The brothers Grimm in Germany and Perrault in France, just put on paper tales that were orally told and transmitted from generation to generation, in the evening next to the fireplace and doing some work such as breaking walnuts to make oil. According to the usage, they contained everything, in their developpement and different elements to "psychologize" anyone hearing them any time of their life they would listen to those stories. That's why they seem timeless and universal. That's also why the character of those tales usually don't have christian name but nickname so that boy or girl could identify oneself to the character.
A lot of people hating on the movie saying "it has bad script". People should know a bit of their fairytale history. Most of your fairytales come from folktales which have exaggerated scenarios for lesson learnings. This movie is the Grimm Brothers' version, who in 1800s compiled some german folktales and published. Personally, I like this version.
The first time I saw this version, I watched it in German, in my high school German language class. I only understood parts of it then. It was my first year taking German! Fond memories! Cheers to my teacher for sharing this with my class!!
Anchorage, Alaska. My mother and sister treated me the same way. Cinderella marry a prince. It hurts to watch that she went through so much pain. I know, it was all true back then. But that was history. I’ve been dateless for 24 years so. That’s a dream hail by a lot of women.
Is this how The Brothers Grimm wrote the story? It isn’t anything like I’m used to. I personally did not care for it at all. I like the fairy godmother who performs magic rather than a hickory tree growing out of her mother’s grave. It’s a bit too weird.
You know, I've been looking for this version of Cinderella movie for years, but never found it. But I just found it here. This version of the Cinderella movie made a great impression on my memory when I was 10 years old. I really thank to you, for uploading this movie. Much love from Indonesia 💖
@@radenyenirostikasari6203 Several reasons. There are many Cinderellas in the world being subjected to evil deeds by the very people who are suppose to care about them, care for them, and protect them. Too many times a blind eye is turned to those suffering in silence because they don't have a voice. I see this behavior in real life, in the news, and unfortunately in many instances these Cinderellas and Cinderellos lives end in death. So when I see this film I often ask myself why are they being so mean to her and why isn't anyone brave enough to help her. If the prince didn't marry her she would have continued being treated badly and her step sisters and step mother would have continued to act like, 'Oh, there isn't anything wrong, that just Cinderella.' And they never apologize to her even after she's married, they just carry on with life as if they didn't do anything wrong and they themselves are rewarded with riches and stability the very thing they wanted when were treating Cinderella so badly. It was a win win situation for the stepmother and her daughters, all at the expense of poor little cinderella. It seems heartwarming, too because for some weird reasons, I going back and forth currently to Berlin for work. "The movie is based on the Grimm brothers' story of the same name".The Brothers Grimm wrote down fairy tales previously known not only in Germany, but also in other European countries. Authorship may be international.
Ironically her mother gave her an even better looking dress. It may have been a coincidence that hers stood out compared to the other maidens due to its original style, but keep in mind that her father probably would have bought a seemingly similar dress like the stepsisters'. That would have made her an extra face in the crowd.
The father is the meanest in this story : let his daughter being bullied by his new wife and her chidren... He looks at her sleeping on the floor in the kitchen and smiles in content... Never saying a word to protect and defend her...
He never consulted with his own daughter if she truly was lonely after his 1st wife's passing. However he met the step family, he automatically assumed they were perfect because his daughter would not only gain a new mother but 2 sisters as well. After a while, I've realized that it would not have mattered if he never remarried at all. A lot of people tend to forget that Cinderella was destined to be the Prince's dream girl because she had always been kind like her mother taught her. She never took her position in a wealthy family name for granted compared to the step family. Her kindness is what attracted the prince in the first place, not her silver dress. She only looked as if she physically stood out compared to the other maidens because her mother blessed her to be the most original.
I agree one reason I did not like this version the father stood around looking at his very own daughter dirty and dressed poorly. Took his wife’s lies as if they were the reason of her acting and dressing like that. Did he not notice they also overtook her room. They also had her slaving as a maid right in front of him. Nevertheless she kept her humbleness and had a beautiful pure heart. She was way precipitar than her step sisters. Just like the mother ugly inside and out.
How blind parents can be... She was literally showing her father how miserable she is. But people have great abilities to not see what they don't want to see / what contradicts their view on things
So true. Strange enough this is the only Cinderella where her father is alive. In the others the stepmother and stepsisters started treating her badly after her father died
The Stepmother has him convinced that she is just being a quirky child. He probably thinks that she wants to do all the work and that she wants to sleep by the kitchen fire. They probably even convinced him that changing her name to Cinderella was her idea.

