I watched the slipper and the rose over and over again as a child. So in love with the costumes, songs, and of course Richard Chamberlain as the Prince...
The dress, cape and shoes are definitely an outfit I wouldn't mind wearing because it would make me feel like a princess out of a magical Fairy Tale storybook. I'll even wear a sparkly tiara to match the shoes.
This movie may not have become as iconic as Mary Poppins or Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, but it does prove once again how masterful the Sherman Brothers were at writing a really catchy tune.
One of the most watch fairytale movie.... With this kind of movie....every girl would never stop dreaming....of having their very own happily ever after
My favourite part was the mice dancing and the music 🎶😊 as a ballet dancer I always enjoy scenes like that ❤ the old movies are the best, there was magic in them✨
Cinderella is my favorite fairytale of all time! I love the story much that I'm pretty receptive to most of the many adaptions that exist today - both past and present. My favorites obviously include this wonderful gem, Disney's 1950 adaption, Ever After, and I thought Disney's 2015 live remake was absolutely stunning! When she descends the staircase in that blue gown - with Patrick Doyle's score going full throttle, it's a piece of cinematic history, and I weep nearly every time I see it!
Who Thinks this version is better than the 1950 Original we all have different opinions I loved the original 1950 one. But this one was absolutely phenomenal with all of the great music it is so worth it
"The Slipper and the Rose", "Tři oříšky pro Popelku"/"Drei Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel" and "Hey, Cinderella!" are the best film adaptations of "Cinderella".
I totally agree it's just as good as the 1950 animated one from Disney. Potentially even much better because I watched the full movie one time. The music was absolutely wonderful for this movie. For the musical as well as the scenery and the acting.
Since the 70's, movies like this one and a few others have had to be changed so not to offend anyone. These movies didn't offend anyone back then, so why do they now.
Nope, Gemma Craven came along 20-plus years after Disney's animated 1950 classic... You're thinking of radio singer Ilene Woods (who, incidentally, looked very pretty herself).
In this 1976 film version of Cinderella Bryan Forbes has his heroine declare that she cannot believe it! What could she mean? I haven't too many qualms with the camera technique Forbes employs to transform Cinders to a princess. Nor do I care that Forbes unimaginatively borrowed Reginald Mills ("Tales of Beatrix Potter") idea to use classically trained dancers in animal masks, in his prelude of mice transforming in to white horses. However, I balk at the work of "Slipper and the Rose" costume designer Julie Harris. Harris would have worked with a reasonable budget, a sizable wardrobe staff and an insight in to 18th century period references. Regardless of this, all Harris can deliver are costumes that are historically inaccurate, ugly, and would shame a gifted designer of amateur pantomime. But then, Bryan Forbes wasn't much of filmmaker...
I liked her dress and the costumes. However, Cinderella's dress doesn't seem to stand out at the ball. The prince also wore too much brown for my liking, and I found his clothes at the ball a random choice of color.
This was my favourite Cinderella movie.

Those jeweled mules are the best practical shoes in any Cinderella I've watched. The 2015 Disney live action takes the cake for the best gown.
This movie may not have become as iconic as Mary Poppins or Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, but it does prove once again how masterful the Sherman Brothers were at writing a really catchy tune.
I agree Taka. You are Protocoligorically Correct.
Those slippers! They're gorgeous!
I love versions of Cinderella because they all have their own different style and look and aren't all the same
omg, this is a burst of nostalgia as soon as I see her iconic pink gown😊
One of the better live action versions of Cinderella out there.
Not the best dress though
@@legallyfinn3816the most historically accurate one, though

I love the shoes oh my GOD
The shoes are nice ...and so glittering
The shoes in Cinderella are glass because of a mistranslation of the French word for fur.
This Cinderella is beautiful ....old is gold...
My favourite part was the mice dancing and the music 🎶😊 as a ballet dancer I always enjoy scenes like that ❤ the old movies are the best, there was magic in them✨
I love that they went with the Pink dress. Like Cinderella's mothers original dress.
Omg the shoes I love these shoes, if I ever find a pair of shoes like these I'm getting them! This is my favorite Cinderella it's the best!

D.R. Storm You left out The Glass Slipper and R&H Cinderella starring Lesley Ann Warren.
D.R. Storm missed the ending of the horses& anna

3:47 the mouse dancers are so cute !!!! 😄😃
Woah. This fairy godmother is so cool. In like a grandma sort of way. 😮
More like an aunt than a grandmother, but yeah.
We went to see this at the dollar theater at least 2 or 3 times a week all through the summer of 1977.
Now I do remember it. It was so long ago I watched it on television. I didn't recognize him back then.
I did too back in the early 80's. it was cute.
Yes! I've been looking for this and just found it! Thank you!
"The Slipper and the Rose", "Tři oříšky pro Popelku"/"Drei Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel" and "Hey, Cinderella!" are the best film adaptations of "Cinderella".
Now she looks like the Cinderella. Beautiful. Hey
This fairy godmother actress also played queen Victoria in the 1970s. She was a great queen Victoria.
The fairy godmother's methods strangely resemble those of a stage magician... Did anyone else notice that?
this is my favorite version of cinderella

For a 70s movie this really rocks! But I usually prefer 19th century costuming for Cindy, 18th is reserved for Belle :)

@Henu-desget Maybe not *magically* , 😐 but still very pleasantly!!
But her attitude is fantastic
Wouldn’t really call it a transformation. More like camera pans off into the distance so she could do a costume change. And the songs...were a choice
I,would like to see the orignal
