Just remember that the awful sound you’re talking about is likely because you’re a beginner ☺️ Give yourself some time. So, I initially turned my interest to cello, and then violoncello da spalla, which is played like violin but with cello sound. However, violoncello da spalla is not available in my country. And then, I started thinking about making my viloin sound one octave lower using octave string. And then eventually, my mind settled with an electric violin with octave pedal. Haha! What a journey! :)

It is so hard to get away from that, i played violin 14 years and i was good at Violin and switched to cello after that and it is really hard to Stop playing Like Violin, Took myself about 1-3 years (bow like 5min, but left hand is definitly an other story), remember they did it for 1h and that was really good

Shifting, stabbing, back hurts, heavy bow, foot got stabbed my end pen for some reason, the end pen slid down during rehearsals, carrying the cello back and forth which whacked people in the process, calluses, having some pieces where cello was the one who set the beat yet the freaking violins went whEEEEEEeEeeEe. Having to dig in because of the c string, knocking the cello around. It hurts. Plus, we have to keep a straight face playing canon in d.