Not really a twist,in pretty much all versions the father is depicted as a coward spinless neglectful ashole ( including in Perrault's version ) ,Walt Disney killed him off for practical reasons ( his character is s rather superfluous ) and his version became cannon ( Disney's version is drastically different from either Grimm's or Perrault's versions in both plot and characters )

I am watching. I love the Cinderella movies. I think we women see a little bit of us in this movie. From a child into adulthood. This movie is fascinating to me. All of us are women are “ Princess “ even when we don’t feel like one.😔😏😁😄
I'm surprised her father knows that she's sleeping in the kitchen and doing work for the house but he tolerated it and didn't come to her defense. Why was that?!
I ask the same question when I'm reading the old Cinderella story. How can her father turn a blind eye to the abuse & neglect the stepmother & stepsisters do.
@@BlackCatFilmProductions strange version of Cinderella"s story. No wonder she didn't think twice in riding the horse of her Prince... She was off to her beloved"s arms where she feels more loved.
I agree. Cinderella put up with too much. She let people walk all over her. My favorite version is Cenerentola where the character is intelligent and talented.

@@lavenderbeauty413 Ever After is an excellent version of Cinderella. The father dies shortly after the marriage and there is an evil rich man who wants Cinderella too. It is a must see version of Cinderella.
If you would like to see a really interesting version of Cinderella there is a two part TV series called Cinderella (Cenerentola). Someone said it takes place in the 1960s in Rome. I would have guessed it took place twenty years earlier. The writing, acting and setting are outstanding. I totally forgot I was watching a movie that was supposed to be a fairy tale. I will definitely watch it again.

I think that is why I enjoy fairy tales so much, the plots are familiar!
@@TheHennaRealm I’m glad you reminded me! Memory loss is a terrible condition. I have not seen some of these. I find movie recommendations by reading UA-cam comments under movies I like, googling the title and looking at recommended videos and on IMDB by entering the name of a movie like Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty and it will list movies or TV shows with it in the title or similar movies. I rely on IMDB to find out information on a movie, actor or director or other movies in the same genre etc. I find it indispensable! There are probably other sources. I have never looked because I find it so useful. There are many more Cinderella movies listed on these sources. I know some of them are hard to find unless you have a paid service, which I do not. I feel blessed to have UA-cam for free movies and a source I just found recently which is totally safe on your computer as it is sponsored by NBC. It is: Peacock. IMDB 5.8. 4.3/5 Vadu. 57% Rotten Tomatoes I don’t let low ratings bother me because there are many people who are critical of fairy tales and shouldn’t be watching them to start with, aka men! It’s like Hallmark Christmas movies. If you don’t like them, don’t watch them and then complain. I have different rating systems: one for movies that are supposed to appeal to everyone regardless of age, one for movies made for TV on a limited budget or ratings for films in a specific genre. For example, there is a three part miniseries made for TV that is very similar to Indiana Jones. People compare it to Indiana Jones, a production that cost 15 million dollars in 1981! A $1 million dollar made-for-TV movie thirty years later is not going to be competitive but it can still be really enjoyable to watch and should be much higher related than a 4.8/10. A made-for-TV Hallmark movie is made on a limited budget in about three weeks. A person shouldn’t expect it to compare to a big budget movie with top actors, producers and director that takes 3 or more months to film. A Cinderella Story Christmas Wish (2019) Ever After:A Cinderella Story. (1998) Ella Enchanted (2004) I have never seen Into the Woods, but only short clips. I would love to see it and must remember to look for it. Ha, not easily done with my brain! Never take your brain for granted. There are things while you are young that will help protect it like good nutrition and adequate rest. You never know when an illness can damage it; it is too late then; aging makes it worse. ) :

It was a different twist but knowing that the father was alive and let his wife treat his daughter that way so sad
Not really a twist,in pretty much all versions the father is depicted as a coward spinless neglectful ashole ( including in Perrault's version ) ,Walt Disney killed him off for practical reasons ( his character is s rather superfluous ) and his version became cannon ( Disney's version is drastically different from either Grimm's or Perrault's versions in both plot and characters )
watching it in September 2024
God will always bless people like cinderellah
Cinderella...is Aschenputtel..from brother ,,Grimm,, written..I see every new movie..but first was the best..the actors are in every movie great, depends how you like it..have fun❤

❤🌝🙌👸🤴🌹🌹🌹🌹🌳🌳🌳🌳🍎🍎🍎🎊🎊🎁🎁🎁🎀🎀🔴🔴🔴 gorgeous Cinderella . Pleasure story.
He was dubbed
It's just sad that at first he couldn't recognize his chosen one.
I always love cinderella
Ich mag das so sehr. Danke~~
I would've burned that house down because i will not be a slave in my own daddy's house. The Fairy God Mother would need to save them and not me
😂
I agree. Cinderella put up with too much. She let people walk all over her. My favorite version is Cenerentola where the character is intelligent and talented.
😂
Not only the house also her father stepsister and their mother.drug them tied and burn 🔥
I search this version in French because I watched it when I was young ‼️⁉️❓thank you
I too enjoy every version they made.
Your video's are awesome👍❤💖💚💛💜💝💞💟💌💕
Who is watching this movie in 2023
Me. I have watched every version of Cinderella that I can find. I am 71 years old and still always looking for that happy ending for her and --find it. Of course Disney’s is the best.
☝️

