Вставка

- "We will see some sort of demonstrative kinetic strike that will alter the facts on the ground in Ukraine. But not a nuke."
If the West will ‘not use tactical nuclear weapons’ against Putin, what else would be used to respond? General Philip Breedlove describes on #TimesRadio.

You can be assured, regardless of all the current fervour from the media and social media, that these military people have everything well in hand.
The reason the US no longer insists on replying with nuke vs nuke is that we no longer need a nuke to have a nuke level of impact with escalation...
@k 1 That's why he said the first retaliation to a tactical nuke would be conventional, but if Putin went on, the same couldn't be said for the second retaliation.
Brilliant analysis. Reasoned and thoughtful.
The General has to ask and reply as the interviewer can’t do her job.
This General is the cherry on top of the cake when relates to war analysis. Very intelligent, weighted restrained with wording a true legend.
When he said there were conventional options more destructive than tactical nukes, it's kind of like during WW2 where the fire bombing attacks on Tokyo and other cities, Dresden too, were just as destructive as the atomic bombs.
They can scratch the whole Kerch bridge attack off the retaliation list... that ship has sailed... and caught fire, and sunk!

Very informative Video. Thank you so much for your service, and let's hope that nukes are not a part of the equation now and forever.
Sadly it is very much a part of the equation since Putin keep threatening to use them if Russian soil is attacked... And now Russia consider the occupied parts of Ukraine as Russian soil and they can now use nukes saying Russia was attacked when Ukraine try to take back their land.
Why don’t you let finish his response first before you start asking another question
Breedloves calm and sensible response is great 👍
Now we understand at last why "Mutually Assured Destruction" is so flawed:
It relies on *all* parties being sane. As soon as one breaks and falls into insanity, the world is destroyed.
Exactly. We've recently seen what happens when a leader with a fragile ego loses power, and they don't care about the damage they cause to avoid being seen as a "loser".
It's worth studying trump to get a feel for how putin might respond.
Indeed. The idea that the west should get involved in a regional conflict in support of a non-NATO hopelessly corrupt country like Ukraine to whom we owe no defense treaties and strike Russia when it has not threatened or acted against NATO in any way shape or form, which will almost certainly escalate to an understandable nuclear response by Russia against NATO, truly is insane.
No it only requires one. If Russia goes insane and will stop at nothing to get what they want than NATO has humanity in their hands and there duty is to be sane, rational with a cool head to not escalate things to the point of dooming us all.
you make a very good point.

One option is deny Russia any use of the sea for anything include commercial.
We largely look away as commercial ships transport oil to India and China, in fact we largely protect the sea for "everyone" to use for trade. I think Russia would be denied that. ... No more commercial shipping for anything. Also, I don't think anyone except maybe North Korea would want to trade with a Russia that has used nuclear weapons against Ukraine.
If China or India for some reason continued, I think all the other countries of the world could easily be convinced to join secondary sanctions of any country trading anything with Russia.

who thinks a conventional retaliation would not trigger an escalation.
It very well could, but lets remember it is Russia that has gotten us here. Also if Russia isnt already a global pariah, it will be after any nuclear attack. If Russia responds with nukes to a conventional strike, then Moscow will be a radioactive crater, and most of us will be dead.

Good thing is, NATO are monitoring every move Russia makes. They will know if a nuclear strike is going to happen, and will most certainly have the high ground, to take action

All through the cold war and after, even during the Ukraine war, nuclear powers were always deathly afraid of any kind of direct military confrontation between each other due to the doctrine of mutually assured destruction. Now we speak rather casually of direct military confrontation with Russia if Putin were to use tactical nukes.
I do not like the American word nuke,it is a diminutization and should not be used. This situation is no video game.
A bit rude to not introduce him. What is his name?

