All kidding aside Robert that was a great enjoyable discussion , and we appreciate the long hours you frequently put in for us so often. As great as this was even you were looking tired for a bit of this one and rightfully so , that long of duration with rapid fire questions will make anyone a bit weary. Thanks again Robert you are a true legend and thank you everyone who tuned in and especially those who stayed until the end of this one. @Jokin' H'ghar I am right there with you now. I do have my moments where I get frustrated with how long it has taken , just based on how eager I am to eventually read it. And of course i do realize the task at hand and how difficult of a write and generally huge undertaking TWoW has become. Starting from an originally planned trilogy to the vast level of depth and complexity that GRRM has taken this series (ASoIaF) , culminating to its largest and broadest in that respect with TWoW. It does my head in (in a good way) just thinking about , analyzing , and theorizing about this rich , deep & complex series of books ; so major respect for GRRM being the one actually writing them. I realize art of any kind , especially this level of literature is not the snap of a finger or wave of a wand ; GRRM is human , he is getting older (which George has admitted and even said aging does not make any easier for him writing wise) so I am just patiently waiting for the completion of TWoW and more than willing to give him the ample time he needs in order to deliver yet another masterpiece.

2:09:00 I was thinking that wolves are decisive and independent while being fiercely loyal to the pack, and so when Robert mentioned living in the "now," that fits with my suspicion that Jon will be much more decisive in doing what he thinks is best for everyone and will be less anxious about people's reactions or future consequences. There will be a lot less planning and less internal turmoil afterwards over what people think of him. The exceptional way he behaved after receiving the Pink Letter will become his norm.
Robert, just a thought for your content - but to mitigate between revealing spoilers and also having content to create, you could do a series of "First Reaction and Thoughts" videos for each chapter of TWOW as you're reading through. It might be fun for us to experience a first-read all together on this channel!
Hey Robert, I just seen the part about you saying that Rhaegar probably believed that he would have a daughter and planned on naming her Visenya and I agree with that, I had that theory when Daenerys saw him in the House of the Undying. Do you think its possible that when Rhaegar looked up at Dany his eyes meeting hers then telling Ellia "there must be one more" that he saw Dany in a vision from the future and assumed she was his future daughter and that's why he said there must be one more?
The best thing that happened to House Martell was when Raegar married Elia. At the time King Aerys wasn't crazy so the future looked good. Too bad Raegar didn't do something about his father, but then we wouldn't have a story :)
Most excellent, as always! 😆 Sam has the horn at the Citadel where Pate is, wouldn't be surprised if he loses it to him. Also think show combined some of fAgeon story with Jon which is why he was named that on the show. Don't think Lyanna named him Aegon in ASOIAF books, think that's a D&D show construct. My guess is she named him Aemon because Rhaegar told her about his relationship to him and how they shared prophesy. So she honored that by giving Jon Aemon's name. Rhaegar may still get the princess (princes) that was (were) promised with Dany on the throne and Jon and Aegon as her "half-brother"/ nephew husbands. Jon as a dead resurrected Fire Wight probably couldn't give Dany children so she'd need the Blackfyre heir Aegon to do that. Plus that unites the red & black dragons similar to Tudor rose. Likely ruling more as a triumvirate with Dany sitting on the Iron Throne in Kings Landing as a figurehead type Queen, Aegon as Prince Consort and Lord Protector of Dragonstone (dragon seat - new dragons / eggs), Jon as Prince Consort and Lord Protector of the Nights Watch at Castle Black (rebuilding the wall). The Others plus Euron/Cersei as Bloodstone Emperor type will probably change the game forcing Jon, Dany and fAegon to put their differences aside and work together to defeat the common threat. Their battle partnership will change the game with them continuing to work together to rebuild a new society from the rubble and aftermath. Also Bran will be pivotal in getting them to work together vs destroying each other. Could see Bran in a Prime Minister guiding (last greenseer) type role creating a type of Parliament with each of the Seven kingdoms having a Lord/Leader representative as they transition slowly from fuedal society to more republic type rule vs having Bran as "King" for the end game. Bran as PM over the entire United Kingdom of Westeros. Maybe he'll be known as something like Bran the Greenseer Prince, Lord Protector of the Gods Eye and Grand Magister over the Westerosi United Seven Kingdoms.
