You my man deserve a Nobel prize, be declared as 'Sir' by the Queen of England, and a glass of the finest wine out there. I've seen a whole bunch of 'how to tie a half - windsor knot' on YT, and this is by far the easiest and straight to the point video there is.

I had always been tying my tie The Full Windsor and it had took at least 5-7 mins, but since I've learned the 1/2 Windsor it literally takes less than 2mins without even looking in the mirror...
And this by far is the best tutorial video on how to Tie A Tie... Good Job!

Great video instruction, thanks. I've been doing the "four in hand" every time I do wear a tie (which is only once or twice a year) and never been satisfied with it. This half Windsor has just one extra step and works and looks so much better. Your video was the best I've seen and now finally I look forward to wearing a tie :-D

2:38 Interestingly, the way you say not to do it is, to the best of my knowledge, the standard half windsor knot. The way you tie it here is a modified version. I think it's also the knot Daniel Craig wore in the Virgin Atlantic scene in Quantum of Solace.
Even though, in my experience, the standard version comes out just as symmetrical, I tend to prefer the shape of the modified one because it's a bit more narrow/elongated.
That being said, the standard version creates an empty v-shaped groove allowing the knot to more easily cover/hide the fabric above the top button, at least in my experience. Then again, I do tie my knots pretty tight. Maybe if I keep the tie fabric a bit looser the underworkings of the knot will be pulled down a little when I pull the wide end (a.k.a. blade) through the final step, creating a bit of an empty groove of its own. I think I see that in the way you do it. It looks great, by the way!
As you can tell, I've put way too much time into practicing this stuff :-) Plus, I know describing the visuals without showing them is probably pretty confusing. Maybe I'll make my own tie videos one day. All the best, bro!

I have been trying to figure out how to tie a tie for a "woman" and have tried a few sites and this one is AMAZING..... I am an intelligent woman but being single for 20 years and without any spatial abilities I tried a couple of "drawings" and two other "windsor" knot videos and they were distasterous (only to find out that they were best for a man with a larger face.... and being a size 0.... hmmmm.... this "half-windor" seemed like a great idea! This gentleman is my new SUPER HERO and I would recommend it for all single-mom's to young gents or anyone who is learning to tie a tie! I am a professional trainer and he does EVERYTHING right! He even shows how to fix a mistake..... proving even men aren't always perfect... which is great because I had an issue trying to balance out the tie. WATCH THIS ONE BOYS, MEN, GALS, and MOMS! Thanks!
