      Patra, not all brands of almond flour work well for baking. Some are ground more course and the ingredients don't bind together as well causing baked goods to sink in the middle, be oily or gooey. The brand you use does make a difference and if you want to use homemade flour you need to sift it to remove those larger chunks. I have a video comparing homemade flour and store bought flour and you can how they differ here ua-cam.com/video/s8SGGny8RBs/v-deo.html

      your video is very good, everything done in a tasty way; short, clean, informative. I suggest you don't worry about the dislikes. We, users, perfectly understand the competition on the youtube:-). You're doing just great. As of recipe, I am not a big fan of bananas, but was looking for keto recipes of banana bread with the substitution of the bananas with an applesauce. I am going to try your recipe with my modified version :-)

      Thank you for the kind message laaramat! It's always great to know what my viewers like or dislike so I can improve the work I do. To make this recipe Keto friendly, you can substitute the coconut sugar for a lower carb sweetener like Swerve, and you can also use pumpkin puree in place of the banana. Applesauce may work but I have tried it. Please let me know how it goes after you make it.

      Living Healthy With Chocolate great video. perhaps the 🖓are strict Paleo people. I am not sure if coconut sugar is Paleo. However i am not a big fan of sugar so i use stevia and added lucuma powder as sweeteners. Didn't want to open a can of coconut milk so i used kefir. Also added a bit of vanilla favor. oh, substituted 1/3 cup of coconut flour for 1/3 almond flour. Not sure if tapioca flour and arrow root flour is the same thing but i used tapioca flour because i didn't have arrow root. We will see how it comes out. 👍👍👍👍👍 Don't worry about the thumb downs, these people are invisible. Oh and i didn't want to melt coconut oil so i used half MCT oil and grape seed oil. I will use Kerry Gold grass-fed butter next time.

      Living Healthy With Chocolate my guess is 1-they’re vegans or 2-do not believe that coconut oil and eggs and honey are healthy. I guarantee you it’s #2 :-) or even could be that the ingredients you used are hard to find and pricey

    Just tried this recipe and it was absolutely delicious. I've also added
    -> Cinnamon (1 tbsp), cardamon and nutmeg (1 tsp of each)
    -> Chopped walnuts and chopped dark chocolate
    -> One whole banana cut in half - in which I added at the top of the banana bread, with some more cinnamon and dark chocolate.
    Delicious!

    Hello Adriana! Thanks for sharing a recipe that works actually! I tried many and this is the best by far. It has a great texture. I made only a little alteration, I didn’t have any tapioca or arrowroot in hand so omitted it, also changed the coconut sugar for the same reason and used some agave syrup and xsilitol, and added whole walnuts at the end. Thankd again! I’ll try your other recipes too.

      Hi Najeeb, it's definitely more difficult to bake with coconut flour, so when I do I always included the measurements in grams also so you can weigh the amount and have a better changes of it coming out good. But even then, the brand of coconut flour you use may affect the overall texture. I hope you try this recipe I posted. It's really that good and there has been people who made it and left positive feedback on my site. Keep me posted and let me know how it goes when you make it.

    Looks soooooooo tasty. I'm definitely going to try it. Just a note.....almond flour is not "just ground almonds". If you make almond milk from the almonds first, then dry and regrind the pulp you'll have a really fine almond flour to bake with. Store it in the freezer though.

    • @Livinghealthywithchocolate
      @Livinghealthywithchocolate  5 років тому

      Hi Linda Thanks! Hope you try the recipe! Your method of making almond flour works but it does not give baked goods the best results. It may make the product dense, crumbly or it may not bake through and sink in the middle. I find the best way of making almond flour is by blanching almonds and then grinding them, making sure to sift it to remove the larger pieces. I have a full video tutorial about this and in the video I show the difference a muffing has when baked with homemade almond flour versus finely ground store-bought almond flour. Here's the video: ua-cam.com/video/s8SGGny8RBs/v-deo.html

    Hello Adriana! Thanks for this amazing recipe! Can we replace the arrowroot powder with something else? I can’t find it. Does the recipe works with coconut flour too? Thanks!

    • @Livinghealthywithchocolate
      @Livinghealthywithchocolate  6 років тому

      Hi Kena! Coconut flour will not work in place of the almond flour unless you modify the recipe completely. The recipe calls for a very small amount of arrowroot so you can leave it out and it should be fine. I added it to give the bread an airier texture. You could try adding tapioca flour using the same amount, or try adding 1/2 tablespoon of coconut flour.