A question for all fans: How will you feel if the story never gets finished? Especially after investing the many countless hours/days we've all spent on it. I _would've_ been absolutely crushed, but have steeled my heart against the all-too-real possibility that GRRM is simply too slow to finish this epic series. If it takes 10-12 years for ADoS to be written... smh... it's a lost cause, in my mind. He has too many other irons in the fire, and won't even start ADoS directly after releasing Winds. I wish we could freeze time so we could all be guaranteed a finish to my all-time favorite story.
This was a remarkable transmission and feat of concentration. I know this particular channel doesn't like to get into it, but I am feeling currently Grrm needs to call in help. His gardening approach needs assisting some extremely high quality ghost writing to fill in the massive amount of movements and arrangements that need to occur. The best members of the ASOIAF fan community plus extremely skillful authors should be assembled for consultation and to keep in view all the themes and symbolism, to push this through. Otherwise this incredible work of art will be left hanging and it will have trouble being enshrined in history ... An untold tale.
I think you are right that he will not finish it, so I agree with that. But I dont agree that he should let the fandom or ghosts inside the keep. If he does not finish it, people will be left in wonder and he wont risk to loose the war, and I think he actually tried his main plotlines in the show, and became horrified when it failed. This has all the characteristics of an unfinished story, its too big to be realized, and thats why it personifies the meaning of "fantasy" - both as a genre and a project.
I think he's gonna take the end of the series to his grave unfortunatly⚰ but it's okay, because we'll have 47 prequel novels to read between now and then.😒🙄
omg you have a greyhound?! I have 2 lurchers and theyre just the best breed ever! i have mobility issues but i can literally take them out and sit down while they sprint and then they sleep!! haha
Hey little old lucy brown :) what’s it like cleaning up their fur? It’s quite difficult for me with my dog who’s a husky/akita but i just wondered what a lurcher would be like. Also, Your name reminds me of this song… “Good morning Judge” - Wynonie Harris
Mace Tyrell will be in King’s Landing for Cersei’s trial. He’s very clear in saying that he won’t use his armies to sure up Tommen’s rule until after his daughter is tried and exonerated.
After listening to Tony Teflons theory that Ghost will have to die to get Jon Back in his body and your theory about Shireen, I’m merging these 2 ideas now. Could Shireen be sacrificed at the same time as Jon’s body is being burned on a pyre and couldn’t Jon / Ghost attempt to save Shireen from the flames causing Jon 2 get pushed back into his own body causing ghosts death? I can’t help thinking Jon will come back with Ghosts white hair and red eyes (bloodraven/ weirwood / fire and ice). The only thing throwing me off this idea is his Targaryen look if that does happen.... will he be picked out as a Targayen with a new look? 🤔
Only a short way in but I wanted to comment before the thought left my mind. On the superchat re: Nights King being a Blackwood and that being the reason they were pushed out of the North - I like the thought - it would add a dimension if he was a younger son but the only child of a Stark Dad/Blackwood Mum and the Starks pushed them out because of this "tainted blood" It keeps both the Old Nan story having truth and provides a reasonable "excuse" beyond a Stark power grab for the Blackwoods being forced out of the North
It could have been a Stark power grab if the parents' genders and families are reversed. Force the family out for spawning the son, use the mother's marriage to take their land.
