection too :)
I know I used it in the video on the bottle cap test..Thanks
I believe if you ran the recovery at 2 or 1 you probably would of hit the 12 inch with the legend
I cant run it that low on the Beach ...
In all metal you get better depth on the legend instead of the G setting, and thst manticore seemed mighty chatty
@@calabashdiggeradventures just curious have you tried m2 park out there ,or other multis on the legend
will not work in the salt water..
I believe I should sell my LEGEND....