  • @CuriousCat777

    After I soak and peel my almonds I blend w a little bit of water and there’s so much pulp leftover.
    I pour out the milk. Add more water and blend again. Repeat.
    Then I have this fine almond flour /pulp. I’ve never used it but maybe I’ll try w this recipe.

    • @Livinghealthywithchocolate
      @Livinghealthywithchocolate  6 років тому

      For baked goods made with almond flour to have a light texture you need to you finely ground almond flour. This also helps the ingredients to bind together so the product doesn't sink in the middle. I'm not sure if the pulp you have left over from making the milk will work in this recipe but it would be fun to try! You can see how I make almond flour and the comparison I made in muffins between store-bought almond flour and the one I made. Here 's the video:ua-cam.com/video/s8SGGny8RBs/v-deo.html
      You could use the pump you have for making granola and I have a recipe here: ua-cam.com/video/Vaahy7CfYPk/v-deo.html

    Hi Adriana, just found out your videos here... I made Soft & Chewy Ginger Cookies, love it and has become one of my favorite cookies now.... I have not eaten cookies since I can't have carb in my diet... I have some questions:
    #1
    In your recipe, is using coconut oil, can I use solid coconut oil and melt it or I should get the liquid coconut oil?
    #2
    Can I use regular honey instead of raw honey? Thx...

    • @Livinghealthywithchocolate
      @Livinghealthywithchocolate  6 років тому

      Hi minerallady! I only use pure, cold press coconut oil which solidifies if temperatures are colder than about 75°F. I don't recommend buying the coconut oil that never solidifies because its not pure and it doesn't contain all the nutrients. Anyway, when my recipes call for melted coconut oil, you can take the solid oil and melt it before measuring the amount you need. I usually place the can in a pot of boiling water or you can melt a little on the microwave. Definitely measure your oil liquid or solid when my recipes call for either so your measurements are accurate.
      As for the honey, regular honey can be used in place of raw honey.

    So I'm very new to Paleo cooking, especially the ingredients. Is your arrowroot powder used as a thickening agent? I ask because I have xanthan gum for cooking and didn't know if this would be a viable substitute. thanks!

    • @Livinghealthywithchocolate
      @Livinghealthywithchocolate  7 років тому

      Hi Shelby, sometimes the arrowroot is used as a thickener, but in this recipe its used to give the bread a lighter texture. I'm not sure xanthan gum would work in place but if you try it please let me know how it goes.

      @Livinghealthywithchocolate  6 років тому

      Ivona, I do not use any grain or gluten flours in my recipes. If you like, you can make this substitution, but add less since it's drier than nut flours, or add more of the wet ingredients.

      Thank you kvip2453! In this recipe, since Im already adding banana and flax you can omit the eggs. The dough will have enough to bind together but please note that your bread will have a denser texture.

      Making substitutions will give you different results as far as taste and texture, but you can give it a try. Rice flour is usually more absorbent and has different properties so you can use it but you may want to add less.

    Hi adriana will this work on gluten free all purpose flour? With the same measurements on your video?

    • @Livinghealthywithchocolate
      @Livinghealthywithchocolate  5 років тому +1

      Hi Tony, gluten free all purpose flour is drier than almond flour. I suggest you omit the tapioca flour and substitute the almond flour for about 2 cup of GF all purpose flour. You may need to add more milk, but Im not sure without testing the recipe. If you play with this recipe please let me knowhow it goes.

    • @Livinghealthywithchocolate

      No, coconut flour will not work in place of almond flour. You could try using another nut flour like cashew flour or sunflower seed flour. Also an oat flour may work as long as you add a little less to the recipe.

    Can i subtitute eggs with unsweetened applesauce and coconut milk with almond milk?

    • @Livinghealthywithchocolate
      @Livinghealthywithchocolate  5 років тому

      Substituting eggs with applesauce will give too much moisture to the recipe. You could use aquafaba instead or maybe just take it without the eggs. Your bread will be dense but it may still taste good. Coconut is higher in fat so if you use almond milk, try adding less so it docent make the bread soggy.

      You could try using aquafaba, or flax eggs. But I think you'll be ok to not make any substitutions and omit the eggs in this recipe since the banana helps in binding the ingredients. The texture will be denser, but it may still be good.

      @Livinghealthywithchocolate  7 років тому +1

      Rice flour is drier and has different properties. If you want to try and use it, you may need to adjust how much of the wet ingredients you add. You could also try using a seed flour from pumpkin or sunflower seed. A gluten-free oat flour may also work, but with each of these substitutions your bread will have a different texture and taste. Please let me know if you try it.