A few questions/ideas... - If Arya is intent on killing Ilyn Payne, will she likely recover Ice back in the hands of House Stark? - If Jeyne Westerling is indeed pregnant, I do like the idea of the Blackfish, upon his escape from Riverrun, attempt to rescue her should he actually learn of a potential fact? - We must find out about Benjen Stark's whereabouts, surely! 😂 - I hope Bran and Rickon don't lose their direwolves... - Before Dany makes her crossing into Westeros, I'd like her to stop by Braavos where possibly, she might track down the house with the red door. - I bloody hope those Harpies don't kill Ser Barriston! 🤞🤔 - If Jon 'does' encounter Lady Stoneheart, I'd actually like to see some war of words between the two of them. Sure, Jon never did try to prove himself to her but maybe he'll let his feelings out. I doubt she'd even try to kill him being Stark related and all. - I hope Gregor the Mountain won't become a zombie like in the show. Will Arya even attempt to assassinate him. She would have likely become quick and nimble like a cat though she might slip up where brother Sandor might show up and have their final showdown. Will Myrcella die?
Jeyne is not pregnant. Her mother was giving her a drink to help get her with child, but it was in fact to keep her from getting pregnant. Her parents where in on Tywin's plot to get Walder Frey to bring down Robb.
Ohhhh Lady Westerling is extremely shady. The only one that isn't was Ser Raynald, Robb's companion. But the mom and her uncle had bad vibes, and their ancestor was a woods witch. Everything is spelled out for us to discover that she's poisoning her daughter. As a quick aside, Robb had an uncanny ability to win the loyalty of young soldiers from houses of questionable loyalty.
Yeah I noticed that too, it seems like it's been cut down because this video is supposed to be 3 hours and 22 minutes long but when I opened it, it says there's only 1 hour and 59 minutes long.
Hmm, mine still says 3h22m when it is playing. Strange. Im in Aus, surely the region wouldnt make a difference, but im watching only 11mins after your comment
FodderForForeshadowing , I think UA-cam temporarily caps most new streams at 2 hours for a short period of time and then usually after an hour or so they release the full length vid.
I'm less than 10 minutes in, and I'm cracking up imagining just how HUGE "TWOW" is going to be, physically. I definitely agree it's going to be at least two volumes, if not more.
Well she definitely warged into a cat to see when she is blinded. So I'm sure her warging powers will come into play in Braavos and not just with her wolf dreams.
Arya go back in westeros when she hear about jon s death and go direct to wall,Jamie and Brienne also go to the wall to help Jon to claim the nord like Robb wanted before red wedding....
No, that's not true. In 2019 he wrote on Not A Blog that he hadn't even started on A Dream of Spring (unless of course he's tricking us, but I think that's unlikely).
As for the prologue character always dying, GRRM has said he would like to break this rule now that he has established it. I guess Pate "surviving" could be breaking the rule, but I don't think it counts. I also think it would be a little cliche to break the rule only in the final book. So I'm pretty confident TWoW will begin with a POV character we expect to die, but actually doesn't. As for what happens in ADoS, that would then be basically a 50/50 as to whether the prologue character dies or not. Or maybe GRRM would like to break his rule of establishing rules only to then break them later.
I like your Kingslanding plotline predictions. I hope Cersei blows the sept up like in the show, then as you said it doesn't go well for her at that point. I really hope to see F-Agone do some either cool or just really interesting things before he ultimately bites the dust.
I believe if Jon does kill Daenerys, it will be because of the Others but like you said it may not happen the exact way that Azor Ahai killed Nissa Nissa. However their bloodline is important for the great war and they'll play a very vital role besides just riding dragons and sacrificing their armies. They were destined to meet for a reason.
Jon's Nissa Nissa moment could have already occured when he burned Ygritte's body after the battle whom he loved. He sacrificed her life when he warned the Night's Watch. The significance of that act may be revealed after he's resurrected by Melissandre and give him the power to use long claw as a flaming sword like Berric. Jon is fire and ice united internally in one person - doesn't need Dany for that aspect.
But why? why? why? Is it taking more than a decade for one book, I agree with the guy who suggested breaking the book down and giving us thirsty fans something to chew on at least half a book and then wait for the other half and the other half and the next half but for the love of God, please GRRM give us something. I started reading this book when my daughter was not even one and she is now 10
@@brittanygoodwin4041 I feel you and I do wish Grrm would just go ahead and finish or tell us if he lost his passion for ASOIAF, he keeps on picking up other projects when he hasn't even finished Winds of Winter yet.