I have lost count of the various versions of Cinderella. Nevertheless, it’s a timeless classic & always a pleasure to watch.
"The movie is based on the Grimm brothers' story of the same name".The Brothers Grimm wrote down fairy tales previously known not only in Germany, but also in other European countries. Authorship may be international.
This prince is a menace 😂 chopping down everything he can, I’m laughing so hard. The tar on the stairs too omg 😂
I could never understand the fathers in all these Cinderella movies. They see how differently the step mom and sisters treat Cinderella and yet they( the fathers) they do nothing.
Yeah...right..
But I wonder Cinderella too who keeps quiet and doesn't tell her dad about the step mom.
In pretty much all versions the father is depicted as a coward spinless neglectful ashole ( including in Perrault's version ) ,Walt Disney killed him off for practical reasons ( his character is s rather superfluous ) and his version became cannon ( Disney's version is drastically different from either Grimm's or Perrault's versions in both plot and characters )
You Tube : My thanks for this free movie. Loved it!!!
He went and cut down two of Ella's most precious things, the tree and the dove house. He really has no respect for her, that "father"
If the father's still a live. Why is Cinderella still sleeping by the fireplace.
Cheryl Burk cuz her father is a dumbass, who can't realize that his daughter is be harassed. Or if he can he just doesn't care. 🙄
Because he was a pathetic hunk of spineless fool.
He's under a spell 😔
He passed on while working far away.
Love is blind.
I love justice ⚖ ⚖! It's a really great adaptation !
27:04 I'd be like, dad wtf? 🤬 Don't you see something wrong here?🤦♀️ Don't just leave! 🙅♀️I'm a slave in our own house. 😟😫 He doesn't even say bye. Geesh Cinderella has alotta patience and longsuffering.
Her father drives me NUTS. He goes from thoughtful to friggin' blind, cuts down a friggin' beautiful tree and calls his daughter "Cinderella". WHAT AN OAF!
RIGHT?!
I think watching the cartoon movie of Cinderella is much more fun😉
And it's got heaps of cute songs in it🙂
yes...so adorable
@@lavenderbeauty413 Ever After is an excellent version of Cinderella. The father dies shortly after the marriage and there is an evil rich man who wants Cinderella too. It is a must see version of Cinderella.
Loved IT watching❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Cinderella ist my Favoriten Fairytale
I didn't know that Movie since i SAW it for the First time
If you would like to see a really interesting version of Cinderella there is a two part TV series called Cinderella (Cenerentola). Someone said it takes place in the 1960s in Rome. I would have guessed it took place twenty years earlier. The writing, acting and setting are outstanding. I totally forgot I was watching a movie that was supposed to be a fairy tale. I will definitely watch it again.
Thank you for your recommendation - on YT channel Movie Central and watching "Cenerentola" now...much better!
loved it too! anything else to recommend? :)
@@TheHennaRealm Your comment just popped up. It is the wee hours of the morning and I haven’t yet gone to bed. I cannot remember where I found the information about that version . I will try to remember. If you do not hear back from me, send me another comment. I will do my best to respond. I have terrible memory loss. I think that is why I enjoy fairy tales so much, the plots are familiar!
@@deborahmerkerson1145 I've watched the Cinderella you mentioned. I'm wondering if there's any other movies like these that you'd recommend :)
There are a LOT of great free movies, TV shows, documentaries, sports programs etc…. If you don’t know it, check it out. I love it! Happy viewing!!
Cinderella (1989) or Aschenputtle. 89% Google users 4.5 Amazon. 6.1 IMDB
A Cinderella Story (2011)
Another Cinderella Story (2008)
The Glass Slipper (1955)
Three Wishes for Cinderella (1973)
Into the Woods (2014)
A Cinderella Story: If the Shoe Fits (2016). IMDB 5.8. 4.3/5 Vadu. 57% Rotten Tomatoes
I don’t let low ratings bother me because there are many people who are critical of fairy tales and shouldn’t be watching them to start with, aka men!
A Cinderella Story Christmas Wish (2019)
Ever After:A Cinderella Story. (1998)
Ella Enchanted (2004)
I have never seen Into the Woods, but only short clips. I would love to see it and must remember to look for it. Ha, not easily done with my brain!
Never take your brain for granted. There are things while you are young that will help protect it like good nutrition and adequate rest. You never know when an illness can damage it; it is too late then; aging makes it worse. ) :
