This is my favorite "Midnight" sequence in any Cinderella adaptation. No CGI or special effects used. Just a slow transition from Cinderella's ballgown to her simple scullery dress, so slow that you almost don't notice it happening until it's over. I think it's exceedingly clever.
This has to be one of my most favorite versions of the Cinderella musicals! The music is beyond lovely and it never fails to bring me back to my childhood or make me sing along with all the incredible songs. This movie is a sheer delight for all ages.
I can never understand y this film is not as popular as it should be? To me this is a classic and as it has been said before, ot captures the story of Cinderella beautifully. I first saw this on bbc2 i think when i was about 7, i am now 26 and still love it!!!
Yes, he’s gay - but as an actor very much underrated as Adaorah Ikwueme said. He was the leading man and portrayed his characters extremely well in many mini series on tv...Such as Fr. Ralph de Bricassart in “The Thorn Birds.” Of course, his dashing good looks were not overlooked😊
This film still makes me all gooey and silly. As a young girl it maybe responsible for my silly romantic hopes but still, what a lovely film. They were both perfect in their roles and this song is sooooo beautiful. Thanks for posting x
Yes it is. They filmed it in 70's and this is such a good trick! How her dress are slowly changing and also her hair and the rose petals are falling... it's really cool :-)
This is a great movie when I was 12 on that year... so romantic movie to me that I never forget... so happy that I can find it in YOUTube today💯❣💖 tks so much
What a beautiful film, used to watch it whan i was younger and fell in love with it, managed to find it on ebay for 99p which i was so happy about :-). This is one of my favorite songs in the film, one of the best cinderella films ever done so magical.
This movie is something that I proudly share with my closest friends and family members. It's a treasure that is not really my own, but one that has it's own little part of my heart, and that from an early age; shaped who I am today. When I am incredibly sad I sing Once I was loved. When I feel well and truly loved I sing this song. And out of the blue... well I've been know to sing a handful of others. If you have simply stumbled upon this video I recommend watching the movie.
Gemma craven is Irish like myself but that not just the reason I think she a perfect cinderella she just is amazing as cinderella just sweet and radiant and realistic and Richard chamberlain is a good Prince
I have loved this movie since I first saw it on TV back in the 80's. Tonight, I couldn't sleep until I heard this song again. Love it!! Interestingly, I never realized before how much Gemma Craven sounds like Julie Andrews! I guess I was distracted by the confectionary hair & costumes, and by Richard Chamberlain 😍🤩😍
i love this film, its so lovely, i cant explain why i like it so much because ive watched it since i was tiny litle and its a part of me now. wonderful sweet musical x
I absolutely adore this film have the DVD the Soundtrack and managed to find the original tie in book of the film. Not that i'm boasting just an adoring fan and Richard Chamberlain is so hot in this. And it warms the cockles of my heart to know Gemma Craven is Irish.
Yep we have an irish cinderella she was perfect Gemma was absolutely wonderful I'm not saying that cause she's Irish like myself when I saw the movie I didn't know she was Irish until I read her Wikipedia she was just perfect as cinderella and richard chamberlain was handsome and loved his sense of humour as the prince
The same here, Jenni. When I was around 8 years old, I wanted to become a singer. Later I have started singing lessons because of this....and still I remember that this film was THE inspiration. I am not this kind of singer or cinderella...but still...I sometimes am in my dreams.....I love this.
This is my favorite version of Cinderella the music is so beautiful. I can not find it for purchase and sadly they never play it anymore.-- Thank you so much for this post.
This has been one of my favorite movies since I was a little girl, for fifteen plus years, and I never realized before that the lovely, haunting music from 0:27-1:50 is "Secret Kingdom"!!! Wow. In my opinion, this is the absolute best version of Cinderella's ballgown transforming back to her tattered dress. So so wonderful. I adore this film. *sigh*
Not to mention it's also lovely how they reinforce the fact that the shoes were the only aspect of her costume that weren't basically illusion magic...everything else just melts away back into its prior form (and presumably disappears back to the estate, I assume, seeing as she technically should have had a mop on her head and a pumpkin and mice near the gates otherwise?) as she runs down the stairs, except for her glass shoes.
@Dashtyme Yes this is impossible to find, I tried on Amazon but was not sure if If was availabe for American DVD players ,This is a childhood favorite of mine!
if u look at the part 1:19 on a better quality video, you would see they tried to make filming easier for them by already having the slipper there. they tried to hide it with the pole though but i saw it
Not that I care or it could ever spoil this phenomenal movie for me, but it also always amuses me that it is daylight when she is rushing home at midnight.
Can sm1 who has d full version of the movie share with me d link?D best version of Cinderella ever made. Its really surprised that it's not well known as other version
PLS: don't you anyone have english subtitles of this film? Well, I understand it quite well, but in some scenes I am not sure what are they saying. Or screenplay would help me too... BTW: Of course it's fantastic song and I love this movie. if I didn't, I wouldn't ask for subtitles ;-)))
Could have been. "I could have danced all night" in My Fair Lady Or, the man the went to fetch the Purple ROSE behind the 7 delusional gates. And he rides unicorns, fights trees, escapes the beautiful amazons and rides unicorns while successful retrieving the rose on the other side. maybe The Purple Rose of Kyro. Beauty and the Beast "Rose" and Ella and the Beast inside of us. This is all good stuff here people. Oh or Man of La Mancha. Don Qiotie was awesome live. I think that was what is was called "Dolsinia" Don't forget I love the Nutcracker! Live with the good Old Brishnekov guy. On ICE what ever. Love IT! So Christmasy
It's a little strange to think of the prince I grew up with being gay, as Chamberlain is, but the acting is very good and my entire family has loved this movie all of my life.