I didn't realize the thematic play of Widow's Wail and Oathkeeper on the Tower of Joy. I am seriously such a straightforward, face-value reader and person in general. All the interesting stuff is lost on me and good god reading the prophecy/dream stuff was so confusing.
Damn this just blew my mind lol. I never thought about the "promised" being that. Maybe the Nights King, possibly being a stark, was promised to The Others? But that would make him the prince who was promised so maybe not. Dany dies I'm pretty sure so it could be Jon who promises himself to The Others after killing dany just like Azor Ahai thrust his sword through Nisa Nisa (his lover) before supposedly fighting The Others. I never thought about Prince that was promised being promised in that type of way rather than being promised to fight and save he's promised to sacrifice and therefore save. Really interesting theory you have there!
@@GANGLYMAN117 It's either Jon or Dany being sacrificed to the others. It makes more sense for it to be Jon I just don't know how that works now that he's going to be brought back, especially if it has anything to do with R'hllor. I think it's some sort of peace treaty that was struck with the others. Winter is coming, literally, for one of you. I've never thought Azor Ahai was a good person though. I've always gotten the feeling like they caused and brought on the long night so maybe they have to deal with the mess they've created, maybe when the last commander of the dead is slain or... melts, I don't know. That could be why we haven't seen a "night king" in the books. And hey, maybe they can go rule together after he kills her. He can always, at that point just touch her forehead and bring her back right?
Little finger inherited a "finger" as a tower. His grandfather was so small and meaningless to the lords of the land that they could've given something else rather than the finger! Just a theory...
Spoiler talk for whoever's only read the books...What if Deanarys pulls a Purge of Strathholme on Kings Landing. The Others have pushed south to Kings Landing and have broken into the city, so she decides that it would be a better mercy to burn the city to the ground rather than let the people suffer and become undead soldiers.
Barristan kills faegon, becoming a kingslayer and keeping his title as Slayer of the Last Blackfyre Pretender Also Jon IS the 3rd mount come on now lol she's gonna ride him to love alright 😏
Forley Prester. He'll be the POV. The Brotherhood will take Jeyne. Not Edmure tho. Also aren't BWB Targaryen loyalists deep down? Greenbeard, Thoros, House Dayne, Richard Lonmouth is Lem...
So one of the biggest problems with The Show towards the end was teleporting armies and people. Who the fuck knows how many books it would take to actually finish this thing. The sad truth is there is no way its gonna happen
Areo "why are we wasting time here" Hotah with Darkstar and Obara, if Quentyn is dead his story (or at least having him as a POV) was a HUGE waste of time.
I think it's a slow burning plot point. It'll take another book before Dany gets to Westeros, plenty of time for Doran to completely sour on her. Quentyn's death will be a primer for a lot of the Seven Kingdoms rejecting Daenerys.
The scene where Jon visits Bran to say goodbye is so strange. He is so afraid and full of dread. Cat seems like a monster already. It's as if she is protecting Bran in his altered state from Jon, because Jon had come to kill him. The words- It should have been you- don't really fit the situation. Unless they mean that Jon should have been the one Used by the Three eyed Raven, the children, the weirwoods; not Bran...
Natie 3 I’ve always found this interaction odd as well. Jon indicates he would always shy away from Cat’s glares and backhanded comments, so I think I understand why he’s been avoiding going to Bran since she will be there. But her statement has always bugged me. What should have been Jon? Broken? Dead? Disregarded? Suffering? I’ve read the series several times and wish we were given more insight from Cat. She never reflects on it after the fact. Unless she meant it should have you who died young (in that she believes Bran will die), it could simply be on last “dig” at him because she knows she’ll never see him again. Man that lady was harsh!
GRRM is a terrible writer. 365 days per year. 10 years. 3650. That means he could have wrote a half a page a day and WoW should have been done. Maybe if he stopped worrying about describing the food it might be done. Also stop gardening.... it's time for harvest. He stole my heart, took my money..... and ran. A Dream of Spring is just that. A DREAM!
