  • Long threatened, finally here. Will runs down our learnings from the many games (and many helpful comments) for some lesser known and clarified rules, starting up with the fights first part of the combat phase in 10th edition Warhammer 40k.
    It's a bit of a tricky one this, but we've set up a few scenarios to try and clarify, and remind everyone why asking 'What have you got with fights first' is a genuinely important question to ask!
    Let us know in the comments if this makes sense to you and we didn't make it MORE confusing!
    And if you did find this helpful and you want to hear more of this type of thing, hit us up in the comments for any rules that come up that you yourself would like run down in a video!

      Thanks so much! Let us know how you get on with the other videos, and if there's any other rules videos that would be handy to put together!

    I filmed this and still got it wrong in the next game! 😂

    Could you assist with the following scenario…
    One MOE & Berserker unit (Unit A) charge a unit of intercessors. The MOE grants the fights first ability to Unit A.
    Meanwhile across the board, a second unit including a second MOE & Berserker unit (Unit B) charges a unit of Death Wing Knight terminators. Again, the MOE in Unit B, grants the Berserkers in unit B fights first.
    We now have two World Eater units that have charged, both with fights first.
    So the question is, if the Dark Angels player wishes to use the “Counter offensive” stratagem. Can this be used after one of the units with fight first has activated. Or do both units with fight first have to have fought before the Counter Offensive stratagem can be used? Cheers!

      Crikey that’s a difficult one! Our interpretation is you’d be fighting first with one of the WE units, then the DA player would be able to use counter offensive next. Basically when you charge anyway you’re gaining fights first, and ordinarily you can counter offensive to interrupt the sequence against units that charges you. Hope that makes sense?

      It does, thank you. So essentially, the Fight First is really only relevant when the Berserkers & MoE are being charged. So it’s more of a defensive ability.
      When the WE player is charging, it doesn’t really come into play as defender can interrupt anyway after the first activation by the WE player, despite the Fights first ability.
      I thought that the fights first ability may override this as it’s an ability, and not something they gain by charging on their turn.

      @Sergeant_Revilo exactly! Or subsequent turns of combat if it’s the other unit isn’t wiped out!

    what about the herico intervention

    • @WeirdWolfGames
      @WeirdWolfGames  Місяць тому +1

      So Heroic Intervention calls out in the restrictions that even if you’re successful, you don’t get any charge bonus’ applied. We read this as you don’t get the fights first keyword, so activate in the remaining units step!

    Great video, but it seems there was a mistake which unit by the Deathguard has the Fight First rule. Its the Foul Blightspawn not the Biologus Putrifier.

    Does the Inactive Player fight with ALL their Fights First Units?
    Or
    Do they merely have the first choice, of what will then be the two players alternating between their Fights First Units?
    Thank you

    • @WeirdWolfGames
      @WeirdWolfGames  6 місяців тому

      Just the first pick! Then you alternate fights first units between players as you would in the rest of the combat phase, but before the NON fights first units fight.

    What if a Unit that has the Fight First Ability charges into a Unit that also has the Fight First Ability?

    • @WeirdWolfGames
      @WeirdWolfGames  6 місяців тому

      The non active player (the player being charged) fights first in that instance.

      @@WeirdWolfGamesthanks for the clarification

    You didn't clarify anything. You gave some.examples of units you know what their abilities are and very quickly. I can't follow what you say I play Tyranids. Talk slower and analyse what unit has fight first. If I talk in my main language so fast you will think I'm chueing something...

      Thanks for the feedback brother, was my first rules video so appreciate the feedback! Especially around talking slower, when I get excited I tend to rush a little. Have another one coming on deep strike, please do let us know if that one works a bit better when it drops!