This is the most romantic song of all the musical productions of Cinderella. Also the most romantic waltz. The melody alone is enchanting.
You betcha! Moving, romantic, catchy and everything. I love this song!
This cinderella version is my favorite. The songs and melodies really touch my heart.
This has to be one of my most favorite versions of the Cinderella musicals! The music is beyond lovely and it never fails to bring me back to my childhood or make me sing along with all the incredible songs. This movie is a sheer delight for all ages.
RIP Robert Sherman. This film soundtrack is as good as it gets.
I can never understand y this film is not as popular as it should be? To me this is a classic and as it has been said before, ot captures the story of Cinderella beautifully. I first saw this on bbc2 i think when i was about 7, i am now 26 and still love it!!!
This movie is before my time but I love it dearly. It is my favorite movie of all time.
Such a romantic melody. No other Cinderella film can compare to this and Richard Chamberlain is the only conceiveable prince in this role
Well, there are others. For example, Three Nuts for Cindirella.
Hahaha, when I was a little girl and loved to watch this movie every week, I thought "Incognita" was a real name. :)
Omg same!!!! I watched this movie every week and thought it was a name!
Me too. Now as an adult, you got to admit the vocabulary in this film is magnificent!
@@pamelatarajcak5634 the Sherman Brothers excelled in their lyrics.
This is my favourite version of all the Cinderella films and this song is my favourite, although every song is great.
Gorgeous movie, they just don't make movies like this anymore, and very talented actors, singing and dancing, super!
Man I LOVE Richard Chamberlain. He is sooooo handsome and talented, extremely underrated actor.
he is gay u know?
Yes, he’s gay - but as an actor very much underrated as Adaorah Ikwueme said. He was the leading man and portrayed his characters extremely well in many mini series on tv...Such as Fr. Ralph de Bricassart in “The Thorn Birds.”

Magical film which my family and I (especially my sisters) grew up watching together. Fondly remembered.
Love this film. Always will. The best Cinderella movie musical ever.
Yes it is. They filmed it in 70's and this is such a good trick! How her dress are slowly changing and also her hair and the rose petals are falling... it's really cool :-)

@@calliestephen I know! They literally just tinted the screen blue to pretend it's night 😂
She transformed into what she wore before the fairy godmother changed her to begin with! Logically of course!

The blu ray release added a blue tint to Cinderella’s part. An artistic choice for the remaster or was it a part of the original masters?
