I understand the desire to balance the darkness with some levity, but the problem is three fold to me: A: It wasn't done well. B. It wasn't the right time and place. It should have been earlier in the season. C. It ultimately wasn't necessary because in the book Otto initiated this outreach to the Triarchy.
2:21:31 The most ruthless thing Aemond did in the book is the same as in the show: terrorizing the Riverlands by burning innocent villages to the ground.
On the last question, my suspicion is TRoP perhaps outperformed in some Asian markets and so there is more of a focus there now (it will now land in their evenings). And this way you also avoid Europe being spoiled by all US people watching the night before (realistically only us hardcore fantasy fans are watching at 3am). I know some people ended up basically just reading reviews the next day and then not catching up on the whole thing until much later.
The impact actually didn't kill caraxes. Caraxes managed clamber ashore before expiring. So Daemon probably didnt survive the war but could have survived the impact itself
"They've got people who know the lore, and love the lore." Really? You could have fooled me with the way they have made so many pointless changes to it this season.

1:05:10 To play the devil's advocate, it could be that the dragon beneath Daemon (Vhagar at that point, IIRC) cushions his fall.

It really was such a slap in the face to anyone who just wants a simple adaptation of the story.