Not exactly. He worked on the show and the history books. Spent less than 10 years on TWoW, then. Also, this will be the largest book in the franchise. Books 4 and 5 were one book, as it was. This new one might be 3 books long. As much patience as people have had, we need to be more patient and understand how much time this next book will take and why
@@cristiansaucedo4707Your comment is now 2+ years old, and still nothing. No book, and not even a solid update. I can't understand this kid gloves approach everyone has with this grown up adult. He got himself into this mess, he's overwhelmed and that's no one's fault but his. And it's up to him and him alone to pull himself up by his bootstraps and man up and conquer this situation. He took on entirely too much. I can't believe anyone could think anything other than that the situation is that he is uninterested or is now disinterested in this book. He likes world building, he would rather explore the map and gather resources and fight low level enemies than to compete the main quest. My kid does the same shit with any video games where you can customize your character. He is spending all his time and resources in customizing instead of playing the game. There will be no Winds of Winter. There MAY be one more Dunk and Egg book, and one book more is best case scenario. And even at that, he said he wanted like 5+ MORE D&E books if I recall correctly. That ain't happening. Idk why it's considered rude or fucked up for people to say that he's going to die before he completes this series. He's not young, he's not healthy, and from some of his previous posts, he seems prone to severe melancholy. He's getting older, and like with everyone who grows old, friends and family start dying off, and thats going to do nothing but harm his well -being. It's not heartless or cruel to say his death will come before the series ending, it's the cold truth. The only day of sunshine I can see is that most likely, Winds is the hardest book to complete and once it's done, ADoS should pretty much be a breeze since what happens in #6 will dictate and set up book #7. Shouldn't take as long, definitely shouldn't take (as of now) 12+ years
Yes, it has been 2 years since I posted that comment. I do see what you're saying. Hopefully, he finishes the series. If he doesn't, if he passes away before that, then hopefully the ASoIaF community comes together and comes up with their own Book 6 and 7. As people should understand: He doesn't owe us any books and we don't owe him any money.
Im still hoping against all hope that jon isant a Targaryan. The lowly person being the secret heir or somehow special by birth is a fantasy trope ive alwsys hated. And a big part of me has always hoped george set it up and made it so obvious to fuck with people like he does sometimes in other matters. I know occams razor definitely points towards the theory being what everyone thinks it is. But it being that way in the end will genuinely harm my enjoyment of the series. I think it would be better for the story if he isant. So i hope against all odds. But ive never really liked jon snow, sobthere is that too lol
I accidently click on one video by mistake now freaking youtube keeps recommending this channel, im sorry im sure your content is great but I just dont care about hours long conversations about fake history and fake people im sorry but I gotta block ya because im just not interested and youtube dont know how not to recommend bad clicks i did not correct any words or punctuate anything as a treat for those who care bout that tuff

I do agree at 6:40 i prefer groerge to drop the 7 books and just go for what ever number it takes but make them less big.
Dream of Spring coming 2040
don’t be so optimistic
The funny think is that you're most likely correct
He’ll only be 94!!
A dream of spring is just that.... a dream!
I think he's gonna take the end of the series to his grave unfortunatly⚰ but it's okay, because we'll have 47 prequel novels to read between now and then.😒🙄
Love your channel
Keep going!
Robert love your channel mate. If you could get Preston on. That would be amazing 😃
I got the impression that Robert was politely trying to avoid plainly saying that he wouldn't want to do a collab with Preston Jacobs
omg you have a greyhound?!
On the superchat re: Nights King being a Blackwood and that being the reason they were pushed out of the North - I like the thought - it would add a dimension if he was a younger son but the only child of a Stark Dad/Blackwood Mum and the Starks pushed them out because of this "tainted blood"
It keeps both the Old Nan story having truth and provides a reasonable "excuse" beyond a Stark power grab for the Blackwoods being forced out of the North
- I hope Bran and Rickon don't lose their direwolves...
- Before Dany makes her crossing into Westeros, I'd like her to stop by Braavos where possibly, she might track down the house with the red door.
- I bloody hope those Harpies don't kill Ser Barriston! 🤞🤔
- If Jon 'does' encounter Lady Stoneheart, I'd actually like to see some war of words between the two of them.
