      I wish I could say the dog and I have since become friends, but he still barks wildly at me every time I walk by.
      Thanks, Benjamin!

    Interesting, a lot of studying. I’m a doctor and went to school for 10 years and work in several hospitals and have a private practice. My friend from the San Francisco Symphony is quite happy being a musician and makes a decent living making around 180k. You must enjoy your profession very much.

      Very cool! Yes, San Francisco Symphony is probably one of the highest paying symphonies in the US, I would imagine - and probably also because of the cost of living in San Fran. Very competitive to get into!
      I tell students, "don't go into music for the money." You should only go into music if you really love it and can't imagine doing anything else. I do enjoy my profession very much. :)

    i’m a junior in highschool and i’ve been playing cello for abt 8 years now and i feel like i’m not gonna be ready to play in college bc my teacher/conductor puts so much effort into getting the lower classman at high school level :/

    • @CelloGoodSir
      @CelloGoodSir  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Naomie, it's hard not to compare ourselves to other players! I would say take private lessons if you aren't already, and make sure you and your private teacher are on the same page about your goals with cello. Then, sketch out a plan that will help get you there! (Pieces or technique to learn by a certain time, etc.)

    Do you have any opinions about freelance websites like Fiverr? I want to hire a cellist to make a cover of a song for my wedding later this year and I'm trying to learn more about what that might look like from the artists' perspective before I do that.

    • @BewitchinGinger
      @BewitchinGinger 3 роки тому

      I should clarify, to record the song, not to play live.

    • @CelloGoodSir
      @CelloGoodSir  3 роки тому +1

      Good question! I've considered getting set up on a few sites like Fiverr but haven't really gotten to it yet. If they can provide samples of their arranging, that would certainly be helpful. And just make sure you're clear with them about the pricing -- if they charge per hour of work spent arranging or just charge a flat rate per arrangement, etc. Congrats on the wedding!

    • @CelloGoodSir
      @CelloGoodSir  3 роки тому +6

      Good question! My C and G pegs are there, but they are Posture Pegs. They're flush with the scroll and you tune them with a little key the inserts. I got them because I have a long neck and the pegs got in the way!