General Breedlove’s analysis of the status of Russian troops as we enter winter, is dead on. What Russia is going to end up with is 1000s of men starving and freezing to death... no/little ammo and zero desire to fight. Ukraine needs to be prepared to take 1000s of men as POWs over a short period of time.
It’s interesting how they won’t learn from, of all people, Napoleon!
Good interview 👍👍😃
2:25 Kerch Bridge was mentioned and a day later, boom it's gone! Crazy!
That's cool that Louis CK takes breaks from comedy to let us know about the war.
Why would U.S. response to Russia-Ukraine conflict be any more successful than its response to Taliban in Afghanistan? Two reasons 1. Ukraine is shouldering much of this war (U.S. is not losing people) 2. Black Sea which allows any country to supply UKRAIN with food/weapons easily.
Yeah but afgan is different. One its hard to conquer people that spread out. With any number of troops if they don't have some level of turn coat buy in that's real. If Afghan had like a queen. Empire Or something they believed in. the occupation could have been outsource but you can't make a nation if a nation doesn't feel itself as a nation.

It's also a WMD so there will be a a response this time.
@@pjhgerlach so are chemical weapons. And again. We did nothing when saran was used in syria.
One thing that I don't understand is why are chemical weapons, so inherently worse than conventional weapons? There was little to no response to leveling of cities, mass rapes and murders. How will chemical weapons escalate the situation further?
NATO air force planes will be added to the equation. If Russia thinks they have issues now, they haven't seen anything yet.
we need a special Nato operation in Ukraine
To help ruzzia with their goodwill gestures, lol😀
russians actually believe they are fighting NATO in Ukraine
And you need to get a brain
Whatever happened to the days when news broadcasters would asking questions instead of asking for validation to pre-prepared statement their handlers prepared?
“They could drop the Kerch strait bridge”… interesting!
I wonder if NATO members hit by radioactive fallout could invoke article 5 and consider Russia’s tactical nuke in Ukraine an attack on them, thus obligating NATO to reply?
Nato will use missiles planes etc not need ground troups.
Like the gunship stealth bomberd etc they will smasch all Russian forces in just a couple of days, the targets plans are already in place, the planes and missiles are allready fueld up.
thats been spoke about many times already
Yes. It has been published already
Yes, absolutely.
Of course, any single bequerel higher than normal on the West side would trigger article 5.
Though I believe there are options other than a nuclear response, the fear or the use of more nuclear weapons would cause either Russia, or any other countries would cause them to respond. Any county unafraid to use nuclear weapons would be seen as an extreme threat, and untrustworthy. It would be difficult then to deescalate the situation from nuclear, therefore any use can likely lead to nuclear war, and the end of the world.
I agree with what you’re saying, but Mutually Assured Destruction is contingent upon rational actors.
We’re trying to figure that out with Putin.
He may well think there’s not much point in a world if he’s not in it.
Disagree. Nukes were used during WWII. The world is still here. Nuclear weapons being used doesn't necessarily lead to that outcome.
@@TheMahayanist those were 2. We are talking thousands of nukes one time
@@secretgoldfish931 That is my point. Putin doesn't seem rational. If we simply attack Russia in response, showing they weren't afraid to use them, they would probably respond with another nuclear attack. It could probably escalate. The best hope if Putin goes nuclear, one of his more rational men would stop him.
@@TheMahayanist Nuclear weapons today are different than atomic bombs then. There was no other nuclear, or atomic response we had to worry about then. People saw the effects, and hadn't been used in war since. It was then used as a deterrence since.
He gets killed if he tries it,they won't let him do that
It's very interesting he speaks about a conventional response to a nuke from russia. Putin has lost his best tank brigade, the one he'd parade and is supposed to protect the Kremlin, very early in their invasion.
A conventional military take out by the US, NATO, etc. would be relatively easy, since the brave Ukrainans have basically won, it's just a matter of time. UA have some genius PR moves like having a nice price list for equipment like tanks, BMPs, helicopters, etc. and a guarantee of being treated well, if they surrender. Couple this with the fact that the corruption within the russian military means they can't even give their conscripts uniforms.
You don't understand that a lot of Russians are prepared to die for Crimea and The Donbas. Like a lot of Amerikans are prepares to die for Florida. The question that you should ask yourself is whether you are also prepared to die for these regions? The stakes are simply much higher for the Russians. So you better not get into a fight with them over this.
source: trust me bro!
Yeah. But Putin would not retaliate with conventional forces. He would escalate with nukes. Then what? The fact that the west does not use nukes, does not mean putin won't use them.
Great general and very reasonable man - that is the main reason why US Forces are the best in the world. PS. I am not American, but German, so I am allowed to make such judgement ;-)