Has this vid been cut down by UA-cam? The opening is you Robert talking about sap?? V confusing...
Mine says 3 22
FodderForForeshadowing , I think UA-cam temporarily caps most new streams at 2 hours for a short period of time and then usually after an hour or so they release the full length vid.
@@AndrewK23777 16 hrs later, it's still only 2 hrs.
I'm less than 10 minutes in, and I'm cracking up imagining just how HUGE "TWOW" is going to be, physically. I definitely agree it's going to be at least two volumes, if not more.
"The now of wolf thought"...thank you, Pinis.
What happened with the extra hour and a half?
Fun idea about Arya would be if her skin-changing cats was helping her in her stealth and silence in catching her 'prey'.
Did Berics resurrection take place when King Robert died?
I read somewhere that he was working on both books at the same time and that they were mostly ready and I had got my hopes up.
But by both books, he meant he’s redoing the first two books in the series as he doesn’t like them any more. Then he will start TWoW.
No, that's not true. In 2019 he wrote on Not A Blog that he hadn't even started on A Dream of Spring (unless of course he's tricking us, but I think that's unlikely).
I'm from the future, the year 2023. There is still no book, and no end to the wait in sjght.
I get what you are saying, but I would prefer 1/2 a book now. 😂
I’m curious if George will have any character combine/consume Shade of the Evening and Weirwood paste.
Dude, how does my favorite ASOIAF character, Edric Dayne, end up? Thanks
3 years later No closer
Wild it’s taken this long
Watching this video 3 years later and listening to Rob saying winds will be released 3 years from now 🤣🤣🤣 we are 1100 pages down at least. Haha
is it just me or did we start midsentence? Cheers!
Happened to me too when I tried to chromecast it started like an hour and change in the stream. Had to play in on my phone for the full thing.
Bob Motto same here. Wouldn’t work on my laptop but my phone can play it from the beginning
@@bobmotto2143 thanks! I ended up just watching it from that place so its good to know i missed some
@@esessien8495 thank you
Are you ever going to do an ASOIAF on "a well told tale"?
I didn't realize the thematic play of Widow's Wail and Oathkeeper on the Tower of Joy. I am seriously such a straightforward, face-value reader and person in general. All the interesting stuff is lost on me and good god reading the prophecy/dream stuff was so confusing.
I would like to see Arya use Widows Wail, maybe to kill Ilyn or a Lannister
I'm really starting to think prince/princess that was promised to the others. Dany is going to be queen. Nights Queen.
He can always, at that point just touch her forehead and bring her back right?
... I just kinda blew my own mind at the end there with a flippant thought that on reflection seems pretty spot on and bitter sweet.
Barristan kills faegon, becoming a kingslayer and keeping his title as Slayer of the Last Blackfyre Pretender
Also Jon IS the 3rd mount come on now lol she's gonna ride him to love alright 😏
Forley Prester. He'll be the POV. The Brotherhood will take Jeyne. Not Edmure tho. Also aren't BWB Targaryen loyalists deep down? Greenbeard, Thoros, House Dayne, Richard Lonmouth is Lem...
IDG!!!
Way too many ads! 2-4 ok but 12???
I think lady stoneheart will 💯 be the one to attack jaynes convoy and she will kill Jayne for her perceived betrayal.
Will they side with Aegon or Dany? LMAO Dany is a prisoner of Khal Jhaqo she mite fight Aegon but it won't be soon
Ugly Jon Snow. Awww why you gotta break our hearts GRRM???
F-aegon > Aegon
this guy man. always hating Dany's popularity and iconic standing, in what reality would Selmy betray Dany, he loves her.
It's a pretty popular theory in the fandom.
M e and u can mess this up
Im still hoping against all hope that jon isant a Targaryan.
LMAO u think George "you killed my magnum opus now shut up and make me rich" Martin will release more than 1 book at a time?? 1500 pages are the max
this guy claims to know his stuff but pretends targaryen have enslaved? do one, hates their popularity. unlucky.
